Q: Solved: How to fix Bf2 crash when joining a server

when joining a server you might have your game crash and go back to your desktop screen there is a simple salution to this, open task manager ctrl+alt+del then click on processes tab, find Bf2, right click it and select Set afinity make sure only cpu 0 is selected.
this is all you will need to do the down side to this is that you will have to do this every time you load the game. but for people that have this problem, Im afraid i have not come across any other salution.
good luck!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a little problem. I am running XP on a workstation and i need to join a domain on win2000 server. When i try it as usual (and as it is working on EVERY other my computer running also XP), i get immediately an error, that it canť reach the domain controller. I don't know why, because i get IP/DNS from the server as normal.
I suspect the comodo firewall blocking ut, but no message pops up, and no logs are saved.

Can anyone help? Its really only on this workstation, and there is

XP sp2, comodo, Spybot, SG, Avast

on every other computer (even with vista) it works, so i suppose the server is working fine.

Hello, I'm having trouble with trying to join my client computer to the server domain. My client is Windows 7 Professional and the server domain OS is Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. I tried the usual method of going to System-Change Settings-Change-and entering the domain name to join. However, I get the message saying:

An active directory domain controller (ad dc) for the domain sean.local could not be contacted. Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly.

I know for a fact that the domain name (sean.local) is correct. On my DC, I have Active Directory, DHCP and DNS installed. Its weird because I could ping the server IP just fine and get a response, but when I ping the domain name (sean.local) I do not get a response. I get a message saying "Ping request could not find host sean.local. Please check the name and try again."

I think the issue I'm having with not being able to join the domain has something to deal with the DNS server. I will post the network configurations for both the client and the server domain and hopefully we could get this client to finally join the domain once and for all. Thank you everyone for your help, I appreciate it.

*Both of these machines had their IP settings manually configured, not obtained automatically.*

Hello everyone, thanks for reading...

I am pulling my hair out over here, trying to figure out why the hell I can't connect to my wired network through my linksys router. It is working for every other computer in the house, both wireless and wired, and I, feeling rather dumb, cannot figure it out! I just finished re-formatting my computer with XP Professional today, and it was after this that I just can't get connected to my network. It may be that I haven't configured a connection for a LONG time, but I just can't figure it out. Do I need any kind of driver that didn't come with XP Professional? Btw, I also installed SP2 immediately after I installed XP Pro. I just happened to have a disk lying around...
Please give me a tip here! I'm sure it's something I am just overlooking, but I just can't figure it out! I have tried multiple times with the default wizards in XP, but they just aren't working. As of right now, I have two connections in my network connections window...

So, any tips? I hate to go through this EVERY time I set up a new computer, re-format, etc. But Alas, it always seems to bite me in the ***! I would appreciate any help at all, and I will probably be refreshing this page every 30 seconds until work in the morning

Thanks guys for reading!

Hi I hope someone can help I am usually good at sorting computer problems but this one has me stumped.

I have currently 3 computers (2 Vista and 1XP) connecting to MSHome network. I also have Freecom NAS attached - all computers backup automatically to NAS. This system has been running for sometime with no problems. Files and printers share easily.

I now have a Windows 7 Netbook which connects to the network for internet access with no problem but I cannot get it to see the other computers (shared files/printers) or see the NAS.

I am running McAfee on the Netbook, and it reports the presence of the other computers and NAS with no problems and is not treating as intruder.

Can someone suggest how I can get the netbook to connect; I cannot see anywhere to tell it to join MSHome, only how to share in a workgroup with other W7 computers. I am planning to upgrade my main Desktop but until I can connect to the NAS which has all my docs etc I cannot risk this.

Any help appreciated.

Hey there.

I have tried to split and join some videos I have in a hope to get rid of a bit in between which I'm not too fond of. I tried 'FadeToBlack AVI Video Editor 2.3' and 'Honestech Video Splitter And Joiner 2.0'.
Both applications seem to fulfill my needs, however, when I got to save the video file I get an error message telling me that a Statsfile was not found - this happened with both applications.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

If not, no worries.

Thanks in advance

Hello all,

I've downloaded VirtualBox and have Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 installed on it. I'm trying to setup a domain on the server and join the Windows 7 client to it - so far I've been unsuccessful.

I was hoping someone would be able to help me troubleshoot why I'm unable to connect the Windows 7 client to the domain. I've done the following so far:
Set network settings to internal network named "intnet" (default value).
Setup DHCP on server and it is ready to service clients (assign IP addresses).
Setup DNS on server, though I have not manually created any Forward or Reverse Lookups - not sure if that's needed.
Added the name of the Windows 7 client to Active Directory Users and Computers.

I've included screenshots of the error message, as well as a screenshot showing the network configuration of the Windows 7 client. The latter is interesting because its as if the client is part of the domain - it has the first IP address within the scope of the DHCP server, the correct Subnet Mask, and the correct IP Address identifying the DHCP server. Both the server and the Windows 7 client are now unable to connect to the internet as well.

Hi everyone,

I would like to know which way is the best to deal with the issue I have.

I have two databases created with Access 2003. Both contain common information. The main reason for having those two dbs is that one is on the Web (this one contains a list of active members) and I wish to limit the information there. The other contains active and non active members and is only local on my workstation.

What I would like to do is to have a form that would allow me to modify the information contained, both the common and non common one, in one shot rather than having to make the changes twice.

I have linked the Web database to the local one, created a many-to-many relationship and created a simple form to make sure everything worked and it did.

1st problem, when I open the form, even though I chose the field from the local db, only the number of records found in the Web db displays.

2nd problem, I would like to be able to add from that same form new records (or members) and that the information would be stored in both dbs.

Hope this makes sense. BTW Happy New Year to all

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? or advise of another freeware program (other then IWisoft) that can join movies?

I had a crash with Windows Home Server which has stopped the server restarting. I need to get files from this hard drive so I have hooked the hard disc to a windows vista machine. However even though I can see the folders/files I want I cannot copy them as it blocks the access. I have tried "take ownership" of the folder(s) and changing the permissions without success. Does anybody know of a way or tool to get rid of the file permissions - I did think of using a low level operating system such as FreeDos or MS-DOS 7 but I have tried these on a separate hard disc and even they seem to install I cannot get them to see the hard disc. Time for my weekly Linux screw-up... I tried to install the drivers for my Intel 852 built in video card ( the DRI ones). I downloaded the .tar.gz and extracted, then I ran the install script. It seemed to work fine, but when I rebooted XFree86 started throwing errors about "No Video Bios for selected depth". What does that mean? I've been working on it most of the night :knock: :knock: , but to no avail. Unfortunately, I have a couple school projects on there. I assumed that upgrading the drivers with such a fool-proof script would be as easy as a Windows driver update, but I guess I messed up bad.

edit: I ran redhat-config-xfree86 and I saved it, but I still use i810 drivers. Any ideas on how to use my new ones?

A:XFree Server Crash

You can choose which X driver to use by changing the /etc/X11/XF86Config file (or wherever RH puts it).

The "depth" part in the error message would suggest a colour depth issue. Try changing between 16 and 24 bits. (Yes, in the XF86Config file)

I have had a total server crash. Everything is not correctly working and the full windows system is damaged (empty popups, strange errors, no desktop icons etc.). BUT fortunately my Exchange-Folder seems to be untouched and completely well. So at first I started to copy my Mailbox-Folder (which includes the edb file). Is there anything else I should recover?
Now I want to reinstall everything which will result in a completely new domain with a new Exchange setup. The domain name will remain the same, but the Domain Controller and Exchange Server will be completely new. Is there a way, to reimport my edb-file into the new Exchange server after the Installation or will it crash because the new server cannot handle the old mailbox database? In fact, there is only one Mailbox I want to reimport (my own one) as I am a Student^^
So I just want to reinstall everything and import my mails again. What should I do or backup else before I format the HDD?

A:I have had a total server crash.

Exchange version/SP/Rollup updates?
Domain Really doesn't matter here to mount a database!
If you have EDB File you can mount it only *IF* the below is true:
Exchange Organization & Administrative Group Name should be same. In case if your Exchange Organization/Administrative Group doesn't match between your Old Environment and New, The database will fail to mount with Error 1088.
If your old Exchange Server is not a Domain Controller then you may go with Disaster Recovery Process.http://forums.techguy.org/windows-8/1148363-how-open-corrupted-exchange-server.html#post9083162
As you are building the environment from scratch you may follow the below:
From the command prompt run the command:
Find /i "/o=" "Your datbase path\Your Database Name.edb"
From the output above what we get is: /o=DATAMATICS LTD which is my Exchange organization Name and /OU=First Administrative Group which is my administrative group.
So, you would need to install Exchange with OrganizationName Specified as Datamatics. If your Exchange version is 2007/2010 then you don't need to really worry about Administrative Group. In case if your Exchange version is Exchange 2003 and if you know for sure that the name of the Administrative group is "First Administrative Group" (by default this will be the name) the you can mount the old edb file on the new server and you can reconnect your disconnected mailbox after you create an AD Account.
Also , Make sure to copy the logs as you will need them in case if... Read more

Hi guys!
We had a crash on a server Exchange 2003. After that we made a copy of the mdbdata. Of course we reinstalled it. Now we're trying to mount the mailbox store (Priv1.edb 5 GB) but we receive this error:
The database files in this storage is inconsistent.
Next, following the MS article n. 327156 Eseutil.exe says that we have a "Dirty shutdown" database
"Eseutil /p" remains in "stand by" on "repair damaged database" step at 90% (the day after was still at 90%).

Here's the problem:
The server has been experiencing very inconsistant problems upon reboot. We're receiving the all so popular "REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE, OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SLECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS ANY KEY" error, but it's not happening every time the system loads up. This system is new and I can vouche that this is not anything to do with the OS since it's been present for both OS installs (XP + Win2003) since the birth of the server. The server randomly won't restart, then after a few retries it loads without a problem. Usually the problem exists only upon reboot, but last night we noticed that the system was unpingable and had crashed, when we called our datacenter for help they informed us of the current state the system was in with the above error. Since we've had this error before and usually can get past it by a few reboots, it's a tough call. Right now the box is down and we can't get it back up. We lost control of our remote card as well.

What we've tried so far:
Browsing around various forums, I notice this error is a common one, but everyone has their own situation. I've tried disabling the PXE in the bios and rearranging the boot device order. Also we've swapped the drives and the system loads fine. It's difficul... Read more

I hope this message won't get deleted because it's a bit off topic (not really Windows 7 related) but I will understand if it gets deleted. So.

I would like to learn as much as possible about networks and servers in as little time as possible. I'm only seeking the basic knowledge at the moment, I'll get deeper into it later on.

So basically what I'd like to do is establish a network with a server in our own home, so I can practice it all this way (since I don't have a chance or resources for building a real network from scratch).

This is a scheme of how things are set in our house:

The computer A is my main computer which I am using daily. The computer S is an older desktop which I will be using as a server to learn from it, both computers are in my room (as is the switch). The computer B is a laptop connected wirelessly in another room and modem & router are located in the third room.

My main question is: how to set everything in such way that when the desktop computer is on it acts as the server and I have a network from which I can learn as much as possible but when the computer S is off, then all the computers can still normally work and connect to the internet through the router - exactly as they did up till now (before I started learning about networks and servers)? I would like to know if this is possible, before I start, and how.

On the computer S I have already installed Windows Server 2008 and on my main computer A I have Windows 7 (computer B is... Read more

4:16:54 PM Est today and earily in the morning around 5am on 10/20 also. Can anyone see why this is happening. The Minidumps are attached.

I experienced a server crash last night. In lieu of wiping out the whole hard drive I created a new installation of the server on the same hard drive. I set the server up the same, same domain and everything, but now the computers that are pointed to that domain controller do not recognize the domain. I believe most of the files from the first install are still intact, so I pretty much have two installations and am given a dual boot option for the server. Is there a way to move the users over from one installation to the other? The crashed installation is called WINNT and the fresh installation is called WINNT2. I still have the shares set up on the drive, so not everything got lost, but I was wondering if there was a way to move over the information from one management console to the other so that I do not have to recreate the users. The only way that I can get the computers to recognize the domain again is by unjoining and rejoining the domain. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

As simple as it sounds, all I had to do was unplug the users CAT-5 from their computers, log them into the Network (to get profiles saved on local machines), then plug in the CAT-5 and let Windows XP ask me for current credentials on users, requiring a lock of the computer (Ctrl, Alt, Del, then Enter to lock) and entrance of the proper credentials.

The SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000003B. This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

It appears to be a problem with TP.Shell.XAF.W but I'm not familiar enough with what it is to be certain.

Today I noticed when typing emails that my pc paused once every minute or so, and had to 'catch up' for a few seconds. I type fast, but not that fast. It was slightly annoying, but not something I paid much attention to, as I figured it would go away if I restarted the pc. (I never got around to trying that.)
But a few hours later my pc beeped once, then shut down. My battery power went from 100% to 0% - which was weird since I use my laptop always plugged into the adapter. It's always pulling power from the outlet - it should never shut down. I turned it back on, (unhappily noted the 0% power), and took out the brand new power cord I keep on hand for lovely moments like this. My pc charged to 10% - but only charged intermittetly. Every minute or so, it still darkened the screen, beeped once, and shut off the charging for these brief moments. Much like when I was typing and the computer struggled to keep up every so often. BTW, it isn't charging past the 10%....just says plugged in, not charging. At least it's stopped its darn beeping...that bodes well for my sanity.
Since both the old and new cords are acting the same, it's not the cord. I'm doubting it's the battery, which isn't old either. I bought both the cord and a new battery from Gateway only a couple months ago when my old battery died.
Another very odd thing - right after I turned my pc on again, before I could access the internet I had to reset some settings that I'm positive I never messed wit... Read more

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend.

He has a new server, 64bit hardware. 939 with nForce chipset.
I can get exact specs if needed.

Also has Server 2003 Enterprise SP1, v.1069 x64 which is the "educational" version. It comes via the MS academy server or something.

In any case, so he has all this 64 bit stuff right? He also loaded Nvidia's 64bit nForce set.

Now, there is no other software on this accept the one program which this whole thing was built for. It required 64 hardware and software. There is no antivirus or antispyware or 3rd party stuff, etc...

The problem was first seen when this program said it required .NET 2.0. Well, big deal, he goes on Windows updates, sees the updates, but after they install, explorer can't run any more! It crashes. But if he uninstalls the update, it works again.

He tried a whole handfull of updates (1 at a time), but any update he does, explorer is crashing upon restart and the update has to be uninstalled. So he can't load updates, or .NET framework. Here is the error log entry that happens after any update is applied:

A:Explorer crash after ANY windows update Server 2003 64bit

It seems that the version he installed was a slightly earlier version with a beta Service Pack 1.
He was not able to find a full install of x64 Service Pack 1, so could not reload it, or put on SP2 or anything. He ended up having to use the trial version of the real Server 2003 (for now), and that worked fine. So there was something wrong with that install or more likely with the beta SP1 it came with.

So for now, if you have this problem, check your Service Pack version!

Hi everyone!

So here goes another post from someone who mysteriously just showed up at your forums with this being his first contribution Anyhow, I am absolutely clueless about what to do besides wiping the system, its that annoying. The sheer multitude of problems made it impossible for me to find any useful info on the web:/ If anyone has an idea id be very thankful. Oh btw, Im a computer science major so talk nerdy to me, I think I can take it

Here goes:
Since about 2 days ago, my system (Windows Server 2008 Enterprise) comes up with all sorts of funny crashes and stutters in some games, unresponsivenes in other programs and at times downright ignores when I want to start a program. In detail:

- Firefox: Temporarily unresponsive (greyed out)
- Warcraft 3: Crashes from menu and game, seemingly at random. Cannot kill the process afterwards with task manager or process explorer, gotta reboot.
- Bioshock: Stutters and hangs as early as in the first Logo screens and videos. Stutters last for about 5-10 secs, then game commences as normal for about the same amount of time, then more stutters. I checked procexp with the game windowed and it shows that the Bioshock.exe goes from ~60% cpu usage when acting normal to 3% and lower during the stutters. No other process is using the cpu time though, it just goes up and down every few seconds, letting the idle process have its share without anything else happening. At least killing the exe works as intended.

Hey All,

I am working on a server and recently two of their mail accounts have began not sending out email. When I first looked into the outbound box, the mail I sent out is still pending. It usually takes anywhere from 1 minute to several hours to for it (Argosoft Outbox) to be delivered. Also, when I send out a email to that particular a particular address, it will just sit there.

I have also done scans with AVG 8.0 and found that it had I-Worm/Bagz.D infection. I quickly quarantined that infection as to not allow to infect other files on the pc / server. I have also done a Hijack This Scan, please can someone look at this and tell some about what I am making out.

XP Pro SP2, all latest updates. When I reboot, I can correctly sync to a time server, but after an unknown amount of time it goes back to saying "The RPC server is unavailable" instantly after clicking Update Now, regardless of what server I tell it to sync to. I also noticed that if I view my nForce Networking Controller status, then click Properties and go to the Authentication tab, everything is greyed out. If I hit OK without changing anything (I can't change it even if I wanted to), a message pops up saying "An unexpected condition occured. Not all of your requested changes in settings could be made" and just goes back to that window. I have to hit cancel to close it. These two issues seem to be related since right after I reboot, the Authentication tab works normally (as well as the time sync like I mentioned above), and they both seem to stop working at the same time. I have no idea if it happens after something I run or if it's just after a certain amount of time or what. Any ideas?

I have the same problem exactly. There is an article at Ed Bott's Windows Expertise (http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=1779) tyhat discusses problems with the Windows time Server, but nothing he suggested worked for me. It just won't update...no matter what server I choose.

Okay I want to go over pros and cons of some of the things that my boss wants done.

First off let me explain what we have. Users are on a domain system. Both laptop and desktop users. No users have admin rights.

Now let me explain what we want to do. We want a backup of their My Documents (and possibly other directories in the future) but we want it to be as invisible to them as possible.

I looked into the Folder redirection GPO and has a good pro - Simple to impelment (I did a test on my own PC did it in about 5 minutes) cons - in order to allow laptops to work they would have to have offline folders enabled and synchrnized and worst of all synchrnization won't accept PST's, MDB's and other key files that we would need synchronized as well gives errors in the synching process.

I then thought about a file sync program letting them seemlessly work on their PCs and just sync the files to the file server - Pros Can install a server side client that just polls for connected PC's and copies the files to the repsective places. Cons costs money, usually does not sync in use files making some of the files be missed.

Lastly I considered a batch file to run at login - Pros easier to setup to copy things out. Cons only runs at login so people could leave their PC up for 15 days and have 15 day old software. As well I do not know how to copy only modified files so some people with large files would copy over a ton of data (unless I can find a solution for this).

I'm planning on joining two ethernet cables together with a coupler in order to make one long cable. The problem is, one cable has 568-B wiring and the other has 568-A wiring. Will this kind of connection work, and if so, will it affect the integrity of my network? I doubt I will need any crossover cable; the two cables will go directly from the router to a single computer. I just want to extend the existing cable's length using a coupler and all I have available is a cable with different wiring.

All machines are must be in the same subnet, i.e. 192.168.0.x where x is any number. The subnet mask should be for most small networks.

Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

PING each computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. You can obtain the IP address of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG. This should work for any Windows version.

All computers should be in the same workgroup for computer browsing to function properly. File & Print Sharing has to be enabled on any computer you wish to share files or printers from. You also need to actually share the resource in question from My Computer, right click on the drive/printer/folder, and select sharing.

If you encounter difficulties accessing computers that are visible in Network Neighborhood, make sure the computer being accessed has an account with the same name/password as the system connecting to it uses to login.

While the default NetBIOS setting is correct for normal network configurations, it's possible for it to be altered, and it costs nothing to make sure it's correct. NETBIOS over TCP/IP must be enabled for normal network browsing.

I just completed downloading a DVD. I open the file and there are 29 RAR files with the extension r01 thru r29. Then there are 64 unknown files with the same extensions: r30 thru r93. How do I turn all this into recordable DVD files?

click on the first one - either r01 but usually there is an unnumbered one
winrar will do the rest
the 'unknown' files are rar files, winrar only recognizes the first 30

and this thread will probably get locked

suggest you read the rules, which are guidelines but called rules anyways
