I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello everyone,i'll try to give the most details i can.I just bought a 2nd hand t470s, and started by reinstalling windows from a usb bootable win10 i had at home.Everything worked fine except for the wifi card : i dosnt show anywhere. i cant see it on the device manager, its not greyed out nor hidden. Everything up to date, from windows update, to single driver update from the device manager, the intel update tool or even all the lenovo support drivers.I finally asked the support for a clean win10 pro update using my serial number. reinstalled everything clean, but still no wifi card detected. I switch with a killer 1535 from my other laptop : the ac 8265 worked on my other laptop, but i couldnt get the killer 1535 to work on my 470s (i could see it in the devicer manager but kept getting greyed out..).I spent the last 4 days on it and i feel like i read all the google pages that couldve helpt me.

Ok so last night we had a power cut while my computer was on (never good). Anyway instead of restarting i just decided to go to bed. I wake up this morning only to find out that my wireless connection is broken.

As far as i can tell my pci card that i use to connect is a no-name brand. But has been working fine for many months now etc etc... I also have a (semi-broken) wireless dongle that i have also tried (by safecom).

So too the point. Using the pci card i first try using the third party software that came with it. I press enable to the netgear network and it just sits there with a red tick next to it (usually changes to a green). Thinking this to be odd i try using the windows zero config. I try to connect to the network and it pauses while saying "detecting network type" then i get the message "unable to connect to network, it may be out of range try refreshing" but it always stays in the network list and i have no problems there.

I take out my old wireless dongle. It works just the solder connecting the USB connector and the card is broken so i have to prop it up at an angle to get it to work. So after installing this again i try connecting only to get the same message. So i take out my 30m Ethernet cable and run it all around the house to the router and it works. But as you can probably tell, this isnt convenient.

This is pretty much the problem, i can try on another machine to connect later (but a few are down for other reasons, but i haven... Read more

Hey there! I hope you can help me with a problem. One of our L470's stopped reading simcards all of a sudden (Sierra EM7455 LTE modem). After opening a case, sending the notebook in, getting the mainboard replaced and setting it up with Windows 10 Enterprise x64 again, that modem still won't work!I hope you can help me here, because at this point i don't want another struggle with the repair center. ISSUE:After a clean install of Win 10 Enterprise x64 and the newest official drivers and firmware, including the BIOS of course, the Windows 10 devicemanager doesn't seem to find the LTE-Modem.The Sierra EM7455 driver from Lenovo won't install. The newest driver directly from Sierra is able to be installed but the firmware won't because it can't find the modem. Driver and firmware are two separate packages.I already checked the BIOS. WAN is enabled under 'I/O'.What else can I try? Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I'm having a problem with a network card and its driving me mad! I've installed the card (Dynamode NC-100TX-R) and Windows detects it. The drivers they supplied on the floppy were Realtek RTL8139 Drivers which were for Win 95/Win 98 and I have XP so I went on the Realtek site and downloaded the latest drivers for the RTL8139. When I installed the drivers everything seemed fine until I plugged in the cable. All it says is "Network Cable Unplugged" even when the lights at the back of the card are flashing indicating a connection. Everything on the other end of the cable is fine and I've checked all the settings and they seem right. Can anyone help?

hello hello

I am trying to setup a network. I got a new laptop recently. And i bought a router the other day. But whenever i go to 'my network location' there's nothing there except ''Make a new connection'

A friend told me it shouldn't be difficult to get internet on my new laptop as well. ''perhaps you still need to activate/enable your network card'' he told me on the phone. But I just can't find anything. I have tried the ''new hardware wizard' but to no avail.

So i thought maybe I dont have a netwok card. afterall , I am a computer illiterate. But the acquaintance in question assured me I had one, because '' you have plugged the ethernet cable in your laptop + router, haven't you?'' ofcourse I have, and the router's led is glowing. however it doesnt blink, because there's no internet connection yet.
Do you guys happen to know how to activate, or at least see my network card thing? I really feel bad about calling the friend in question , asking him over to help me. He has helped me several times already. The time my pc got infected with trojans, and with my dvd burner drive as well. Moreover, he makes it sound so easy.

My Compaq presario laptop which is about 4-5 years old but like new, ran great until my kid did "nothing" to it and it crashed, i tried everything and resorted to re-installing windows XP, i also downloaded on another pc and installed SP 2. When i plug in either my wired or wireless network adapter cards, i get the following error and can't seem to get it to coreect. The error is:

The device"Texas Instrument PCI-1410
cardbus controller" has detected a Cardbus card in its slot, but the firmware on
the system is not configured to allow the cardbus to controller to be run in
cardbus mode. The operaing system will currently accept only...." the rest of
the error is cut off, I am totally frustrated.

Any suggestions? I downloaded and installed any updates from the HP/Compaq site. I notice on the web that this PC often has this error after a re-install but can't find any solutions to it, only people trying to solve the problem.

If you can help me out that would be great, other than no net the PC is working as good as ever. The light on the adapters does not come on.

I recently lost everything to some sort of virus so I was forced to reformat and reisntall windows xp pro. After installing I can't access the internet, when I diagnose the connection issue with IE it says,

"Windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine. If you are connecting to the Internet through your phone line using a dial-up connection you will need to contact your internet service provider. Otherwise please make sure that the network card drivers are installed properly or contact the manufacturer of your personal computer for further assistance."

I'm connected to a stable connection through an ethernet cable to my router, and nothing. I no longer have the driver recovery CD's that came with my computer, and I followed the advice of another person on this site that came across a similar problem, but we have different motherboards so I couldn't get the drivers to cooperate. My computer info is listed in my profile, I have an ABIT-AA8XE motherboard. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Also let me know if you need any more information because I'm not super savvy with this stuff, but I can do my best.

Hello,

recently bought a T470s, very happy with it so far. Tried out USB Type-C charging from my powerbank and it doesn't react. Is it the cable, the power bank or is it possible to charge through powerbank at all?

Powerbank 10000 mAh, 3.6 V, 36 Wh
Input 5.0 V/2.0 A
Output 5.1 V/2.1 A

Cable - random 2$ Male USB 2.0 - Male Type-C adapter

PS. If it's not possible to charge via powerbank, why would you give it a type-C port at all... Nobody is ever gonna use it for type-C AC power adapter, cause the port is on the right hand side... *palmface*

Solved!

A:T470s USB Type-C charging via powerbank?

USB-C supports many voltages and there is a protocol for the power supply and the device to negotiate the requirements.  You have a laptop that needs 20V and a power bank that only outputs 5 volts.  If you look at your charger that came with your laptop, it can output 5V for your phone or 20V for your laptop.  (also 9V and 15V)  You need a better or smarter powerbank

Hello,

I have a Inspiron 1520 with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini Card. Lately I noticed that if I left the laptop on (or maybe just restart, not sure, don't want to test it right now) and let it go to sleep and then turn it back on, it won't detect any wireless networks. I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it can detect networks again, I don't know what to do. I know its not the router, since it can't detect other networks either which there are a few around. I have this laptop for almost a year now. It worked just fine till recently. I think it is the network card, the driver or the hardware, I don't know, but while it just start up, it takes forever for the wireless to start detecting again. Anyone know why and what can I do about it. (BTW, I reformatted in hope it will fix it, it didn't).

Hi

I bought an Acer 2301 laptop a few months ago. It has an Acer IPN 2220 wireless LAN card. A few days ago I visited my brother who has a wireless network set up in his house ? DLINK ADSL broadband router. He uses the wireless network for 1 Pc and 2 laptops. As I had my laptop I tried to connect to this network but couldn?t. I tried finding wireless networks and it said there were no wireless networks found in range. I disabled and re-enabled the LAN card. I uninstalled and re-installed it. I disabled my firewall. All to no avail. The network is not running encrypted and my brother said he had no trouble connecting all his wireless cards. Can anyone explain why my wireless LAN card couldn?t find anything?

Thanks

A:Wireless Lan Card Cant Detect Network

there could be several reasons for this, the card could have simply had its "radio" turned off. Most internal cards have a switch function to turn on and off their ability to detect networks. This is usually either a special button or a key combo. Check the BIOS, the card may have to be enabled in there as well as in device manager. Some systems I've encountered come with wireless disabled in the BIOS as default. Also, are you sure your brother's router was "broadcasting" its SSID. Most routers have the ability to turn this off. This causes you to have to know the SSID and config the card manually.

Hi, here is an e-mail I sent to Belkin tech support ... but I haven't heard back so I thought I'd try here. Can anyone help me?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a Belkin F5D6020 ver2 wireless adapter on my IBM 233mhz laptop running WIN98se. I want to connect to my existing wired network. I have a cable modem connected to my Belkin F5D6231-4 router. I have 2 PCs connected to the router via ethernet cable. The wired part of the network is working beautifully. All wired PCs can talk to each other. When I have my wired network adapter installed on the laptop, it works great too.

I installed the installation software on the laptop using the EASY option. I plug in the adapter card when prompted and Windows installs the drivers. My computer doesn’t ask me to restart so I restart manually. The monitor utility comes up and, after a minute, a warning message displays ‘The access point you are attempting to access does not appear to exist. Please select the new one’. The prompts on the utility screen read:

Profile name: Default
Operating mode: infrastructure
Channel = 3 (greyed out)
SSID = ANY
Tx Rate = Auto
MAC address = 00-30-BD-D2-BF-06
status = scanning

There is no signal strength or link quality. I click on the site survey tab and there is nothing listed. I click rescan and still nothing. The green link LED on the card is flashing. The WLAN light on the router is solid green.

On my PC web browser I go to http://192.168.2.1/ to access the router set up utility.

Try going to Safe Mode, hit F8 repeatedly when the computer first starts and it'll take you to a menu screen where you can choose between SafeMode, SafeMode w/ command prompt, etc. Choose safemode. That'll load up the bare minimum of drivers and such so that the computer will turn on. Then, uninstall any drivers for non-working devices and reinstall them. If that doesn't help, run SFC (system file checker) from the Windows CD. Go to the Run menu, type in SFC and hit Enter.

I would also set the BIOS to defaults (the way it came from the factory) and see if that helps. Lastly, try the disk check utility from the Run menu, "chkdsk /f". Don't know how that might help, but it wouldn't hurt.

This is the netbook which I used at school the past 4 years, and when I graduated, we were allowed to keep the netbook. The default Acer OS was reinstalled, which was incredibly slow and had tonnes of bloatware on it, so I installed my own copy of Windows 7 using a USB. After the install was done, there was no network connection, so when I went to connect it to my home network, it said "No wireless network devices installed" which is complete bullshit. Its used a wireless network card built into it to connect to the internet every day for the last 4 years. I went to connect it to my router through an ethernet cord, but it also refused to acknowledge this cord was plugged into it. I then tried it with a different ethernet cord which was using my desktop to connect my Xbox 360 to the internet. I checked the device manager, and there wasn't any tab showing called "network devices". However, under "other devices", it says there is an "Ethernet controller", a "Network controller" and a "PCI simple communications controller". Anyone know of a program that will check any type of system and give an indicator of the network card installed. I know alot of manufacturers put out their own individual ones that work with some cards but not others but I was looking for one that would be all inclusive. I work in an environment that has many different brands and models and it would be nice to have 1 utility to determine what the machine has internally. Bootable disk or installed program (windows) does not matter.

Hi guys, I'm new here.

I've had some virus trouble and decided to reformat and reinstall windows. Well after I reinstalled, windows didn't detect that I had a sound card, or network card installed. I've looked up a little bit of information on it, but it's been rather confusing and I'm a bit scared to continue messing with my computer with out knowing what I'm doing.

I read up that I need to install some chipset drivers so that my motherboard can recognize the different cards? I downloaded a program to tel me what my chipset is, but it gave me a long number and I didn't know which one to use. The chipset it gave me was i865p/pe/g/i848p. I downloaded some chipset and installed it, but when I restarted my computer it said that it couldn't detect an OS. Some how since then my computer can boot properly and can load up windows.

So I guess what my question is, what drivers do I need to download for my computer? My mother board is a Think Centre M50 818931u. If you need anymore information about my pc let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Bloodeyes

A:Windows Xp doesn't detect network or sound card after reinstalling and formatting

Well, there are several ways to approach this.

I keep a junky USB network card, and it's drivers on a thumbdrive, and everytime I reinstall XP, first thing I do is install SP3 standalone, and the second thing I do is install the USB network card and run Windows Update. Most or all of the drivers for the motherboard (or "chipset") usually get installed this way. Saves time hunting for specific drivers for specific motherboards, because it is tedious and time-consuming sometimes.

If this is an OEM machine (Gateway, Dell, HP, etc...) you can find the motherboard drivers via the support page of the web-site of the company that manufactured it. Just run the model number of the computer on their search engine, and the drivers will be there.

If the machine is custom, there is always a silk-screened model number on the surface of the motherboard, that will tell you what model it is. You can then usually find drivers for that model on the motherboard manufacturers support page.

These "driver finding programs" that I see seem like big fat scams, trying to get you to register, pay, read ads, recieve spam and after spending a lot of time, you still don't have the drivers. I wouldn't waste time with any of them, and have always been able to find the drivers I need.

It's a skill, and takes practice. One component of this is the ability to see where the time-wasters are (such as "register for our free driver finding service"), and where the... Read more

I am installing an EM7455 WWAN card in my P70. The User Guide states that the SIM used by the system is a Micro-card. When I called Verizon Wireless to obtain a 4G-LTE card, they could not find the P70 in their database. However, they said they knew the size and shipped me a SIM card. Unfortunately, it was the incorrect SIM-card size (apparently there are multiple) so I have to obtain the correct card from a Verizon store when the WWAN arrives from China. The model number of the card needs to end in 3FF-A. It would have been really convenient if the Verizon SIM card was orderable on the Lenovo website at the same time as I ordered the EM7455 from the Accessories storefront.

3 computer network. Linksys router daisychained with a switch, which is chained to a wireless access point.

Everything works fine apart from the one computer. It is not getting an IP from the router. It does not get the internet connection. It cannot share files with the other two computers. Basically acts as though it's not even plugged into the network.

So I go for the obvious and assume it's a wire or bad plug, and try hooking the rogue's end up to my laptop. Laptop works fine, gets net and can share files. I check the NIC and it's detected and working properly.

Must be a software issue. Windows XP Pro is not happy. It's a fresh install after a format. I've run the wizard with the 'connects through a residential gateway' as opposed to the 'connects directly to the internet'. I tried the latter but it says cannot complete setup.

The two lights on the card are blinking. The lights on the router corresponding to the rogue computer light up just the the others. I've tried moving it to the switch; no dice.

What could be the problem?

I have an X1 Yoga 20FQ with Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit and a Sierra Wireless EM7455 WAN card that came with the unit from Lenovo and an AT&T micro SIM card (also in the unit when it came from Lenovo). I also have the latest Lenovo software for the Sierra Wireless card (v. 7.47.4743.0105) from the Lenovo web site. The WAN card will connect to HPSA on AT&T (using the "default APN" and "broadband" in the Win 10 settings) but it will not connect to AT&T LTE. The AT&T web site at https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1218316 says to use NXTGENPHONE as the APN, but when I input that as the APN the card does not see it at all. I know that NXTGENPHONE is the LTE APN because that is the APN that my cell phone uses for its LTE data connection. AT&T tech support told me I the Windows 10 and NXTGENPHONE APN settings are correct and the AT&T diagnostics show I an LTE connection is available to me.I realize that there can be sources for this problem (Win 10 or AT&T) but I thought I would ask here to see whether anyone has experienced the problem or has a solution.Thanks.

What operating system is on this machine?

Do you have administrator rights on the machine?

The machine's IP address may have been assigned statically for the work place. From the command prompt, type ipconfig /all and see what the ip address is.

I have an old ISA (8 bit???) Network/Modem card that I pulled out of an old 486 machine. I want to install it on another old system that I have but I don't know where to get a driver for the card. Their is nothing on the card to tell me who manufaturers it except for a 'hp' symbol on the front of the card. It is using a VLSI Chipset. It is a very old card and would like to be able to use it.

Is there another way to find out the maker of this card or can I get maybe a generic driver if that is possible???

A:Old ISA Network/Modem Combo Card HELP!!!!!!!!!

Look for any numbers or letters that aren't near any of the chips. Sometimes they can be hard to find, but a model number is probably located on the card itself. Once you find it, search for it with Google, and you should get a page with drivers relatively easily.

I have roadrunner with a Toshiba cable modem on Win98se everything has been fine until about a week ago the PC(network card) light on my modem shuts off and starts going on and off randomly. When im on Winxp and this happens it keeps saying network cable unplugged and then it goes back on and like a minute later happens again. I tried switching the ethernet cable thinking it was the cable but it still happens its so random i have no idea whats the problem i even tried installing new drivers for the SMC ez network card i have still doesnt fix the problem, also on WINXp when all the lights are on i still cant seem to connect to any websites or access anything. Only thing i can do is keep rebooting till my PC light is stable and then its only a matter of time before it starts bugging out again. Any Help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

A:Network Card/Cable Modem?????

Hello!
I have cable also with W98 and SMC EZ card. Have you called your ISP help line? I have a different modem but have had a similar problem. Also, did you go into start/run and type winipcgf [enter]? When the dialog box opens, click "More Info">>. Near the middle in the white window, click the drop down arrow and you should be able to select your SMC adapter. *Do Not select PPP Adapter* Make a note of your IP and default gateway. Click "release all"; the IP's should zero out. Then click renew all. They should reset to their original settings. If they reset to different IP's, especially a "default" 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, or won't reset then try to power cycle the modem. I don't know about your model of modem- only mine. On mine I power down the computer, pyhsically remove the power cord and cable in from the modem. Wait about a minute, reconnect the modem, then reboot. Try this 3 or 4 times. If none of this works then definitely call your ISP, which I recommend you do any way. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I bought a new P71 portable workstation with this WWAN card already installed and I've got a SIM card from Bell Mobility in Canada. The card seems to be activated but there is a very limited traffic. I ran the diagnostic and it says that there is a second PIN that need to be provided. I followed the instruction from my provider to unlock the SIM card, but the diagnostic is the same. I donwloaded the suggested driver from the Lenovo support page but the installer indicate that there is nothing to update. I'm looking for a new direction to look for to solve ths problem. Thanks Dominic

Whoo, me again.

My cousin's laptop is unable to connect to the internet (I made an earlier post about it suffering BSoDs). So, here's what I have discovered so far.

He has a modem, which leads to a wireless broadband router. The router is connected with his desktop computer directly. Neither his laptop or desktop can use the internet. His laptop reads that the signal is "Excellent", but no website is accessible, and trying to ping anything gives a message that the host name could not be found. Tried flushing the DNS and examining the hosts file for issues, but no results. His desktop also reads connected, but notes that the connection is incredibly weak. The desktop also gets ping fails because it could not find the host name.

Plugging the modem in the desktop directly provides internet at wonderful connection speed and happens to be what I'm using now to post this. His laptop says he's still at excellent connection, so apparently it can still find the router.

Plugging the modem directly with the laptop does not work at all. His laptop is unable to get a network address. Looks like the modem hates it or something.
So, what item in this list is the one experiencing problems, and what can I do about it?

A:Modem, Router, or the Laptop's Network Card

router: update firmware + reset and reconfigure
laptop: check device manager + update drivers

Comcast came by today and set up a cable modem today on one of my machines. It works perfectly on this machine, but when I plug the ethernet cable that connects from the modem into my other machine (a laptop), I can't connect to the internet. The browser can't connect, and I get nothing when I type "ping google" (I typed the full web address of google, but for some reason these forums won't let me post the full address here) into Command Prompt. I noticed that there is a solid orangish-reddish light that turns on on the network card when I plug the ethernet cable into the network card of my laptop, but the light is green when I plug the ethernet cable into the working machine's network card. On the laptop, I tried to "repair" the connection from the "Network Connections" window in the Control Panel, but it gives me an error message that says "Unable to renew IP address." I checked the properties of the connection (TCP/IP etc) on the laptop and all of the settings look identical to the settings of the working machine.

The laptop (that can't connect) is running Windows XP SP1, and the machine that can connect is running Windows XP SP2.

Any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks

A:Network Card & Cable modem problem

First off, ping the loopback of the laptop. Type PING 127.0.0.1 If that works then you know the NIC is OK. If not you have a problem with the NIC in the laptop.

Second, open up TCP/IP properties and make sure that Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS address automatically are set.

If that wont work try to uninstall the NIC in the laptop through device manager. Restart and let windows reinstall the NIC. mabye the driver is corrupt. Who knows. Even if Windows finds a driver, go to the website for the NIC maker or laptop manufacturer and get the newest driver and install that driver.

If none of that works then get a PC card NIC and try that. Ive had more than one NIC go el muncho on me in the past.

Good Luck.
