I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I hope you can help, I have Hot mail I use for my email, I send emails to several people, some with Outlook express, that they receive. My elderly Mom has Outlook express and anything I send to her from my hot mail, She doesn't receive. I also have an Outlook express acct that I don't use (but have kept it open) because I get 20 to 50 plus spams a day. I've sent My Mom a note on that one and she receives it! I even checked my Mom's Outlook to make sure there were no blocks on it and there isn't any. I would appreciate any help!

Thanks

Hi,
I have just set up my Windows Live Mail (Windows7 Home Premium 32bit) to send and receive emails using the POP3 / SMTP method, but have a problem.
I can receive emails - no problem, but cannot send from this account and receive the following error message.....

?POP user name: your complete Windows Live Hotmail address (including "@hotmail.com", "@live.com", etc.)
?POP password: your Windows Live Hotmail password

?SMTP (outgoing) server: smtp.live.com
?SMTP port: 25 ?If you run into problems sending mail, try "587" for the SMTP port instead.

When setting up my live mail account, I let it do it automaticlly and never had a problem. You could try to remove the account, close down live mail. Then open live mail and re-add the account and let it add it automaticlly. If succesful, check the settings and compare to your settings you have listed and see what the difference is.

For the past week, since 8/18/2004, E-mail that I send to Yahoo and Hotmail via Outlook Express 6, is being delayed. It is only certain addresses. It is taking up to 2 days and occassionally there is a mail failure. Hotmail sends me messages that the mail is being delayed and not to resend, but the recipient never receives it. My E-mail address is not blocked. When I send via internet, all is well. I have no other problems sending or recieivng to others.

Any thoughts?

I use Outlook for email, from Office 2007 Professional because the accounting program and my Palm Pro PDA likes it.

Just recently I have had a couple of complaints that emails with a video attached I have forwarded have been delivered to the addressee in excess of 30 or 40 times.

The latest was last night when one of my sons said he had received it 104 times, and another friend in the USA 99 times, needless to say both aren't happy, the video was a wmv (3mb).

When my son called me a an hour or so later it was still in my outgoing mail box, obviously because it was still sending.

I have run full AV scan using Esset Nod32 which came up clean, so I’m at a loss where else the problem is or where/what to look for.

Thanks for reading…..Any clues/help would be appreciated.

All seems to be normal when sending, but the email is never received by the recipient. In the mean time I have forwarded emails to another Hotmail account.

A:Hotmail not sending

I think you should try to send to a fake Email and if you get the failed notification that's mean you email is sending option is working , but if not try to check your provider service for your Internet maybe they don't allowed you to send after the spam Email was sent from your account .

A:Sending EXE.Files via Hotmail

Hello Harry,

Normally you would just have the .exe in a ZIP file, and send the ZIP file instead. This avoids the .exe from possibly getting blocked.

Hope this helps,

Hi Guys, hope this is the right thread!

I have had an issue sending to hotmail from my new SBS2003 server. I am not an expert in exchange, so I will explain as best I can...

We had an IT company set the system up, but they left the server as an open relay. Meaning we got blacklisted, which I have spent a day or so scouring blacklists removing us. That all seems ok, and we can send emails as normal. EXCEPT to any hotmail account. It just dissapears...doesnt bounce back, doesnt appear in my Hotmail Junk folder...just gone.

This is a real hassle, as we are a booking agency, and send confirmations through to email addresses, and at the moment, cannot do so to hotmail accounts. Hotmail have talked about adding an SPF entry to our DNS table, but our Domain host have said that it can cause problems doing that, and wont neccessarily fix the hotmail issue.

Does anybody have any suggestions, or ideas on what else I can do???

I can supply more info if required...

THANKS HEAPS!

Hi guys,

Not a major issue but....

Tonight a contact of mine on msn said she had recieved some emails from my account that were obvious spams. She says she has had them from other contacts too, and all from the UK.
She even named it the British Bug LOL

Is there any way I can check how these are going out? and stop them?

I know I have had similar emails myself from a contact sometime last year.

I use a hotmail account and a googlemail account alongside MSN and sometimes I use Digsby as well to organise them.

I have Vista Home Premium which is updated weekly. Antivirus is AVG free version 8, last updated today, and every day when I boot up.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

My hotmail email address seems to be sending out spam to people without my knowledge. I first found out about it when I started to get some failed delivery notifications, and a friend told me that he had received an email from me recommending an electrical website! I have since found that my signature had been changed to an advertisment, and there was a similar "out of office" message put on the account. Now I am getting lots of failed delivery notifications from people / places that I don't recognise at all.

I'm using Vista OS and have AVG free addition as virus protection. I have since added Avira Free as well. Doing full scans with both fails to find any threats. I've just done a HijackThis scan and would be thankful if someone could have a look through and tell me if there is something in there that shouldn't be (the only entry that looks suspect to me is the "02 - BHO: WormBlaster" entry, but I really don't know what I'm talking about). Or is there is something else that I should be doing? I did read in an article whilst searching the web that my pc might not be infected, but it may be someone elses, and my email address might have just been picked up out of their address book - is this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help - Mark.

hello:

i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.

I use:

-Windows 7 Pro
-64 Bit
-Outlook 2010
-I have our own domain name email address, that is hosted by Frontier

Odd thing:  I changed my password for my email, but my outlook kept sending/receiving with the old password.
When I tried to update  the new password in outlook (which I verified by using the webmail versus outlook), it would not accept it.

Intermittently, Outlook 2007 will crash while sending an email and, needless to say, the email is not sent. However I wanted to know if there is a temp or backup copy of that mail anywhere. I've looked in drafts and it's not there.

I've sometimes typed a very long email and then lost the whole email when Outlook crashes so I just wanted to know if, like Word, there is a temp file that may be created.

Thanks.

hello folks

Problem :
My hotmail recently started sending spam and junk mails to all my contacts. I noticed this because my sent folder was full of this spam messages. It has been doing this for past 2 days.

Steps I have taken to try and solve this
I tried changing my Hotmail password, alternative email and secret question ... without any results

Warning my Google Chrome gave me this morning

This is probably not the site you are looking for!
You attempted to reach by151w.bay151.mail.live.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as a248.e.akamai.net. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of by151w.bay151.mail.live.com.
You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.
After seeing that warning i suspected that my DNS had been changed by some virus and my sites were being redirected to some shady server. However the result of my ipconfig/all showed that I still have the right DNS on my NIC.

Also some of these spam emails are sent when my PC is turned off sometimes.

Your Help in solving this will be HIGHLY appreciated

This problem has occurred several times and has caused me great embarrassment. I click a name from my contacts list, which appears in the "send to" field. The name I select is the only name displayed in that field, and no names are displayed in the CC or BCC fields. I write my email and send it, but when I recieve the hotmail confirmation, it says my email has been sent to my intended receipient, as well as some other random person in the address book (not anyone near the intended person in alphebetical order). One particularly graphic email I sent to my boyfriend was somehow also sent by hotmail to my MOTHER, much to everyone's horror. Why?! Has this happened to anyone else? Can I prevent this in the future??

I have been using Hotmail for several years now with little problems until lately. Every third email or so that I send doesn't make it to the recipient. Forwards seem to go but some of the letters that I write dont' go or are sent back. There is nothing wrong with the email address' I am sending to. I seem to be the only one having trouble with them. Is anyone else having trouble like this? Is it my computer or Hotmail itself. I have the free version of Hotmail. Thanks in advance for the help.

My hotmail account has been sending out spam for quite awhile. I cancelled the account thinking the spamming would stop, but it hasn't, what else can I do?

A:My cancelled Hotmail is still sending spam

If you can still log into the account, change the password and empty your contacts list.

If it's been sending spam to people you know, tell them to add a filter to block any incoming messages from your hotmail address.

Ok hi.

I have this weird issue when I try to send e-mails using Hotmail.

I think this just started happening a few weeks ago.

I mainly use Firefox for my internet browser.

But when I use MSN messenger and it alerts me that I received an e-mail if I click on that link then it opens it up in a Internet Explorer page.

Anyways I can read all the e-mails other people send me fine.

But when I reply or even create an e-mail from scratch to send sometimes it sends with NO TEZT! All the text dissapears and all the people get is a message with a subject and no text.

This actually occurs weather I use Firefox or Internet Explorer.

My theory is that when I click to compose and email or reply sometimes the page will load with errors and PLUS the tool bar for editing my message (with like larger text, colour, emoticons, etc) will: A.) Not show up!! or B.) No VISIBLE icons will show up but there will be a section for tool options and if i click on an area it will let me do the operation but I can't see it until i click on it!
so please, please tell me what might be the issue and how I can fix this.

and if you need anymore info let me know!

Thank you very much.

What is your recommended action when your hotmail is sending spam mail to everyone?
i heard Skype associating hotmail can be one at fault, probably some bot.
(closing hotmail account might not work either)

Sounds like 4 tracking cookies were at fault,
discovered after trying another antispyware other than Malwarebytes.
(what i find weird is: how could these tracking cookies not be removed by ccleaner)

A:Hotmail sending spam mail

I doubt that tracking cookies were to blame.

CCleaner will leave cookies that are associated with your Favorites/Bookmarks if you tell it to.

If the SPAM was sent to those that you have listed in your Hotmail account contacts, then it sounds like someone or something gained access to that account. One solution might be to change your password and not keep contacts in the account. Keep contacts in a separate document - then copy/paste as needed. I know that is not convenient, but it has worked for some users that I support. (They came up with the idea. I did not suggest it to them. It has worked for them.)

The more e-mails people forward around, the greater the chances are that their e-mail address will be harvested. (But that does not give the bad guys your list of ALL contacts - unless you forwarded something to ALL contacts.) Sometimes you will see a list of e-mail addresses in the body of the forwarded e-mail. Some e-mail forwards bounce around for years. If the e-mail passes thru a compromised e-mail server, then those e-mail addresses can get harvested. SPAM can be sent using any/all of those harvested e-mail addresses as the fake/spoofed sender address.

You might want to create a post in the security sub-forum and let them help you scan your computer.

I was given a KOCOM digital camera with a Photosuite 3 SE disk to go with it. The pictures turn out fine but Hotmail won't send any of the pictures or attachments when I want to. The files are BMP files and I seem to be unable to send them via any media. Hotmail says there is an internal error when I try to send them and today it attached almost immediatley and then when I clicked send nothing happened. The size for one photo is the maximum I can send but it won't send. Is there any way I can convert these files into a better format or what? Any suggestions?

A:MGI Photosuite 3 SE and Hotmail sending problems

Try saving them as JPG. Set the quality high – at least 8. Your files will be about 1/10th their size as BMP.

I would leave them in BMP if that is what the camera is putting out for archiving and certainly for working on them in PhotoSuite. I have an “e-mail JPG” folder just for images I converted to JPG (same as JPEG) for e-mail and posting.

Hello,

I have just had my Hotmail send out a mass amount of spam emails, with links to webpages. I am assuming that either:

a) my account has been hacked
b) my computer has a security vulnerability that has been taken advantage of, or
c) I have a virus.

I have changed my password in case my account was hacked.

I access my Hotmail regularily from both home and the office, so if it is option B or C, I am currently on my home computer and testing that machine. I also regularily use MSN Messenger from my work computer. I have not been to work since I noticed the emails being sent from my Hotmail account to see if there is anything odd happening with my Messenger or not.

Any help regarding what is causing the problem, and how I can fix it or increase my security to prevent it from happening is greatly appreciated!

Hi. I'm at something of a wit's end. I've had a situation for a bout a week where my Hotmail account has sent multiple emails to various members of my contacts list without my permission. I have run multiple Spyware/Malware removal tools to no avail and have Microsoft Security Essentials installed with definitions up-to-date.

My mum asked me today, why was I sending her spam mail and true enough, I checked my hotmail account and I've sent out 2 spam emails with links to a website.

In a panic I immediately changed my password and started virus scanning.
I have a paid NOD32 running on my machine, I also did a check with spybot and malwarebytes and all they found were some tracking cookies.
I also did a scan just before christmas with pandascan online scanner and that found nothing but cookies.

Now the only thing that's changed been then and christmas was me receiving a reconditioned Iphone 4, which has turned into a bit of a saga, the phone was sold by a reputable store chain, but when I tried to activate it on the 3 network, they told me the phone had been registered as "lost" so it had been blocked. I synced this phone up with my machine and itunes account before the truth came out.
Whether there's a connection I don't know.

I'm running windows 7 64-bit, but I did run gmer, most of the options were greyed out, but it didn't report anything suspicious.

I'm greatful for any help, I need to know how they got into my hotmail account

So far it's happened 3 times, each time it has I've ran malwarebytes and spybot to remove anything its found several times, but still it keeps happening, They seem to be sending links like this one 'hxxp://whereismaxnow.com/grc/rounds/reports/tmp/409/trade.html' and a zip file to everyone in my contacts.

Hello. Recently, my hotmail account sent random emails to my contacts. This has happened before with me and I changed my password, and it was fixed but it is happening again now.

First step I took was contacted hotmail...and they looked into my running processes and told me: under the "user name", if it doesn't show your name, then someone is controlling your computer or in other words, they are running something on your machine. The technician pointed out a few processes:

1. atieclxx.exe
2. csrss.exe
3. winlogin.exe
4. VESMgrSub.exe

I googled these and some sites say they are malware/trojan and others say they are part of the computer.

So, in the end my questions are:
1. how did hotmail account sent those emails randomly?
2. Are these processes "ok" or are they really a threat to the computer?
3. If they are, what should I do to remove them.

Note: I do have Norton Anti-Virus software running.

Good afternoon everyone! I have both a Hotmail (live.com) email account, as well as, the email account(s) provided free by my ISP (Cox Communications).I would like to inquire if there are any methods/programs I could utilize so that if I receive a new email in my Hotmail account (while offline, for example)...I would be alerted via either some icon on the Taskbar and/or sound generated?Thank you for your time and any information!

A:Hotmail email account; any ways to be alerted when a new email arrives?

@ Moderators/Admins: This topic may be CLOSED for comment! It obviously was of no interest to anyone, and I managed to locate some helpful assistance in another forum! Thanks anyway!
