Hello, I just opened my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl0xx and i was able to plug in a monitor via HDMI and it worked fine. Then I updated the BOIS as per the alert and update I got through the HP Support Assistant, and now the monitor will no longer work. I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hi Hoping someone can assist, I have a spectre x360 connected to a Samsung Smart TV via HDMI. Screen is recognised OK as the laptop screen flickers when plgging in, problem is that the TV screen suddenly goes blank (black) for no apparent reason then reappears, again for no obvious reason. Tried various different cables and different HDMI ports on TV and all behave the same, this doesn't occur at all when using other laptops connected to the TV using same cables. Doesn;t appear to be cable led either as wiggling cable and therefore port doesn't seem to affect either the black out or reappearance ? Help !

I bought the new Spectre x360 (13-w023dx) and a USB-C to HDMI adapter (also HP). The video works fine but the audio is very intermittent if playing through the TV. The audio is fine if I switch it to laptop speakers. I reinstalled the audio drivers and updated the BIOS but that made no change. Any idea what could cause this or how to fix it? I tested the TV and the cable with another computer (with an HDMI out port) and everything works fine. The only thing that doesn't work is the audio through the adapter.Read other answers

I have only a USB3 connector on the left side and two USB-C connectors on the right side. There are no other connectors. Is there another way to connect my monitor to my teleprompter using Bluetooth or wifi oran adapter cable from USB-C to connect via HDMI or VGA? I am on a deadline and would appreciate some help.

Hi All, Just purchased HP Spectre x360 - 13-4007tu in Oct. Upgraded immediately to win 10 on receipt and updated all the drivers automatically via HP support assistant. Finnaly Got a chance to connect the notebook to my TV via HDMI. However it DOES NOT detect any external monitor except the built-in in the "graphics properties" -"select display". But when I connect to my old lenovo laptop, it picks up the same setting ( TV via HDMI ) straight away I have double checked all windows / Hp updates all latest ; go back and give a few tries and still no-go. Please help as to say the least i am very dissapointed of HP for such a high-end work machine. The audio has been buzzy and scratchy but not crucial, whereas HDMI is for any presentation etc. Thanks for your help.

I think the usb-c ports on my Spectre x360 convertible laptop are faulty. I just bought the computer at Best Buy in late Dec. 2016. The reasons I think this may be true are: Whenever I move the laptop while the usb-c is plugged in to an external monitor, the monitor temporarily disconnects, even though the movement may be slight.A couple of times per week, I will find that the laptop did not charge overnight, even though the charger was plugged in. The computer will begin charging once I unplug and replug the power cord.I have had great difficulty connecting to an external monitor, which works fine with other computers. I have tried multiple usb-c converters (one for hdmi, one for displayport, and now, a universal hub that connects power, hdmi, and usb in one place). I have also tried different hdmi and displayport cables, so the problem is not with the connectors or the cables. The monitor cuts out frequently (when the computer is moved, but also when it is not being touched). Many times, I will plug the hdmi or displayport cable in to the computer, and the monitor simply does not receive a signal. If anyone else has experienced similar issues or may help me figure out how to fix these issues, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.Read other answers
Hi, I have bought my HP Spectre x360 Convertible for a week and I have an issue with the screen hinge. When I open or close the screen, one of the hinge makes a low noise like it is cracking. After I checked on it, I realised that the hinge are slightly uneven, which makes it touch the metal body. Not sure if this will makes an issue later on, but it already makes a scratch on the metal body when I open or close the lid. The sounds it makes is unpleasant to hear as well.Is there any way to fix this problem? Thanks Regards,SyedRead other answers
I received a Spectre x360 about a week ago now, and have noticed that under even light use (only 2-4 chrome tabs open) the bottom of the laptop gets hot and under moderate stress (watching a 1080p YouTube video) the bottom gets practically untouchably hot. I had heard that it got "warm" under medium use, but this seems a bit unusual, especially for a "premium" laptop. I've looked around on the forums to see if there's something I can rectify, so have tried updating the BIOS to no avail. I also doubt there is any dust clogging the fans, considering the issue has been occurring since day 1. Is there anything else I could try without having to open it up, such as a way to make the fan kick in sooner, as I'd hate to send back what is otherwise an excellent laptop.Read other answers

Hi there, I am having an issue with my touch pad on the spectre x360 where if I try to make slight movements (i.e. a very small swipe or movement of the cursor) the cursor automatically snaps back to the position it was in before I touched the pad. This makes precision extremely difficult because I have to make a larger swipe and then bring the cursor back around to what I want to click on in order for it to not snap back. I have updated all the drivers for the system and I have tried cycling on and off most of the Synaptics settings to no avail. I performed a screen capture so you can see the snapping I am talking about (it is a little hard to see because the screen capture is low fps). http://screencast.com/t/mBEJCmmWge6 Does anyone have any suggestions for this? It is extremely annoying and would greatly appreciate any help!

I've had a handful of issues with my Spectre but this one is definitely the most annoying. While listening to music, particularly on YouTube via Chrome, the audio playback freezes when either a new video is automatically or manually played. This is characterized by the video being stuck at 0:00, and no sound can be played from the browser or the system itself. The only way to "fix" this is to right click the sound icon, go to playback devices, and disable/enable the "speakers" device (Intel Smart Sound Technology). This has been getting much worse in recent time, where I'll have to disable/enable the speakers device after almost every video I watch. This isn't a problem at all when my Spectre it connected to my monitor via HDMI (in which the speakers are connected to my monitor, so I get the audio that way). It's only a problem when I'm using the notebook speakers or earphones via the earphone jack. Has anyone who has experienced this issue been able to fix it? I've tried updating the sound drivers but have had no success (and don't even get me started on the garbage DTS control panel bs). Any help with this would be much appreciated.Read other answers

I've had the HP Spretre x360 for a good couple of months now, and I was loving it until one of the keys on the keyboard key begin to stick, specifically the "tab" key. I popped it off thinking no harm would be done (not a smart move), but I think I might have damaged the very small plastic hooks that were holding it in. This is my first Ultrabook, and I had no idea that the construction for the keys was so fragile. Anyone with sticking keys on this machine should not pop off the keys or risk damaging those small plastic hooks you can see in the image below (that got rotated for some unknown reason). If anyone from HP could tell me how to get a new "TAB" key, that would be great. Also, guidance about putting a new key would be nice too. Those with sticking keys should be cautious if you plan on taking the keys out. The Product Model is HP Spectre x360 - 13-4002dx.

Greetings for the day dqthehoang, Regarding the battery life and battery backup that has been mentioned here, when the unit says battery upto 12hours, on a idle situation the battery life is upto 12hours or when you are using minimal applications, There are certain applications which would use more battery power, check when you are using any particular application if the battery drains, try updating BIOS through HP.com and Try running battery test through HPSA to check the functionality of the battery, Perform battery calibration on a timely manner to keep the battery in good shape. I have an HP Spectre X360 which I bought less than a year ago.
The computer was functioning perfectly up until a couple days ago, when I turned it on and noticed the display not working correctly. It is hard to describe the problem, but basically there is very intense burn ins, which are especially pronounced around the edges, and there is also severe display lag. The colours in general are also inaccurate and look unusual. Videos are practically impossible to watch (everything looks extremely dark, and colours look almost inverted).
The laptop is an HP Spectre X360, with 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, i7 Processor, and Intel HD 55o0 Integrated Graphics.
At this point I'm not even sure if it is a hardware or software problem.
Thanks for any help guys, I always do appreciate your help.

Hi there I own a HP Spectre x360 - 13-4070nz (ENERGY STAR) and I just acquired a Bluetooth Headset from Bose, the new Bose QC 35. The headset works like a charm any Windows 10 PC I tried (Dell XPS13, Lenovo Yoga) and with my Android Nexus 5X. However, I have a blocker issue if I use it with the Spectre x360. Pairing works, even if I had to repeat the process several times. Once paired, listening to music works mostly fine ? in stereo mode. The problem arises when I try to perform a call. The problem is the same with any program, Skype, Skype For Business, Skype Preview or my Softphone (Bria). I can hear the counterpart, but they can only hear a really loud static noise. I tried an Echo / sound test service with Skype, and the recorded sound is exactly as my counterpart described. I can record and attach it if you want.I have updated all drivers, soundcard, Bluetooth, BIOS, I have updated from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Anniversary update, and I have update the QC35 from 1.0.3 to 1.06. Nothing helps. I have tried all possible setting configuration, remove the Bluetooth device, added it again etc. Still static noise. It is clearly an issue with the Spectre x360, and as far as I know this model had several other Bluetooth issues before. Therefore my question to HP: could you please look into it and update the drivers to support the Bose QC35, which is a hit on the market?Thank you and best regardsRead other answers

It didn't help. Would really appreciate your help. I think this is not a common thing in a new laptop.Read other answers
Hello, I just bought a new Spectre x360 (13-4101dx, pre-loaded with Windows 10) and I'm having issues with the Synaptics touchpad. After a Windows update, the driver was updated to version 184.108.40.206. I have reverse scrolling disabled but for some applications, the two finger scrolling is still reversed. Applications like Google Chrome and Device Manager work fine, the reverse scrolling is disabled. However, for applications like Windows settings, Microsoft Edge, and pretty much everything Windows-related, it seems to be permanently reversed. Also, every time I restart my laptop, all of the settings are reverted back to default. Now, on my HP Envy 15-j000, I have the same driver (220.127.116.11) and I don't face the same issues with reverse scrolling being "permanent" on Windows-related applications. However, the settings do still reset itself after every reboot. How can I fix this? Will Synaptics be releasing a fixed driver for this or am I just missing something? I absolutely hate reverse scrolling and only a small handful of my applications actually run with it disabled...
I have this same issue with my HP OMEN using driver 18.104.22.168, windows update says this is the latest driver. Scrolling remains inverted in some apps/settings. I fixed this issue by reverting to an older driver (22.214.171.124), scrolling is now uniform. Kinda annoying that I had to fix it this way, but I had to go the HP Omen driver/support page and download the driver for the synaptics touchpad (even though HP's website insists you use Windows update for Windows 10). I then had to install the old driver, go into device manager and roll back the driver to 126.96.36.199 - you have to do this otherwise Win 10 will just use the latest driver. After that you can change the setting in the synaptics clickpad settings and it will be uniform. This was what worked for me.Read other 7 answers
So I got a brand new13 inch HP Spectre X360 on August 24. I really wanted this laptop over the Mac because I felt it was lighter than a Pro, more powerful than an Air, had a great display, plus was more vessatile than the two due to its rotation capability. To my disappointment, I quickly found out the trackpad seemed loose (you could feel a slight rattle by lightly pressing down the middle). 15 days later, I exchanged it at Best Buy only to find, low and behold, my new one having the same exact issue with the trackpad. Not only that, but I feel that even the screen hinge is ever so slightly loose. Not that it moves in laptop, tent, or presentation mode -- but when I type quick I feel the screen shake just a tiny bit. Moreover, when in tablet mode, the two halves of the computer (the screen and back of the keyboard underneath it) don't stick together. They pry apart about an inch. I called HP and they said it could be my particular local Best Buy bought a bad bunch or something? I did see other threads on here with people complaining about the trackpad, and some have suggested that there are some 'malfunctioned' unitss and that if one were to keep exchanging, they would eventually get a good one. I also have slight cackling of speakers without headphones when playing music. So should I exchange for a second time? Would Best Buy be upset -- do they have a limit on this sort of thing? And if it helps, I have the three year warranty/Geek Squad tech support package... Read more

I have a HP Spectre 13 Ultrabook (Model No. F5C93EA#ABU) originally shipped with Windows 8.1 64 bit.About 2 months ago it was updated to Windows 10 64-bit with no great problems (update in place).Recently I observed that the external HDMI port no longer works when trying to connect to a TV. I have since tested many combinations of external monitors and cables together with other laptops and proved the problem is with this laptop, We have updated windows 10 to the latest aniversary update to attempt to fix the problem and have also uninstalled and reinstalled the Intel Gaphics Driver which is currently at version 10.18.15.4248. This the latest driver is as posted at the HP website and tends to the be the version that is also automatically installed via windows update. I notice that actual baseline release date of 10.18.15.4248 is August last year. Intel have many later non-OEM versions but this is the latest HP OEM version. I am at a loss on how to fix the problem and have had to resort to a plugabble USB3 to HDMI adapter to provide external monitor support.Read other answers
Hi!Have an issue that the screen is flickering. Usually the bottom half and its seems to stop when I turn of wifi (flight mode) . I have tried different drivers and made sure the Bios is updated to the latest version. It comes and goes and get more intense in certain situations but always stops directly when I turn on flight mode. Tried with different combos of WIFI (abgn) but only turning it off seems to work. It can begin after a few minutes or an hour and can go away for hours and then come back. For me it seems as its insufficent sheilding or something like that. Is there some driver that can solve this or is it an hardware issue? I really like this machine but its really anoying with an error like this! Hi Folks, I have a spectre X360 and I am really happy with it. Great product. I recently updated the bios and it was really nice to be rid of the glowing keyboard light LED. There is an issue that has popped up though which is incredibly frustrating, like incredibly annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. The keyboard response to typing a double letter (such as the t in letter) has gone down. In other words my typing speed is now limited because the keyboard isn't as sensitive as it was prior to the bios update. Does anyone know of a setting somewhere where I can increase the sensitivity of the keyboard so I'm not constantly going back to correct a missing double letter? Please! argh it sucks so bad. It has ruined my experience with this machine. -Sam

It also shows you how to restore the default setting that could help as well.Hope this fixes your issue.Thanks.Read other 9 answers
HiI have the HP Spectre 13-4129na x360 Convertible Laptop WINDOWS 10Intel i7-6500U, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, Intel HD 520 Graphics Card, 13 inch Quad HD Touch-Screen, I have used it for less than a week in total and despite: lowering the screen brightnessTurning off all apps (from startup)Turning the power options to balancedupdating biosupdating driverstesting battery in the HP softwaretesting battery in bios The maximum I get from the battery is 3-4 hours despite a claimed 10 hours plus. (that's general browsing, listening to music not labour intensive thing either.) It gets very hot. (I can live with that, but the battery length is impossible.) Please, I think I've tried everything.Read other answers
I installed some apps and programs and some of them look a bit off. For example, Arduino looks pretty small and has a very small interface/window. The same for Popcorn Time and when installing Solid Works, the installation window is so small you can barely read the information. I tried changing the resolution, updating the BIOS and Graphic Drivers but nothings seems to be changing. Does anyone have the same issue? Has anyone solved it yet? ThanksRead other answers
Product: HP Spectre x360Product #: L0Q59UA#ABL Hi, I'm having a problem with the touchpad's sensitivity and responsiveness. My father bought me this laptop a week or two ago and it's been great. By far the best laptop I've had thus far, but now it is having a major issue with the touchpad. I've scoured and googled this problem and these forums and found similar things but all the solutions offered were ineffective and I'm also having some problems I didn't see reported about. The touchpad was fine at first, and whenever I restart the laptop, it's fine and works as intended. However, a few minutes into use, if that, it starts to act up. By this, I mean the following: The cursor does not go where I intend itIt's laggyLeft click results in that omni-directional scrolling icon and trying to move the mouse means scrolling/moving the page.Right click moves off to the side and is generally weird and cannot click accurately.I can no longer soft tap to click/select something. The mouse moves on its own. As I was typing this, it tried to select/move/edit stuff. It's very erratic and makes typing or clicking or selecting very difficult. The page scrolls down on its own.I'm starting to think my laptop is haunted. There's more I can't think of right now, so I might edit the original post/comment with more info or make a subsequent post in this thread. I've tried to clean the touchpad with a lightly wetted towel (to get rid of any oil finger stains or whatever), and follow... Read more

What's the difference between the HP Spectre x360 and the HP Envy x360? They both look the same. The only noticeable difference is that HP Spectre x360 has a Radiance Infinity display, while HP Envy x360 has an IPS display. Having the same specs, except for the display, why is the Spectre x360 more expensive than the Envy x360 ? Moreover, I thought that IPS is better than TN, which is my guess that is the technology used for the Radiance Infinity.
Hi, You've got few questions about those products. Well, come to a store and yoy can see the differences. Better still, you can buty 2 machines and compare. For build quality, the HP Spectre x360 is much better than the Envy x360 you can also find Pavilion x360 - we are talking about SPECS and BUILD here about plastics and metals about wood and gold. Hey everyone, I'm having this problem with Dota 2 and Diablo III. Whenever I connect my approximately 15" laptop to my 24" monitor using an HDMI cable, it forces me to use a lower resolution in order for the game to not be laggy. When I use my laptop by itself, it can support the highest resolution which is like 1324 x 1024 or something like that, in addition to all the highest settings (except shadow), and the game looks perfect. However, when I connect it to my monitor, there are many more resolutions to choose from, the highest being 1924 x 1000 or something, but when I choose this resolution the game LOOKS like it does when I just use my laptop at the 1324 x 1024 (or something close to that) resolution but it plays much much slower and forces me to use a lower resolution such as 1024 x 800 in order for it to be playable at the cost of graphics. I'm just wondering because when I play other games on my laptop that's hooked up to my monitor the games I play look the exact same on the monitor as they do on the laptop and I'm not forced to use a lower resolution, such as HoN. But when I play dota 2 and Diablo 3, the graphics become shittier on my monitor because I am forced to use a lower resolution. I don't need or want a higher resolution supported by my monitor if using it only makes the game laggy and unplayable, I'd rather use the lower resolution of my laptop with the perfect graphics and have it displayed in that exact way onto the monitor, which is what happe... Flangdoogler, welcome to the Seven Forums.
The full make and model of your laptop would help, as then we could see what it has for graphics in it (GPU). Depending on what it is it is likely that you answered your own question,
Or is that I simply cannot have the same graphics displayed on my laptop (15") be copied exactly onto my monitor (24") due to graphics card reasons?
If the graphics card in the laptop isn't up to running it at high settings and resolution, then one or the other has to be lowered (and most time both) to get the game to be playable.
hello friends DELL users, can you help me? As I am getting older my eyes and neck are not in good condition. I decided to buy DELL monitor - Dell P2217H Professional and I realized there is no HDMI or DISPLAYPORT at my laptop. I bought port replicator DELL - Dell USB-C (M) na HDMI 2.0 (F).
Since I connected all above mentioned devices, my laptop went crazy. No chance to make it sleep and if I switch it off and on, it will not recognize being connected to external monitor. Sometimes laptop does recognize external monitor, but only duplicate the screen. Any advises pls?
Dell CS did not help so much. They sent technician to change MB and it is the same. I reinstalled WIN 10 (factory reset) and the problem persists.
Thanks a lot,

HP's lack of quality control is completely unacceptable and inexcusable, especially given the cost of the Spectre x360 line.I went through 5 (FIVE!) 13-inch Spectre x360's. All but one exhibited very loose trackpads (even very light taps will physically move the trackpad down and have an annoying loose click sound when taking your finger off of it). The one with an okay trackpad had USB-C issues. The trackpad -- arguable THE most important part of a laptop -- now feels like garbage. Hell, there are $200 Windows laptops and Chromebooks that have better trackpads than this $1,200 thing. It's extremely frustrating and disappointing. I REALLY wanted for the Spectre x360 to be my laptop (especially considering there's no other 2-in-1 out there that looks this good and is priced as nicely). Looks like the Lenovo Yoga 720 is next on my list. Just wish it had IR cameras for facial logins.Read other answers
Upon opening the notebook on my desk, a series of cracks surfaced on the upper-left bezel of the screen, and extended across the screen. I keep my notebook for the most part on my desk, and when I travel, I put in the HP leather case, and in a well-paded bag. I've owned this notebook since August last year, and it has performed excellently besides the occaisonal loud fan noise and overheat. I talked with a helpful HP Customer Support Rep, and I was told that if I were to send in my notebook, and screen damage will be presumed inflicted by the customer. I have also been in contact with the HP Executive board, but their reply did not grant me any help. I would like to know if I can send in my notebook for a proper examination, or if I can speak with a case manager on this issue. I really do not want to file a complaint to the BBB, but I feel that will be necessary if the material defect is to be assumed a damage on my part. Thank you in advance. I will include pictures of my display, as well as pictures of the siding to prove the lack of physical/blunt damage.Read other answers
