I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have read and initiated all of the suggestions in the sticky about secure websites on this forum.  When I'm at auduble.com and click the "sign in" link, the URL briefly changes to the sign in URL and then reverts back to the home page.  Strangely, this is the only site I have a problem with.  I am using Win 7, IE9, Norton Internet Security.  The problem started after I upgraded to IE10, although am not convinced that was the cause. I did a Reset on IE, then reverted back to IE9 and then IE8 with no luck, so upgraded to IE9 for now.  I have done complete scans with NIS, MalwareBytes, MalwaeBytes Anti-Rootkit, Super AntiSpyWare, Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool.  I have deleted all cookies, history, temps, MRUs, etc using CCleaner, Disk Cleanup, ATF Cleaner, and IE's browsing history delete.  I don't have this problem with Firefox or Chrome.  I am good at keeping a clean computer and frequently clean up other people's computers, but I have never seen this problem before.  Any suggestions?

You have recently removed one or more virusus from this computer, but now a new one has appeared.

First, AOL is extremely slow to start when I click on the icon. Once I've signed on, after a time a new sign-on screen appears on top of what I'm doing. I cancel that one. Soon I see activity at the bottom of the screen (where ordinarily you see "Done" or "//http:/..." etc. The virus is doing its own AOL activity! Soon afterward AOL is canceled, as if I had canceled it.

Also, Microsoft XP suddenly announces they are having to increase my virtual memory. Paging size is currently at 384 Mb, and my RAM is 1.25 GB. This is happening more and more frequently.

I have again changed my AOL sign-on password, and I no longer permit it to use the password automatically (I have to enter it at each sign on).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I went into my User Accouts in the Control Panel. I deleted a User called Nathon. I created a new user account with Admin authority named Jack.
However, everytime that I start my computer from my morning bootup, the Signon Window has the deleted User, Nathon.
I have to type in Jack, for the new user, and I get into Jacks Account.

Why is Windows not remembering that I have deleted the USER, Nathon?

I have never had such a problem with any of my other windows computers.

After having done the update, I'm having two issues that are bugging me:

1. I cannot change the lock screen from the "cave by the shore" default nor bypass it (Brink is working on the bypass issue I believe)

2. If I go into netplwiz and uncheck the need for a password, the "Welcome" screen has the system default user picture, that drawing of a circle over an arch, not the picture I assigned to the account. With the need for a password, the picture on both the sign-in screen and "Welcome" screen is correct tho.

The lock screen issue I can live with since I normally don't use a password, but the default user picture is bugging me. I went into %ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures and replaced all the default pictures with ones the same name and size of the picture that I have for the account, but it still shows the default.

I've searched around for another place where the default picture is, but cannot find any, even with the search including hidden system files.

Anybody know where the system default user pictures are stored, other than in the User Account Pictures?

Hello TheSchaft,

Q1) I've added OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to be able to disable the lock screen again, but it doesn't do so at startup.

Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10
Q2) I'm not aware of way to stop this yet when you have netplwiz set to automatically sign in to an account at startup. The blue note box at the top of the tutorial below will show you the default locations for account pictures to help.

So I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my machine.

Before I had it set up so that I could log in with a password or fingerprint.

Now it seems my only options are (1) password only OR (2) password, PIN or fingerprint.

I don't want PIN as a sign in option. But I have to enable PIN via "Windows Hello" before enabling Fingerprint sign in.

And once I have fingerprint sign in enabled, if I remove the PIN I lose both PIN and fingerprint sign in options.

Any ideas how I can set up password and fingerprint as my only two sign in options?

Hey everyone

Every now and then my Windows 8.1 x64 shows the first sign-in sequence after a restart. I noticed it most recently happened after a normal Start->Power Options->Restart. I'm quite sure it has also happened after right clicking on start button (Control-X) and restarting from there, as well as from a custom shortcut I have for restart (shutdown.exe /r /t 00).

I had just finished installing IBM SPSS 22 for a class I'm taking, but I think this is unrelated.
It goes through the whole "Setting Up Your PC" and "Installing your apps" screens even though its perfectly fine and and all my data including app data is still there. See the attached file for an example of what was most noticeably shown.

With another incident, something similar to this happened but it actually reset some of my settings for things like MediaMonkey, Connectify Hotspot, GOM Player and VLC player. It was like they had been started for the first time ever with no license information or preferences like Always on Top.

Its not a matter of urgency but I keep worrying that one day it will actually mess with my system in a very annoying way.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Last question how do i add a passworded realm to my site? I have a mysql server as well

A:Html/ftp sign up page

First off there are php/mysql scripts that you can buy that will create folders for people that also gives them an ftp account.

You'll have to look around at http://www.hotscripts.com and to the best of my knowledge most of them cost money.

Second you could use htaccess(assuming you're using apache) to protect your folder.
Heres one little tutorial I quickly grabbed -> http://www.tomsnewbiebooster.com/password-protecting-a-folder.html

You can go to google.com and search for more just type htaccess password protecting folder.

Hello - can anyone please explain this to me. When I arrive at work in the morning I sign in to techsupport before I start work, to see what is happening. This has never been a problem until Friday of last week. When I tried to sign in I got a blank page with this written at the top "In order to accept POST request from this domain the admin must add this domain to the white list". At first I thought it was the computer at work, but then tonight I tried to sign in under my husbands account on this PC and got the same message. Under my own account it is not a problem.

I have a Dell Windows 8.1 computer. For the last couple of months when I turn on the computer and the sign in page comes up there is an overlay of a photo. Once I touch any key it disappears. This photo is one that I had stored in Pictures, so I thought I could go there and remove it. I looked at all pictures thru the Gallery and it is not even there. Don't know where it is saved. So how do I get rid of this?

A:Sign-in page mystery

Are you talking about the Lock Screen? If so, see this Personalize your PC to see how to change the picture.

If you have 8.1 Pro I assume the following still works for eliminating the Lock Screen entirely ...

To disable the lock screen in Windows 8 Pro ...

In a Run box type gpedit.msc (and press ENTER). Navigate to Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Control Panel - Personalization in the left menu. Double-click the Do Not Display the Lock Screen option in the main pane to open a new window. Select the Enabled radio button, click OK. (from PCWorld magazine, March 2013)

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I'm not quite sure what category this fits in.

So I'm trying to login to Wix.com but whenever I go to the sign in page, the sign in page won't load. I can access Wix.com itself, just not the sign in page.

It doesn't work on different browsers (Chrome and Safari), doesn't work on my phone (either when connected to wifi or when connected to 4G), and it doesn't work on other computers connected to my internet.

Methods of fixing I've tried:
Deleting history, cookies etc.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome
Restarting mac
Shutting down mac

I have been having trouble for a month or more with my PC being very slow to load anything, especially the Hotmail Sign in page when I first switch on.
I installed and used RegCleaner yesterday - that was before I read your advice (Geekgirl) saying not to do this! (ask Leo quote). I unfortunately had not discovered this site yesterday.
Hotmail takes well over a minute and a half to load - and everything is slow anyway.
Anybody got any ideas please?

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Spyware can slow down a system by 500% !!! Make sure your system is clean by running multiple scans.

Is the system just slow on the internet or overall slow?

Hi, I am new to Windows 7 32bit. I am having a problem when I am downloading or trying to back up my data on my harddisk, after 1 or 2 minutes the computer reverts back to my sign in page...and it shows that as being 'locked'....and also a 'Change User'-I have a Guest Account but it is turned off. When I resign in it then goes back to the original page but again cycles back to the sign in page..again and again.
I only have an Admin account(password protected) and a Guest account I would like to delete but don't know how.
How do I get this 'unlocked' status off my sign in page(Admin user) and how do I get the computer to stop cycling back to that page whenever I have to perform a task as downloading pictures or backing up my system(which are the only 2 I have encountered SO FAR)..??
Please help,

A:computer going back to sign in page when downloading..

Before it goes to the login screen, does a screensaver or a blank screen and then it goes to the login screen when you move the mouse / press a key. If so, open the start menu and type Change Screensaver. Press enter and then there should be a check box that says "On resume, display logon screen", make sure it is unchecked. Also if you don't want any screensaver (if there is one set), click the drop down box and click "None"

I Hope I'm understanding the question correctly and am giving you the right answer.

I have two laptop computers. Both have WinXP and IE8 on them.
One (Dell) my Hotmail account (Now called Outlook by MS) sign in page shows up fine and it is easy to get
into any of my three different Hotmail accounts.

The other laptop (HP) just shows a blank page when I go to the sign in page for Hotmail. I do not use this computer
as often since it is mainly a backup to the Dell, but I have updated it regularly regarding MS and IE updates as well
as for viruses, spyware, etc..

What do I need to do to get the Hotmail account sign in page to show up properly on my HP?
I do not seem to have any other problems displaying pages or accessing of any other internet sites I try to visit from the
HP computer including this site.

Thanks for any suggestions that anyone has regarding this problem.

Hello. I've changed all my keyboard location settings (as far as I can tell) to French. However, each time I open up my laptop to sign in, the setting on the sign-in page is US. Although it only takes a couple clicks to change it back, it's pretty frustrating to have to do it over and over again. I've spent more than an hour trying to find out if there's a way to fix this and I don't see anything. If anyone can help, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks

I don't know if this is the right place for this topic, but I've narrowed down the problem, so hopefully it is.  I have a new ASUS notebook running Windows 8.1 with IE 11.  I also bought Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013.  I tried to install it, and can put the key # in, and when I click on "Redeem online", the webpage for MS Office comes up, but a pop-up box eventually says the page is taking longer than expected....  and never goes past that point.  If I go directly to the Office website, same thing, pop-up box and message.
If I try to get on that website on another computer, it goes right to the sign-in page.  So its something to do with that actual page on my new ASUS computer.
Any suggestions?

This one is pretty strange...

Friends Gateway E3600 Desktop. After I finished getting it all tuned up with a clean install of XP Home SP2, all critical updates and a new secondary HDD then installed 1GB DDR RAM, then installled Acronis TI and stored a backup image on the slave drive, the following glitch happened after a few months of normal operation.

At power up the sign-in page came up and there were no users shown!!! Couldn't go any further, so my friend called me and I went throungh about 3 cycles of the same thing. Booted into Acronis and restored the last image. Sign-in went through normally.

I opened the Control Panel>Users Accounts and deleted the single user password and checked the 'Use Welcome Sctreen' option and uncheked 'Use fast user switching'. Rebooted and system performed as expected. Went directly to the 'Welcome' screen after the XP logo and progress bar screen and on into the normal desktop. Repeated the boot cycle about 3 times, then created a new differential backup image with Acronis TI and left.

Yesterday (about 7 days later) he called and said he had that same sign-in screen again with no users shown. My friend is totally computer illiterate and there is no chance he got into the User accounts and changed anything. I doubt he even know how to open the Control Panel. I'll be seeing him this week sometime and will probably have to restore the last TI image again.

If no help, it will be a tough one since it is specific to that one sign in page, and they have a known issue who's solution did not help you. If you don't have a second browser to test, it is a good idea to download Firefox, or Chrome to have as a second choice if needed, and to test this issue.

Have gone to http://www.javatester.org/javascript.html which says

JavaScript IS WORKING in your web browser
Your web browser supports JavaScript version 1.7
Your web browser is Chrome version 26.0.1410.

Every web browser identifies itself to websites with a character string called the "user agent". The User Agent string for your web browser is:

Not having this problem with any other website. Yahoo sign-in was working sort-of OK a couple of weeks ago (was able to sign-in but was text-based and most pages were very slow).
Have tried Yahoo Customer Support but again its all text based and cant find a link that you can actually CONTACT people with, only look at static answers - perhaps that also needs Javascript to be detected to work properly!

I have two WindowsXP laptop computers. On one (Dell) which I use regularly, I have no problems with the Hotmail login page or much of anything else.
The other (HP) is used very irregularly since it is a backup. It was working fine the last time I used it a few months ago, but now whenever I try to log into my Hotmail account, the sign in page is blank. I have updated the different MS patches that came out for WinXP while I was not using the account, the Malware and anti-virus programs have been updated and do not detect any problems This problem with the sign in page occurs when I use IE8. When I use Firefox it works fine.

I see other people have had the same problem, but seems like nobody has found a real solution. I am wondering why one computer would work fine while the other developed this problem while being off and unplugged from the wall.

Thanks for any help. I am wondering if I should format the whole computer and then re-install Windows XP which I like better than Windows 7 that I have on a newer computer.

My laptop is password-protected, which is fine when I leave the house with it, but a nuisance at home. I know some smartphones can be set to require no password when in range of my home wi-fi; can Win 10 do the same, and if so, how?

"laptop is password-protected"
"require no password when in range of my home wi-fi"

Those are actually 2 different things, the first is to get the computer working and the second is for connecting to your Wi-Fi Router. My Wi-Fi connection is set to Connect Automatically and usually remembers when I've been connected, sometimes even to Routers where I have use the Notebook.

When I click on email links on websites, instead of my mail program coming up with the address in the "to" line, I get a mail sign in page. To avoid it, I have to right click and copy email address, then go to my mail program and paste it in. What a pain. Can this be fixed?

A:Clicking email links takes me to mail sign-in page

Hello Snail,

Ok bring up control panel:

1. + R
2. type "Control", click "ok"
3.in the search bar type "Default"
4.Click, "set your Default programs"
Note: This will now scan your system for the applications you have installed.
5. Find the application you want set as your default Mail client, click it and press "Set this programme as default"

then click "choose the Defaults for this programme" because we are going to have make sure a few settings are correct.

This is because you need to make sure the option "MAILTO" - Description "URL:Mailto" Is set to the correct Email Client. In this example if this was set to the Windows Mail App when you try and click in your browser to email someone it will load the mail app. If you are wanting to set it to load in outlook you will need to make sure when choosing outlooks defaults this is ticked.

I do not have Outlook installed on the computer i am doing the screenshots on but what you need to make sure is set to the correctly will be shown below.

Click Save, click ok.

Hope this helps,

My younger brother and I share a computer. It is Windows 10 Pro. I was letting him use it while i was asleep. All I know is that he was playing his video games. Anyways, he left the house to go hang out somewhere and i wake up to see that when i turn on the computer, only his account shows at the sign-in screen. Meanwhile, there are THREE accounts on this computer. My account, His account, and a local that my other siblings use sometimes. I restarted and even shut down my computer about 4 times. I waited until he came back and logged on his account to check what was wrong, and I see that my account is still there with all my files and docs. The other local account is there too. I log out to see if my User name is there but it isn't. I tried to see if my account was deactivated using these methods but none of them worked. I've looked on Microsoft's forums but all I found was how to activate the built-in administrator account. Please do your best to help!! I have important work to do on my account but i can't access it.

I have Windows 10 Home on my laptop. I have created Local Accounts by going to Start > netplwiz and creating some users. Most of the users do not have a Password and are not Administrators. I have also checked the option "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Now the problem is that after a reboot/restart or a boot (i.e. Shutdown and then Power On) the last user that was logged gets automatically logged in. So if User A was last using the laptop, he Shutdowns the laptop and then User B starts the Laptop, the OS directly logs into the User A's account. User B has to log out and then log in as User B. This is contrast to what used to happen with Windows 7/Vista/XP.

Please note that this is a fresh Windows 10 laptop and is not an upgrade from Windows 7/8/8.1.

Can you please suggest me how I will be able to get all the users listed on the Login screen at the time of reboot or boot (i.e. Shutdown and then Power On)? The user has to select his ID and then login. Rather the last user login should not happen automatically.
Any help would be appreciated.
Enjoy your day

A:Win Home 10 does not show login/sign in screen after boot or reboot

Hi Addverma, welcome to Ten Forums.

The easiest way is to add passwords to all user accounts. If Windows is shut down or restarted from desktop of a local user who has no password, by default Windows will sign this user in when started next time.

Adding password to all users prevents automatic sign-in of last user.

Another option is to not display usernames in sign-in screen as told in this tutorial: Sign in Screen - Do Not Display User Name in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Notice that Option One in above mentioned tutorial does not work for you because you cannot edit policies in Windows 10 Home. The registry method, Option Two should work in Home Edition, too.

When method in tutorial is used, Windows will not show usernames. All users must enter their username manually, as well as possible password:

I have XP Home on my laptop.. I ran AVG and had many Virut viruses.. AVG cleaned/removed... When I went back to logon on I received the windows logon window. I entered name and PW and then it quickly flashed "loading personal settings" but then it said logging off and went back to the logon screen... This happened over and over.. It does the same in safe mode. I am unable to get into the program....
I then installed XP PRO in the same drive...did not partition. So now when I log on I have a choice between either home or pro but I cannot get into home and that is where most of my files are...
Can anybody help. I do have another PC

Thank you
