Q: Solved: MS Office 2007 Trial uninstall problems athat lead to other Problems. Please

I tried to un-install Office 2007. But it would not un-install. So I went online searching for answers. and I found this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/
I tried to follow the directions, but I think I got so overwhelmed and scared that I did not continue. But what I did do might have been the reason that I got more problems now.

Now I am not able to use my own Office XP 2002.
I am not able to re-install nor un-install any of the office products (2002 or 2007).

Tonight, I used the CD to re-install office 2007 (trial), I got the Error 1321:
"Setup cannot modify the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\office12\1033\PROTTPLV.XLS Verify that the file exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update.

A few days ago, I tried to re-install Office xp 2003, and I got similar Errors.

Please Help!

Thanks,
Boating

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I am having problems uninstalling Microsoft Office 2007 trial. Everytime I try to uninstall the program it shows this message:

"Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run setup from original source disc or download location"

I have tried manually removing it and trying to find an uninstaller in the Office folder but had no joy. It also recommended I used windows installer to uninstall it but I don't quite understand how I would do this.

Hi, when I got my new computer, there was a free trial for Office 2007 on it that I wanted to get rid of. I used Your Uninstaller to do it, and YU only found some kind of Office Trial assistant thing to uninstall, so that's what I got rid of. However, the free trial of Office remains in my program list, and when I click them the programs open. Yet when I look for the programs with YU or via Add/Remove programs, Office is nowhere to be found. This is causing problems for me, because Windows has been asking me to install "important" updates for Office, but when I allow it to update Windows has problems configuring them and my computer is unable to properly load Vista.

So, how do I find these darn Office programs and uninstall them? Once I do that will Windows stop bugging me about Office updates?

Thank you for any help!

I installed the Office 2007 Trial package - I needed to view a PowerPoint presentation. I have gone through the activation process countless times, but my programs are still running in read only, which is causing me problems not completing work I need to do. I tried to uninstall it, but then all of my original Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) were gone. Can someone tell me how to uninstall it and maintain my original programs or get the crazy thing to activate so I can use my programs? About six months ago I installed it one time to view PowerPoint, but was able to uninstall and retain my original programs. Please help!
Thanks so much!

Yes, you do need to remove any add-ons first before removing the main Office System.

A:How to uninstall MS Office 2007 trial?

You may need to uninstall the 2003 version first. You might need to try a reinstall of the trial version also and then uninstall it. When you have both properly removed, then do the 2003 install again.

Hello verbotten and welcome to the forums

I'm glad to hear that you managed to resolve your issue, and thank you for sharing the solution with us.

For future reference, I would advise that you uninstall software using RevoUninstaller :

It will run the built-in uninstaller then it will remove any left-over files.

Hello,

Start the Windows in safe mode. Because in safe mode, only the essential programs and files are loaded. This mode allows you to remove programs that can not be removed in normal mode..

I would remove one of the versions before installing the other, but it sounds like you already installed both. You may or may not have problems, but if you do you can always reinstall the activated one (2007) with your CD and activate it again.

Let me know if you have problems reinstalling or uninstalling the office software

I've had the Beta version of Office installed for sometime now. What I didn't realise is that today (1 Feb 2007) is the cut off day for it, and when arriving in the office this morning realised that it isn't working anymore, and says that I must uninstall.

So we have the Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 dvd here, but when inserting that, it tells me I have to uninstall Beta first (can't understand why it doesn't just upgrage.. grrr..)

Now the problem - when trying to remove 2007 Beta through add/remove programs, it goes through a whole process, but then at the end comes up with the following error:

Seems simple enough right? Firstly, the file it tells you to read up on doesn't actually exist anywhere on my pc. Secondly, I seems to have all the appropriate permissions available.

After rebooting and this message coming up numerous times, I decided to try install 2003 and see if that would work. Well, it installed, but now there's major conflict errors, so I tried to uninstall 2003, and surprise surprise - I got the exact same error message:

SO we tried a system restore, but that didn't work. So last resort was to go in cowboy style and delete the regustry entries, and all the files and folders relating to office.

Didn't work either. It still shows as being there in Add/Remove Programs, and keeps showing the same uninstall errors when trying to uninstall.

Formatting would be the FINAL option, but that would be one hellu... Read more

Can I run the trial for office 2007 and keep my 2003 stuff loaded and running? My life's in OneNote 2003, which I have the full version of(2 copies, actually), but my trial for all the other office things *just* expired, and I've got a giant paper due in 2 weeks. Which is now read-only. I can't figure out what I need to do in Oo.o in regards to headers and formatting. Which is the main reason I'm currently in a state of panic!

Do you have to get rid of 2003 to use 2007?

Edit: I'd like to hold off on buying 2007 until after the end of the semester, because I need to turn my tablet in for some pretty crazy repairs. And I'm debating the merits of switching to vista while all that's being changed around in the meantime. So I'd like to wait on buying until after I decide if Vista's gonna work for me.

A:Office 2007 trial question (My 2003 trial just expired!)

Hi there,

I'm not sure about the trial version, but with the whole version (which I understand the trial version to be, only with a countdown limit on it) you can install over 2003 and keep both versions. The only thing you cannot do this with is Outlook (you are only allowed one of those programs/versions at a time). There are some other minor issues, but for the most part, all can run together fairly well. I have 2003 and 2007 installed on my main hdd partition.

So when your 2007 trial is up, you can uninstall it, but will need to reinstall Outlook. It would probably be better to reinstall everything anyways. You may have issues with normal.dotx or personal.xlsb, etc.

I purchased a PC which came with a pre-installed trial version of Microsoft Office (I don't know if it is Home, Pro., or which), but believe it is 2007. I subsequently purchased Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. Although it has less features than the pre-installed version I believe it includes the features that My Wife and I will normally use. When installing this program, am I supposed to uninstall the pre-installed trial version, or will it automatically be deleted or overwritten?

well, of course, now that i uninstalled it, i am unable to find my product key. even though i had the validiation before, i assume that i'm just out of luck.

so i download the trial of microsoft office which is way too user friendly for my tastes. i feel like i am in an alien program. i never thought i'd be the type of person who doesn't like change. (i hope it isn't because i turned 60)

two questions (oops 3 questions- if i do a restore will i get my old office back? will i be able to find my product key in the registry? are there any other office programs that are not so user friendly that you can recommend? Sidepart: i do not like the fact that no where could i find the cost for the trial verison of microsoft. is that legal?

I enjoy your site - i also am having some help in the game section - unrelated to my problem shown above.

A:Solved: uninstalled office 2007 trial and now have 2003 issues

While I cannot guarantee that there isn't malware listed above, the problem of Office installation requests is due to the uninstall process for Office 2007. From personal experience I can tell you that the uninstallation of programs (quite frequently when manufactured by MS) causes a number of problems for prior versions. For me, the resolution was to uninstall all Office products and reinstall Office 2003.

The annoying install requests can be cancelled and the application of choice will continue opening until you uninstall and reinstall. You shouldnt lose anything since the office installations don't really affect "My Documents" or other data folders.

You probably need the MSI files which contain the information to uninstall the programs.
See if you can search for the .MSI files on your computer.

Try reinstalling Office and then uninstall it again.

This forum helped me a lot in the past and i hope someone can help me this time aswell.
I used to have a problem with blue screens on my toshiba laptop running vista. That problem was solved. However, since then microsoft office word 2007 is not working properly anymore. Whenever i try to save, open or close a file the program stops responding and crashes. I tried uninstalling microsoft office, scaning the computer registry with regsupreme pro and cleaning it and then reinstalling microsoft office but the problem persists.
The problem is only with microsoft word, all other office programs work fine.
My best guess is that something went wrong with some system file.
I have absolutely no idea what to do. If anyone can help me somehow i would appreciate it.
My last resort is formatting the computer which i would like to avoid.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I recently purchased a HP 530 laptop for our soccer club that came pre installed with Vista. During use of outlook, Excel etc it came up with a message asking for activation key & that we had 20 uses left to enter it (I presumed this was a trial version & activation code to be purchased). After 5-10 uses I decided to install Office 97 which I still had lying around from an old PC. This installed OK but the message was still appearing.

I then uninstalled Office 97 via add/remove programs & then did likewise for anything that mentioned office 2007 (I didn't do the actual uninstalling but am advised there were 4-6 office 2007 variants uninstalled). I then went to load office 97 back in but no go. It goes through the usual install process, enter key, select location to load (prog files/microsoft office) & then select type of install required (typical) & then the features (have selected all & just the basic office install).

Then it goes to the actual install process but just sits there with the bluey/green coloured screen with Microsoft Office 97 written at the top but goes no further.

I have checked add remove programs again & no mentions of office are listed.

I have followed the following fix I was advised about -

I'm on Windows XP w/SP2. It had Office 2003. I've had my computer since 2004.
Before I installed Office 2007, Office '03 worked fine. Then I needed '07 for a college class and installed a trial. Office '07 worked fine, but the MS Word shortcut in my quicklaunch bar pointed to Word '03 still. Whenever I'd hit it by accident, it would try to install Office '03("Please wait while Windows Configures Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003). I canceled it on the second screen and it worked anyway.

The second screen had this:
Installation Error: File not Found

A required installation file SKU1E3.CAB could not be found.

Before, I'd hit cancel and MS Word '03 would get to working anyway. Then I'd close it and go into Word 07. I think there was some error message, but I don't remember it. Now, I just uninstalled an Office '07 trial. The same thing is happening again, but now when I hit cancel, it says "fatal error during installation." It's a different error message from the one I got last time.

A charity is considering upgrading its workstations to Office 2013 from Office 2007.
They have lots of files in the .docx, .xlsx, .xlsm, and .xltm formats that they would need to access on a daily basis.

- Would the upgrade cause compatability problems with working with files created under these above formats?

A:Considering upgrade to Office 2013 - potential problems with Office 2007 files?

To my knowledge, they should not have any issues.

I just purchased an HP Pavilion laptop, that came with the Office 2007 trail. I have created files in word and in excel. Now the trail has ended. My question is, can I keep Office 2007 for free or do I have to pay for it. I did try to search for a topic relative to this but was unsuccessful.

I am trying to help someone recover their PC software without any backups. The only piece of software that I cannot find to help them restore is Office 2007 Pro. The guy had installed a copy from a download and has the legitimate product license key, but does not have the installation files and cannot find a download copy now.

I thought I could locate a Trial version that he could install and subsequently (re)register his existing key. Assuming that approach is legitimate, the problem is that I cannot locate a download for the trial version any more. All the download links that I have followed redirect to the newer 2010 office suite.

Was this ia reasonable approach? Is he SOL? Or can someone suggest a solution?

Thank you.

I found some secret sauce that the internet has not yet forgotten. I expect these will disappear eventually, so no point posting them, but leave me a message if you have need.

I needed to view a MS Publisher file that was emailed to me. Soooooo I went to the MS site and downloaded the 2007 Trial version. Worked fine on opening the Publisher file.

However, I would now like to remove the download.

Have tried Control Panel/Add/Remove...no way.

Everytime an email comes into Outlook, or I open a MS Word file, Windows Installer pops up and wants to install. Have to cancel, cancel, cancel to get back to my work.

Am running XP Professional SP2/MS Word 2003 SP2

Any ideas?

If this is indeed a new computer with a Trial Version, Office 2007, that you wish to activate - you would be well advised to contact Microsoft Office directly to seek their advice re your problem...

Hi,

I recently downloaded the Home & Student Edition of Microsoft Office (free trial) for making a PPT to present to advertise my website. However, I have noticed that Publisher 2007 is good at creating newsletters, so I thought maybe I could use it to email a weekly newsletter to my members.

Publisher 2007 isn't included in Home & Student Edition Trial.

I want to get started using it soon, but I was wondering if Office would let me trial another Edition after the Home & Student edition has expired?
Thanks in advance,

Ethanw

I purchased a PC which included a pre-installed trial version of Microsoft Office (not sure if Home, Pro., or which). I believe it is 2007. Subsequently, I purchased Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 on CD ROM. Even though there are less features available in the purchased version than the pre-installed trial version, I wanted something which I would have a "Hard Copy" of in the event of a crash or something similar. When installing the purchased version, do I first uninstall the pre-installed trial version, or will it automatically be deleted or overwritten during the installation?

The trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student edition, that came preinstalled with Vista Premium, 32bit, had expired and so I tried to uninstall it using the Add Remove Programs Feature. After doing this, however, when I start up the computer a message comes up automatically saying something like "Microsoft Office is not responding, check for a solution online and close the program or close the program". I have already uninstalled it, or so I thought, so why does this message appear and how can I get rid of it? I'm assuming the program wasn't completely removed by the uninstall process.
Thanks for your help

A:Microsoft Office trial version still remains after uninstall

Hi, DaveWfg, and welcome to the forums.

First off, a bit of information. Microsoft Office (in any way, shape or form) does not come installed with *vista* - rather, it came installed with your machine because your manufacturer put it there.

Now, on to why it seems to be not gone - it could just as easily be a *third party* program that interfaces with Microsoft Office that is causing the problem - can you either post a screen shot of the error message you are receiving, or else tell us *exactly* what it says?

HP 15-f337wm Notebook, Win 10 Home 64-bit. I accidentally deleted something unknown tto me that stopped me being able to attach photos to my AOL mail.   A few days ago Microsoft (via internet) downloaded for me a two month trial of MICROSOFT OFFICE PROFESSIONAL PLUS 2013 which for reasons unknown to me FIXED the problem!    Yesterday I purchased at Walmart a OFFICE HOME & STUDENT 2016 product key.  Am only interested in downloading what ever it was that stopped me from being able to attach pictures to my AOL emails. I would like to keep the WORD but am not interested in the Exel, PowerPoint and OneNote unless someone tells me I need to download ALL of them to fix my photo attaching problem.  Also, do I need to uninstall the trial before downloading the new product key?

A:Uninstall trial version Office Professional Plus 2013 before...

Hard to say what happened with the AOL photos but that full Office 2013 has a photo editor program included and that may be what started the photos working right again. Since that was a 2 month trial you are not going to be able to keep it anyway. I would uninstall the Office 2013 before installing the Office 2016. If you do not, the Office 2016 upon install will give you the option to keep or upgrade all parts of the Office 2013 which have corresponding apps in 2016. However, since the 2013 you have is more full-featured you will likely wind up with a mish-mash of 2013 and 2016 components and it is going to be confusing when 2013 expires.  If, after the 2016 install, your AOL picture problem is back, post back then and we can attack that issue on its own merits. I'm sure it is a very easy fix and likely just a file association thing. It's not really fixed until you understand how and why it is fixed.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi, I unstalled Microsoft Office Home and Student 60 day trial from my Win 7 Home Premium. However, when I explore my hard disc, I see Microsoft Office files still on the hard disc. Are they necessary for other programs in Windows? I have switched to Open Office and I really don't want files that I don't need on my HDD. Thanks in advance for your help.

PS. My system specs are listed. This was an OEM installation (Toshiba).

A:Mcrosoft Office Trial Uninstall leaves files

They aren't crucial for anything on your PC if you uninstalled MS Office.

You can delete if you want if you're a clean freak like me or you can leave them (although if you ever do install MS Office you may run into problems with those files still being there, but by the sounds of it that's never going to happen).

Several months ago, I downloaded the beta version of Office 2007. I decided to remove it and go back to Office 2003. Ever since, I can no longer access Outlook 2003 and I am using the 2002 version. The other Office 2003 functions I am able to use. Also, I am unable to install Office Updates because when I do, Outlook 2002 and Word 2003 lose some functionality and I have to restore.

All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

This is my ifrst post here. This is about the Non-Working of the Microsoft Office 2007 Trial Version Installation.

Actually I had downloaded the Microsoft Office 2007 Trial Version from the Microsoft office site. The Download (of about 648.58 MB) was done properly and an Icon was placed on my Desktop along with a Folder consisting the MSOffice downloads.

During the download process there were two Extraction Of Files processes automatically done by the downloader manager.

When the download was finally over and the final installation (the INSTALL NOW button showing up) was to begin I was prompted that 'My Outlook 2007 would not be installed by default because two (2007 trial and my older 2003) copies of Outlook could not coexsist on one PC'.

So I refered to the Microsoft KB article describing the above scenario and followed the instructions which stated that I had to remove the earlier version of outlook 2003 and then install the new outlook 2007 trial OR I could still keep my outlook 2003 and install the Office 2007 Trial Suite without Outlook 2007.

I chose the second option to Keep my 2003 Outlook and install Office 2007 Trial without Outlook.

So following the steps given I simply clicked the INSTALL NOW button on the dialogue box and let the files get CONFIGURED ( the CONFIGURING OFFICE 2007 process in the wizard).

The Configuration process was completed with the green blocks (progress of configuration) getting filled up throughout the sm... Read more

A:MIcrosoft Office 2007 Trial not Working

I dont know WHY this is happening.Because of the earlier Trial install. Hidden in the depths of your computer, there is now information, designed to stop you installing the trial version over and over again. It is not a good idea to go looking in the Registry, either. So the message re expiry is accurate.Never have to buy a program again, just reinstall the trial; I'm afraid not.Fortunately, Office 2003 is an excellent suite; I looked at 2007 and decided not to bother.

I ended up getting the AV Security Suite virus or trojan horse on my old work laptop and so I am writing this message using my PC. I was going through this forum's tutorial on removing the AV Security Suite here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-remo...-security-suiteI tried to enter the Safe Mode by pushing F8 on start up but nothing happened and so I took your advice and typed "msconfig" in the Run box and used the System Configuration Utility/BOOT.INI and did the /SAFEBOOT and then restarted. Well this worked great but my problem is that when I put in my usual password, it is incorrect. I have only had two passwords with this computer and neither of them are working. What do I do? The computer keeps opening in Safe Mode. As for the laptop, it is an old work computer that when the company closed down for good, they gave it to me for free. With that, I was not the Admin. How do I proceed? Do I need to create a floppy boot disk as noted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/create-floppy-boot-disk-in-windows/The computer does not have a floppy drive.Fester

A:AV Security Suite problems lead to Safe Mode problems. Help!

Hi Fester,Unfortunately we cannot help you getting around a password. See also the board rulesNo subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures.I certainly see your problem, but the only thing I can suggest you, is contacting the company and obtaining the password or accessing your own non-administrator account.
