Installed most recent Windows update; display no longer works except in safe mode

Q: Installed most recent Windows update; display no longer works except in safe mode

I'm running windows xp home edition version 2002, Service Pack 3. My display device is NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti 4400. I installed Windows XP update KB967715 and after I rebooted, once windows xp started, my display flashed about 6 times then went dark. I'm able to use the internet via safe mode. I've uninstalled this windows update and all the ones from Feb: KB958687 and KB960715. I've also reinstalled all my display drivers.

The error messages I received are:
Error code 100000ea, parameter1 835d17e0, parameter2 83465008, parameter3 f79aacb4, parameter4 00000001.

Error code 100000ea, parameter1 834f74d0, parameter2 834ea768, parameter3 f42ffcb4, parameter4 00000001.

Error code 100000ea, parameter1 82dac4f0, parameter2 834b4b10, parameter3 f79aacb4, parameter4 00000001.

I'm at a loss, the next options I can think of are re-installing Windows XP and I'd rather not if I don't have too.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Preferred Solution: Installed most recent Windows update; display no longer works except in safe mode

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Installed most recent Windows update; display no longer works except in safe mode

Hi Rachel and welcome to TSF

You didn't say, but I'm assuming that after the uninstalls the problem is still there.

Try doing a system restore to a time before the updates.

If you can boot in the safe mode and get video, then it must be something that is booting up in regular mode that is messing up the video. Before doing a re-install, look in the msconfig and see if something was installed there that might be the culprit. Under the start tab, the check boxes will let you selectively disable applications that install during normal boot. See if one of them is problematic. What each of those items do can be seen here:

Do you have any red or yellow marks in the Device Manager? That almost always means a device driver problem.

If you have to resort to a re-install of XP, I would suggest a Repair Install which will leave your normal applications and data in tact. Guidance for that can be seen here:

Hope this helps,

I recently purchased a Genius USB plug-in mouse, which worked perfectly straight off the bat. However, after installing the most recent Dell update, it no longer works - not even showing up on the list of connected devices. I have tried updating the drivers on HID-compliant mouse and PS/2 compatible mouse on the devices list, to be told they are already up to date.
Is there a fix for this? The box specifically mentions "There's no software to install" - I don't know if that includes drivers or not. My USB connected headset is still working fine, and that uses drivers, so I don't know what could be the issue.
I have tried using different USB ports, with no effect.

I'm new to this forum and I'm seeking help.
Last night, I turned of my desktop and in the morning I turned it on. When I did so it loaded up to the loading screen with the bar going from left to right and then the screen went black I waited, and waited but nothing happened so i rebooted and same thing appeared. I didn't want to waste my time so i used the recovery disks I have everything backed up so I took a "quick fix" way out. Everything went fine and the computer loaded up then it installed windows updates and I installed my video card drivers, on boot same thing happened < my screen went black. I figured it must of been my video card so I replaced it with my old video card < once again everything booted fine but when I installed the drivers for that card and rebooted it happend again! < screen went black. After a whole day of fiddling around I discovered this much...

Safe mode, works but I think its because it doesn't use video card settings
My video cards I was using
- 9800 GTX with 1gig of ram
- 8500 GT 512mb of ram
-since these two very quiet a bit in size and format it seamed like a software issue.

I tried to upgrade my BIOS but I couldn't find an update beside drivers,

Earlier today I set a some videos to convert and I when I returned the computer was off and the front LED's were flashing. I restarted the computer and there was a loud whirring noise from the graphics card as if it had overheating. After the restart the computer lasted around a minute before the display went off, the fans and LED's were still on but there was no video output. I restarted a number of times but the same thing happened.

I then tried putting another graphics card in the computer but the same thing happened. I then booted the computer in Safe mode and everything works fine. This then lead me to think that this was a software issue rather than a hardware issue.

I then put the hard drive in another computer and everything has been working fine so it must be a hardware issue? The video seems to cut off after the same amount of time each boot, is there some driver/service that is causing something to fail?

I am a bit unsure what to do next?

Any help would be appreciated,

A:No display after a minute, works in safe mode.

Do check for GPU temps. Clean out any dust from it. For checking the temps, you can use MSI Afterburner.

Download the latest drivers for the card from AMD webiste. Remove the old drivers. Reboot in safe mode and run Driver sweeper (you have to download this before you uninstall the drivers). This small utility will remove leftovers of the old driver. Reboot to normal mode and then install the latest driver. Reboot again and check.

Keep us posted.

Hey guys,
I have an HP pavilion dv2915nr laptop and I broke the screen so I removed that and hooked it up to a spare monitor.
Everything was going great until I accidentally knocked out the video cable when I was using the computer and now, every time I turn on the computer, the display shows there's no signal right after the windows loading screen. It'll only work in safe mode or if I uninstall the display adapter driver.
I don't really know what happened - I hope I don't have to replace the graphics card or anything. Please help!

Ok, I'm a newb at this apparently, so can someone help me out with a display problem?

I upgraded my video card from a Radeon 9800 PRO, to a Radeon X1300 PRO. I installed the drivers from the software CD that came with it, but when I rebooted I got no dispaly. I have a LG Flatron monitor that is only a month old, if that matters any. Anyhow, I tried rebooting into safe mode and got a display. Ran dxdiag and found that under video it is running on the built-in VGA driver. It is not recognizing my video card and says to install the drivers for my hardware. Problem is, I've done so several times and it is still not working. Please help. Thanks!

Hello people I require some help.

After Microflops recent updates this Tuesday almost all my games except minecraft (thank god) have stopped working, I click on the desktop icon and some might load to the "click to play" screen but won't do anything after that and STEAM won't load at all.

Now I've been browsing the net and I found that Microsoft decided to release 6 botched patches this Tuesday and one of them KB2859537 has been causing issues with some games for people.

So far to no avail I will add I have uninstalled the KB2859537 patch and tried to do a system restore but it didn't help as all games are still unresponsive.

I have also done a full system scan in safe mode with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwear bites, both of these came up clean.

As I still haven't found a way to get my games running normally again I am wondering if you guys and gals could suggest anything to me as I'm out of ideas.

Also Please note it's nor possible for me to re install windows as I was never issued with the win7 cd when this system was built for me.

Hi there to who ever may be reading.

First of all thanks for taking a look at my issue, the problem as follows :

It shuts down (ie turns off, need to manually press the power button to boot up again) when getting to windows xp desktop.

what i have tried so far:
complete reformat windows xp home

complete reformat windows xp pro

taken the battery out of the motherboard for 30 secs then putting it back in(sometimes this works and it did for a while inabling me to install some softwarelike mobo drivers then after
reboot the problem persisted)

Following that i have tried different batterys and no battery at all each not solving the issue

started in safe mode and installed service pack 3

cleaned processor and heat sink

tried different psu

tried different hard drive (with fresh install)

I originally thought it would be a power issue but i have left it on overnight in safe mode as a test and it never shut down. It only seems to shut down in normal mode! i thought it might be a software issue but i have reinstalled it with different discs and different versions.

I dont think it is a hardware issue as it doesnt turn off when in safe mode, but then i dont think its a software issue because of the multiple clean installs that i have done. So i really dont know.

Please, sombody put me out of my misery. . . . What is wrong with my computer!

Hello there,
I really need help on this one. When I switched on my laptop ( Hp windows 7) , it started as usual and it screened the message " starting windows" as usual , after starting I was expecting the log on screen to come. But there it was, just a black screen while the standard windows tune was heard, there was NO log on screen. It was just black.
Then I went into safe mode with networking. And that's all how it works now.
Please I would be really greatful if you could help me out.
So basically the laptop is functioning all fine in safe mode but wouldn't go further the " starting windows" message in normal mode.

I've been using Intel WiFi Direct (WiDi AKA:Miracast/screen mirroring) to wirelessly screenshare and stream from my Lenovo T430 to my Samsung UN65JU7100 Smart TV for years.  It is a great feature that I have always loved using.  After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 the upgrade purposly removed the Intel WiDi utility and replaced it with Microsoft native Miracast/screen mirroring software.  In theory this is OK becasue Micacast is suppose to be the newer version of WiDi or in other words WiDi became Miracast.  After the upgrade I can discover the TV and the TV and Laptop complete the pairing process.  However, when I try and connect to the TV it connects for a second then kicks me out.  I've upgraded the Intel WiFi drivers, the Intel video drivers, the Intel wired NIC drivers, the Bluetooth drivers, the Samsung TV firmware, updated the Windows 10 OS to the latest 1903 version.  No matter what I do I can't get the laptop to complete the connection.  My Samsung phone also supports miracast.  I can miracast/screen mirror from my Samsung phone to the laptop and stream from the phone to the Laptop just fine.  I can also connect the phone to the TV and stream from the phone to the TV.  So I know both devices are capable of screen mirroring.  I just can't stream directly from the T430 laptop to the TV directly since the Win 10 upgrade and that is super frustrating as it use to work perfectly on Windows 7.  ... I'm new here and in hopes of getting this resolved. I just installed the new Norton Systemworks 2005 and rebooted after installation. When the boot screen got up to the blue screen with the Windows XP logo before displaying the login names where you put in your password, it just stops. I restarted a few times and waiting a few more times thinking it may need to 'finish' installing. But each time gave the same results. Finally, I went in with 'Safe Mode' and got in with no problems. Tried again in normal mode after looking around for any obvious problems (none found)... back to square one. Tried again in 'Safe Mode with Networking' and it failed like normal mode so I suspected a networking problem??? The last thing I tried which made me mad is that I tried to uninstall Norton Systemworks in 'Safe Mode' and that failed!! Anyone in these forums know the cure? :dead:

A:Unable to get to login screen, works in Safe Mode but in Safe Mode w/ Networking

Just a thought

Start \ Run \ msconfig \ diagnostic startup
disable any services attached to your most recent install and restart
should get warning next boot about using msconfig, its ok
One key service that needs to be available is the installer service
Try the uninstall, if doesn't complete
Try the uninstall string in the registry only if you know what you are doing

Under it you will see a list of installed programs. Some don?t show up as words but you can figure out what they are by looking at their values. What you are looking for is the uninstall string. Double click that key as if you were going to modify its value. Do a CTRL + C to copy and then exit the registry editor.

Go to START \ RUN and paste the uninstall sting and hit enter. This should launch the uninstall.

Just a thought though as I am not infront of a test system at the moment. You should research this a little further so you have a clear understanding of what you can and can't do with msconfig.

or simpler yet

Start \ Programs \ Access. \ System Tools \ System Restore

Select restore point prior to install of whats giving you the problem.

Again, Good Luck

PS If you try to install it again, turn of antivirus and other open programs etc..

I have my laptop with Win 8.1 set to automatically download updates and to notify me when any are available so I can see what they are before installing them. When I realized that my almost-daily Windows Defender definition updates were not showing up, I investigated and found no check for updates had occurred since August 4th. I just noticed today that My windows update won't run anymore. It's the red X image that lots of people are describing and when I try to turn it on it says it can't turn on because it's not running. Windows update is not in my services at all, nor is BITS. I've tried getting in command prompt and as far as it tells me, Bits is an invalid service name. wuauserv is also an invalid service name. Its like all of the sudden Windows update and the programs people recommend messing with to fix it are all gone. Windows defender is also not present on my computer anymore. I don't know why. I tried downloading it and it is telling me I already have it. I can see it in my search box but when I click on it to turn it on it says "the specified service does not exist as an installed service."

I am in the process of getting rid of a trojan dropper so I wonder if these problems could be related. I have been able to update just fine in the past.

I had some issues installing my updates initially, so I did them in small chunks in order to prevent my computer from freezing up. Finally I was ready to install service pack 1, but the installation continued to fail. After trying many things, Windows thinks that I have never installed any updates at all, and can't search for new ones. When I try, this is the error I receive:

"An error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer.

Error(s) found:
Code 8007370B Windows update encountered an unknown error."

It also says:

Most recent check for updates: Never
Updates were installed: Never

Which is of course not true. I'd like to try uninstalling these updates so I can try again, but I can't do that if it thinks they aren't there.

I have tried using the Update Readiness tool, which claims to be successful, but changes nothing.

I have run the update troubleshooter which claims to fix two issues, but changes nothing.

I have tried to run sfc /scannow as suggested by many people, but I receive this error:
"Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

I have tried stopping the Windows Update service, deleting the Software Distribution folder, and restarting the service, but it changes nothing.

I'm at my wit's end; this is a company computer and I really need to get it working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Is the replacement motherboard of the same make and model as the old one? If not you will more than likely never boot intoWindows without errors. I would try a repair install of Windows and supply the correct drivers for the new hardware if the motherboard is different than the old one.

Hi, Katie Lyn here,

About a month ago we tried starting up our computer and right before it got to the windows xp welcome page, the screen would go black and nothing would happen. You could even tell that the computer wasn't thinking as the light on the front that always is showing usage, wasn't on. The computer runs fine in Safe Mode. I have run numerous virus scans with Norton Antivirus 2006 and Lava Softs Ad-Aware Personal and it has found nothing.

We thought it might be our Windows XP Professional program so we tried loading it again with no success as the disc ended up being bad. We just purchased a new Windows XP Home Edition and tried loading it on our computer last night and it loaded, but proceeded to have the black screen again when it was going to load up the main screen. It works in safe mode again, but that won't help as we can't even register this new XP unless we can access the internet, which is not possible in safe mode.

Is this a programming glitch or could it be some type of virus on say the CPU? When we ran the new XP we had it format the hard drive which I have heard clears everything.

Any help with this would be so appreciated as we are totally stuck and we would like to not have to get a programmer to come in

A few days ago, I was about 2 minutes into a show on Mozilla, when my computer froze and I encountered the Bsod. My computer is almost 4 years old and due to an electrical sure years ago the motherboard was replaced, and most recent at the start of this year my computer ended up at the point where it couldnt even start, luckily we got that fixed with some new ram and a new copy of windows 7, sadly nothing memory wise was salvaged. Since then I have not once encountered problems with my computer until now.

When it first crashed I restarted and tried to resume my show foolishly, again 2minutes in the Bsod was back. This time I ran chckdsk which failed fairly far through, after which my computer will no longer boot to windows successfully for even a moment in windows. So far my attempts at saving my computer have been; repairing disk on the computer which fails every time, using my windows 7 disc to attempt a repair of windows, and booting a usb with AVG recovery software. The latter of which I used to scan for any potential viruses even though I had panda cloud running when it crashed (fully updated of course), only low level threats showed up all of which I have fixed. Next I performed a SMART health assessment, which failed. It tells me:

To sum up: I can't install or run Dropbox anywhere but in safe mode. Something I'm running in normal Windows 8.1 mode is conflicting. I have searched logs my, but have found nothing, at least nothing I can decipher. Dropbox support couldn't help. Dropbox is the only executable installer I have that won't start. My dropbox account is running like a champ on various other Mac and Windows 7 and 8 machines at school and home. How can I resolve this?
I've had Dropbox 3.03, pro account, Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. Beginning two weeks ago, Dropbox's status had been stuck on "Upgrading Dropbox" and Windows Explorer was using up to 35%  CPU constantly. (I still was able to sync.) The status bar icon finally stopped loading about a week ago. The current Dropbox version is 3.2.9.
I have scanned and continue to scan daily using Avast 2015 (paid version, but usually not installed), Emsisoft, Malwarebytes, and ADWCleaner, all of which say I'm clean.
I uninstalled Dropbox to see if a fresh install would help, including removing all Dropbox folders and, of course, a restart. But, when I download a current version, it won't install. Nothing happens when I click the downloaded file except an increase in Windows Explorer CPU (25%) usage. This happens with both the online and offline downloads. This happens no matter what disk or portable device I try to run the downloaded installation files from.

I'm running W7 SP1 on a Dell Studio XPS. A bit over a month ago my HD went belly up and I ended up doing a System Restore to a new drive. All appeared to go well and have been using the system with no apparent problem. A couple days ago, it dawned on me that I hadn't seen ant recent Windows Updates. When I checked I found that I was receiving "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running...."

I have tried various things and did get it the point where Windows update history showed NEVER and last update showed NEVER rather than "the service not running" message, but that has again reverted to the "service not running" state.

I downloaded SURT and attempted to run it, but it errors out with: Installer encountered an error: 0xc8000247

I've attached screen shot, CBS log and Farbar Scan. If I've missed something, please let me know.

A:Windows Update no longer works after a System Restore to a new HD

run services.msc
scroll to "windows update"
startup type="automatic delayed"?

Try to start it manually there. What error?
Maybe service Windows Update is normal running.... so a fake error message. I found this a long time ago and helped a few people with it

I too kept getting the same error code 0xc8000247, although on Windows Vista 32 bit.
Any microsoft download, did not work. Defender updates, Windows updates, Internet Explorer, Windows
Media Player and more.
These problems all seem to coincide with the time I upgraded my hard drive from a 160gb to a 500gb.
I used Acronis True Image to clone my original HDD and I appeared to have no issues. However after a while I notice I hadn't got any updates for defender. When investigating, I noticed the automatic updates I'd set up weren't working either.
After weeks and weeks of trawling forum after forum, trying different downloads, registry fixes, and loads of other stuff I eventually came across this
It updates the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (IRRT).
It does specify in the link that it is Western Digital drives, so not sure if this is the link for you, but I am sure that the
Intel Driver is the cause of your problem.

Hope it helps.

Yesterday, I had a Windows 8.1 update and today the start button has no right-click functionality. Also, all of the desktop shortcuts that were specific to my user account became hidden. I set the folders to show hidden and now they are back, but semi-transparent. What has happened here?

I really don't want to do a reinstall, because I only did that a month or so ago and had a right game installing all of the applications I use. I tried to create another user account, but it won't let me use the same email address...bit of a problem as that email address is linked to my MS Office 2013 purchase and updates.

Can someone please advise on the best course of action? I know, I know...switch to a Mac. Trouble is, I need some Windows-only products and hate using parallels.

Hello people! I'm visiting my mom for the holidays and so of course I got roped into her tech problems. She has an emachine with windows 7 that won't browse the internet even though it appears to be connected. The internet works fine in safe mode. She didn't have any antivirus software (in fact, she doesn't have that many programs at all) so I downloaded malware bytes and the scan came back clean.

She has Hughesnet (the satellite people) as her ISP and she says that the problem started after they upgraded her modem.

I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem could be, since all the google searches I did on the topic seemed to be some kind of problem with antivirus software (having two conflicting, or some kind of wonky settings) or a virus, neither of which seems to be the case. I installed Hijack This on her PC but since it's 64 bit I don't know if this result is very helpful.

Any guidance you guys could send my way would be super appreciated!

Hello everyone. I'll cut to the chase. I need help because my computer is crashing right after I log in after a reboot. Basically the mouse still works, but everything is completely unresponsive; I cant even ctrl+alt+Delete. I am able to boot into safe mode with no problems and I have already run a couple of anti-spyware (Adaware) and anti-virus (Avast free edition) programs on "full scan" with nothing coming up. I also went ahead and did some registry clean up with CCleaner. Initially I was able to boot windows normally and log on for like 10 min before the crash, but it has been getting shorter and shorter. I don't know if this is relevant, but before all of this stuff started happening I noticed I was getting random RAM spikes from my normal 27%-32% (I have 6 gigs of ram) all the way to like 97%. If it was the result of me downloading a specific program, I don't know what it could be. It wasn't one of those things where I installed something and my computer just got screwed. I tried to provide all the info I could think of. I am pretty much assuming it has to do with the start up programs, but I want to avoid rebooting 100 times to figure out what it could be if one of you guys can just analyze my hijack this report and get to the bottom of this. I appreciate the help.

Yesterday I was playing a game on my HP Laptop when the computer froze. I couldn't move the mouse, open task manager, ctl+alt+delete, nothing. I had to hold the power button down for 10 seconds and do a hard reset. I let it sit for a few minutes and then booted it back up. Ever since, my computer is not working. It seems to take forever to load to Windows, which it never has before, and once it loads to the desktop everything goes to "Not Responding" within about two minutes. I can't do anything but a hard reset. However I can boot to safe mode with networking with no problems, and it works fine. I have not added any new programs or hardware in many months. Windows will boot up like normal, but as soon as I try to open anything (internet, control panel, start menu, etc) it opens and then freezes to "not responding" and I can't do anything but a hard reset.

These are the steps that I have taken so far:

Ran a virus scan through Norton and Hitman Pro, and downloaded Malwarebytes in safemode - all came back clean.
Used msconfig to disable all startup programs and all non-microsoft services. Still having the problem.
Did a "clean" boot from another forum. Still having the problem.
Uninstalled several programs, still having the problem.
Checked all device drivers for updates, everything shows "The driver installed is the most current version". I have no yellow or red flags, even in the hidden devices.
I attempted a system res... Read more

Hi All!
I have a windows 7 laptop (can't find my original Windows 7 CD's that came with the comp).
I turn the computer on, enter my password, and everything loads up.
But, I can't open anything once I'm there... Not the desktop icons, not the toolbar icons, not even the start menu! Ctl-Alt-Del doesn't work either!
I had some malware that I removed using malware bytes.  After I removed it, these problems started!  Before then the only problems were some lagging and random video ads playing on pages I was visiting.
I also found "MyPCBackUp" program, which I was told was a virus.  I deleted that too.
The only way I can get ANYTHING done is to open in "Safe Mode with Networking."  I can use most of my programs including anti-virus and chrome.
I've been told that a virus may have corrupted the operating system.
I'm not sure what to do!

Alright, so, last night I was in a hurry, and didn't want my laptop to take long to shut down, so I did something stupid that I never do. I shut down by holding the power button. About fifteen minutes later when I came back and turned it on, it let me log in like normal (slightly slower than normal now that I think about it) and all seemed fine. But after about a minute, it just froze. The screen glazed over as a whitish shade and my cursor became the loading circle, nothing worked. I pressed ctrl + alt + delete and it sent me to a black screen with my cursor. I tried again, and again, and again to no avail. It works perfectly in safe mode though, no problems at all. I even tried system restore, and that did not help a thing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It's a new build, right from the start i noticed it would freeze periodically. Google chrome has been very slow loading pages and sometimes it will hang, being a good few few before it brings up the task manager options when i press ctrl + alt + del.

Im now running it in safe mode and it runs fine, works fast and loads the pages fast. Loading windows normally it's now so bad that the desktop icons don't even load properly. It can't be malware or anything because as ive said, it's been this way from the start.

I went and disabled a lot of the startup things from msconfig and still no difference

Ive updated my system as per the rules so should be on my profile.

Any help is appreciated.

My Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit works only in Safe Mode with Networking.

If I try to start Windows Normaly; it crashes and restarts with the message that Windows has recovered from an expected error. It's a blue screen with some memory dump message... I can't really read it as the screen disappears... It keeps happening.

It is Lenovo Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium (SP2) with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.10GHz; 3GB (2+1) RAM, 32-bit OS.

It had C: & D:

(i) I have taken backup of my Data.
(ii) I have tried to run on both the RAMs (1 GB & 2 GB) to see if the problem was with any of the RAM. It still restarts.
(iii) It runs fine in Safe Mode with Networking
(iv) I have formatted D:
(v) I have run chkdsk to check any error on C: it didn't find any error.
(vi) I have re-installed Windows Vista Home premium (using lenovo product recovery DVD) & upgraded to Service Pack 2.
(vii) I have also updated Device Drivers.
(viii) I couldn't run OneTouch System Restore as I had increased size of my C: partition.

However problem remains. It keeps restarting. I cannot run Windows Update to look for an Windows Patches as my machine restarts.
and I assume I cannot run Windows Update in Safe Mode.

If it is an hardware Issue then how come it is working in Safe Mode with Networking.

What could be the problem? Someone please help.

A:My Windows works only in Safe Mode with Networking but not Normally. Help needed!

Windows Safe Mode loads Windows with minimal drivers. If it works in Safe Mode but not normal mode, it is one or more of the drivers. You should not have removed the Recovery partition, this included all your default drivers and would have been real easy to restore your computer.
Try to start Normally. When it fails, boot into Safe Mode with Networking and go to Start/Search and type event viewer and press enter open up the Windows and Systems logs and look for anything with a Red X (critical) double clicking it will give you the properties and tell you what driver or program is that is causing the problem. You can also download Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer which will tell you as well. If you are getting BSOD, please click on this link Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista and do those things and post in that section of the forum and not here please.

I recently purchased a Bush 42" HD ready LED FS TV with HDMI ports so I could connect my Medion laptop, with HDMI output, to watch HD movies etc and stream Net content to my TV. I set everything up in accordance with both manufacturers recommendations and using the correct HDMI cable. When powering up a signal is automatically detected and I see a display on both TV and laptop screen, but once Windows starts to load the TV screen says "no signal". I have tried all the options in Windows 7 screen resolution menu including projector selection modes but it just will not detect the FS TV screen. However if I go into safe mode the TV display works fine automatically, except of course its a lower resolution and I have no audio as its disabled for some reason in safe mode.

I have read various recommendations on other threads but nothing suited to my issue. It seems to me that basic drivers installed in safe mode do the job fine, but something is happening with Windows 7 when booting up in normal mode and I lose my HDMI output. Why will Windows 7 not detect my HDTV in normal mode?. I could stick with safe mode, except I then dont have the audio!...
