Q: I'm having issues upgrading from Windows10 Home to Windows10...

I upgraded my Dell desktop without issue, but i get the Windows error message 0X0 when attempting the upgrade on my HP laptop. I spoke with HP support and they acknowledge that this is a known HP issue but unfortunately my warranty expired 24 days ago. They suggested I try the chat room

Preferred Solution: I'm having issues upgrading from Windows10 Home to Windows10...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

missxx I checked the HP Win10 compatibility page and your model PC has NOT been tested by HP for compatibility with Win10 -- that's one strike. I also check the HP product page for your PC, and it doesn't list Win10 drivers, only Win8.1. That's two strikes. The GOOD news is that, in general, Win8.1 PCs have less problems with the Win10 Upgrade than older machines. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops -- and unfortunately, there are no HP Win10 drivers for your laptop. However, for MS-supplied drivers that aren't working well, you could consider using HP Win8 drivers -- although there's no guarantee that those drivers will work.  Here's the link to the HP Product drivers and software page for Win8 for your PC:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-b100-Ultrabook/5338107/model/5381629If that page does not show Win8x when you open it, then click CHANGE and select Windows 8x using the pulldown. You might have to install the drivers using compatibility mode: http://www.windows10forums.com/articles/compatibility-mode.7/ However, since the Win10 Rollback Utility is unreliable, if the Upgrade goes badly, you're most likely NOT going to be able to restore a working system.  So... I recently upgraded my desk top to Windows 10 and had few problems except that my CD rom doesn't work. In the device manager I get the message that the digital signature on the certificate cannot be verified Code 52. I had no problems whilst using Windows 7 for 8 years but as soon as I upgraded to 10 I am told that I could damage my computer if the digital certificate was used. Is there any way to correct the error.
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

What's the brand name and model name and model number and serial number of your desktop?
I'm guessing it previously had Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit.
How exactly did you install Windows 10 Home 64-bit in it?
Did you do a "clean" install or an "upgrade" install?

Hi, I have just purchased a HP 450 G3 Notebook. It came with Windows 7 and a Windows 10 64 bit installation DVD. In the (very brief) installation instructions it said: "to take full advantage of windows 10 features, you must enable UEFI Native Boot mode in the BIOS settings before installing Windows 10" Since I could not find the exact setting in the BIOS and there were no instructions, I did not dare to change BIOS settings. I continued to install Windows10 without UEFI activated. I now have some questions: 1) What Windows features (besides a quicker boot time) do I miss? 2) Would you recommend using UEFI instead of BIOS? If yes: 3) How do I enable native UEFI Boot mode in the BIOS: I need an exact instruction (wich BIOS menu options should I change?) since I am not exactly aware of what I'm doing... 4) Suppose I found the right setting in BIOS, do I need to reinstall Windows 10 from the DVD afterward? Thanks in advance for your help,Jaap

I upgraded to Windows 10 the other week at first the SD cards were readable, always asking if I wanted a special action to be applied. Then suddenly none of the cards are recognized in the built in slot. However the same cards work fine in all other systems and also in an external SD card reader if plugged in to the USB.Also if I right click and eject it says the card can be safely removed, howver windows says this on all empty slots. Windows says the driver is the latest but... in the event log is the following message concerning this device.Device USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Generic-&Prod_SD/MMC&Rev_1.00\8&337fe49d&0&20060413092100000&2 could not be migrated.Last Device Instance Id: USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_GENERIC&PROD_MASS-STORAGE&REV_1.11\7&186B294F&0Class Guid: {4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}Location Path:Migration Rank: 0xF000FC001001F120Present: falseStatus: 0xC0000719 How do I fix this problem on my Acer Aspire M3985 I suspect it has something to do with the Autoplay features, but I have both turned this on/off and also set to do nothing. Yet the card slot appears empty.

I've exhausted the forums focusing on Windows10 and on the AMD chipset, so I'm turning to you guys as a last resort.  I've installed and uninstalled Windows10 back to Windows8.1 trying every setting in all these components.  In Windows10, the text throughout all programs is 'scratchy' and of poor resolution, and graphics/photos are a bit cartoon-like.  The icons of the desktop, however, are perfectly rendered.  There is no problem with 8.1.  I tried updating the AMD driver to W10/64-bit with no effect.

I have a dell laptop with windows 7 Ultimate installed on it (Came preinstalled with laptop). Have been using since last 2 years.
2 days back I decided to upgrade to windows 10 (hey, free stuff ).
I selected Upgrade now option (Not iso/USB), it downloaded, did few things and started installing. While it was configuring (Big blue circle that comes) it failed at 5%. Mostly reason was C drive space was very less (8Gb free).
So it rolled back to windows 7. SO I decide to clear up some things, so uninstalled some stuff . got around 21GB in my C Drive now.
Restarted my machine and tried to install windows 10. But this time it somehow asked for Product Key (There is no SKIP option)
I went to system properties, to my surprise now it was showing 2 days till activation. I clicked on activate now and put my windows 7 ultimate key, but it did not accept.
Just did Genuine check on my windows , it said my copy of Windows is Genuine. But still it messed up with windows 7 license somehow. I am not getting call Support desk option anywhere, as some forums mention. Please help me.
Now I am stuck as I cannot upgrade. What are my options?

A:Windows 7 showing 2 days for activation while upgrading to windows10

Hello rohit404404 Welcome to the Seven Forums!

I think you may want to stop by SF's sister site for some information and help regarding the upgrade while I can point you to one guide there that could be a large help for you in getting this problem cleared up. Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First

The guide there may just be able to bail you out of this one while you could still try either to enter the product key found on the sticker attached usually on the bottom of a laptop unless too new where it is embedded into the firmware where you then will need a product key tool to recover and enter it in with. That's found in any guide but from an independent source. ShowKeyPlus

If you are able to get 7 to activate itself again automatically or do have to call into MS to explain what happened and get 7 activated with help you can then save a lot of time and effort following the steps in the guide there seeing a clean install rather then sloppy often buggy upgrade type install! And the one thing most never realize is that they should have made a full system image backup before trying anything like this just in case.

Hi, all
After being hours of searching for help or advice I am ending up here with hope of solution.
I was running genuine windows8.1 last night I was asked if I can reserve and install windows 10 .. I did that and reserved + installed windows 10 in my HP Pavillon laptop. When it finished installing I used the laptop and all went so smooth and fine.
This evening I had turned on my laptop dell logo appeared after that a light amber background appeared and a rotating circle of small dots in the middle. I thought its just an activation and will take like 10 minutes but it stuck there for almost 1.5hours and nothing happened. Turned off and restarted several times = no solution and laptop wont go the page where I could log in.
Your help and support will be highly appreciated.

I have a no-name 2-in-1 tablet, x64 architecture, running OEM Windows 10 32-bit, version 1607, and as far as I have been able to ascertain, the tablet is up to 64-bit specs.. I have downloaded the ISO file for Windows 10 64-bit, version 1607, and I want to upgrade the OS. Speccy has given me the Product ID; if I install the 64-bit OS over the existing 32-bit OS, will the new version of Windows accept the existing Product ID, or will I have to purchase a new ID?

A:Upgrading 32bit Windows 10 to 64bit Windows10 on a tablet

The same product key will work for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 10. If you have one of the 2 GB RAM, 32 GB "hard drive" (eMMC) tablets you will probably see a decrease in performance with the 64-bit Windows 10 because the increased resources needed for 64-bit on an already resource limited computer will outweigh the performance benefits. Also, are there 64 bit drivers available for the hardware? A lot of the no-name tablets out there have manufacturer specific hardware drivers and even registry entries - so make sure you back up the drivers on the existing tablet before you do a clean install or you might find yourself having to scour third party internet sites for them - and they likely won't work with 64-bit Windows 10 anyway.

My laptop, an XPS 17 L702X, was force updated to Windows10 because Microsoft thinks it knows better than the person who owns the machine and sits infront of it all day.
Worse still, this unrequested upgrade occured during a period of Windows7 instability which is why i didn't want any upgrade to Windows10 until well after the issue was sorted.
The system HDD was bitlocker encrypted, via using a USB thumb drive to unlock at boot time, from the day this laptop was purchased. This made the problems i had even more complex to resolve.
What seemed to occur, was a merging of "os instability" combined with a "Windows10 upgrade" combined with "Windows 10 update" which borked the machine. The end result was that i was locked out of my laptop and looking at a Orange Screen Of Death with no options to move forward.
After much web searching, i gave up. I managed to decrypt the HDD on another system but in the process i found many bad clusters on the HDD by performing a chckdsk (which mapped these bad clusters for non use). I must say i don't really trust the HDD any more.
When reinstalling the decrypted HDD into the laptop, i could get past the OSOD issues, however the system was unusable as the screen would flash uncontrollably once logged into the user account. More web surfing did not yeild helpful information. Since the laptop was not usable in this state, i was at the end of the rope so to speak.
Time for a clean reinstall on a second HDD.... Read more

Possibly related to the flashing screen is the disappearance of the free games app; 'microsoft solitaire' that was included during my recent upgrade to 10. I could use some help in re loading this app to see if that solves the flashing issue.

If your computer(no description given) originally came with Windows 8, it would've had to be upgraded to Windows 8.1 first before if could be upgraded to Windows 10.

If it's been more than 30 days since you upgraded it to Windows 10, you no longer have the option to revert it back to Windows 8.1.

1. Upgrade to Windows 10 is possible [You don't require license key] 2. We do not have required drivers as of now for Windows 10 in the HP Support Site 3. You might face compatibility issues when it comes peripherals used with the Unit 4. You may have to download required drivers from the manufacturer's website for each hardware component If you dont like Windows 10 after the upgrade and if you want to switch back to Windows 7, you have to do a clean install using Recovery Media Disks or USB Recovery Media Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,K N R K

You may also get some help with this from the Windows 10 forums also (see link below).

C1900101-20017
for this reason the installation failed
I did read on internet about the error code but looks like if there is no solution...............why Microsoft keeps bothering nee about thi bloody upgrade instead of getting a fix about this problem because looks like if many are having this problem

If you can help fine or this time i will really forget about this upgrade

Thanks

Hi,No recommended size for HP recovery partition and no way for you to download it.Your only option to get HP Recovery partition back is to do factory reset by using HP recovery media.Since you've not created HP recovery USB after first setup of this notebook, that came with Windows 8.1 64 bit - you're only option is to order HP Recovery USB from HP in your region.http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/bph07143Specs: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04722833You cannot do successful activation of clean install of Windows 10 now with Microsoft provided ISO (possibly via Microsoft windows media creation tool) if you've not successfully upgraded and ACTIVATED Windows 10 Home 64 bit previously. So, you can only clean install Windows 8.1 64 bit using Microsoft windows media creation tool by creating bootable installation USB.:Option 1: https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.htmlAdditional drivers from here:http://support.hp.com/ie-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-13-x360-Convertible-PC-series/7771386/mo...RegardsVisruth

Yesterday windows10 was installed in my win8.1 laptop thru the MS updates. All went fine and is working well but I dislike very much the start menu and so I installed the Classic Shell alternative.

However I can't find the executable for the new MS updates which I like to make a shortcut in my new menu

Any idea where the new updates program is located?
