I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Bought this computer at the first week of August.  Set it up and used it for 3 weeks.  Enjoyed the flexibility of the convertible funtion and regularly used the touch and active stylus features.   Then the touch screen and stylus functions stopped working. After multiple attempts to reactivate the features (i.e., restart, new pen battery, software updates) I contacted HP support.  My assumption was that the hardware was bad, the screen had failed in some way, because the software didn't even recongize the touch ability any more.  HP support ran me through the standard solutions, so again restart, etc.  Then they wanted to reset Windows, revert back to the shipped version of the software, erasing all my files, apps, and software that I had migrated from my old computer.  That computer had been recycled at this point.  So I would be left to start over.  My feel was that it was a hardware issue, so why go through the pain of having to reset up the machine.  After some coaxing by the rep, I relented and reset windows.  No help.  The software still could not recognize touch or pen functionality.  Next step was to send the machine in for repair.  They told me it would take 14 days.  That seemed like a long time to go without a computer.  I asked for a replacement machine.  The computer was only 3 weeks old.  They refused.  And no compensation was offered for my lost time. N... Hi, My touchscreen randomly stopped working the other week and I have no idea if it's some sort of keyboard shortcut I accidentally hit or what... I tried to calibrate it under the "Pen and Touch" section of the Control Panel and nothing worked (it didn't recognize my touch at allk to even TRY and calibrate it).  Then I tried Right-clicking the "HID-compliant touch screen" section of the "Human Interface Devices" drop-down tab of my Device Manager, and nothing worked-- I even tried to "Disable" the touch screen and then re-Enable it, but that didn't work.  I also ran a check for an updated driver I may have needed but didn't get when my computer automatically upgraded to Windows 10, but it said that "my touch screen driver was up to date" (which I had a feeling would be the result since my Windows 10 upgrade was months ago and my touchscreen worked fine until just last week... unless my anti-spyware programs: Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes, somehow disabled it...?).  I even tried turning on "Tablet mode" to see if that would work, but nada.  Finally, I figured maybe I accidentally hit some sort of setting that would disable touchscreen while my wireless mouse was on, but touch STILL didn't work when I turned off my mouse. ======> PLEASE HELP ME!!!  Thanks!!!

I've had my Lenovo ideapad Flex 15 for just over a year now, so I guess this is the time at which things start going kerplooey. Today my touchscreen started going haywire, clicking rapidly and repeatedly in one random spot in the top left corner of my screen, so fast I couldn't use my touchpad to get the cursor away from the spot. After closing and reopening the computer, the problem stopped momentarily but then came back. I rebooted and when Windows restarted I received a pop up that "Windows Mouse and Keyboard Center has stopped working." The problem returned shortly after, and now my touchscreen has stopped working altogether. Can anyone help me?

A:Ideapad Flex 15 touchscreen woes

Update: The problem is now intermittently returning. If I close my laptop and reopen it, it seems to disable the touchscreen for a period of time so that I'm able to actually use my computer for a bit before it starts feverishly attacking that one area of the screen. All instructions I've found online to disable the touchscreen haven't worked... I'd love to have it functioning again though. Help?

I've had my ideapad (flex 15 20309) for about 2 years and was working fine. Around 5 months ago I noticed my touchscreen wouldn't work any more. Sometimes after a reboot it would seem to come back to life but now I can't figure out what is going on. I seem to have Microsoft Windows 10 home as the operating system. I can't find any setting or keystroke or anything that can get my touchscreen back to life. Help! My touchpad (mousepad) works fine and I'm using a USB mouse as well because I don't like using the mousepad. The only thing I think has changed in the last 5 or 6 months was probably windows 10 and the regular updates that are done via windows 10.

A:Ideapad S415 touchscreen no longer working

To resolve the touchscreen issue follow below steps.1. Open Device Manager and uninstall all that start with HID- under Human interface devices.2. Restart the system and see if that works. Also perform a Power Drain. If the battery is removable, remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec. Turn the computer back on and check now if touchscreen is working fine.

I  have an Ideapad Flex 15.

Since I upgraded yesterday to Windows 10, I have lost the touchscreen ability I had up to that point on Windows 8.1. On search for pen and touch, I was given this message on a system information page: "No pen or touch input is available for this display." I have looked in device manager under Human Interface Devices. Expanding the view to show hidden devices, I see "HID compliant touch screen." When I click to get device status, this is the message:

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

How do I do that? I note a similar problem in Windows 8.1 on this posting:

I have upgraded to Windows 10 recently and  didn't have any problem but now the defect came up. I have checked the device manager and the HID compliant touch screen driver is there (Version from 2006) and seems to be ok. I have tried to upgrade the driver but Windows says that is the latest version. Is there a driver from Lenovo for the touchscreen device? A couple weeks ago, my touchscreen and usb drivers suddenly disappeared when the laptop did an automatic update and the battery drained over night. I fixed it briefly by going into the advanced start up and restoring my computer to a point before it had stopped working. Well, battery drained over night again and drivers vanished. As did the restore point I had used. I have fixed the usb issue, but I cannot for the life of me get this stupid screen to work. In the device manager, it's listed under "other devices" with a yellow warning. Click it and it brings up Code 28. I have been to the update drivers section on Lenovo. Updated things that I have read on here worked for others, nothing. I have uninstalled, restarted my laptop, driver still won't install. I have run diagnostics and they came up with nothing. Researching into the far reaches of the internet is making my head hurt and not yielding much that's relevant to my model. I have had this laptop for years with no issues (except a few slight manageable ones). It's out of warranty, I can't afford a new one, and depending on how much it could cost me, having someone repair it for me.  Can anyone provide some direction to help me fix this? It isn't hugely pressing now that I have a working mouse, just more of a major annoyance when I habitually poke and swipe the screen. I'm fairly tech savvy, but I've reached my "I want to chuck it over a cliff" limit. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

So I've had this happen countless times. The touchscreen stops working. The laptop is in perfect conditions. The screen, not even a scratch. I format the laptop, it still doesn' work. So, I've always fixed it by installing the AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe from:http://support.hp.com/mx-es/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-14-f000-sleekbook/5375393/model/5403360#... My problem atm is that this time, that process isn't working. The installer opens, installs the thing, then the program opens and immediately closes. This prompts windows to ask me if the driver installed correctly or that if it should attempt to install under a compatibility mode. No matter which I choose, it still does the same thing. It won't stay open for more than 1 second.  I've restored my laptop to factory presets a couple times already and the touchscreen isn't working yet because the driver/program/wizard thingy refuses to stay open after it is done installing. Can anybody help me? Perhaps share a different version of the installer? Thank you.

SOme info about the laptop. Product Name: Sleekbook HP Pavilion 14-f004lOperating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) I've had this problem a couple times already. The touchscreen stops working sporadically and the only way to make it work again is installing the  AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe driver from this site. however this last time I've run into quite the weird problem. The driver installer CLOSES INMEDIATELY BEFORE I CAN DO ANYTHING A couple months ago I posted this:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/AUO-Touchscreen-Firmware-installer-doe... Since then due to time constrains and schoolwork, I did not attempt to restore the BIOS until today.Today I restored the BIOS, followed all procedures they gave me, and the installer for the Touchscreen firmware does the following: -Runs-Asks for permission-Install it-Finishes installing-Runs the program's window-Inmediately closes, I can't even click on anything because it flashes for a second and disappears. I've already restored the laptop to factory presets. The installer DOES THE SAME THINGRestored the BIOS. The installer DOES THE SAME THING So please, do not tell me to restore the laptop. I've done it already. Doesn't work. Same thing for the BIOS. Nothing. Can anyone help me? Thank you

My laptop that worked on his connection is:

1gb RAM

Already have done the following:
Reset internet explorer 7
used the MSCONFIG console to turn off ALL startup processes just in case.
Ran a quick scan with superantispyware

I would have tried a differant browser but I could not download it, took it to my house so I could use a flash drive or let it sit forever and download and to my amazement there was no connectivity issues whatsoever.

I recently acquired a HP Pavilion all in one pc but there seem to be problems with the touchscreen. It registered touches very intermittently, and not always where I touched. First thing I tried was to calibrate it. But it just wouldn't register certain touches in some of the places it wanted me to press. Nest i Reset everything to factory settings, still not working same probs. Installed all the latest drivers and updates, no joy. But one morning I did turn it on and it worked perfectly. For half a day and then it was up to its old tricks.
Took it to a computer shop and they said it needed a new touchscreen card. Basically I want to know, do these touchscreen sort of devices have a piece of hardware, the card, specifically for touchscreen. or is he lying to me and its some software problem he could fix in ten minutes. He's quoting around £40for the card. And another £20-£30 for the labour. Any help would be much appreciated. If there is a card just for the touchscreen then I could believe him. But ive never heard of a card just for that. Any help would be so much appreciated. Had this around 3 weeks for my daughter to use the touchscreen as shes too young for mouse and keyboard, but she'd like a number of touchscreen games as she's very adept at using touchscreen on her tablet. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Hi

I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data.
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)

My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB.

I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)

I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."

What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?

A:Ideapad 100s - Win10 clean installation on ideapad...

 Hi larrens ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation.
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.

But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation.
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).

Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it.

WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.

Hope this answered your query.

I bought a new laptop running Windows 8.1

My 'ALT' key is behaving as my 'FN' key should.
Alt+F4 is opening the screen options, as FN+F4 should have otherwise.
However, FN does NOT behave as the ALT key should.
FN+F4 does nothing (side note: FN+F3 opens the search bar in Chrome).

I'd like to return things to normal, any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Update: ALT works with the ALT+TAB function. I guess the issue is solely with the F1 through F12 functions.

I googled the above phrase (thread title) and came across this page http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/626602-alt-tab-not-working-correctly.html and followed the steps outlined there to no avail. Everything that I found in my search related to specific problems with certain programs not allowing alt+tabbing from them, but otherwise it was functioning normally. Tabbing is fine, both alt keys are fine and functioning well, and I just cannot figure out why I can't alt tab. I've restarted multiple times, I've system restored back, I followed the above listed thread's direction for regedit on "Coolswitch" all to no avail. Halp please.

My usb won't work. I plug hardware in and nothing pops up on the bottom of my pc screen to says that something was inserted into the usb. WHY???

A:Help someone USB is not functioning

Some USB devices require the device be on before Windows will show a new device
Some USB devices do not show up near the system clock (ie mouse)
Some USB devices are USB 2 and some are USB 1 (modern computers have both, but some older computers use USB 1 on the front case and USB 2 on the back of the PC

Or

Your USB device may be faulty
You may need to load new drivers for your USB device to work
The USB cable/or device may be faulty
The Computer's USB device may be faulty (Does a USB mouse work?)

USB problems can get big

A while back, I had a message when starting my compuuter saying (Not word for word) "CPU fan isn't functioning correctly, PC will shut down to prevent damage to CPU)

So I got another CPU fan and it still is giving me the same answer..

The only option I can think of is possibly the mobo.. But if not, any idea what it can be?

Thanks for advance.

A:CPU Fan not functioning...

Best guess is the power pin where you plug in the CPU fan could be damage or no longer transmitting power. Have your mobo check.
