Inspiron 15 7000 not recognizing Dell U2412M Monitor

Q: Inspiron 15 7000 not recognizing Dell U2412M Monitor

I have connected an HDMI cable to the new Dell laptop which runs windows 10
I have inserted an DVI to HDMI adapter into the monitor and plugged in the HDMI cable.
(I want to extend my workspace on my laptop onto the monitor).
I've tested the set up of the cable and adapter using another laptop running Windows 7 and it all works fine.
However, my new Dell laptop does not seem to recognize the Dell monitor.
Please can you advise solution/s?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I purchased the Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop 1-1/2 weeks ago at Best Buy. The salesperson had me buy a VGA to USB adapter and suggested I plug it directly into the USB port and not through the USB hub I also bought. However, I cannot get the monitor to work. The computer is running Windows 10. The display shows 3 monitors (I also have a monitor on the HDMI port) but the settings for the Dell are greyed out. On other computers, shutting the laptop cover allowed the use of two external monitors, but I haven't been able to get this to work. Even unplugging the HDMI monitor doesn't allow the Dell monitor to display. Does this monitor work on the newer laptops? If so, what else can I try? And am I limited to two monitors on Win10 with this computer?

I am in the process of upgrading my household desktop from a Dell Dimension 4450 (Pentium 4) running Windows XP Home (SP3) to a Dell XPS 8700 (Intel 4Core i7-4770) under Windows 8 (x64).
During the course of using Revo Uninstaller to install / reinstall additional software I had an "oops" moment, and accidently removed an application one line below the intended target.
The software removed was "softOSD.exe". Research  on the web indicates that it is supplied to Dell by a Taiwanese company EnTech, and that its function is to help manage the monitor -- in my case a Dell U2412M. This research also revealed that in the past softOSD has been suspected of causing problems with displays, and there are several articles out there offering ways of removing it (or viruses that have "borrowed" the name).
My problem is slightly different -- I have not been able to find any site from where I could download a replacement version, assuming I that should want to. Can anyone offer any insight as to whether I should be worried about the lack of this item (no obvious effects so far) and try to replace it? If replacement is the way to go, where can I find a download site?

I have an inspiron 5755 with an AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics. I am trying to connect my laptop to my external Dell U2211H monitor.
I was a support technician for moer than 8 years, so here's what I've done so far, along with general issue information.
I was able to get the external monitor to work with the laptop for all of a day with a DVI to HDMI adapter. However it took some wiggling to get it to work and when it stopped working I purchased a Display Port to HDMI adapter in case the DVI port was the issue, which still isn't working.
I have tested both adapters, and they both work fine. and I have tested the external monitor, which works fine.
The monitor recognizes that it is plugged into something, but it says it is not receiving a signal from the laptop.
I know the monitor is good, both adapters are good and the HDMI cable is good.
I've updated every driver I could find for the laptops current configuration (only thing Ive changed is more memory and an SSD Hard Drive, but it was working with both those in) and specifically for the R5 and this specific external monitor. I've also updated the BIOS to the latest "A15" version.
Id really like this up and running again, so I'm open to ideas!

Its not something as simple as 'detect display' as no display is detected and the display settings show only one monitor.

HELP! I am trying to connect my Dell U2412M 24" monitor to my Lenovo 720 Yoga Laptop.  I need to see a large screen for a spreadsheet for a project that is due immediatelly. I last used this monitor with my prior coputer, with a simple HDMI cable.  No such port on my 720, as far as I can see... 1.  Is there a hidden HDMI port on the 720- Yoga? 2.  If not, Can I use the regular, "box" USB port?  I do NOT need audio, just video. 3.  What specific cable will work?  Cheap is best, this monitor is not touch screen and was in a vehicle file and may not even work well.  It does turn on though... 4.  MUST I use the USB-C port on the Lenovo 720?  I strongly prefer not to, as it is occupied already, and I don't want to buy an expensive double port gizmo.  I just need to hook up this monitor, and quickly, for video. 5.  If I MUST use the USB-C port on the 720, same question as above, what is the CHEAPEST cable or gizmo that I need?  Where to get (Amazon, Best Buy, Micro Center, etc.).  A link to a specific product would be greatly appreciated. I am VERY frustrated!  I tried to contact Micro Center, Dell, Lenovo and Best Buy by chat, phone, etc.  No luck with any of those!  So, please help! Thank you!

Is there anyway i could upgrade Dell Inspiron 15 7000  to Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Gaming for extra bit of money?? i am looking to get better performance on gaming?

A:UPGRADE Dell Inspiron 15 7000 to Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Gaming??

You'd need to sell the system and buy the new one.  The "extra bit" of money will likely be more than a bit, as used computers will sell for 30-50% of what they did new -- warranty or not.

The internet connectivity works only wirelessly.  The direct connectivity (connecting the laptor with Cisco Router using a chord) works for sometime and goes off, and WiFi takes over.
Sounds like Dell has solution to this problem.  They tried all usual commonsense ideas and also changed the motherboard, but finally gave up or left it to fate.  There is no problem with Cisco EA3500 dual band router as I have other gadgets connected.  Tried with another another laptop (also Dell), changed chord, tried different slots in the router.
Dell 15 laptop is still covered under warranty.
Can't Dell fix this problem?
Anyone has experienced this problem and still living with it without Dell taking initiatives to resolve?

Hello Shankar,

Please share the exact model number for the laptop. There is an option to disable the wifi when an an ethernet cord is connected to the system. Ideally this option would be there in the BIOS setup. I can get our database if you can share the exact model number.

I purchased my computer and all my software with Dell. I purchased an Inspiron 7000, 17" Laptop, with premium support, accidental Damage, max warranty,  Microsoft Office Suit, and Adobe Photoshop  with Elements 13.  The first "version" of my computer was working 100% perfect with no problems. It got accidentally knocked off the table and the prong inside the computer got bent. The power cord couldn't properly charge the computer anymore. I called Dell to have them fix ONLY the power cord and prong, nothing else was wrong with my computer. I got a phone call from Dell about a week after I turned my computer in. They said the repair is taking longer than the expected. I asked why, they said because they are waiting to located at another facility a part for my harddrive.  I was shocked when they said anything about my harddrive nothing was wrong with it and I did not turn my computer in to have the harddrive fixed. They brushed it off never gave me any reason why they were even touching my harddrive!!  After several phone calls/ time / and headache later they offered to send me a refurbished computer 2 months later. That was the best they could do because they could not locate the part they needed for my harddrive.
(Keep in mind my computer "type" is still active on Dells website and is Dells #1 best selling computer, How do they not have the part??!!!
I received my refurbished computer. It was another nightmare calling... Read more

Can I downgrade my OS to windows 7?

I'm currently in Windows 10 and my drive D is missing, I already restore my Laptop but still missing re scan the disc nothing also happens. Windows 10 is a mess.

A:Dell Inspiron 14 7000

What is your D drive?  A flash drive or external hard drive?
Downgrading to WIndows 7 may or may not be possible - - if the system is new and has a 7th generation CPU, it's not an option -- these support only Windows 10 -- and downgrading the OS isn't likely to solve the problem of your missing drive (you may create a big mess that is even worse than having a failed or unsupported drive).

My computer is exactly one month old.  I have move it to tablet mode 5 times.  The sixth time the left hinge literally snapped and disconnected from the computer.
I have always been a Dell customer, but I will not purchase from them again.  I see many people have had this issue.
It is not because of wear and tear. It is because this model has a defective hinge and dell should honor replacements.  I am so disappointed in the craftsmanship of this computer.  Dell used to be number 1... not any more in my book.
Now I have to deal with sending it somewhere to get the hinge repaired and be without a computer for 2 weeks.  Thanks Dell for standing by your products.  NOT
I will never recommend a Dell purchase to any person I know.

A:Serious problem with dell inspiron 7000

Unless a system is sold in the transfer-to market, it's not supported there.  You knew that - or you wouldn't have stated what you did.
Returns to Dell USA are available for the 30 days following shipment.  Since you'll be paying for international shipping plus a restock fee, it won't be inexpensive even if you can return it (i.e., 30 days haven't passed).
The alternative is to buy a keyboard yourself -- and hope no expensive warranty issues arise.  If they do -- or you want a warranty replacement of the keyboard - you will need to return the system to Dell in the USA for service.

I am not very familiar with computers so bear with me.

I bought a used Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop that is not supposed to be working. The person I bought it from stated that it's supposed to have Windows 98, a 6.4 GB hard drive, and 192 MB of memory, and the description was that when turned on, the screen shows the Windows 98 startup logo, then does not go any further from there.

Upon receiving the laptop, however, when I turn it on it only displays the Dell logo at first, then goes into this set up where it is a black screen with the following information:

PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0

*From here on it just stays on that screen. Nothing happens even if I press F2. What could be the problem and any ideas how to fix this?

A:Dell Inspiron 7000 not booting up

Here's an update.

I've been playing around on this laptop and when I ejected the DVD drive (I inserted a Dell Recovery CD for a Latitude CPi), it proceeded to add the following lines to the screen mentioned above:

0210: Stuck Key 23

Then it proceeded to display the Windows 98 logo (as described by the person I bought it from), accompanied by a fast, non-stop beeping sound. after about 5 minutes of this, it started displaying a black screen again with stuff that's too fast for me to read, then it's asking for me to select an option as to what mode I want it to start on. "Safe mode" is highlighted but the keyboard does not seem to be responding, and I could not go any further. Any thoughts?

I need to replace my inspiron 7000 keyboard, I need help. Does anyone have directions on how to do this, I have the keyboard.

A:dell inspiron 7000 keyboard

Keyboard removal procedure.

1. Turn the computer over and remove the four screws from the bottom of the computer.

2. Turn the computer back over and open the display.

3. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver along the right top of the keyboard, just above the row of function keys. Working from right to left, free the keyboard by prying it toward the front of the unit. When free, lift the top of the keyboard slightly to clear the palmrest assembly.

4. Slide the keyboard towards the display assembly to release the front edge of the keyboard from the palmrest assembly.

5. Rotate the bottom of the keyboard up toward the display assembly to expose the keyboard cable.

6. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the ZIF connector on the system board. Gently pry up the latches on each side of the connector.

That should do it. Becarefull not to bump the keys tops on the replacement keyboard as they usually are a pain to get back on.

Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 15 7000(7559) http://www.dell.com/ca/p/inspiron-15-7559-laptop/pd?oc=ni157559_ft_h5715e&model_id=inspiron-15-7559-laptop and would like to connect it to my 4K TV at 60HZ refresh rate. I already have it successfully connected to my 4K TV(which supports 60HZ refresh rate) but it is only displaying at 30HZ fresh rate via HDMI slot provided on the laptop. I'm using a HDMI 2.0 cable which supports 60HZ refresh rate however the HDMI slot which is built into the laptop is HMDI 1.4A slot supporting up to 30HZ only (I concluded this from general research on the internet).
There are no display port slots built into the laptop but there is USB 3.0. So basically, is there anyway to get the output to be 60HZ with the pre-existing slots on the laptop like using USB 3.0, display port or the Dell docking station. I am not opposed to using an display adapter either like the Dell Docking Station – USB 3.0 (D3100) which has a display port slot built into it but it only supports 30HZ not the desired 60HZ.
We also can see from the official intel link below that the intel process in the laptop does support 4K resolution at 60 HZ via display port so its just a matter of achieving it. http://ark.intel.com/products/88959/Intel-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz

experience to get the 60HZ refresh rate on a 4K TV with the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 or a similar Dell model like the Alienware laptops.

It could be a BIOS/CMOS problem. You may need a BIOS update before installing XP and you may want to try resetting your BIOS settings to the defaults. XP with ACPI take control of the hardware so having an updated BIOS is important.

Just purchased 2 in 1 Inspiron i7 7000 which has a 1tb hard drive and and 120gb SSD.  After set up it seems to have installed Windows on the 1tb hard drive which is designated as C: and the SSD data designated as D: drive is empty.
I tried to speak to Dell - long distance hard to hear conversation - and they seemed to say this was right. And that there was only one hybrid drive with partitions?
Other literature suggests there are in fact two separate drives. And that Windows should be on the SSD.
Is that right?  And if so how do I fix it? There is nothing else of importance on computer so drives can be wiped etc.

I own a Dell Inspiron 7000 PII processor. There is something clearly wrong with the motherboard and I need to replace it. Since I just got a new computer I'm interested in doing this my self. However, I have never done this type of work on a computer. Is there any place I can go to get a manual to repairing/replacing the motherboard? Is there any soddering involved for this type of laptop (it seems like most parts are snapped/clipped or scewed in)? any info/insight would be helpful.

I have owned my Dell Inspiron for almost a year. About 4 months ago, I woke up and noticed a crack across my screen. At first I thought that it might have been some of my housemates that accidentally stepped on it. However, as I was thinking about it recently, that scenario seems highly unlikely as I kept my laptop closed and close to my bed when I wasn't using it. I was careful with it and didn't damage it in any way I can think of. I've owned several other laptops and never had a problem with cracked screens before. I've only now gotten around to calling Dell and asking for my laptop to be repaired to which they've said that it is not covered under warranty and that I have to pay over AUD600 for a new screen and additional AUD130,140 for it to be installed! That is ridiculously overpriced! Not to mention, that as I've been reading some of the forum posts on this page, it seems that the cracked screen is a designer flaw and not my carelessness.
Has this happened to some of you as well? What should I do?

Recently my dell inspiron 7537 is having problems opening properly. I am not sure if it is the way I carry it in my back back (college student) but I always use a case with it and make sure to be gentle setting my backpack down, etc. I have had this computer since 2014 and never had any problems, I love it!. But recently when I try to open the laptop for use the right side makes a popping noise at the crease and the bottom right of the screen (not the touch screen portion but where it is black at the corner) is popping off. I can see the lights behind it. I am able to press on the screen to get it to pop back in place but even when it is in place and I test it by opening and closing it the same popping noise happens and the portion of the screen is raised again.
Is this a problem I live with now? Any solutions? I bought my computer at costco but I can't remember if I had a warranty or if it even lasted this long. Any suggestions?
Also the actual computer functions just fine, no problems booting up or anything.

Rather unfortunate you had to face issues on a new machine.
What is the exact blue screen error message / code? Does the system restart after the bluescreen crash or does it power off? Are you able to boot to f2 or f12 on startup?
Press and hold the fn key + power button to turn on the system and it should initiate the diagnostics - check for any possible beep codes.

I am not happy with this product. I have submitted a second trouble ticket today. The first was for a hard drive issue and the second is probably a motherboard as the customer support alluded to. Less than 6 months and now twice I am going to be without my laptop for an extended period of time. The first time was a for a week. For the second issue, I will have to send my laptop into the service center and even though they said they would expedite it, it will probably take at least two weeks for just shipping back and forth.
I was thinking of getting something similar for my daughter, but after my experience with how inconsistent the laptop has been and how fixing the current laptop I have will take awhile, I can't see buying another Dell laptop. I was thinking of starting on my Master's next year, but obviously I may have to think about purchasing a second laptop to ensure that I have a trustworthy device to use for my school work.

My Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop will just die on me, even if I am actively engaged in a program or even while I am typing in a text-based program. Occasionally, after such a shut-down, the computer will not re-start until numerous attempts are made.

I have called tech service numerous times and even sent the unit in twice - to no avail. The last time, Dell updated my BIOS, but the problem persists.

I finally got my new inspiron 13 7000 last Friday, and it has been a very bumpy experience thus far.
Please advise if this machine must be returned of you believe it is still trustworthy.
1. When i started the machine for the first time, it hung showing me a blue screen with a Welcome at the top left.
>>> I then called up prosupport, and ran a BIOS test, restarted the machine, and the regular set up continued (the blue screen with the Welcome at the top left was the first screen of setup, which then did not show anything other than just the blue screen)
2. RIGHT AFTER THAT..... i open up EDGE, on the address bar I type in youtube.com (just like that). Hit enter, and *** off percent = 100. Check the pic below. (in case it does not show up, it was a VIRUS alert, with a voice in the background reading through the complete text displayed on screen.)
There was no way to close it, and had to reboot the laptop.
After start, i tried it again, and got the same experience.
Again a reboot
The third time, i called up prosupport asking "why did i get a busted machine". So they downloaded "malwarebytes" (wish they had that in the catalog instead of mcafee) scanned the machine and did not find anything. So claimed the machine is all good.
At this point, I cannot trust this machine cos you never want your privacy or secure stuff to be available to any F* hack like this.

A:Dell inspiron 13 7000 - VIRUS ALERT - right out of the box

It may not help your decision but on one new system I received, I got a Blue Screen which was caused by the Product Registration process.  It worked itself out.
Yesterday, I went to a web site, don't remember which one, and got a window saying about the same thing.  I could not close the window and proceed even though the window showed that option.  I decided to close a video add on the site and the message disappeared and I was allowed access to the site...  It did not look like an official notice so not really sure what was happening.
I would continue to use the unit for a few days and let it go through some of the updates it might be trying to install.  Giving it time to do this may help later.
If I understand correctly, the return for replacement option time frame is less than the 30 day warranty.

Thanks for writing to us.
When did the issue start? Have you made any hardware or software changes?
Please try an external monitor if available.
Almost all the parts in this model are quite complicated to remove including the battery.
The noise can be from fan or the hard drive.
Is it possible to record the buzzing noise and send to us. ? /
Should your system be under warranty we can get it repaired.

Hi. I need help diagnosing this unit. I have worked with pc's before but never laptops. I have a dell inspiron 7000 that someone gave my husband because it has this problem. We have been able to use it and the problem had been very intermittant, but now it is becoming quite frequent. The screen will just go black, or sometimes just very dim/dark. Sometimes pusihing the switch that turns the screen off when you close the notebook would make it come back, sometimes not. Sometimes he was able to kind of flex the plastic at the middle of the back of the screen and it would pop off and on as he flexed it. It almost seems like a intermittant connection.

I have not opened it up yet myself, but hubby did 1x and it seemed to work fine for a while after but then the problem came back (he didn't find anything noteable).

If I hook up a external monitor the monitor works all the time even when the screen is out.

How do I tell if the problem is the screen itself (and where do I find a reasonably priced replacement?) or if maybe it's just a bad connection somewhere that I may be able to fix. When he was flexing the case I thought maybe there might just be a bad ground or something causing this problem. Anyhow, any ideas would be welcomed, I appreciate your time in reading this and hope you all have some ideas for me. Thank you.

A:Dell Inspiron 7000 notebook screen bad?

Couple of reasons for this

1/ The ribbon cable to the board is only a friction fit so it is not pushed in correctly.

Solution find the ribbon cable from the monitor and re-seat it.

the other problem is a replacement part for the monitor and usually replacing the whole monitor is a better solution.

As the picture is fine on another monitor then it the monitor on the laptop for sure.

I would find that cable to the screen and re-seat it as it is intermitant a bad connection is the problem.

Yesterday I received the new Inspirion 7000 gaming (7567). As it only has 256gb in the m.2 ssd slot I wanted to add an extra SSD in the HDD area. I tried to add a Crucial MX100 which I had in an old computer but it won't find it. (Both in BIOS as in Windows System storage). I already tried changing configuring the disks from RAID to AHCI but this doesn't work.
Are there any known compatibility issues between Dell and some SSD's manufacturers or are there any other solutions?
Thank you in advance!

Ultimate problem: Inspiron 7000 AC adaptor does not charge the battery, and unable to run off just the AC - also have a port replicator, but no different results. Suspected cause: Unintentionally, a foreign DC adaptor plug was inserted into the Dell Inspiron 7000. After that, the system still ran just fine (which I think rules out a motherboard problem). In retrospect, I realize that the system was running on the battery. Once the battery died, the laptop will not power on. When the power switch is activated, I hear the fan come on, and the indicator lights come on, but it just beeps and then shuts down. I followed all the instructions in the Dell Knowledge base - took off all items - drives, memory, etc. Electrical test on adaptor is OK. Dell support just keeps telling me to buy a new adaptor. It sounds like there must be some type of over voltage relay inside the laptop that is switched off. Is there anything I can do, or do I have a new boat anchor?

Hi I have 3 questions I'm trying to find answers for.
1)  I'm trying to figure out if there is a recovery partition on the SSD. I can see in the Windows recovery options there is a factory reset option so I presume there is one but can anyone confirm that for me?
2) If not can I create one on the SSD or HDD? (I'd prefer the HDD because of disk space).
3) Also is it possible to create a set of recovery disks? (I have an external disk drive)?

Hello Dell Community, I am wondering how to fix this audio problem in my laptop speakers. Ive had this laptop for almost about a week now and it is really bothering me. Whenever I play music through my speakers they start to crackle, pop and sound static like. Can someone please help me fix this problem with my audio ? thank you very much in advance.

A:Crackling/Static in Dell Inspiron 15 7000 512 gb ssd model

Hello.Test the audio driver by switching between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, sometimes you have to restart, sometimes not.[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]If you only have the symptoms with one of the drivers, then the other is at fault. If you have the same symptoms with both audio drivers, then it is very probably not a driver issue.
If the driver is not at fault, it might be difficult to pin down the issue. Try running on battery power, and when plugged in, to check for power-related issues. Check for latest BIOS revision. If you cannot resolve the issue quickly, decide whether or not it is a deal breaker. If it is, return the laptop as defective. Check the d... Read more

I updated my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7548 to windows 10 only to be brought into a catastrophic error. Based on my research this may work for other laptops but I can only say I used and tested it on my Dell.

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7548 Windows 10 internal_power_error Fix

The problem is that during the Windows 10 installation, the computer installs the wrong graphics card driver. It installs the AMD Radeon R7 M265 driver instead of the M270.
Here are the steps to fix the issue.
1. As soon as the computer boots up, login, and then hit the Windows Key button and the X,
2. Go to "Device Manager"
3. Scroll to "Display Adapters / AMD Radeon R7 M265 / Driver/ Disable". This will stop the computer from rebooting.
4. To install the correct graphics driver, just hit "Update Driver" and have it "Search Automatically" for it.
You can download the Windows 10 drivers from the link below.
