Internet Explorer giving problems.

Q: Internet Explorer giving problems.

I have Windows Vista + all updates.

IE: giving problems.

It feezes! I can open other tabs, but that particular tab will stay frozen and be unresponsive.
The only way to shut down is forcefully.

I couldn't find any updates for it on Windows.com.

Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer giving problems.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've never posted on a help forum before, so please bear with me.

I have a Dell Studio 1749 laptop, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Windows Explorer is not working. That is, Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer. It seemed like every forum I already checked this confused people. The only way I am able to communicate with you fine folks is to manually run Firefox using the Task Manager interface. Here are the things I have tried, and the things that I am incapable of trying, and why:

1.) I tried booting in safe mode. Windows Explorer still would not work.

2.) I tried booting with only the bare necessities through System Configuration (msconfig) by selecting Diagnostic Startup, but the problem still occurred when I would boot to my desktop.

3.) I tried doing a system restore to 3 days ago, before the problem ever occurred, but it simply didn't seem to take, as some software I installed just last night was still here when it booted. That was a weird one.

4.) I tried rebooting with a chkdsk /r, but I could not get this to work because in order to set that up, you need to be able to run the command prompt with administrative privileges, which I cannot because Windows Explorer is not working. (I feel that maybe there is some secret way to do a chkdsk without needing the command prompt, but I couldn't find instructions anywhere.)

5.) I tried uninstalling the software that I believe to be the culprit, which happens to be Skype. Last night I received some pictu... Read more

Hello... A few things first: I'm 14 years old... I have never taken computer classes - I teach myself everything by using google ... But I have good experience of fixing problems I run into on my computer.... I can follow instructions you give me.

This is a weird issue that needs to get fixed. We have 2 accounts on our computer. We have Internet Explorer and Firefox installed. Internet explorer works perfectly on my account but on my moms account - when she tries to go to any website it says:
Internet Explorer cannot display the web page.

On my account when I open firefox I get this message before it opens:

Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features.

We need help! We do not wish to pay for Tech Support as I am good at fixing stuff that happens to our computer. If you could help me with this issue that would be great! This is my first post here, so I hope that I follow all of the rules. And thanks in advance for any help. My computer has been running slow for a while, and I think one of my kids might have gone to a website that allowed some malware in. My OS is Windows XP SP3. I have noticed a few things, 1. Had a problem with Adobe acrobat reader, it wouldn't update for some reason, and couldn't open PDF files for a while, after uninstalling and reinstalling several times, I think it is now working. Also noticed more recently when working in MS Word 03 every once in a while it won't let me save files. Now I am noticing that when I have Internet Explorer open for a while, IE tries to pop open a new window, to which the IP address is blocked by K9 web protection is the IP. After googling this IP address, I found a few posts leading me to think there might be a trojan kicking around on my pc. I have run MBAM and Hijackthis in an attempt to find the culprit, but MBAM comes up clean, and I can't find it on Hijackthis. Any help woould be appreciated.

This is my first time registering for one of these kinds of forums, so I'm not familiar with protocol. I'll just explain what the problem is.

I noticed last night, when I was trying to transfer photos from my cell phone to my laptop, that every time I tried to copy the pictures and move them, windows explorer would crash. I gave up, and today the problems started to get worse. The audio keeps turning off and on, and windows explorer is still crashing, but now my entire laptop slows down every time I open it. I already ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in safe mode, but halfway through the anti-malware scan my computer just turned off. Also, I installed ProcessExplorer, but I didn't see anything that looks weird, but I'm not very familiar with different processes. I'm not sure what's going on anymore, but I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks!

I got to install Shadow Explorer today only for testing and now I found I've got a 'Z' drive at my computer drive list. When I clicked it to see, it reads that (translation from Portuguese) 'Z:\ might refer to a not available location. It can be at a hard drive in this computer or in a network. Verify if the drive is correctly inserted or if you are connected to the Internet or to a network and try again. If the drive cannot be found, the information contained could be found at somewhere else' and I cannot access it by any other way
I don't know if Z:\ is part of Shadow Explorer or not (it appeared today after it was installed) and I don't know if this is something from the software, or a virus, or someone trying to get into my network or some kind of trick Windows is doing...
Anyone who knows best Shadow Explorer could help me with that

Good morning,
This may be a common error and a probably easy one to solve. But since I am not a computer expert I need your help please.
When I run the Network Diagnostics for Windows XP, it shows:
"Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP.
This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.
Check the firewall settings for the HTTP Port (80); HTTPS Port (443) and FTP Port (21).

I would like to clarify that I have not changed the firewall settings. This problem appeared after a run a deep MSE and showed me that I was infected with bacdoor:win32/cycbot.B.

Apparently MSE cleaned and removed the mentioned virus. The rest of the computer is working just fine but I cannot get it to the internet.

I do know for a fact that I have internet connection, since I have an network and I am writing you from another computer within the network.

Will someone be able to help me????? Please????

Ok I am sorry I posted this in the wrong spot first off. I sent it to the wrong space

So my problem is when I use IE or MSN explorer I can't click and go anywhere Like in Pogo I can get IN pogo but not to individual games or rooms. In MSN groups I can get in most groups but I can't post any reply or new discussion. When I click on a link or a button it just sits there and goes no where.

My word pad is now missing

I can't turn my computer ON after turning it off for even a second without using a hair dryer on the back of it for SEVERAL minutes

I cannot acces system restore. It is just a blank white page
I run Windows XP (Dell Dimensions 4550)

I have done hijack this so many times I can't count. I've done killbox, I've run my ad/spyware scans, I've done registry repair, I've done registy first aid I have done my virus scans too

I tried to uninstall and reinstall my IE and and MSN explorer and I don't think it even UNinstalled. I reinstalled using a disc I got with my computer but it didn't do anything different. Still acted the same. This started about a week and a half ago. I have emptied my prefetch, my temp folders and my cache thingie. No change tho.

Hello. First off I will not be able to access safe mode, as I do not have the password needed for it.

For my problems, when I first notied them, windows explorer had crashed, and I lost teh taskbar, and all Icons, although programs still worked, and could be started via task viewer. Using that to try to restart explorer wouldn't work. I then restarted the comuter, and explorer caused a message box to pop up saying that it had caused errors and neded to be shut down. In addition, whenever I try to run internet explorer, it brings up an error message saying that it will be shut down and asks for an error message to be sent. If you elect to restart it afterwards, it always brings up the same error, although if you ignore this, you can continue like normal. I fiddled around and got explorer.exe to run, but it would crash as soon as you tried to use it, so while I had it up, I used processexploer to track doen its threads, and I found one that was attatched to qanqdo.dll, and it was using most of the processing used by explorer.exe. I used process explorer to kill that thread, and after that, explorer seemed to work, until after a computer restart. After I got it to work, I ran Hijack this, which for some reason wouldn't let me save a log, so I had to write the lines that looked suspicious. Here they are:

O20 - AppInit _DLLs:qanqdo.dll

I also went through and by hand deleted this Facegame file set, and can no longer find it, although it still has an entry in Hijack th... Read more

I am trying to verify the contents of two folders on my network using Windows Explorer.  I will attached a screenshot as soon as they verify my account.
In the left pane, is my original folder selected (\\NAS02-4DD\usbshare1-2\Archive\Metal Building\A & S\Drawings\NSDrawings) and then I right click and hit properties to see the file count and size of the folder.

In the right pane is the copied folder selected (\\NAS02-4DD\Archives\0Arch\Metal Buildings\A & S\Drawings\NSDrawings) doing the same thing.

You can see what the properties are by the two respective NSDrawings Properties windows.  They do not match.  However, if you physically count the files, and even look in the bottom left corner of each window (after I hit CtrlA) you will see there
are indeed 902 files in each folder.  I have re-booted all 3 machines associated with these files, and can not get them to ever read the same when I view the properties of each folder.
This is a HUGE problem when it comes to trying to verify if my files have indeed copied in full from users computers to a new N.A.S. unit.

Is there a solution or other way to verify this information without having to open each folder and view its' contents manually?  I am going to be moving about 8TB of information around, and all of it needs to be verified after moving.

Thank you.

Hi, i have some problem with my IE 7 recently.
When i surf some sites, mostly hotmail. I always get the message "object moved here". So when i click on a page, it will direct me to a page that writes "object moved here" and then i'll need to click on the word "here" before i can access my page.

Recently, i cant seem to see all the images and yes, i can't see all the smilies and icons on the post thread now, which is wierd and i get this message when i'm surfing the net at times:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address

which i find it wierd because my messenger is still able to connect and my brother's computer which uses the same connection is also able to connect but my internet just doesn't seem to be able display the webpage.

hope to hear from you soon.

A:IE 7 giving problems

Hi bearbear,

please try running IE7 without addons to see if the same happens:

- Click Start -> Run -> type:
iexplore -extoff
- Click OK
- Test with a few sites to see it the same problem occurs...please bear in mind that when you run IE with no addons, some website will cease to work as normal if they depend on certain addons. Ignore any new problems, just try to concentrate on the original issue and post back your findings please.

If that doesn't give any results, it may be an idea to temporary disable your firewall for a little bit and run IE in its normal mode. Some firewalls include features which affect how webpages load and are displayed so it could be a configuration problem. Remember to re-enable your firewall when you have finished testing.

Have you previously upgraded from IE6 to version 7? If yes, did these problem used to happen previously?

I recently noticed that the system was trying to do 7 updates every day at closedown, and found that update was giving a return code of 800736b3.

I have run SURT several times, and it doesn't seem to give any results (or should I be looking somewhere else?).

I ran sfc /scannow and extracted the results and they are in sfcdetails.txt (attached). SFC said there were some files it couldn't fix, even though sfcdetails.txt says it has fixed all of them.

CBS.zip is much too big to upload using the paperclip - is there another way?

I tried restoring to an earlier restore point, and unfortunately all the attempted updates have flushed my list of restore points - and the oldest few all give me a return code of x00000022.

Not sure if this is one problem or two...! I am reluctant to do a System Recovery as it sounds pretty drastic - help would be much appreciated!

PS Is any more info required?

It's not critical, but you could get rid of it by uninstalling KB3022345 and/or KB3068708 and hiding the latter when it reappers in your offered updates list.

I am having problems with links in Internet Explorer 6.
Problem 1: I couldn't even use the supplied link to complete my registration. (I am new here) I get an "ERROR ON PAGE" message and when I view the details, it says "CLASS NOT REGISTERED"
Problem 2: The Internet Explorer link on my desktop does not work. I can view the properties, and change all of the internet options, but if I double click the link, a window opens that says "OPEN WITH..." It is looking for a program to use.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

This message is being posted for someone who sent it to me. They are unable to get on the fourm. I am guessing he will read responses on another computer.

Hey, I think this is all php related as I cannot post this. Would you mind posting it in a thread for me or giving me advice on it. Thanks alot. I notice you are a big player here who gives lots of advice. Heres the thread and if you would kindly post in web forum I would be very grateful. Even if you could advise me, that would be great too.

I am having trouble accessing a page after clearing my temp internet files and temporary internet cookies on Sunday. I usually do this every 3 weeks to clear up a bit of room.

Anyways, I am part of a soccer online game at this address: http://www.timtalk.com/fitbacrazy/soccer/index.php

I usually could log in but now I cannot see the log in bit on my computer. What I get is just a picture of a football manager and pretty much no other options on the left hand side of the page. I just get that picture. I am not sure if it's something to do with java or the php bit but if anyone could give me advice I would be helpful.

Visit the page and see what the problem could be for me, not being able to see anything other than the picture, a link below and a clear blue screen on the left hand side with a spinning football logo below it.

Thanks in advance,

Every once in a while, when I'm browsing, a window will pop up telling me that IE has encountered a problem and will have to close. When I try to go back to that website, I get the same problem until I restart.

Eventually, another website will pick up this problem, and the cycle repeats endlessly.

Here's my HijackThis log. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you want to I would recommend that you upgrade to Mozilla Firefox (and yes I said upgrade) It's faster safer and you can customise it to your needs.
Get Firefox here

Let me know how it goes . Have a good one & Merry Christmas.

I recently installed Internet Explorer 7. Since then, I've had the following problems (and have been unable to find answers in this forum or elsewhere on the web):

(1) When I open Napster (and a couple of other programs) on my computer, I get "Internet Explorer Script Error" messages -- every time, and repeatedly during each session. I have already checked the "Disable script debugging" boxes in my Options (both for Explorer and other programs), and have unchecked "Display a notification about every script error." The problem hasn't gone away.

(2) On YouTube and MySpace, I can no longer get videos to play. The pages otherwise load OK, but the videos won't play.

(3) On virtually every site I visit, I get (in the lower left corner of the IE7 browser window) a message saying "Done, but with errors on page." (It's appearing, in fact, right now as I type this messag.) When I click on the message, it usually says "Object expected" on some line of the page.

I have been having a lot of problem with internet explorer on my computer in recent weeks. I can't set a home page because as soon as I do something resets it, and whenever it is open Norton anti-virus goes nuts with stuff being detected. hi bigboomI'd suggest you go to the 'HijackThis Logs and Analysis' forum and look at some of the pinned posts. These will tell you the best way to prepare your system for HJT analysis. In particular go throught the first stages of this post:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/How...king-t1152.html- that may be sufficient to recover your system on its own. If not then, referring to the other pinned posts for details, get the latest version of HijackThis and post a log.

Also, I read that the eBay toolbar contains a bit of spyware. I'd recommend not using that.

Also, check your Add/Remove programs for anything suspicious looking

Can anyone help me? I can't seem to get Internet explorer to work. It keeps saying/displaying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and I cannot do anything about it. I tried calling my ISP but they said that they don't specialize in that and that they cannot help me. Please help me, I'm running Windows Xp, I have AVG Free 9.0. I think the problem was that I had a virus and to get rid of it I had to run Malwarebyte and I wasn't going over what I was deleting and thus, I think I deleted some files that internet explorer needed to run.

Ok, this is getting SUPER annoying. I frequently have 5 or more tabs open at the same time and I close an open new ones often. This never started happening to me until IE8 on Windows 7 (unfortunately I didn't get IE8 on Windows Vista, so I don't know if it happened there, too). I'm using both x86 and x64 versions of IE.

When I close a tab. Internet Explorer pops up with a little error dialog stating that "Internet Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close." No such error has occured and IE doesn't close, but those error windows won't go away until I click "Cancel" or "Close Program" (clicking Close Program doesn't actually close IE, either.) The annoying part is that there hasn't ben an error, all I did was close a perfectly working tab.

It also happens sometimes when I click a link that opens a popup window, IE will give me the same error and then put the popup window's location back at about:blank, and there's no history, so I can't go back to the actual content. Sometimes it takes 5-10 tries to get the window to stay open when I tell it to.

Is anyone else having this problem? It's really frustrating me quite a bit, I have 2 monitors and my IE is in the right one while the error opos up in the left one, so I have to look back and forth every time it opens, it's hurting my neck, making me dizzy, and just driving me crazy!

I posted on here a few days ago with regards to a problem with my xp system which in the main has been resolved by completing a system restore in safe mode.

New problem and you guys/gals could (and I know you will!!) by my saviour.
Within IE, I no longer am able to complete any updates via microsoft updates as when it asks for me to install ACTIVE X, the bar does not appeal nor do I get any security warnings.
When I try to do a download the pop up box which allows you to either run, save as... or cancel will not appear.
The tools option on the top of your IE is not available and the favourites option has disappeared also.
Silly things like on the top of the page you would normally have YOUR CURRENT PAGE DISPLAYED BY SKY (my server) have gone.

Now I downloaded IE 8 just prior to these problems and have a feeling it may have corrupted my IE but my knowledge of computer is minimal, so I may be truly wrong!!!!

I guess I may be somewhat vague, so any extra info will be provided if necessary. PLEASE HELP

Thanks all

Try this, click on the Start button then on Run. In the Run box type cmd click OK. A command window will open. In here type sfc /scannow press Enter key. A progress bar will appear, you may need to insert your Windows CD at this point. When the progress bar disappears reboot your computer. This can fix errors relating to IE, worth a try.

I am currently running IE6 because of a problem I am having with IE7. IE6 loads some of my favorite sites differently than IE6, and I prefer IE7 when it's working properly. The problem I'm now having is when I download IE7, I cannot access my control panel at all. At first I was only unable to access "internet options", but after downloading IE7 yesterday, I was unable to access my control panel at all. I have uninstalled IE7, and my computer automatically reverted back to IE6 (I did not have to download IE6 again).

I have downloaded "Hijack This" and can post a log if needed. I had significant speed problems when I downloaded "Stopzilla", and pop-ups asking me to pay for their services were extremely slow to load and "froze" my computer from doing anything else while it was loading, so I had rather not use "Stopzilla". Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot. The Win Min Error was solved, and the unwanted favorites are gone. Thanks again.
Not because of the advice that was given (the advice worked), but something else is going on now. This new problem appeared on its own.

I have Verizon DSL, but when I try and use Internet Explorer, all sites, except for Yahoo, work. When I try to go on yahoo.com, it says, "Web Page Unavailable While Offline", which doesn't make sense, because I'm posting this right now on the computer. Just to check, when I tried to synchronize any site on the Web, it failed, because apparently I'm not connected. Can someone please explain this problem to me? I'm especially confused, because when I check my Verizon DSL status, it says "Connected". What's the deal? Please get back to me. I need a response ASAP.

I have Windows XP Professional, if that helps.

Recently I have been having problems with my internet explorer. I click on the explorer icon, and it takes ages for it to come up. It seems like the computer is totally inactive for about 10 seconds and then it starts loading. This also happens when clicking "open in new window". I have installed the service pack, but this did not help. I also ran adaware thinking that the problem might be caused by spyware orsomething, but htat didn't help either. Also in internet explorer and windows explorer the scroll wheel on my mouse has also stopped working. It works fine in all other programs.

Well last night put the last nail in the coffin for iexplorer in Windows 10 for me
I was ordering computer parts on Newegg and got 2 items in cart and could not get the 3rd one to display on webpage in iexplorer. It got to the point I could not even open their main webpage. I don't know why iexplorer decided to shut me out of a website but I have had enough for now. Today i still can't browse Newegg site (which I have never had a problem with before). The bugs I have encountered in iexplorer in Windows 10 is just too much for me I do not like the layout of Edge so I will set Firefox as my default browser. I did not try Edge last night to see if it would display the webpages I was having problems with. I did open Firefox and all webpages opened instantly and I was able to complete my order.
Maybe after a few more updates from MS they will iron out the bugs some of us are having.

A:Problems with Internet Explorer

You're not alone on this problem, since windows 10 I prefer IE also as I find Edge crap..why should I have to go to submenus to find the printer..anyway after awhile of using IE it closes and comes up as Interenet explorer encounted a problem and will close.

This may be a hijack problem; but, IE won't bring up any web page. If I click a page from the bookmarks it very briefly shows the page then immediately gives a page stating "this page cannot be found". If I try to click file>open, as soon as I move from file to open the box disappears. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Firefox, Mozzila and Opera work fine. Thank you.
