Speakers stopped showing up (HDMI) in Win10

Q: Speakers stopped showing up (HDMI) in Win10

My speakers won't show up in Windows 10 when plugged into my monitor over HDMI to my Nvidia graphics card. They were working last night before some updates were installed via Windows Update. Now they're not showing up at all, but Windows says the system hasn't been updated in over 10 days so it can't restore. I already tried reinstalling Nvidia and Realtek drivers. They work when plugged into the motherboard.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Well, lets just jump right into it, earlier this week, my HDMI monitor was working a-ok, (scepter e22 i think) to the best of my knowledge a update decided to install itself overnight, and then, low and behold, the laptop wont even detect that a device is connected, not in device manager or devices and printers however, when i go into display properties, it allows me to change the res and size of something, but it wont tell me what. HDMI is working, i booted into a live Linux mint, and it worked without a hitch, i went in and uninstalled the display driver(Intel hd graphics) then reinstalled, booted in safe mode, nada. nothing works, what has the internet got for me?

vga is working fine, only hdmi seems to have taken the crap

Hi there.

I looked it up cases like mine, but found no other.

I got a new desktop recently, and after a month or so, I believe it was after an update (not sure) it stopped recognizing the TV... I tested with a monitor of a friend, using a HDMI cable and it worked fine.

I tested other cables and other TVs, tried to update my v?deo driver and also revert it to the previous version...

Nothing seems to work, I got a new TV just to play my games, don't like Win 8 too much and cannot afford a new monitor right now (just got TV + desktop).

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks a lot!

When I start up the pc and start playing on audio on speakers or on headphones connected before I start the application then everything is fine. Now when I start switching from one (speaker or headphones) to the other (headphones or speaker) then things are not fine. I've tested a few different apps: - iTunes: it switches audio fine a random number of times but then iTunes stops playing and audio cuts out - it does not hang, it simply stops playing and the time played does not change anymore (e.g. stuck on 01:14 minutes played). I have to reboot the app to regain ability to play a song on the then active speaker or headphones.- Firefox, watching a video (usually thru flash): it does not switch at all. I have to reboot the app to force a switch of audio- Windows media player: switches fine all the time ... Looking at the CTRL panel sound/playback devices it always detects the switch (the green V tick moves to the other device) but depending on the app: - iTunes: the green audio bars are no longer visible (consistent with above observation that no more audio is heard- Firefox: the green audio bars keep going on the removed device (so the green Tick e.g. is on headpones, but the green bars are on the speakers)- Mediaplayer: all is well The audio HW is Conexant Audio HD (1 combined audio/mic jack) and the speakers ar Bang&Olufsen (and HP uses an B&O app to set audio settings such as equalizer). All drivers are up to date (either via WinUpdate... so last month I bought an Acer Switch 5 which doesn't have HDMI or VGA ports and was reassured that an USB-C to HDMI adapter would work for me to display presentations on customer/prospect screens when I visit their offices.
So far I have tried 2 different brands of USB-C to HDMI adapter cables and both show a USB not recognised error on the Acer.
So how to fix this?
Is it a brand adapter cable issue?
Is it a USB-C driver issue?
or something else?

My laptop was purchased in Sep-2010 and runs Win7 Home Premium Ed. (64-bit). It has worked perfectly until around June-2016, when the obnoxious Win10 free trial forced itself on my laptop.  As I had no choice I used Win10 for just a day or 2 and then found out that:  (1) I had lost the HDMI port audio capability, which I use to connect to my TV,and (2) The trial Win10 allowed me to revert to Win7, which I promptly did. In my restored Win 7, everything was fine, except when I goto Sound in Control Panel to configure/reconfigure HDMI as the default, I could not -- the item that used to show up as "AMD HDMI Audio" no longer appears.  I recall a message during the Win10 free trial period that says it disabled all incompatible hardware.  Without a doubt, Win10 free trial "killed" this HDMI port/device, at least audio-wise. Today, I still run the same Win7, but I can no longer get HDMI audio on this port.  When I connect to my TV, only the video works.  The Device Manager of Win7 shows it with an exclamation mark in yellow and when I right-click it to get more details, there is a message from Microsoft saying:  Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. Hey, DejaVu420 here.

I just bought a brand new 32 Inch flat screen HD TV to use as my PC monitor, and it just happen to come with a pair of very nice built in speakers. I currently have another pair of homemade speakers (12 inch sub w/ 2 satilites) wired to plug into the back of my PC, using just the good ol lil green hole. Now this works perfectly fine, sh*t bumps, and the HDMI speakers operate perfectly fine as well, when i have either or selected in the windows Vista "Sound" device list.

My question is, is there ANY way at all, that i can get the HDMI speakers to operate in unison with my PC speakers?

I cant wire them together... so im thinking of some type of program that could output to HDMI and analog at the same time? Basicly i need to use the "Speaker" playback device in unison with the "ATI HDMI Output" playback device.

Wish windows would just make this an option...

Thanks for the help!

Hi all this is my first post here..

First of all I have an Acer 5943G model laptop. I have a weird issue since yesterday when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. Everything is working fine except that all sound is coming from the subwoofer speaker beneath the laptop instead of the R L speakers above the keyboard.

I have downloaded and updated the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers etc and have gone through the sound settings time and time again to ensure that everything is right. Everything is indeed right in the settings so I really don't know what else I can do to be able to fix this problem. I know this is not a hardware issue because the speakers were working fine on Windows 7.

I have also plugged in my headphones to test the sound that way and it works as it should, I do get stereo sound on my headphones.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated as I really don't know how to fix this after spending hours on it.
Thanks in advance.

My Yamaha HDMI received is the default device and under properties, it used to display under supported formats, all of the latest Hi Def codecs like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-MA, etc. Those are now all missing. I just get the legacy ones. They were working perfectly prior to this week! I have not done any other changes. It looks like windows downloaded a Intel graphics HD driver and I also tried the latest Nvidia graphics/HD audio drivers with same result.

I cannot get the missing codecs back! I need them for Blu-ray file playback via Kodi media server.

P70 with M3000M graphics, BIOS set to "discrete graphics". I'm running the latest retail nVidia driver 411.95 Quadro Notebook downloaded from the nVidia site.

Under Win10 I connected my P70 to my LG OLED TV using miniDP->HDMI cable, and only get video. No audio.

Playback Devices only shows the Realtek HD Audio speakers as available.  There is no option available for digital audio via the HDMI connection to the TV despite the fact that the HDMI Audio option was checked from among the installation options when the driver was installed.  I'm speculating that in fact this didn't occur, hence why there is no HDMI digital audio available through Playback Devices.  The LG TV shows up just fine in nVidia Control Panel as "LG TV", as a second monitor and video output to it is perfect.

I also tried a second connection method which this time goes through the same miniDP->HDMI cable but instead of going directly to the LG TV goes through my Oppo UDP-203's HDMI input (the Oppo in turn connects to the LG TV.  This time nVidia Control Panel shows the second monitor as the Oppo 203, but once again there is no HDMI digital audio device to select in Playback Devices, so again I only have video going to the LG TV from the P70.

Now I also have Win7 available on my P70, so I tried that approach instead.  And sure enough, through the Win7 version of the same latest 411.95 retail nVidia driver everything works perfectly... through both of t... Read more

Hello

I need help with setting up my hardware...

Recently I purchased a MSI GS30 Shadow which is a unique laptop system that docks onto a desktop to significantly boost the notebooks overall abilities.
Notebook - The best gaming notebook provider

However when the notebook is docked it cannot be used, so external keyboard, mouse & screen are required (all of which I have hooked up and working fine) however I am now trying to hook up a pair of speakers that I purchased to this system which just isn't as easy or 'plug n play' as I thought it would be...

The TV is a 24" samsung flat screen with a HDMI port & USB port along with inline audio/video ports.

The speakers are Polytron PAS 68
http://polytron.co.id/?fuseaction=ho...peaker&id=1133

I've plugged the speakers from their rear inline (red & white) ports into the TVs rear inline (red & white ports) nothing.
I've plugged the speakers from their front USB port into the TVs rear USB port, nothing.
I've plugged the speakers from their front USB port into the Laptops USB port, nothing.

I am now no longer sure what I could or should do to try and get these speakers operational ANY help would be so GREATLY appreciated!

When I look into the Playback Devices for Audio in windows the speakers do not show up, I have tried researching online for Polytron Drivers but have found nothing.

Please please please help me on this I am at my wits end here...

Cheers

Following my previous thread "Can I access MS DOS from my Windows 10 platform?", following the help I received in that thread, I have had DOSBox running fine until today. I think there was an automatic Win 10 update in the intrum. Whether that is the cause I'm not sure, but now DOSBox crashes every time I try to run it. Here is what I do:
As shown I 'mount' the destination location and then go to the DOSBox c drive. Then when I try to open my GW BASIC operating program, (b.exe), it does nothing for a few seconds and then shuts down, returning me to the Win10 desktop.

I'm definitely not doing anything different to previously as I had put the above shown commands into ShortKeys and have been accessing successfully using the shortcuts for a full day. Now it crashes. I've tried uninstalling and downloading again but it's made no difference.

My friend connected an external monitor to his Sony laptop using an HDMI cable. The problem is that there is no audio from the external monitor speakers. The sound still comes out of the laptop speakers. When I look in Playback Devices, I see what appears to be the speakers as a device (can't remember exactly what is was called, but it was a somewhat vague name like "audio device"), and I've tried various settings, yet I can't get sound from the speakers.

So my question is, does an HDMI connection on a monitor support audio, or does he need to get a audio cable and use the green audio jack that is on the monitor, which I thought was just needed with the VGA connector.

Thanks

A:No audio to HDMI monitor speakers

It depends on what is available on the specific PC. Normally, both Video and Audio are on the HDMI port, and when a cable is connected to the HDMI port Windows automatically changes the default audio playback device from the "Speakers" (The PC's sound card) to the HDMI as the default audio playback device.

Since this is not happening, either the incorrect video driver (which includes HDMI audio) is not installed or the PC does not have the capability.

About all I can offer without the specific Sony PC Model Number so we can research what it has.

my issue is sound switching right now as it stands, i need to manually switch on my pc between the HDMI audio as my main device and my PC speakers as my main device... on my laptops this is not a problem, it can automatically detect if hdmi is plugged in and switch sound over..

the main reason is its a slight pain to keep going over after a movie and switch over, nor do i want to disconnect a hdmi cable every time..

any suggestions how to automate this problem???

I may not be understanding what you are trying to do here, but it sounds like you have the audio output device set as the HDMI connection, so the audio is bypassing any speakers connected to your computer and going to the surround system. I don't know enough about Windows sound settings to say if you can specify multiple output devices (at once), though.

That is the way it works. You can only have one "default playback device" - either your Speakers (PC sound) or the HDMI.

I've seen other posts about this, but don't recall seeing any way around this.

Hello I have just built a system and bought a new monitor which has inbuilt speakers and hdmi connection.

Monitor is LG 24MP68VQ and I installed it's drivers too. I used HDMI cable (it came with monitor) and the display works greatly.

I am currently using onboard graphics (Intel HD 630). Cpu is i5-7500 and MB is MSI B250M Bazooka. Windows 7 version is Professional 64 bit. I installed every driver on motherboards web page (including Realtek Audio drivers). While installing Intel graphics it also showed Intel Audio drivers. I guess it's because I use HDMI cable. On playback devices page there are:

Speakers - High Definiton Audio Device (I guess it's Realtek)

LG IPS FULLHD - Intel Display Audio and this one is set as default.

While I can't set the first one as default as the option is greyed. And lastly, when I plug headphone onto monitor sound comes from the headphone. I really have no idea what's going on. And I searched nearly everyting on the internet.

So if support for Win8 has stopped, two questions I have to ask:

1) Is Windows 10, both getting it and having it, bad?

2) If you want to stick with Windows 8, what can you not do anymore, and what can you do if something happens and you need them?

I have two desktops and a NAS drive on my network. Both PC's are Win10. One Pro, the other Home. Everything was working beautifully then out of nowhere the Home machine just stopped accessing the public folder on the Pro machine saying it didn't have permission. I thought the Public folder didn't need permissions if it's shared with Everybody. But it will access and read the other non-public shares on the Pro machine. Weird The Pro machine, however, doesn't even see the Home machine on the network any more, although I can ping it. Again, weird. I had a mapped drive to the Home machine which is now broken. Both PC's can see and access the NAS drive. No settings were changed, nothing was touched, it just worked one minute and stopped the next. The Pro machine was just updated to Build 10586.3 on 11/13/15. But I don't think that caused it because everything worked until the 17th. All the network settings were correct and they have not been changed. I can't find anything about it on the internet except the typical "Make sure Network Discovery is on and file sharing is enabled." Yes, Network Discovery is on and file and printer sharing is enabled on both machines. Still no go. So I'm guessing I'm the only one with this problem. Lucky me. Anyone have any ideas?

I installed Windows 10 and all the necassary drivers, and almost everything is fine besides two defects:when HDMI cable (version 1.4b) is connected, I do not have a HDMI playback to choose at allwhen I connect external monitor (which is DELL U2515H) with the same HDMI cable, the maximum resolution available is 2048x1152, whereas native resolution for this monitor is 2560x1440Tried reinstalling Intel HD Graphics and Intel Display Audio drivers many times in different ways (uninstalling and having automatic install on restart, installing from device manager, installing with Driver Easy, upgrading to the newest version), but nothing changes. I'm sure the cable is capable of such resolutions as I tried on other laptop and it worked perfectly. I also installed linux on my new T470 and it has no problems with HDMI audio and higer resolution on external monitor. So the problem is around Windows and drivers for it. Anybody knows what else can I do?

I have an external monitor with no speakers I use as a dual display along with my laptop monitor. No sound comes out of my laptop speakers nor when I hook up external speakers to it while I have the external monitor hooked up by the HDMI cable. Is there anything I can do to get this to work?
Thanks,
Bill

A:HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

Right click on the volume control and then Properties,

When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.

You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

I recently re-installed Windows 10 on my computer since it was running slow. When I loaded back into Windows, everything was working properly except the sound on my device. I looked a the device manager and the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC had a yellow exclamation point next to it. I tried to auto install it, but an error occurred. I then went and right clicked on the speaker icon, went to playback devices, and then saw that the AMD HDMI Output was "not plugged in," even though it was. I thought maybe my speakers got damaged, but I plugged them into my TV and they worked fine. I am lost as to what I can do to resolve my audio issues.

I'm having some trouble with my laptop's sound. Every few minutes, it sounds like the audio skips and buzzes for less than a second. It sounds like interference or something. I was certain it was a fault with the speakers, but the problem exists when listening on headphones and even on the TV connected through HDMI. Also, it happens in Windows Media Player, Adobe Flash, or anything that has audio. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

I'm still not having any luck. After doing some tests, I determined that the mouse and keyboard are affected too. Every 30 seconds, on the second, everything stutters for less than a second. In addition to the audio problems described, the keyboard stops taking input and the mouse automatically clicks a link if the cursor is hovered over it. Any ideas on what's going on?

I use my computer mainly for living room entertainment and I use my HDTV (LG LED 1080p) as my main computer screen. Everything used to work fine but I've recently started having problems with the sound. When I turn the computer on, the sound works perfectly. However, if I close the TV or change the input from my computer to anything else, and then go back to the computer, the sound is gone.

I looked through the sound options in the Control panel and noticed that the sound problem comes from my TV speakers (identified as AMD HDMI output) being unplugged. This is obviously impossible because the speakers are in the TV so this must be a Windows problem. This output works perfectly when the sound is on.

My TV is connected to my computer through a single HDMI cable for sound and image (ATI Radeon 5700 graphics card and ASUS M4A79XTD EVO motherboard on-board soundcard, both with latest drivers). I use Windows 7 premium home edition 64-bit and I have 4 GB of RAM.

I found that either logging off from Windows or restarting the computer will bring the sound back on. Unfortunately, as soon as I turn off the TV or change the input, the sound goes off again. I am looking for a less bothersome and more permanent solution to the problem. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

A:Windows 7 Unplugging my HDMI display's speakers

First step would be to update (or reinstall if you have the latest) the drivers for your video card. The video card senses when something is plugged into the HDMI port, and controls that (not Windows).

Go to the AMD site and get the latest drivers, including the Catalyst Control Center.

Problem: AMD HDMI output would not play sound via HDMI cable to monitor speakers.

Testing the AMD HDMI sound output gave the following error message:

Device in use by another application?

This FIX worked for this hardware configuration.

? MSI motherboard
? Realtek Audio onboard (built into motherboard)
? AMD Video board installed withHDMI cable to monitor
? See how the Device Manager sound devices should look when correctly configured below.

Issue(s):

1. The Realtek HDMI Drivers had been assigned to the AMD HDMI card under Device Manager, Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

2. There are multiple hardware devices/drivers that are conflicting.

Actions Required:

1. There are 2 instances of the AMD HDMI card that should be shown under Device Manager.

2. You must uninstall the Realtek hardware and drivers so that only the AMD HDMI device is showing.

3. The AMD HDMI and Microsoft device drivers must be assigned to the AMD hardware.

How to fix:
1. Under the Device Manager sub-heading ?Audio inputs and outputs?
? AMD HDMI Output (High definition Audio device)
? Right click and select Properties, Driver, should show driver provided by: Microsoft

2. Under the heading ?Sound, Video and Game Controllers?
? AMD High definition audio device
? Right click on the device to display the menu window
? Select Properties, Driver tab
? Driver Provider should say: Advanced Micro Devices

I have the same issue in windows 10 home 64 bit-
HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

When I right click on the volume control, the options it shows are:
open volume control
playback devices
recording devices
sounds
volume control options

It does not give me a properties option.

Then I went to control panel and searched for sound. Then I saw the screen below. There was a Digital Audio as well and I clicked 'Don't use this device(disable)' on it by mistake and clicked OK.

Now, I only have Speakers option. How do I get the Digital Audio option back in here? I think that will solve my original problem.

Thanks

I recently purchased iSound Ice Speakers. They are USB speakers, and also work on Apple products. I want to watch a video on Youtube, and I want it to be louder, but when I plug in the speakers, they don't work.
They don't show up under Control Panel> Sounds, even when I right click "Show disabled and disconnected devices". They do however light up when I plug them in.
Thanks for any help.

Are there any drivers that need installing? Sounds like it needs them.

After doing a Win7 to Win10 update my bluetooth no longer works.
When the laptop first started up I quickly saw a message (new feature of Win10 ? ) on the right - something about bluetooth device disabled but it came and went so fast I couldn't read it.  And I haven't seen it since.
I checked device manager and it does not list anything pertaining to 'bluetooth'. Also when the XPS 1647 first starts the bluetooth light on the front comes on but as Win10 loads it shuts off and stays off.
Thank you...
