I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,
I have a dell XPS2720 and so here is what happened.
I installed PS Now app in my PC and i wanted to get my wireless controller to work so I downloaded and installed SCP driver installer. I ran it but then the computer stopped responding so I decided to do a hard reset.  I held the power button to restart then once the computer and windows started, i am unable to do anything anymore since I am stuck in the home screen.  This is the screen wherein when you press any key or click the mouse, the system prompts you to log in your password to unlock the screen.
My mouse, keyboard and touchscreen are all not responsive.  To isolate the issue, i tried my unifying receiver on another PC and it is working.  I am thinking my drivers perhaps got messed up.
Can you help me?  What can i do given that i can't even log back in to the system.

Hey guys, I have had my TouchSmart for about 2 years, and it's been near a year that my touch input hasn't been working, but since I wasn't really using it, I never followed up until last week. But I was pretty upset when I realized I had a 2 year warranty which was just expired on 02/02/14. I have tried all be basic things that has been suggested on this site or any other sites, such as running Windows update (and yes I installed the optional updates as well). I have also checked and updated all the drivers, and at this point is running out of options. I have a bit of IT experience so I think I know what I'm doing but I'm running out of ideas.      Any suggesstions?  HP TouchSmart 610-1100z CTO Desktop PCWindows 7 Home Premuim - Service Pack 1Product no: QB912AVEverything in Device Manager seems normal (no warning signs) Thank you for help in advance

@Avious_Avi, Thanks for posting. Personally, since you mentioned the touchscreen worked before Windows 8.1, I would do a Windows refresh: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03538721 You can also try updating the drivers of the product to try and get that functionality back.

AS we have properly understood your issue we are going to provide you some steps  please follow these steps:  Do a system search for troubleshooting and select the relevant result. In the new window, click View all from the left-hand menu. From the list that appears, click Hardware and Devices. Click Next and run the wizard through. The tool will automatically detect issues and then repair them. However, it?s by no means comprehensive and you may need to carry on reading. When your touchscreen is slow to respond or records your touch gestures inaccurately, a re-calibration might be all it takes to bring it up to speed. Do a system search for calibrate and select Calibrate the screen for pen or touch. A new window will open containing tablet PC settings. On the Display tab, use the Setup? and the Calibrate? buttons in turn to see if this resolves the issue. Press CTRL + X and select Device Manager. Left click the arrow next to Human Interface Devices to open the dropdown. Right click the listing for HID-compliant touch screen and select Disable. You?ll be asked to confirm this, so click Yes You now need right click the listing again, but this time select Enable.  Following on from the instructions above, with Device Manager still open, right click the HID-compliant touch screen and select Update Driver Software You?ll want to Search automatically for updated driver software.  Once do... Yesterday, after restarting my PC to finish updates from Windows, and installations from Autodesk and MATLab, my keyboard, touch pad and wireless mouse stopped working. After checking the drivers, I found that the keyboard and mouse drivers had a code 32. So I did a system restore before all the updates. Did nothing for the drivers.I tried uninstalling, updating the drivers; didn't work. Then I used CCleaner to clean up registry errors. No changes.Next, I went into the registry and deleted the UpperFilter values for the keyboard and mouse drivers. Code 32 was gone for HID keyboard driver and the HID mouse driver. But now the ps/2 keyboard driver and the synaptics smbus driver now had a code 10.After removing and reconnecting my wireless mouse's usb, I noticed that fixed drivers come and go with it, so I tried to find the drivers for the mouse to try a manual reinstall for my mouse. Couldn't find them, (Logitech's website was of no help). So I got Driver Booster to help me. The program said my PC had a lot of outdated drivers, so I decided to let the program update them all in hopes it would fix both the code 10 and let my mouse work again. And that's how the touchscreen stopped responding. Driver Booster had paused while downloading the driver for the Bluetooth as Windows Defenders stopped it. When I tried to allow the download, I notice my only method of interacting with my PC had failed.I force shut down the PC in hopes that the problem would be fixed. Didn't work.So now, I can... After replugging the power and powering up, it went into recovery.Touchscreen and keyboard worked in recovery mode, was too excited to test TouchPad and mice.Anyways, I'm resetting the PC now. Hopefully this fixes it all.I'm somewhat leary of doing updates, however. Reading around online, some had this issue for their keyboards and mice due to Windows 10 hybrid shutdown and fast startup. I'm going to try to turn that off, update everything, and hope that fixes everything. Will update status later.Hope anyone having similar issues find this useful.

Main issue im having is the keyboard is acting very bizzare. First keypress does not register when I start typing or after pressing the spacebar. shift keys and backspace are intermittent. for example, on this sentence i had to press the "f" key twice as well as press every letter twice after each press of the spacebar. Reinstalled drivers, system restore, malware scans all to no avail. i'd guess it's a hardware issue.now the touchscreen:does not work 99% of the time but randomly appears to. When it's not working windows tells me no touch is available for this display. Seems like a poor connection to me as well as I can't seem to find touch screen drivers. anyone have experience with this?

Hello mpmckee,

First run Antivirus, Malware, and Spyware scans. Remove anything the programs find.

Note: if you need some suggestions on which tools to use, let me know.

Afterwards, test functionally of mouse and keyboard.

If no change, run System Restore, choose a Restore point before the issue started.

Again test behavior of mouse and keyboard.

If the issue has been resolved, go ahead and reinstall windows Updates.

About a year ago the touchscreen on my TouchSmart All-in-One just stopped working. I have been trying to figure out what has caused this and how to fix it, but none of the go-to troubleshooting fixes have worked. My computer starts up and behaves as if it does not have a touchscreen. All the drivers (which I have rolled back and updated multiple times) are fully operational and windows cannot find anything wrong with any devices or drivers. My entire computer for the past year has behaved as it would if it didn't have a touchsceen at all, but I know I have a touchscreen. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I don't know when the touchscreen would normally be detected when booting up, but it seems like this is where the problem is. I'm sorry I can't provide any more information, but that's all I got! It really is the weirdest thing!

Hello, A few weeks ago I purchased a HP ENVY Recline TouchSmart 23-k112eb computer. Upon startup of the computer you can see that the touch gestures are simulated on top of the screen. This keeps going on during the entire time I am using it. Working with the mouse is practically impossible, because it keeps jumping to the upper right corner. Same for the gestures with your finger, you just can?t swipe fast enough. Applications and browser windows are being closed without me asking it. I verified the HP Support Assistant and the Windows Updates. The system indicates that all features are up-to-date. Does anyone have the same problem and does anyone have a solution ?It becomes really frustrating for the moment. Thanks in advance,George

Before this round of trouble I discovered a problem with one of my graphics cards when they were in SLI with Blue screens and other nasty little things occuring when running Windows; I removed my secondary graphics card from the system to see if I could get a more stable OS, which I did.

I decided to test to see if the other graphics card running on it's own would lead to a stable system, however I was getting zeros on the VGA BIOS bootup screen and other problems before I even reached Windows Vista.

I did sucessfully boot into Vista and enter my password (using the keyboard) and move the mouse around, however once I had logged into my profile Vista began asking me if I wanted to install the drivers for the keyboard and mouse, I selected to update from the Internet and when Vista did not find any drivers for either device it disabled them.
Eventually I got both the keyboard and mouse functioning again by reinstalling Intellipoint pro and the Logitech setpoint.

While using the second graphics card I noted some distortions such as zeros appearing on the VGA BIOS screen during boot up, so I decided to switch out the graphics cards again, again this caused Vista to forget about my keyboard and mouse, I am however able to get onto Vista a combination of a cheap usb mouse I had laying around and the Vista on screen keyboard.

The fix I used previously (reinstalling of Intellipoint and Setpoint) has not works,I have also attempted to manually install the drivers through dev... Read more

I have a USB mouse and keyboard, and I have them in my PS/2 ports because my Windows 7 does not see them in the USB-ports.

I bought a wireless Mouse and Keyboard, and they can not be seen by my computer, and they can not be in the ps/2 port.
I have no idea why not, but it would be no problem if my computer could see USB-input devices.

I bought a Wacom Bamboo tablet a few months ago, and it also won't work on my windows 7.

They all work on my other HDD, so it is not a broken USB port.
All my other USB-devices (Stick, DVD-burner, USB chargers, External HDD, Etc.)
do work.
The only things that do not work are input devices like my mouse, keyboard and pen tablet.

I hope someone can help me.

A:USB Mouse and Keyboard not working

I don't if this will fix your problem. When I went to a wireless mouse and keyboard, they wouldn't work also. I found the problem to be is that the usb receiver on my tower wasn't able to pick up the signal. To fix the problem I plugged the receiver in a usb extension cord. This lets the mouse and keyboard to transmit the signal to the usb receiver. No obstructions between the computer and mouse/keyboard. Hope this solves your problem.

I just received a computer for free,
The Conputer is a 'Compaq Deskpro EN'
It is the model with a 733MHz P3 and 10GB HDD.
So; My USB keyboard and mouse does not respond in the already installed Windows XP OS, this means that I cannot type the password in the login screen. My Keyboard/Mouse works when in the BIOS, but nowhere else.
I have also tried using a USB to PS/2 adapter and still nothing.

How can I get them to work in XP?
Thanks for any replies :)

So 2 or so years ago one of my computers pooped out on me. If I am remembering correctly at first i got the google re-direct virus but eventually my mouse and keyboard stopped working entirely. They we're wireless, I gave them new batteries and still nothing. I even tried borrowing from my parents to see if it was just the wireless itself thru usb and still nothing. I remember downloading Norton Antivirus (yes, illegally-gasp, and a dumb move I know) just before it all happened (mouse/keyboard issues) so I'm not sure if thats what caused it and I honestly don't remember what all I did at that point to try and fix it. I'm guessing I d/l Norton to try and get rid of the virus but I think it made things worse and maybe it had a virus too? I think I tried setting the date back after the google issue...? At any rate my parents got me a new computer so I just stopped worrying about it but I'd like to get old pictures and videos off of my old one and tried again today to no avail. I tried with my new keyboard and mouse which are usb and nothing. It immediately takes me to the blue screen chkdsk thing and runs through the 5 steps. B/c the keyboard doesn't work I can't just bypass it but it never fully finishes the 5 steps. It gets to the 5th and doesn't get past 0 percent even after waiting 3 hours. Any idea what is wrong and how I could fix it? A lil help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This would mean there is a problem with the HDD if it can't finish Check Disk. You can remove the HDD from the computer and attach it internally to a desktop computer, Via a USB Adapter or put it in USB Enclosure. If you can access the drive, be sure to do a thorough Anti-Virus scan on the drive before copying any files to the new computer or you will infect that computer too.
