I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

The old adage of "when you're in a hole, stop digging" seems highly appropriate for me. I got a virus/malware issue from an exe file I, rather unwisely, ran. I couldn't run MalwareBytes software or seem to access any websites. Iused an uninfected PC to find a solution on some antivirus forums and using a couple of their ideas I cleaned my PC...so I thought. I have used SuperAntiSpyware, Vundofix, RemoveIT, SDFix. I cannot use or access Malwarebytes Software, Kaspersky, AVG or even the SuperAntiSpyware in "normal" mode - I have to load it in Alternate.

When I cleaned the PC it said I had a virus file which was deleted and several infections upon reboot I seem to be "clean" for 20 or 30 minutes before it starts acting up again.

I have attached the log below....

Hey, I recently put together a PC and I've been having problems with it since. When I initially built it, the specs were:

i7 920 2.67GHz
Asus p6t Motherboard
8gb RAM
500gb Sata II HD
ATI Radeon HD 3870x2 (the card with with 2 GPU's)
500W unbranded PSU
1 added 120m coolermaster fan

Shortly after I started using my PC there was a power surge that knocked the power supply out. I recently got a new power supply. A 650W Silverstone PSU that I thought was more than enough for this. The problem that would occur now is that the computer would restart during games and sometimes while processing/rendering videos in adobe premiere.

When I would enable the 'crossfire' option on my card (to enable both GPU's to work) the computer would no longer just 'restart' the entire screen would hang or the colours would go out of sync shortly after which I'd have to restart the computer. This having happened I assumed the problem was with the graphics card, not the new 650W silverstone I got. I upgraded to a newer card; Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460 768mb. The specs are now as follows:

i7 920 2.67GHz
Asus p6t Motherboard
8gb RAM
500gb Sata II HD
Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460 768mb
650W silverstone PSU
1 added 120m coolermaster fan

After upgrading, games like modern warfare 2 will restart in missions that has a lot of smoke, during a standard windows assessment process the computer will also restart.

There is no overheating issue, the te... Read more

A:PC restart during graphic-intensive tasks. PSU issue? GPU issue? Mobo issue?

You've got Asus motherboard, hence the first thing I'll look at considering the issues you are having, is at RAM settings/voltage in the board's BIOS, these should be exactly the same as on RAM packaging, but even that doesn't guarantee that it may not be the issue, so basically you'll need to fiddle around a bit with settings/voltage in case default specs doesn't work.

You may also consider stress testing your graphic card using OCCT (including vRam). Regards

The issue is simply everytime I've used Etrust virus scan when in Internet explorer (have to be) I minimize it, and when I bring it to normal it's fine, but minimize it and bring it up when it's in the Java folder it freezes, should I do an individual scan on the Java folder to see if it has viruses or just make it a special do not scan folder and un-click it when scanning?

A:Solved: Etrust Viruscan does not like Java Program folder: not virus issue but scanning issue

Hi, Often the applets stored from Java usage will trigger either a detection or an issue as you are seeing from antivirus scanners.

I'd suggest clearing the Java cache: see the attached screenshot, your version may be slightly different but you should be able to see where to look, and what to do. (The attached pic is from a slightly older version of the Java...the steps below are up to date, though)

Control Panel> (Switch to Classic View)> open Java

Find the Settings tab/button, and open that...then find the Delete Files button and click that.
It's just deleting the temporary files left from Java applet usage.

Then, after clearing the cache, run your scan again and see if it works correctly.

I waited until the last minute (literally) to upgrade from Win7 to Win10. During the wait I kept up with all the Win10 HP blogs. My HP all-in-1 printer works great thanks to the support blog but I am still having difficulty getting my BOSE speakers to sound as they did with Beats on Win 7. I have downloaded and installed the compatible IDT HiDef Audio CODEC driver but the sound quality is still poor. The "Speakers/Headphones" property sound setting is "24-bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)". I would like to adjust the treble/bass settings as before - I want my BOSE speakers back!! Any recent recommendations?Thanx!!

Hey, I just got a new motherboard/cpu/smaller case... really nice looking media center edition black case. It all booted up fine, got most the drivers, I have an 80gb HDD on SATA0 and a 320gb on SATA1, 32 bit on 0, 64 bit on 1, Default to 64 bit. It was all working fabulously before, and I fried my CPU, so I decided to go the extra mile for a new mobo and case as well. My 32 bit XP is fine, has all the drivers, everything is tested, USB front and back, front and back audio, and everything else.

On x64 though, it had all the drivers, I even saw it in Device Manager previous to the chaos, and from what I think did it, was GlarysTools or something like that... I uninstalled it, so it has no 'recovery' backup from before. Long story short, I have no device manager that properly works, the console will open, but no devices show, I've done work with it, I've researched and such, and found out that it might have something to do with Plug and Play. I have no 'Plug and Play' service, that could be an issue, though I don't know for sure, but I have Universal Plug and Play Device Host, and SSDP Discovery Service, though both of those are started, and properly working on 'automatic' setting, have restarted the PC numerous times, and restarted the services numerous times with no avail. I also get the message "Configuration Manager: The Plug and Play service or another required service is not available." when double-clicking ANY service. It still goes to the properties prompt,... Hello!

I upgraded to Windows 10 today. I have two issues.

1. I play a game called "Starcraft II" and I have a problem with the game minimizing and maximizing sometimes very slowly, every 5th attempt or so. During this time it takes up to 40 seconds for the game to go through with the maximizing/minimizing process, and ending the task with task manager is not possible.

I have tried messing with MSConfig and reinstalling the game. No luck. Any suggestions?

2. I have an old HDD on my PC installed with windows 7, and on my windows 7 SSD installation I could simply search for shortcuts I placed from my HDD into my SSD. This is no longer possible. Any advice?

Thank you!

This is an issue that Quietman has been helping me with in another forum. It was suggested to take my issue to this level since it hasn't been resolved as of yet. Below is my original question I posted, as well as the log that you folks will need in this forum. Thanks so much for any help.
This is on my laptop running XP. Everything with the laptop works fine except the browsers. I have IE and Firefox with Firefox being the one I always use. Last week I went to use the computer and the browser will load, but won't go anywhere. The indicator in the upper corner just spins and the page stays blank. Also, when I try to use IE, it does the same thing. It also won't let me change the start page. I assume the problem is related to IE and it's rolling over to Firefox. Now here is the kicker, when I run my virus scanner (AVG) it doesn't find anything, but the issue goes away and the browser work fine. That is until I restart the computer. Then the browsers act up again, until I run the virus scan. I've also ran Ad-aware and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware with those finding nothing abnormal either. Any advice on where to go next will be greatly appreciated.

Hi webbinator,Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I am going to assist you with your problem. Please refrain from making any changes to your system (updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might prolong handling your log and make the job for both of us more difficult. To get an idea about the current condition of you computer download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.Set the list of files/folders created to 3 Months and click Continue at the disclaimer screen.Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized).

Note 1: If you have difficulty finding the logs, the logs are in this folder: C:\rsit

Note 2: The tool takes not more than one minute to scan the system. You mention AVG as your antivirus. I see also Norton on your log do you still use Norton ?You might want to save this page on your favorites, so you can find it again when you return.

Hi,

Last week when i was looking at images from a Google search result, an alert came up to say that a virus attack had been blocked on my computer by my AVG (free-edition version 2011). Since then, any Google search results re-direct me to spam sites unless i open up a cached version as well new internet windows randomly opening and taking me to spam sites and porn sites. I'm finding IE8 is running slower than usual, and crashing regularly. I'm running AVG several times a day at the moment, and each time i run it i'm pulling off 150+ tracking cookies, even when i haven't even used the internet. After Googling these tracking cookies to see if they were harmless or not, one site recommended SuperAntiSpyware which i have downloaded and installed, and also running multiple times a day - and is also pulling 100+ tracking cookies. I've run both AVG and SuperAntiSpyware in Safe mode, and while this has pulled off more tracking cookies - it's still failing to catch the actual cause. I've also tried multiple Systems Restores for various dates in the last 6 months, and while the computer works through it all, it'll re-start and say that systems restore was unable to be carried out and that another date needs to be selected. Even when the internet is not open AVG is posting threat alerts - the latest one was for an 'Exploit Blackhole (2008)', and i think it was flagged up in C:/WINDOWS/system32/svchost.exe, but there have been other ones with different names, in different locations.

Hello,
I've been receiving help with my own personal computer in another forum here, and I'm doing this on behalf of a family member who is not very technologically inclined.  Their (this) computer has been running slowly; I come back from school for the summer and find the homepage set to Conduit, he has Babylon toolbar, Defaulttab, Lesstab, and all sorts of nonsense on there from not being careful when downloading/clicking.  So, I searched around and looked for some basic things I could do on this site for general scanning.  There is a 4 step process somewhere on here that involved getting a professional antivirus, using trendmicro/Drsomething scanner, Malwarebytes/superantispyware, and then posting DDS logs here.

I ran the installed, purchased copy of Norton our computers have, which found nothing as I expected (it usually doesn't).  I tried to run trendmicro; he came home and closed it after 3 hours.  I ran malwarebytest; malwaebytes found 156 entries, I had it delete them all.  On reboot, it stayed on BIOS screen for about 3-4 minutes, then shut off.  I restarted and ran superantispyware overnight, it found 500+ entries, and I had it delete them all.  I restarted with the same results at the BIOS screen.  Subsequent restarts led to immediate shutdown on BIOS screen.  I had a flash drive plugged in that I installed the scan software from, which also has an AVG preboot virus scan.  I quickly got into the BIOS se... My father's laptop seems to being have issues with viruses and/or malware. Google searches end up becoming hijacked when the link is clicked for a search result. Norton has caught at 3 viruses/trojans on several occasions in the past week. And there's some random program that pops up claiming the computer is under attack and is being damaged and directs you to click on one of the balloon pop-ups for help.

I have more info, but I have been unable to post on these forums using his laptop and I'm just trying to get SOMETHING posted. If this works, I'll try and add more info including a hijack this log...

Here is what has been happening, it has stopped responding on simple tasks such as Firefox or even Windows Explorer has stopped responding. I checked the Resource Manager and nothing too weird has been going on like my last computer when it had a similar issue. (Last time it the search indexer went haywire and I had to disable it). The disk highest active time jumps from 1 to 100% a when it starts to freeze, but other than that I don't see any programs that are taking up all the resources or anything.

The only thing I have installed was Planetside 2 a Sony game, and after I uninstalled that completely still no results.

Another forum was having issues with this and they said that their HD firmware was to blame.

Anyone have ideas?

pre note: 1) The GMER did not let me select the options "System" Through "Libraries" 2) The GMER that I could do wouldn't finish as my computer would freeze everytime it got to this file C:\SWSetup\Drivers\Audio\WDM\WinXP\92XXM12-2.INI so I couldn't attach the ark.txt 3) I noticed a few things in the attach.txt such as the "Sendori" program. That was one of the recently installed things with PlanetSide 2 already removed.

one more note. When I had tried to run the AVG scanner it got to 77% before I was doing stuff on it which made... Read more

I got home from work last night to find that I am "Infected" and when I go to check task manager to see if I can find the rouge process and stop it, it blocks task manager. I power cycled my computer and tried to run it in safe mode, but when I did, it just kept restarting it. I finally said screw it and logged back on and pulled up task manager as fast as I can, Since I pulled it up, I have not seen any instance of it, but I KNOW its there.
I have been searching the internet (without Google cause Frontier is having a Dns server issue/) and everything I see its telling me to search for certain files. I have and found NOTHING. I know its still there, the sneaky little bugger is planning its next attack. I have ran Malware bytes to see if I could find something, but it found nothing as well.
if anyone could shed some light on this for me, I would be eternally grateful.

I've been having problems with my XP Pro SP2 box for a while. It began with a Google hijacking virus/malware that I could find very little about anywhere.

When I clicked on a Google search results link, the script blocking add-on I have installed in Firefox v.3.6.12 would stop the script and a white screen would appear with a url that started with:
hxxp://plxlestatservlce.com/
and has a long alpha-numeric string after it.

I could get past the problem most of the time if I right-clicked on the link and saved the link URL to the clipboard. I'd right-click again and choose 'Open in New Tab'. Some of the time it would work. If not, I would use another Firefox add-on to open the URL saved on the clipboard in the tab with the 'plxlestatservlce' URL string. This would always work.

I found one post about the 'http://plxlestatservlce.com/' problem when it first began. The post suggested using MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, then Combo-Fix to resolve the problem. I ran MalwareBytes, and it found bugs that I had it fix. I couldn't get ComboFix to run. ComboFix kept giving an error message that it couldn't find a file. I was in the process of sorting the problem out when my mom became sick and I had to put the problem on a back burner.

It was about 3 weeks later before I could get back to the problem. Before I could look for any new info on the Google hijacking problem, a new problem surfaced in the OS, particularly Explorer. I had been wanting... Read more

Okay, this problem has been going on for forever. I have run EVERYTHING possible and nothing is showing up; however, I keep getting hijacked (meaning, when I click on certain links, my browser is hijacked to a spam website [like PCKeeper, etc.]). It is getting increasingly frustrating as no one can solve the problem. Also, when I am surfing some sites, I get annoying "shopping" windows that are "embedded" into the page(s).  I don't know how to get rid of this annoying problem.  Like I said, nothing is showing up in the software programs. Any help or ideas???? Thank you!Edit: Topic moved from Windows 8 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Laptop: Sony Vaio VPCEB2C5E running Windows 7

While visiting websites for a project (investment websites - didn't think there was anything dodgy) my laptop started performing strangely. Several of the keys stopped working - p, shift, odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9), and backspace. If I pressed them, nothing happened. The remaining keys were completely fine.

I did a virus scan with AVG, it found a virus (I did not note the name unfortunately), and cleared it. My laptop went back to normal. I also scanned with Malwarebytes (nothing) and SuperAntiSpyware (found some tracking cookies, but it usually does).

A week later, when I was writing my report and checking my sources (same websites) the keyboard issue occurred again. This time AVG didn't find anything. I changed to Avira which found two files infected with Pidief.ME.3 and 4, but after clearing them I still had the keyboard issue. After lots of attempts to fix it including reinstalling the keyboard drivers and restoring to an earlier restore point, it went mostly back to normal. The issue still occurred sometimes but only for a few seconds before recovering back to normal. The virus scanners continued to be clear. It was like this for about a week.

Yesterday, the issue returned to the point where the keyboard was unusable. The processing is also very slow when the keyboard issue is occurring. I hadn't visited any of the websites I had previously so now I am confused about whether it is a virus, some damage caused b... Read more

I've been wrestling with a strange issue on my PC for the last few days. It seems that when connecting to the internet, my computer will go into random fits whereby it will flash a blue screen for about a second and then restart.

I am running Trend Micro 2008 and discovered that I had a PAK Generic.001 virus. I have found that I do not have blue screen issues while disconnected from the internet. Strangely, this error has coincided with an original attempt to update my Trend Micro 2008 virus definitions. I have noticed that this update was running on several times that I've blue screened.

I have ran HijackThis and included the log below. Can anyone help me here? I want to rule out a software issue before I rush out and buy a new laptop during the recession. Thanks!

I clicked that button over and over and over again to no avail.
This is on my mas laptop mind you and now its picked up crap trojans adware etc which makes no sense ive been as careful as careful can be.
Only once did something strange happen days ago when some stupid LiveJasmin webcam ad popped up out of nowhere.
Im scanning at the moment with malwarebytes ive scanned with superantispyware and it found a lot of tracking cookies which I immediately quarantined .
Malwarebytes found over 9 things in the quick scan that I quarantined and deleted after doing as it said by restarting the computer.
It is now doing a full scan and yesterday it was up to 50,000 something I believe and found 1 thing so far but I can tell something is wrong the laptop is very slow unresponsive sluggish and screwed up now and it was doing fine 2 weeks ago.
Im letting it scan ive looked all over the net and saw that many have had this issue with MSE not turning on and not being able to install it after reinstalling or deleting it and starting over from scratch.
Ive been trying to use Kaspersky and it will not respond at all for some reason.
I also downloaded mcafee site advisor free so it will have those little colors beside the links ive always liked that because it puts those warnings and precautions out there much b... Read more

Hi guys,

Ok this is my first post so please go easy!

Running ESET NOD32 for a couple of years with no real issues on my home PC's but I didn't upgrade it to the latest version a few months ago and left the old version 3 running, it got corrupted by a virus attack so it stopped flagging warning properly and my missus just kept pounding away at the interent while i was away on business. Got back and the computer is low as an arthritic, asmatic three leged dog!

so i unsinstall eset corrupted software and then get a slew of virus's while im downloading the latest version of eset 4 - got it installed and ran indepth in safe mode - cleaned out a ton of viruses which was great - so im halfway back to a fully operational machine but EST can't seem to clean some of them and they are still sitting there opening proccess's -

iexploere.exe
alg.exe
indcrsrv.exe
reader_s.exe
mabidwe.exe
rundll32.exe
soxpeca.exe

these are all running right now and i can't seem to kill them.

here is my hijack this info - i went to changes in the last 3 months i think as it has been that long scince the corruption may have occureed in the anti virus.:

Thanks in advance guys!

Alright so the problem initially started with DEP popping up when I use IE8, but it only pops up AFTER I have already closed the window. Also I get a message that says IE has crashed and must close but only after the window has already been closed.

I also cannot run multiple IE windows, if I have one open and try opening another it simply does not load and stays stuck like that. I sometimes have to close all of my IE windows and start over because anytime I try to open a new window or a new tab, the new window will not finish loading.

Now, a more recent symptom is I get a notice that says "a program cannot display a message on the desktop" and if I would like to veiw it or whatever.
At first it would pop up and disappear so fast I diddnt have time to click anything!
The one time I click read the message, a light blue window opened and all I saw was a loading bar that said "extracting" and the percentage done, so obviously I was like wtffff and closed the window as fast as I could.

Any insight??
I'm not computer illiterate, but I dont know code or anything and would need a bit of instruction as far as finding registry files ect, but I am pretty familiar with my computer.

Other details, My windows auto update is on and has not been turned off (read that this can be a sign of viral activity)
I run AVG free every night at midnight with minimal findings.

I just want to fix this crap. I'd like to surf more than one IE window at once and finally be su... Read more

Hi,

I have an acer aspire 5670 running windows XP professional. I've had it for over 3 years now and never had 1 problem or one spyware...out of nowhere...its infected and I cant get it fixed. I have hijackthis, combofix, malwarebytes, spybot s&d, spywareblaser, superantispyware, atf cleaner, and antivir antivirus on my computer. Ive cleaned out the pc countless times, including deleting all cache and prefetch and temp data...ive cleared out all suspicious keys and paths in the registry. Also, there are multiple hidden objects on my computer (26 to be exact) that I cannot find, view or delete...but I did block them with the group policy editor. Everything I've done only seems to be a temporary fix.

There have been multiple issues with things such as antivirus pro 2007/2009, etc (other fake spyware programs). My google links or other search engine links are all redirected to other sites. After I clean the pc...it fixes the issue but only for a short while. Also, most of my processes in my task manager are UPPERCASE...after i clean the pc...again, they go back to lowercase but only for a short while. Ive deleted spyware with names such as svchast, and multiple other trojans. I'm pretty computer savvy and fix computers in my spare time....so I'm able to stop the issue, but it seems I cannot find the source of my problem and it just keeps coming back. I am going to include a log from hijackthis and anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated... Read more

Starting from yesterday at around 4 pm EST, I start getting weird internet issues. I am connected to the internet but I cannot browse on firefox/internet explorer (I was still on skype with friends). I've later learned that my homepage was being redirected to a yahoo search for spigot. All my homepages were change to this yahoo search. So I went to check what was recently installed/updated and noticed my adobe reader xi and utorrent was on the list. I decided to remove adobe reader xi and saw Spigot (the one on my browsers homepage) there and so I removed it. (I think it came with the upgrade with utorrent since I did a search of those 2 and there were some links). I then did a system restore and it seem to have worked. This wasn't just affecting just me, both my brother and sister were getting the same issue (my sister got a message saying the server has been attacked when she tried to go to a website), they cannot go to any websites. I am expecting a dns changer but not sure since I can ping websites (google/facebook/youtube/reddit) but I kept getting the same ip address when I ping it. This was only happening to laptops/computers, our phones were all working and can access the internet/websites easily.
So the next day, around 1pm, this same issue occurred again. This time, there were no automatic homepage, but the cannot access website issue remained. I can't seem to enter any websites and some even showed up as a security certificate issue. I looked at the details and saw... Read more

(Currently, AVG Free has been catching some Trojans, but I know there's something else going on.)-My PC's running extremely slowly, and has been for a while. I tried some techniques for speeding up Firefox and my PC, to no avail. From time to time I have had virus issues and have dealt with them all myself by researching troubleshooting techniques online, with reasonable success until now.-When I search topics on google and click the links, my browser is redirecting me to other websites the first time I click on them. If I realize the error and then go back and click again, this doesn't happen again. It's sporadic about when it does this - sometimes I get to go where I want to, sometimes I get redirected.-A few days ago I got infected by Antivirus Live, which popped up irritating ads saying I was "infected" every few minutes. I got rid of this using this tutorial - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-remo...-antivirus-live-Then, however, I couldn't get out of the "safe mode with networking" that I used to fix that. Hello:

I am running a Windows XP System. I was updating some of my programs when I came upon the RogueKiller by Tigzy program on my system and decided to run the program to update, which reported back with the following HJPOL key type. I have posted the log below for your review. Below you will also find a AdwCleaner Report and DDS Report. They all seem to look different. Also note that I have note deleted or quarantined anything so I wait for your instruction.

Thank You.
