Q: "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 adapter or hardware-rel...

My laptop will no longer connect to the internet. It can't even locate available WIFI. After troubleshooting the following problems were found: "The Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems""A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken" As for the 2nd problem, all of our other devices are connecting just fine to the internet so it has to be the first problem. I have 46 days left in my warranty. Where the heck do I even take my laptop to get looked at? Can I do anything to resolve the problem at home? HELP please!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I was wondering if anyone is having the same issue I am having. I have a HP Envy m7-n101dx notebook with an Intel ac 7265 dual band wireless adapter running 64bit Windows 10.  The wifi speed is very poor. I have an arris surfboard 6900ac modem/router. I have 300 mb/s internet service. Wired the modem gets about 350 mb/s. On wifi on the 5gz band I have a macbook that regulary gets 180-240 mb/s speeds. I also have a 5 plus year old macbook that gets 150-180 mb/s speeds. Our phones get 100-150 mb/s speeds. But this computer usually only gets about 50-80 mb/s speeds. Often it can dip below those speeds. If I open my router to 8 channels, the speeds will drop to about 8 mb/s.  Very rarely will it get upto 100 mb/s speeds. But it never gets close to the speeds it is rated to get.  I was wondering if anyone was having the same problem and if they have a solution? I have updated drivers, rolled drivers back, dowloaded directly from the intel site, and deleted and reinstalled the network adapter. Nothing has worked.

I have Lenovo y700 gaming laptop. It has windows 10 home operating system. Since past few weeks wireless adapter(Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165) is showing abnormal behavior. Many times wireless/wifi available connections list becomes empty. I have tried installing latest drivers from both Lenovo and Intel website against Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 adapter. I suspect windows 10 updates has done something wrong. Sometimes after trying installing drivers again and again fix the issue but appears again after few restarts.

Hi! First of all, I'm sorry if my English is bad. My laptop is running on Windows 8.1 Single Language. I just bought this about a month ago and I'm having this weird problem.

Cases that my network adapter connects to my computer:
1.) After restart
2.) When the network adapter successfully starts and then shut the computer down then start it again

Cases that my network adapter does not connect to my computer:
1.) Turning the computer on after a few hours from the last shutdown

I have done the following things:
1.) Update the driver
2.) Not allowing the computer to turn off the network adapter
3.) Uninstall and reinstall network adapter
4.) Release and renew IPv4 address
5.) Disable Proset services
6.) Disable Bluetooth driver and services
7.) Set WLAN AutoConfig to automatically start

Is this a hardware related problem or a driver problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Hello, I just got my E560 on 9/27/16. It has windows 7, 64 pro installed. I plugged in the battery and waited an hour or so before turning the system on. Everything booted ok and I entered my hidden router for my wifi. Unfortuanly, it would not connect. I finally dug out an old ethernet cable to hook up and test the system and download some software. I then unhid my router and still was not able to find it. Everyones router in the neigborhood showed up but mine. I call tech support but they claimed that it was my routers software. I have 4 other devices working just fine on the wifi and I even set my printer up for wifi while the router was hidden with no problem. I checked the Lenovo site for updates but the system said everything was up to date. I went to the Intel site and downloaded their current driver for this card. The laptop finally noticed the router while it was unhidden and I again hid the router and rebooted my Laptop. This cured the problem. However, I was displeased with Customer service they tried to tell me it was a problem with my router and not the system and all my drivers shipped from the factory were up to date. I hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

I have just purchased a new HP Pavilion and  want to upgrade the wireless wlan card. This is a great PC and has a Intel Core 4 Gen i7 and so far works good when connected to my LAN via Cat6. I am having issues pulling large CAD files and in looking over the service manual the only option listed for a duel band card is a old N Intel 3160 (1X1) from 2013. I Contacted Intel and was informed that the card should work but that HP tends to Whitelist there BIOS in order to keep customers from upgraded there workstations. The issue I am having is the the Intel 7260 is not listed in my service manual BUT is currently available as a driver download on the support site listed as a Intel 7260/3160 driver. Does anyone know if this product is whitelisted on the BIOS? Hi: From the several posts I have read on the forum you should have no problem installing any wireless card you want in your notebook, as it appears that HP has done away with the BIOS whitelisting of wireless cards. Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. Memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=7582630& Now, I have some bad news for you... You will void the warranty if you install a wireless card or memory yourself. Unfortunately, you have to pretty much take the whole notebook apart to get to the hard drive, memory and wireless card.  You can refer to chapters 5 and 6 of the service manual for the removal and replacement procedures.

Hello,I have been having serious problems with my HP Pavilion 17 Notebook's WiFi driver. It first began with periodic disconnects when I was using Windows 8.1. When I would close the notebook it would disconnect from WiFi, and every few hours it would disconnect as well. (Connection to my router would display a yellow exclamation point, say limited, and all other networks would disappear from view).More recently, within the past week, the disconnects have become far more frequent. I'm talking every 10 minutes or so. Now it's at the point where the lap top is simply unusable. In the past I would just go into devices through the control panel, and disable then enable the Ac3160 driver and that would seem to do the trick to get me through the day. However, now that simply does not work. I am at my wit's end.Yesterday I updated to Windows 10 to see if that would alter the way the driver is behaving - nope.I have unchecked any boxes in power management settings that would disable network connection to save power.I have updated the driver.I could definitely use some help! Thank you.

I just upgraded my laptop wireless adapter from "Broadcom BCM43142" to "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac" upon confirmed that the new card is supported from service manual.  Both latest Intel wireless and bluetooth drivers are installed ( and 18.1.1611.3223 respectively). AC connection works perfectly fine; however, the bluetooth seems to be having issue here.  For pairing and maintain active connection between bluetooth device and laptop, I have to put them right next to each other literally.  Any distance more than 10cm apart, the bluetooth device will be inactive and unusable.  I don't have such problem with Broadcom which I can perform pairing and maintain active connection even a meter apart.  Does anybody face the same issue before with Intel AC 3160 bluetooth?  Or is this a hardware issue with the card itself?

Not sure, but it may be the Bluetooth needs to be set as the Default Playback device.
That is found in Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel, Playback section.

I have the same problem. I have an HP Pavilion 17Z-g000 CTO Touch running Windows 10 Pro with Intel dual-band wireless AC 3165.  The wireless connection continues to randomly drop internet connection.
When I first bought the computer it would crash Win 10 with a blue screen.  After several driver updates, it now just loses connection to the internet.  Clicking on the wireless icon, the network shows it as connected to my wireless router, but with no internet access.  After a while, wi-fi shows as being off, and can't be turned back on, and finally, wi-fi shows as disconnected with no available connections.  If I try to reboot, or shut down, the computer will hang indefinitely until I manually shut down by holding in the power key.
When I turn the computer back on, the wi-fi will show as not connected and will not show any available networks.  To restore the network connection, I have to diable the network controller in device manager, restart the computer, and re-enable the network controller.  This problem occurs both after waking from sleep and after a powerup.  The time it takes for the problem to arise can vary from a  few minutes, to a few hours after logging in.
I have tried the latest drvier from HP,, and also the latest from Intel, but the problem still persists.  HP support says this is a software problem, and since my computer is more than 90 days old, I will have to pay for support.  I told ... Read more

Good morning to all!!

I am trying to connect a Thinkpad to my wireless network. I have 2 other PCs happily chugging along on the network, which is 128-WEP enabled with OPEN authentication. I have typed the same key into the Thinkpad to no avail. I have never run into this problem before with another PC and am leaning toward thinking it's something with the mini PCI adapter? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the settings specific to the configuration of the mini PCI adapter:

11a Transmit Rates: 54Mbps
11b Transmit Rates: 11 Mbps
11d Mode Switch: Enable
80211b Preamble: Long and Short
Auto Transmit Rate: Enable
Extended Channel Mode: Disable (for N. America)
Network Address: Not Present
Power Save Mode: Maximum
Radio On/Off: On
Roam Time (sec): 45
Roam Time Threshold (db): 15
Transmit Power: 100%
Wireless Mode Selection: Auto

I have tried the Wireless Mode Selection in both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz, but it didn't make a diff. My router is D-Link AirPlusG 802.11g and I allow for backwards compatibility, with open authentication. I run a DHCP server for up to 10 clients and am currently only serving 5. As I live in BFE and broadcast my SSID (closest neighbor is 5 miles away lol). I've tried filtering by MAC, as well as disabling the WEP 128 encryption entirely. I'm at a total loss on this one.

I would appreciate some help deciding on the best purchase of a USB wireless adapter for my Windows 8 computer.

I use a Netgear WNDR3700v4 dual band Router, but sadly have discovered that my Windows 8 computer's network adapter only receives 2.4Ghz. Thanks to our cordless phones - I lose the internet every time the phone is used (only on the Windows 8 computer - 7 hums along just fine).

So - I guess I shell out some more money for a USB wireless adapter with 5Ghz capability. I would prefer a mini dongle, but if that's not a good choice I'll live with the stick poking out.

Anyone care to suggest a brand of USB adapter with 5G that plays well with Windows 8? Does it matter if it's USB 2.0 or 3.0?

Hi guys,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 laptop and i like to upgrade the wifi. I bought Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wifi card, when i installed it, it didn't work. First i tried it with windows 10 default driver and later with latest official intel driver. I also tried to install the card again and it didn't work, tried to switch antena cabels still no go. Then i check the wifi card on another Asus laptop (approximately the same age model) and it worked, so the wifi card is working normally.

All the time the card is visible in the device manager and the icon is there to. The icon has the symbol for turned off wifi.

What could be the problem, what can i do?

After Windows update my WiFi adapter (Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165) just stopped working.I tried many drivers, but the official driver did not work, the latest (2017-10) driver from intel's websites is not working either. Rolling back the driver is not working anymore after windows update.I tried static IP, did not help. This is not an adapter issue, because on Ubuntu it's working very well. After connecting to a network, the connection stays alive for 2-5 secs, then the adapter restarts automatically. In event viewer I can see some warnings.WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.Module Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\IWMSSvc.dll It's extremely annoying because it's a "bussiness" category laptop without wireless connection. Any ideas ? Can I download from somewhere some older drivers for this adapter ? Upgrading several T61s both with CPUs and WIFI cards.  Have some with bluetooth some not.  Bluetooth card is inside display screen and would prefer to leave that alone.  Was looking at replacing current b/g wifi cards with a faster one and if possible a combo wifi and bluetooth card.  Will install middleton BIOS to get around whitelist. Will be running Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate in the T61s1.  Will the Intel Wireless-AC 7265 cards work with both wifi and bluetooth in the T61s?2.  Can I somehow disable either the existing bluetooth adapters or the bluetooth in the 7265 cards so I do not get conflicts with 2 bluetooth adapters.I am assuming I can download the drivers for the new adapters from the internet.

The cards and sockets are physically a different size.

I have a Lenovo Yoga Pro and have been using the wireless with no problems.
This evening I was on my computer and watching a video.  Then suddenly I had no connection.
I went to log on again, and found that the Wireless Connections showed as "Unavailable".  Now I know there is a connection since I am currently on it on another computer.
Using the Troubleshoot an error was found:  "The Intel(R) Wireless-N 7250 adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problems.  And the system could not fix it.
Some of the driver information:
Network adapter Wi-Fi driver ---
Intel Wireless N 7260
Inf File Name  c:\windows\inf\netwewo2.inf
Inf File Date   August 22, 2013
Instance Status Flags  0x1802400
Device Manager Status Code   43
Iftype     71
Physical Media Type    9
I checked the wireless status using Network -- Airplane Mode.  Airplane mode is OFF.  Wireless Devices shows only Bluetooth which is ON.  Shouldn't WiFi show here???
I need help to get back on the internet.
Can anyone suggest what to do?
Oh... I turned the computer totally off and then back on already.  No difference.
Thank you for anyone who can help me with this.

Hi: You can't use an Intel wireless card in a computer with AMD hardware.  That is why it doesn't work.  And there is nothing you can do to make it work. Plus your notebook has to have 2 wireless antennas or you can't upgrade the wireless card at all unless you take the whole notebook apart including the display panel to add a second antenna. If your notebook has two antennas, and if you want a dual band wireless N card, you need to get a Broadcom one. Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter --  HP Part # 730668-001
