I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HiI have a docking station pro and a T480s with windows 10.Probably since the last firmware update for the T480s (but this might not be related), my external monitor (display port) isn't recognized anymore (I have a Samsung 28 Zoll 4k monitor). I can only connect using the HDMI port from my T480s to connect.Any idea how to solve this issue? I updated everything today (Lenovo, Windows as well as drivers/firmware for docking station) but this didn't resolve the issue. CHeersRenger

I have a T440s presently with a T480s due for delivery this week - It seems that the docking platform for the T440s won't work with the T480s - correct?  I have looked for a similar dock for the T480S without success (though this doesn't always mean something isn't available, just impossible to find on the Lenovo website...)  Can anyone pont me to an Ultr Dock for the T480s - and/or confirm that the one for the T440s won't work?  Is the Thunderbolt 3 dock the closest I can get to the same functionality (without the usefulness of an actual docking base) for the T480?  Thanks for any assistance in advance.

I have a ThinkPad X240 laptop with Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 installed. Sound plays just fine from the laptop's speakers, and when I plug external speakers into the laptop's 3.5mm audio port they work just fine too.But...when the laptop is docked in my Ultra Dock 90W docking station and the external speakers cable is plugged into the dock's audio port, no sound is heard. If I'm playing music through the laptop's speakers, as soon as I plug a cable into the dock's audio port no sound is heard. I can still use the laptop's audio port to connect external speakers, but that defeats the object of having an audio port on the Ultra Dock. The Ultra Dock has (I believe) the latest firmware installed (version 2.22.000) and I have the latest audio drivers installed: in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Realtek High Definition Audio > Driver version is 6.0.1.7188 which is the latest available from Lenovo Support downloads. What do I need to do to get the Ultra Dock's audio port working?Kind regards,/Neil PS. I have an A485 with the ultra docking station using ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10. Whenever I undock the laptop, the USB ports stop working completely. Docking or undocking does not help afterwords. Removing the USB and reattaching does not work. Adding a USB after the undock does not work. It's like the USB ports don't even exist. The only thing that makes the USB ports work again is restarting. I have upgraded the dock firmware, BIOS firmware and upgraded the kernel to the latest version to no avail. Anyone have this issue or know of any fix? Thanks!

According to https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/docksSearch/ the Lenovo T480 20L6 laptop is compatible with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station. However the docking station uses an entirely different power supply than the laptop (the old blocky rectangular one vs the newer mini rounded rectangle). The laptop itself fits on the docking station, but does not charge despite the docking station being plugged in. There are two connector slots on the dock that appear to be for the newer power supply, however neither of those provide power either. Is the docking station incorrectly listed as compatible when it really isn't, is there a hardware malfunction, or something else entirely?

I have of course tried to uninstall/remove device and install it again, but it won't work.  I have a colleague who also has a X1 Carbon, with recent updates and his X1 Carbon works perfectly with my dock. And similarly, my X1 Carbon works perfectly with his dock, which is a Thunderbolt 3 Dock. Edit: Tried to update Dock firmware with driver from https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/no/en/products/monitors-and-projectors/docks/thinkpad-ultra-docking-sta... But problem still remains When I try to run automatic scan for updates through Lenovo support I get the failure message: "The package catalog for your system is currently being updated on the System Update Server. I'm looking for a list of docking stations compatible with my Lenovo thinkpad x240. I've tried a few "universal" ones but they seem to have issues connecting to my laptop (work device) due to, what I believe, the lack of a USB 3.0 connection on the laptop (the drivers seems to attempt to install but fail). So I'm really just looking for confirmation that there are docking stations out there that will work with this laptop. I've had a look at the Accessories and Options Compatibility Matrix (OCM) but that doesn't cover devices prior to 2016 apparently, which my model seems to fall into.

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

Hey all,?I just grabbed a new ultra docking station for my X1C6 - and want to know if anyone's managed to get two 4K external monitors running at 60hz? (with lid closed).?I've hooked up two 4K dells to it via mDP, but can only get one of them at 60hz, while the other seems stuck at 30hz. Looking up the docking station here seems to imply that it CAN'T run two 4K displays at 60hz. Am I reading that right?https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd029622#Ultra%20Docking?If so, this is somewhat disappointing - getting a brand new machine and dock only to discover that it can't even run two displays at full refresh and resolution. I wonder if a thunderbolt adapter for one of the monitors might help??Thanks.

I don't know which notebook model you have, but I'm finding random posts online about HP notebooks only being able to drive one analog monitor at a time, so you may be out of luck there. That docking station firmware update is for Displayport hub built into the docking station.  It can only be updated if you're connected to at least one monitor using displayport.  And it has nothing to do with analog port anyway, so it won't help you even if you could update the firmware.

Hi- I'm considering buying an Ultra Docking Station (40A20090US with the bottom mechanical dock connector) for my recently purchased T470. My intention is to use this computer for home music production, and I need to make sure that I can access the USB-C/TB3 port without difficulty. I plan to purchase a USB-C external sound card for recording, so this is a *must*.  Can anyone confirm that you can indeed plug in USB-C peripherals without difficulty (or sharp right angles that could damage the USB-C cord) while connected to an Ultra Docking Station?  Thanks!

I have a new LG ultra wide monitor that has support for HDMI and DisplayPort that I cannot seem to get working.  I have tried connecting the displayport cable to the dock and montior and I do not get a signal at all.  I have also tried the HDMI connection but I cannot get the resolution to the recommended 2560 x1080. Any direction would be very helpful/.

A:Dell XPS with Docking Station and LG Ultra Wide Monitor...

DisplayLink can support that resolution, but the D1000 is a very old dock that uses a very old DisplayLink chipset, and that particular chipset probably doesn't.  However, even with a newer version of DisplayLink such as would be found in the D6000 dock, DisplayLink would give you an inferior experience at that resolution anyway if you ever did things like gaming or full-screen video.  You really want your display to be directly controlled by the GPU.  So, considering that you have a 9550 that has a Thunderbolt 3 port, you have two options:
- Buy a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, which would tap into the native GPU DisplayPort output wired to that port.
- If you want to have everything connected to a dock, buy either a WD15 or TB16 dock.  Either one would allow the attached display(s) to be driven directly by your GPU rather than through DisplayLink, and unlike your D1000, these docks can additionally charge your system via their USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 cable, so you'd have a true single-cable solution.  The WD15 allows a single display of that resolution (or dual 1080p), and the TB16 allows up to dual 4K displays or three 2560x1600 displays.  Since you have an XPS 15 9550, with the WD15 you'd need the 180W adapter version and with the TB16 you'd need the 240W adapter version.

Hey Lenovo Team, I have a T580 laptop connected to a Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra Pro docking station. There are two monitors connected via Displayport and a third (which is actually a projector) via HDMI. I read that if you were to use three external monitors on a docking station, that you need to get an Ultra Pro Docking station, but I didn't know if that meant three not including the external display. As of now, I can't get the extended desktop to display on the projector, unless one of the other monitors or the built-in monitor on the laptop gets disabled. On the Intel Display software, I am only given three monitors that I can configure, even though there are FOUR on the pull down list. In the Windows Screen Resolution settings, you can see there are four monitors detected, but the fourth one, you can't do anything with and it says it's not active. The graphics drivers software, BIOS, and Ultra Pro Docking station firmware are all up-to-date. I tried configuring the other monitors' resolutions as requested on the support site for resolutions/refresh rates supported (they are all 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz) and yet I still can't get the fourth monitor to work. I'm not sure if there's a BIOS setting that needs changing or what I need to do to get all the monitors to work or if, in fact, you can't get the three external monitors plus the internal laptop monitor to work.Could someone provide some assistance or suggestions to get the monitors working? That would be appreciated!

This review in regards to the next Generation T series from Lenovo.

The machine I tested is based on a Intel i7-8565U 8th Generation Whiskey Lake 1.8GHz quad-core CPU.  It came with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a bright 14? QHD(2560 x 1440) with Dolby Vision 500 nit IPS screen.  The screen I got according to HWiNFO64 is Model LEN40AE with a Monitor name of B14QAN02.0. It looks to my naked eye as the same as my X1 Yoga 3 screen with Dolby Vision.  It?s a very nice screen. This screen does not support touch.  The side bezels have shrunk(see pictures below).

As for graphics.  It came with a Intel UHD Graphics 620 and Nvidia GeForce MX250 with 2GB GDDR5 memory.

For connectivity it came with 2 USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, 1 USB Type-C, 1 HDMI 1.4, 1 Thunderbolt 3, a MicroSD Card reader and 1 Audio Jack.  An interesting feature on this laptop that I personally have not seen before is the left side USB C port can charge other USB C devices.  It can output 5V at 1.5A. I personally have not been able to try this. The Thunderbolt 3 USB C port can also output 5V at 1.5A PLUS it can charge another laptop using P to P 2.0 charging function.  I was not able to test this feature either.

For Networking the T490 came with a Intel AC 9560 and mine came with a Fibocom L850-GL and Bluetooth 5.0.  It also included a Full size ethernet port.

For Docking it supports Thunderbolt 3 Dock, Side Mechanical Dock and USB 3.0 Doc... Read more

Hey all, I cannot hook up my Laptop to the aforementioned docking station without experiencing one or more of the following issues right upon booting up the system: 1.) Video signal does not seem to go through to monitors (black screen).2.) USB periphery (keyboard and/or mouse) is not recognised / usable.3.) Short periods of black screen while windows is running. The issues can be circumvented by either repeated hard reboots or by hooking the laptop to the docking station after the boot up process is completed. Occasional black screens will remain however. I already tried running all Lenovo Software / Firmware updates available for the laptop as well as the docking station - to no avail. Is anyone experiencing similar issues or has anyone figured out a solution yet? Cheers

A:Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docking station does not charge Thinkpad P51 battery.

Everbody's p51 would be the same.  The thunderbolt port won't work as a charging port.  The thunderbolt specs specify 100w max.  That's not enough.  Your thunderbolt port is not for charging.  To charge via the dock, you need a workstation dock, not a thunderbolt dock.  A thinderbolt dock can charge things like an x1 carbon (5th gen) or x1 yoga (2nd gen)

Read more

When installing our new T490 and T590 through SCCM - and using the lenovo sccm driver pack, the touchpad is not responsive to gestures only button clicks - The Trackpoint works fine... Installing Lenovo drivers for mouse and touchpad after the installation does not help.If I look at the driver in Device Manager, everything seems fine - There is a Synaptics Pointing Device present - but also some Microsoft HID Compatible touchpad drivers. If I remove the HID Compatible touchpad drivers - the touchpad starts working - but after a few restarts they are installed again and the touchpad is dead again.Trying to manually install the Synaptics drivers for the HID Compatible touchpad - does not help.Installing on Windows 10 1809

I'm experiencing an issue with intermittent shutdowns on my new T580 (20L9) with the Ultra Docking Station (40AJ). The issue appears to derive from the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework driver, as I typically see a corresponding error (DPTF Event ID 256 - Unhandled Exception) in Event Viewer, the details for which I'm including below. I'm running Windows 10 x64 1803 (Build 17134.81). It appears that certain CPU/GPU-intensive tasks will tip the driver to immediately put the system in sleep mode, so not technically a full system shutdown. Most recently, I attempted to restore a browser session in Chrome after an OS restart, opening a number of browser windows w/ multiple tabs each, which triggered the issue. Over the course of my daily use, it will happen anywhere from one to five times, and it's extremely annoying.

I have not experienced the issue with the system undocked, however, my computer is docked about 90% of the time I'm using the machine, and I did recently update to Win 10 1803, which could be part of the problem (?) I am using **all** of the latest drivers available on Lenovo's site, including that for the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework, version 8.3.10207.5567 as of the time of this post. I'm also running the latest BIOS, i.e. 1.10.

I'm not sure if there's a BIOS setting available that could help with the issue or some power management setting? I'm including the full Event Viewer details below. Please advise.

A:Random sleeps on T580 w/ Ultra Docking Station - Intel Thermal Framework issue

Did you ever get this resolved?  I have a user with the exact same symptoms, but we haven't done a lot of testing off the dock yet.  We've updated to the latest Intel Thermal Framework drivers from Lenovo (Just came out on 6/8) but that didn't help.  Updated to the latest drivers from Intel, no better.  Tried dock firmware, nothing.  Lenovo came out and replaced the system board - no better.  We push a clean corporate image to ALL machines, include a few hundred Thinkpads we have out there, and this is the only one exhibiting this behavior (Also the only T580 we have out there so far, everything else is T480.)  Lenovo wants their image back on it before we do anything else, which is tough because the user is a few hundred miles away.

Good Afternoon. I am searching for a compatible docking station for my HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab584TX. Please suggest me a best docking station for my laptop

A:Please suggest a compatible docking station for my HP Pavili...

There is no "docking station" as that term is properly understood which means a snap-down device that provides power to the laptop through the docking port. There is no docking port. The only thing you can use is a usb 3.0 "port replicator" and there are many of them on the market. Some provide even video out capability with HDMI ports, and gigabit ethernet, and usually include several additional USB 3.0 ports. However, you still have to have the laptop connected to a power supply.  HP makes a usb 3.0 port replicator.  HP model: https://www.amazon.com/HP-3005PR-USB-Port-Replicator/dp/B008KMDVPQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465560449... Other option: https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-UD-3900-Universal-Docking-Ethernet/dp/B00ECDM78E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&... If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I'm expecting the answer is no but thought I'd check before ordering. I'm going to replace my T520 with a Y700 and really don't want to buy another docking station if I don't have to. Can I dock my Y700 in the same dock as a T520. Can I reuse my power adapters? Thanks for any advise.

A:Is a T520 docking station/power adapter compatible...

extremely unlikely. If a dock exists for the y700 and the part # is the same. I doubt it on some many fronts its pointless to list. Look up the systems options.

Hi there guys, Hope this reaches the official team in charge of developing the UEFI for this two laptops. I would like to see an option in the graphic settings to allow me to disable the dedicated GPU (Nvidia MX250 in my case) and run only the laptop with the integrated Intel GPU and another option to run in normal "hybrid" mode. I have observe too, that when I select the option to give the integrated Intel GPU 512MB of video memory it does not retain the option after reboot and sometimes it doesn't even allow me to choose that option.Maybe a bug, I don't know, but I would like to have that fixed too.I'm using the latest UEFI/BIOS (1.52) by the way. Thanks for any feedback in advance. Best Regards,

Hi there,  I have a Thinkpad A31 - 2652 with Windows XP (SP3) and I would like to get a docking tray with the ability to have dual VGA monitors (both external monitors).  I understand that the "ThinkPad T, A, and X Series Dock" has both a VGA and a DVI  I/O ports.  But, here are my questions, what kind of DVI is included with this dock?  Would it be possible then to get a DVI - VGA adapter and attach a monitor to it so the diplay is extended to the second monitor, not just replicated in the second monitor? Thank you.

A:Thinkpad A31 Docking Station

I have a T-30 XP Pro that I used a type 2878 Docking Station for a while.  Yes, I put on a DVI adaptor and it looks like you can do 2 x AGP.
