Q: share access Error code : 0X80004005 Unspecifed Error

Hi,
We have some shared folder from "Windows Server 2008 R2" server. I am trying to access a share folder called "Test" (\\abc\test) from a Windows 7 Professioanl 32 bit Edition and received the below error.
"share access Error code : 0X80004005 Unspecifed Error"
I am able to open \\abc\test from Windows XP Professional SP3 Machien.
I tried the below troubleshooting steps from Windows 7 Professional Desktop
1. nslookup 10.0.0.5
Server : test.def.com
Address : 10.0.0.6
Name : abc.def.com
2. Mapped Network Drive \\abc\test and i am able to open.
It was working without mapping the shared folder earlier. Please let me know the solution to open
\\abc\test with out mapping.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I would like to suggest you try the following steps to see what the result is:

1.
Disable the firewall temporarily for a test.
2.
Try to disable IP v6.
How to disable IP version 6 (IPv6) or its specific components in Windows 7, in Windows Vista,
in Windows Server 2008 R2, and in Windows Server 2008
3.
disabled Requiresecuritysignature on Windows 2008 under lanmanserver:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters\Requiresecuritysignature registry value is set to 0,

and on Windows client under lanmanworkstation:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanworkstation\Parameters\Requiresecuritysignature registry entry is set to 0.Alex Zhao

Hello,
These days when I try to open a shared folder in other machines(including XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003/2008) from my own Windows 7 Ultimate pc, I get a Network Error dialog saying:

Windows cannot access \\machine\sharedfolder, error code 0x80004005, unspecified error.
It aslo failed with IP.  And I have disable the Firewall
But the other XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008 machines can reach each other and they even can open the shared fodler from my Windows 7.
It's too strange. Maybe you can give me some useful suggestion.
Thanks.

In case this helps... I was having a similar problem on a new laptop (Toshiba) with Windows 7 Home Premium using wifi.  Accessing a share on an XP desktop "suddenly" stopped working.
It appears the issue is related to the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter, which was evidently installed with a driver update around the first week of April.  Even though the adapter is disabled, it appears that any changes that you make to the
settings on your "normal" wireless adapter also need made on this one.  For me, this included enabling NetBIOS over TCP/IP (under IPv4 settings) and ensuring IPv6 was disabled.  Again, THE INTERFACE IS DISABLED, but these changes still
"magically" made my sharing work immediately.

I'm so tired of this error that I could I throw my computer down the window. So the thing is I'm trying to share my mobile connection from my computer to my xbox (which has worked before without any problems) but now when I click on properties on my mobile connection on the share tab to check the "allow sharing" box this error: 0x80004005 along with "undefined error" comes up.

Which seems unsolvable, think I've turned google inside out trying to find an solution. I've only found guys that got the exact same problem, but doesn't get any helping answers.

Sorry for my English, computer terms are a bit tricky to translate from Swedish.

P.S to avoid any unnecessary discussion about how I could want to share mobile connection to the xbox when it's only going to lag, it will not, it works like a dream when it chooses to work..

6. Type in exactly: rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk (and click OK)
(note: one space, after "rundll32.exe " also the Oo are two letter o's in "oobe"; capitals and comma are important)

7. Wait a couple of seconds (although you will Not see any change)

8. Restart your PC normally (Start - Shutdown - Restart - Ok)

9. You are now able to go to Normal Mode again (For another 30 days !!!)

10.Once in Normal mode you can go to Add Remove Programs and Uninstall SP3 if you want.

welcome to TSG.

Why are you using a third party defrag tool? The built-in windows one is generally better, as the OS is what has to access the data anyhow. Third party defraggers generally use a different algorithm and, as such, will make the OS think the drive is fragged. When that happens, the OS puts more strain on the HD.

As for O&O, however, I have no clue. If you can access it, maybe the app can't. Maybe change the path to the one on in program files. Again, I gotta state that I do not use third party defraggers.

I have a problem with windows validation and would really like some help.
I built a computer about a month ago, and installed a copy of Windows XP Professional. It is a legitimate disc not a pirate copy. I have also installed many software programs including AVG antivirus, Office etc

*

When I turned my computer on today it boots up but when I try to log in I get a popup saying:
*Windows Product Activation* This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?
I have the option of Yes or No. If I click No it goes back to the Log in Screen and I don’t get much further. If I click yes I get another pop up window saying:
*Windows Product Activation* A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for the computer. Error Code: 0x80004005.
This only lets me press okay and then I am back to square one. I can’t log into my account.
(I know I should have activated before)

Licwmi.dll
Wpabaln.exe

When I try to use Windows Update I get this error code. What does this mean and how can I fix it!?

A:Error Code: 0x80004005

Hi

A 0x80004005 is a typical warning indicating you have no Internet connection (while you may have) because the update service is having problems establishing a perfect two-way communication with Microsoft servers.

There are reasons, but first some questions:

Is your XP genuine and validated?
Do you run a proxy?
Any malware/viruses that you've scanned for recently? (best to do so)
Do you have a good network connection or is it patchy or with problems from the ISP side?

i need help!! i'm at wits end with error code 0x80004005

im working on a Dell Inspiron 1150 with windows XP Home. basically, the product key files got removed in the process of cleaning up the hard drive. i did the steps shown on the website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914232
when i got to the part where i had to type the expand commands, i kept getting an ACCESS DENIED message after each command. (for example: EXPAND licwmi.dl_C:\WINDOWS\System32, then id press ENTER, the message would read: ACCESS IS DENIED)

i went ahead through all the steps but i still cant log on to normal mode. i get to the logon screen, put the password, and it gives me an empty message box (it just has a red X). after i hit OK on it, it begins to start up but immediately logs me back out.

i can still get onto safe mode but thats about it. i run the registry cleaner on CCleaner. I get an ActiveX/COM Issue on regwiz.dll, licwmi.dll, licdll.dll, licwmi.dll, licwmi.dll and a Missing MUI Reference on LaunchPad.exe. the fix for these is to delete them, but i dont know if i should.

well this is my dilemma. i hope somebody can help me. i really need it. thanks.

Welcome to Seven Forums mrfreezzzz. Is this a problem that just started, and do you know when if so? If it just started, you can try a System Restore point from just before it began

System Restore

If no help, try a clean start to see if there is a conflict

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

You might try and edit the tag information in WMP

Add or edit media information in Windows Media Player

If you can edit there, it likely isn't a file permission issue, but more an Explorer issue. You could try on another user and see if the problem occurs on that user as well. If it does not occur on another user, you could try and fix the corrupted user

Fix a corrupted user profile

If none of the above help, you should also run the System File Checker

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Did you make any changes just before the problem began? Installed any new programs? Ran any optimization programs, etc?

Would you be able to copy the file to another windows 7 PC and see if you can edit it there?

A Repair Install is also an option if the problem exists on all users, and nothing else helps.

First a bit about me - so you know roughly how to pitch replies...

I used to be able to fly NT4, if only by the seat of my pants, but with 2k, I dropped out to Linux.

Now the problem: an in-law got his computer eaten by a virus, probably imported by one of his kids. I'm supposed to know about computers so the problem got onto my desk!

Starting point: I could log in as the guy (no p/w) but there was nothing on his desktop except the wallpaper.

I could run stuff, but only by the 3 finger salute, then using the 'Start new application' tab in task manager.

First off I ran the Norton anti-virus software he had installed. That found 4 infections, 3 that were automatically fixed, but the other one needed 'manual' intervention - so I intervened manually.

Next I re booted (same 'nothing' outcome) and ran the anti-virus again: nothing found that time, so I thought is was safe to move on.

I used the XP (Home, inc. SP3) CD to do a repair.

That seemed to work, but booting now requires a check on the (100% valid) product number.

This is where Catch 22 strikes!

On my network, I use explicit IPs - so I know what I'm trying to debug - but, I think, his system uses DHCP(? - automatic assignment of IP numbers), so it wasn't a big surprise when XP couldn't connect to M$. I took the box back to his place, in the hope that whatever settings he had had would work there.

No such luck. I still got the 0x80004005 error.

Since the in-law is computer illiterate, ... Read more

Everytime try to burn an ISO file to a blank CD, I always set it to verify before finishing the disc image burning process and I always get the warning that the disc image didn't burn successfully and it has Error Code: 0x80004005.

I've tried burning disc image on a number of blank CD's but to my dismay, they all get wasted upon getting this error. This doesn't usually come before, unless the discs I used were of poor quality. I've tried different discs with different brands, different ISOs and just now a re-writable CD to no avail. I've been using the built in ISO disc image burner on Windows 7 and I also tried ImgBurn but they both report some sort of error on the disc verification process before the completion of the disc burning. I don't know how this is supposed to be. I was gonna burn some Linux ISOs but they just won't burn well.

A:ISO disc image burning always displaying Error Code: 0x80004005

There are 3 points of failure: The burning program, the disks, the burner.

You test to see if you get the same error using a different burning program (check).
You test to see if you get the same error using different media (check).
You test by using a different optical drive.

Optical drives are cheap (both meanings) and the heads can be knocked out of alignment too easily. Once that happens there is little to no chance of repairing it. It is just easier to get a new drive.

EDIT: be sure to try cleaning the drive. Use compressed air or vacuum to try and get any dust or hair out of the compartment (carefully). NEVER try to clean the lenses by touching them.

Hi all,
I fixed a stubborn networking issue and hopefully someone else can benefit from all the frustration I have experienced over the last few days.

Some background. This was a workgroup network not a domain client/server.
Also, Windows HomeGroup wizards were not used - just accounts and passwords.
I have five NAS boxes for storage and backup. These NAS boxes use CIFS or SMB file systems. IP address are assigned through DHCP. It is a very simple yet secure workgroup net. Everything was OK then it hit the fan.
I installed a new router after the old one failed. I powered down the entire network, cabled up and configured the new router. On my old Vista notebook PC all five NAS devices were OK. In Vista, Windows Explorer, I could access all the folders and files
on all the NAS boxes.
However on all the other systems, Windows 7 or Windows 8, I would get errors. In Windows Explorer I could see "\\MyNAS\Share\" but cannot navigate to it.

I would get an error:

Can you manually format the disk during installation, but without using gparted? If it can be formatted manually, how does the unattended installation work when you try it again?Arthur Xie - MSFT

Error Type:
(0x80004005)
Unspecified error
/1stsite/AddSheet.asp, line 29

What does this error message mean?
Here is line 29:
objRS.Open "Names", objConn, adOpen, adLock, adCmdTable

My values are defined as so:

Dim adOpen, adLock, adCmdTable, objConn, objRS

adOpen = 0
adLock = 1
adCmdTable = 2

set objRS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
set objConn = server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
objConn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;"&_
"Data Source=C:\MYDB.mdb;"&_
"Persist Security Info=False"

The table exists, database defined by objConn also exists, and I have exhaused my own diagnostic skills, can anyone help?

Ok, Ive realised what it was, some of my labels were defined under the same name as default ASP variables, therefore it was throwing a wobbly at having 2 labels of the same name denoting different functions, I have now renamed everything to have a unique name and it is now co-operating. I hape someone else finds this useful

Hello all,

I have a problem with Windows Update agent on Windows 7 SP1 enterprise.
We are using Configuration Manager 1606 and Windows 7 SP1 and about 140 computers works without any problem.
On the other 10 computers I got the following error message in the windowsupdate.log:
WARNING: SyncUpdates failure, error = 0x8024400D, soap client error = 7, soap error code = 300, HTTP status code = 200
WARNING: SOAP Fault: 0x00012c
WARNING:     faultstring:Fault occurred
WARNING:     ErrorCode:InvalidParameters(7)

I've tried several actions although none does any help. Here is the list of actions:
- upgrade windows update agent to the latest version
- windows update agent reset by this instructions https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components
- empty Temporary Internet files
- check the rules and blocked traffic on windows firewall and physical firewall between server and workstation vlan
- sfc /scannow

It looks like significant Windows 7 error, although reinstalling is not my option.

Thanks for any help!

I have a small office that has a server, running Server 2008, that acts as a file server. There are several shares on the server that give access to our 5 users.

We have 5 workstations that all run Windows 7. Each workstation has the same 5 user accounts so any user can work on any of the 5 workstations.

This setup has been working perfectly for years. Now all of a sudden, one machine has starting giving the error 0x80070035 when trying to access the server shares. It can access any other workstation on the network, just not the server. It doesn't matter which of the 5 user accounts you log in as, you still receive this error. All 5 user accounts can access the server from any of the other workstations.

I've also tried entering the server name or the ip address in Internet Explorer on the problem workstation and am also unable to access the server this way.

I would really appreciate any suggestions to get this fixed.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a "server" that ran win 7 and which I now updated to Win 10. On this server, there is truecrypt installed and a batch file which I call from a remote computer using psexec. This batch file mounts a truecrypt volume and shares this drive on the network. Sharing is done with a lines like this:

if exist E: (net share E=E:\ /GRANT:Name,Full >nul)

However, in win 10 this doesn't work anymore. The problem is that the command

net share E=E:\

can only be issued from an administrator-cmd now. Is there a way to allow using the "net share E=E:" command from a non-admin-commandline (I am hoping for a registry key...)?
Thanks a lot!

Whenever I attempt to update or correct mp3 details in Windows Explorer I ALWAYS get this message. This problem is as old as Windows 7 and still no valid explanation or solution. BTW, I refuse to install any type of Apple software ESPECIALLY iTunes as it
rewrites the registry entries for ALL optical drives rendering them unusable to the point they are even removed from Windows Explorer! I am sick and tired of this constant bull coming from Apple and Microsoft. WinXP had no problems whatsoever in this area
so I guess that explains why the supposedly college educated programmers at Microsoft broke it. They seem to excel in that area with ALL of their software and misclassified updates like the barrage of Get WinX crap they constantly claimed was "Important"
when it was anything but. The problem doesn't exist in Win 8, 8.1 or 10 so why in Win 7?

System Info:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 (6.1.7601)
32 GB RAM
AMD FX-8370 Eight core CPU 4.0 GHz

Hi,
I have a small LAN with five PC's (two Windows 10 and three Windows 7).  I have assigned all of these PC's to the same Workgroup (which I named "MAIN").  All five PC's are set to Obtain an IP address automatically.  My wireless router
assigns each PC with an address in the range 192.168.2.x.  The router itself is at at address 192.168.2.1.  I have created shares on all five PC's by right-clicking on the folder I'd like to share and choosing Properties.  On the Sharing tab,
I chose "Advanced Sharing" and clicked the checkbox for "Share this folder".  I assigned it a share name and added Full Control permissions for both the local Administrators group and also for one particular user (who happens to be
a member of the local administrators group).  On the Security tab, I also assigned Full Control permissions to the local Administrators group and for the same particular user as on the Sharing tab.  In Control Panel | Network and Sharing Center |
Advanced Sharing Settings, for my current profile (which happens to be work), I have Network Discovery ON, File & Printer Sharing ON, Public Folder Sharing OFF, Media Streaming OFF, File Sharing connections set to 128-bit encryption, password protected
sharing ON, and I have selected "Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections".  I have used these same settings on all five PC's and my shares work just fine on four out of the fi... Read more

Hello, before let you know about my problem, sorry about my english.
I have a serius problem with my Windows XP (not authentic). A few days ago something happens with my MSN, forced me to update my XP to Service Pack 2. Big problem because as I told you, my Win is not authentic (a copy). I found a program to validate my XP and I could install the service pack2 without any problem, but when I restart my pc gives me this fatal error, "One problem not allow Windows to check the validation of the licence on this pc. Codigo de error: 0x80004005". Of course, I don't want to format the hard disk. I can't restart in a safe way eather.

Note: I have another partition on this hard disk, with windows installed and running normally, so I can see the other part with my Windows Explorer.

If someone can help me, I will very happy.
Thank you very mich for your time
Daro

I've been having an issue with having to wait for the remote scheduled tasks to view shares on other computers. Very frustrating- Earlier I was informed there was a quick fix but I got mixed reviews...I made the change in registry> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace and deleted the {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} key...When accessing Windows Vista and 7 users remotely I noticed an error which wasn't an issue on my end and it resolved my issue accessing winxp users MUCH faster.

I opened Task Scheduler, I noticed that status of Elevator scheduled task was 0xFFFFFFFF – this translates to ERROR_UNHANDLED_ERROR.
I tried to enable it but it still shows Elevator (unhandled) in history but the the scheduled tasks are loading... I'm afraid to mess with it again. Should I just try to put the key back again???

A:Solved: Trying to speed up Share View (xp tweak) "error code 0xFFFFFFFF"

You should never make any changes to a computer that you cannot easily undo.

If the error appeared after making a registry change, then restoring the undamaged registry would seem a logical course of action. Other changes could have been made in the registry in entries that rely on that one, so a whole, undamaged registry should be restored for best results.
