I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I recently bought SSD (Samsung 850 evo 250GB) to upgrade it in the Z510. After migrating the data, all the OS and apps work faster but I also have that fan issue - as little the CPU is utilized, the fan goes really louder than before.Tried cleaning the registry, SpeedFan... none works. I also tried updating drivers and even re-installing Windows 10 - the issue is still there.Cannot find any solution in the net, please advice how to return the fan back to normal workflow, not lead by the CPU utilization. Thanks!

Soo, I have seen a lot of posts about this issue, but none of them answered my specific question.I have a Lenovo ideapad z510 with i5-4200M processor and a 4GB RAM.I am looking forwards to upgrading my RAM to 8GB (I would like to insert another 4GB). I do realise that the laptop has 2 RAM slots and one of them is empty, but I do not know the specific measurements of the RAM card I should get (hight, width and thickness). Could anyone please inform me of the measurements of the RAM card I should get. I would  also gladly appreciate if someone could suggest a specific 4GB RAM card that would be compatible and would work nicely on my laptop. Hello everyone, posting this here as well just in case...So just the other day I (finally) upgraded my Lenovo Ideapad Z510 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. So far, I'm pretty happy about it, so I'm definitely not regretting it, but there is one thing that it's starting to frustrate me. Basically, when the computer is idle, the screen doesn't turn off after the set amount of time (I have it at 5 minutes on battery, 10 minutes if connected to the AC charger), and the laptop doesn't go to sleep either (it should do so after 10 minutes on battery, 30 minutes with the AC charger). It's really annoying, and I can't figure out why. I have tried to change the settings, disable apps and programs and such, but nothing has solved the problem so far. After looking it up on google, I read about people who had this issue and apparently it was caused by some USB gaming controller connected to the computer. I have no such thing though, the only USB device I have plugged in is my wireless mouse (Logitech). I did try to remove it in case that was the problem, but unfortunately nothing changed: when inactive, the computer still doesn't turn off the screen nor it goes to sleep. I have noticed that if I leave it idle for a while, say 1 or 2 minutes, at one point the brightness decreases slightly for, like, less than a second, and then it goes back to normal, as if someone touched the mouse to "wake up" the laptop (but clearly no one touched anything). Did this ha... Hello, I've just installed a SSD 120GB Plextor M5Pro drive on my Ideapad z510.Laptop is now fast as hell, but cooling fan works too loud now. It activates when CPU usage is about 5% and is much louder than before. When I switched back to 1TB SSHD it's quiet again. There's no fan-controlling option in BIOS and I wonder if theres an BIOS update or addiotional driver that allows adjusting fan speed. It's very annoying becouse laptop is twice louder than before. At 40% of CPU usage temperatures are like this:And the air is cold or barely warm.I request a BIOS or driver update if there's nothing like that now - for many customers that would like to use their SSDs along with z510 model it will be very helpful. Or any other solution that work. Please help.

A:z510 fan loud with SSD

Is it possible that you just think it is louder because the SSD it selve doesn't make any noise so will probably notice the fan more than bevor. I upgraded my Z510 to an SSD too and doesn't hear any difference.

Okay, from what I can tell I have a Lenovo Ideapad z510, and the audio is really messed up. It's been like this for about a year, and I have no idea why. I don't really see anybody else with this problem and I can't figure out what's causing it, but a tech guy I know told me it probably had something to do with moisture.

So basically: No sound at all without headphones/external speakers. Headphones/external speakers only play through one earphone/speaker, which is really frustrating because I've tried multiple pairs of headphones and all of them have the same problem. But, (this is the weird part) if I pull the headphone plug out a little bit and twist it, it'll play what should be through only the right earphone through both.

Please help?

My device: lenovo z510

Issue: I was using win 10 happily after the free upgrade. Suddenly 4-5 days back my cursor started blinking. This is problem no.1. Later I found out that whenever I try to cut/copy-paste anything it also didn't work. Searched a lot online but nothing worked. So I tried to reset windows(keeping win 10). But that to didn't work. Again reset windows, this time back to original one(8.1). Now two extra problems emerged. First is trackpad keeps freezing every 15-20 seconds. Secondly two-finger right click stopped working. Everything else is working like 2-finger scroll, zoom, rotate but not 2-finger right click. Tried a whole lot of things which includes uninstalling, updating drivers to list some. BUT NOTHING WORKED. Seems h/w problem. But no. I tried usb mouse too but the status was same i.e., cursor freezing, blinking, cu/copy/paste not working

I then switched to Microsoft support. Technical person took control of my PC for whole day. Tried random of things like updating graphics driver, running disk cleanup, deleting temporary files, etc. Finally in the end she suggested to reinstall clean windows dowloaded from MS site. I positively did that too. BUT THAT TOO DIDN'T WORKED.

NEED HELP BADLY. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

Anyway,Today, when i pressed power button, nothing happened. Yesterday I shut it down on windows, but today, nothing.I've tried it with Ac and without ac adaptor. Nova( or novo, anyway) button didn't work either. I've tried that 30 sec pressing power button, nothing changed. My front led buttons are always off. It's literally dead. I know it always was dead but you got the pointI think mainboard is the problem. I need to solve it immediately because my final exams notes in it. I can't access it and I don't want to break warranty, so that i can't reset battery connection. If only that battery could on laptop, not inside! A:z510 is dead. No power. Need help!

Obviously you can't recover data from a dead laptop.  You would need to remove the hard drive to do that, but then warranty issues arise.  In reviewing the User Guide for your model it is pretty limited on what the Owner can do unlike other laptops.  The only option I see to resolve your problem is to send the laptop in for warranty service.  When sent in I would point out to support that you need the data on the drive both verbally and in writing.

I have had a horrible experience with Lenovo customer support, and am looking for advice. My Lenovo Z510 started crashing only while plugged in, and of course this happened shortly after the warranty expired. Because it was out of warranty, I didn't bother calling Lenovo. I tried everything I could think of, replaced the fan, replaced the A/C adapter, replaced the heat sink and reapplied new thermal paste. I updated all of my drivers, and the system BIOS. I even took my computer into a repair place, and they couldn't determine what the issue was but offered to slowly start replacing things until the issue was fixed. This seemed expensive and a big risk, so I didn't pursue this. But the problem persists. I recently found on a Lenovo forum that this had happened to multiple people, and the problem was a bad motherboard. Because of this, I decided to call Lenovo customer support. The person I originally spoke with confirmed that he had also found several forums that showed Z510s had a faulty motherboard, and said because of this it was likely that despite being out of warranty they would still be able to fix my computer. He escalated my case, and several days later I got an email from Lenovo simply stating my computer was out of warranty. I emailed them back asking if they would be willing to fix it because of the known issue, and never heard back. A month later I called Lenovo, asking why I had never heard back, and they gave me a cookie cutter response that I needed ... Read more

Hey there & thanks for reading this...Today I was repairing a mouse (as I always do) which had the problem of some short circuits... I was testing it using my Lenovo Z510 usb port. It was on sleep mode. I put the port in and suddenly I saw my laptop's off. I tried to turn it on but no clue! Not even one LED is turning on on the device... I tried the power supply but the same story! not even battery power LED turned on... I tried the 4-5 mins power hold trick but nothing happened...Any clues how to solve this problem?*BTW, I surfed the net for this issue, people with other laptops took out the battery, hold the power button for a minute, get the battery back & BOOM! The laptop turned on! but the thing is that we can't actually remove battery from this device... So, if this is the only way to solve the problem, Is there a way to use up the whole power saved on battery until we could reset the Cmos???***Thanks...

Hello and welcome,

Did you check the USB socket for damage - bent contacts?  Could be a shorted +5V pin.

I have problem with my Z510 and not me only, has been randomly shutting down when plugged in AC adapter, but doesn't have this issue when running on battery. If you run any complex program or a game that will turn off immediately, or may be turned off even when booting Windows. My laptop have 2 years, exactly the same problem the second time already, for the first time helped firmware bios on programator but now is not helped. At the forum a lot of topics on this issue and no decision or response from Lenovo.CPU: i3-4000mGPU: GT-740m

Hello,

I noticed that many people have found solutions to their problems in these forums. I hope I get mine fixed too.

Well I bought a new laptop Lenovo Z510 with 16GB of RAM already and it seems that I am dealing with tons of problems. I got it back to warranty they changed the RAM and the situation seems to have improved significantly.

But even with that I still have faced several BSODs and a lot of problems in the event viewer plus to random crashes for some some apps like firefox.

I attached the files hoping that we get this one sorted.
Thank you very very much.
