Q: The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.

We have an Internet Explorer issue with our secure web site, when trying to save a file (excel report), we get the following message:

"Internet Explorer cannot download SaveToFile.aspx from secure.allvoiceusa.com.
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

We are using IE8, and I have tried several suggestions from the internet, such as enabling the "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk" security setting in IE, and deleting the "Index.DAT" from the Documents & Settings.

The odd thing is that this feature worked fine up until about a week ago. Now, anyone using IE gets this error message when trying to save their report. But it still works with Mozilla FireFox.

Anyone know what might be causing this problem?

Preferred Solution: The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The problem just suddenly appeared. I'm running a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Win XP Home, Service Pack 3 installed, 1 gb ram and a 40 gb HDD. Had McAffee Internet Security Suite preinstalled but removed it via REVO Uninstaller and have only Windows firewall enabled and NO anti-virus. I did try downloading with Windows firewall disbaled and still no success. I can navigate to a site like Google Chrome download page but then when I click on the download button, the error message appears. Also can't download Microsoft or Windows updates from either site, although, again, I can get through the "checking" phase. I've run Malwarebytes, A-Squared, and IObit 360 and removed about 13 traces of malware ranging from low risk to high risk, defragged and cleaned the reg, all to no avail. I originally had IE7 installed, read about rolling back to IE6 and doing the typical repair sequences, again to no avail. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. It loaded and installed and shows up as IE8 but still had the same problems. Then did a system restore back to before the IE8 install, rolled back to IE6 again... Read more

my AMD Radeon 8670M definitely here, as it states in the laptop's sticker. But when i go to the site (HP) i didn't find a driver for my AMD. There was only my Intel HD Graphic driver.Pardon Me for My Horrible English.

A:my graphic driver is unavailable in hp site for drivers

Hi: What that means is that HP does not completely support your notebook for W10. There is no W10 graphics driver for the Intel/AMD switchable graphics your notebook has. The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W8.1 AMD graphics driver from your notebook's support page and hope that it works.

Hi there -
First, many thanks for taking this time to consider my issue, which I fear will be nothing new to you.

Essentially, my browser (Firefox 4.0) is being redirected to ad sites. This happens in two ways: either when I click a URL and it successfully opens but within a moment a second Firefox tab is opened at an unwanted ad site; or, following a Google search, when I click a link from the Google results, Firefox is instead immediately redirected to an ad site and the URL I want fails to open.

I have read your Spyware First Steps page (very well explained - thank you :-), and have performed the DDS and GMER scans. I'm including the DDS text below and have attached as a zip file the others (i.e. attach.txt and ark.txt; I hope the zip file contains both files).

I disabled my ZoneAlarm protection before running the GMER - I have just realized I did not disable my AVG protection, so hope the GMER results are still good?

I very much look forward to your input whenever you can.

With my very real thanks to you and the team -
Yours sincerely,

Let's go through the standards first, and see what happens.

On-line Scanners
Scan your pc with 2 of these free online scanners:
Panda ActiveScan
RAV AntiVirus
Housecall. Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean.

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Hi Support Guys

I've run into a good one. It runs XP pro Window Pro, opens to desktop but if I go to a website and try to download URLs I get the popup " the requested lookup key was not found in any activation context". That is followed by the send or don't send notice. If I send and open the link for more information I get a popup saying "the requested lookup key*****".

This is in a Dell Optiplex 520. I have reloaded O/S disk under repair but with no change. I have gone to ADD OR REMOVE to uninstall ie7 and start with ie6 but it doesn't show ie7 in there. I have virus checked with Trend Micro and Malwarebytes and they show no problems.

I'm ready for guestions. Any suggestions might help. Thanks

My friend is using AOL (dial up) for her windows xp home pc, service pack 2, 512mb ram, 80 gb hard drive, p4 2.8, and this error message started happening 2 days ago. For AOL, it does not show the webpages at all, just looks like its loading the page, but stays frozen. When you try using IE 6, it shows this error message:
the requested look up key was not found in any activation content

So i tried the following steps:

1. right click on internet explorer icon on your desktop

2. click on properties

3. then click on advanced

4. then go down to were it says show friendly URL's and tick the box

easy as that

But when i right click on IE icon, properties, I dont see anything that says advance, except a tab, so i click on the tab, but then i look for "show friendly URL's" i didnt see nothing like that, i did see "show friendly http error message" and thats it, can someone help PLEASE!! this person is using IE 6.

Thank you

If you open internet explorer, at the top--click tools, internet options, advanced tab, under browsing, you'll find 'show friendly url's-right below 'show friendly error messages'.

Hi Guys

I don't know what to list this under as the whole computer is affected. I'm running Windows XP Pro.

I get the "the requested lookup key was not found" when I try to install any programs. I get that when I try to open Google, Microsoft entries etc. I ran the system disk on repair and used the Dell program key but now it says to validate. It won't go into validate because it comes up with " the requested lookup key ---". I keep getting Microsoft error popups asking to send or not. I click send and it offers to give me more details. When I click on that I get "the requested ------". I scanned with Trend Micro and Malwarebytes and no problems show. I tried to download Hijack this but I get the popup " the requested-----".

Any Ideas?

So, I bought a new computer in April, and Windows 8 lasted for about 8 weeks before refusing to start. With the help of another thread here, I managed to get into a dos enviornment and copy my data (about 7700 photos). Who knew that I still remembered xcopy!

Anyway that whole sad story is here:

I'd prefer to not have to reformat everything and start from scratch (though now that I've ignored Costo and Dell's advice to write off my pictures and do that at the start it is at least an option I am willing to consider).

So I've been playing with bootrec to try and fix my

ERROR CODE: 0xc0000034

Problems. Not that I know a anything about this process. So what I did was:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd

And get a response:

"Successfully scanned windows installations.
Total identified Windows installations: 1
Add installation to boot list? Yes<Y>/No<N>/All<A>:

No matter which choice I make I get:

The requested system device cannot be found.

Am I missing some sort of parameter?

A:bootrec -- The requested system device cannot be found.

Time to bite the bullet, and do a reinstall. Yes I know that can be just a wee bit annoying, albeit sometimes that is the only way to get things working properly again. . . Good luck either way you go.

A:the requested look up key was not found in any active activation context

This is a common problem after a repair install for XP.You need to uninstall Internet explorer 7 and if installed IE8 too. Start with IE8 if installed, then uninstall IE7. This gives the method for IE7 you can adapt it to IE8 also.I would suggest to remove your IE7 completely with using following command on the START -> RUN%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exeThis will uninstall IE7 and makes it so that you can reinstall it later. And this works for my PC with the same issue.Hope this helps The trick with IE8 is also the same find the spuninst\spuninst.exe in the /windows/ie8 directory and do it first. Once theyh are uninstalled IE6 should run and you can proceed from there.I have had to do this in the past and getting back to IE6 was the cure.Good LuckRoger

Probably better places which I could post this, but you guys on here will probably help me best.

This has been happening for a few weeks now where whenever I or anybody else tries to view my facebook profile, the message '
The page you requested was not found

You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address. Some web addresses are case sensitive.' comes up.

As well as this, facebook chat does not work from time to time and simply shows a triangle ! sign instead. I've tried to look everywhere to resolve this but nobody seems to have the same issue.

The only thing I can think of for the problem is that it's maybe because my username has capitals in the middle of it, but my friend's does too, so I can't see why that would be a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Just thought that I would document a situation that seems to occur.

Last night, I got the bright idea to do a repair install of XP Home, for no particular reason. I had a CD (not slipstreamed, acquired with a PC I bought last year) and I thought I'd try it out, rather than using my slipstreamed copy.

In any case, something went wrong and when I finally was able to get my desktop back...I found that IE6 was reflected as my browser and I could not obtain any support/downloads from the MS website. IE seemed to be working OK for other sites, but not at Microsoft.

Turns out that the repair install process had borked the uninstall of IE8, with the result that the IE7 engine was running behind the IE6 browser which appeared to be properly installed. Since several functions depend on the proper functioning of IE, I found that I could not access Help & Support, download anything from the MS website, etc.

The suggested fixes for this are a routine deletion of IE7 (take a look via Google for topic) or a clean install. The routine suggested to remove IE7 wasn't even possible, since I did not have one of the key files suggested as the .exe, it was not in my IE7 folder.

Ultimately, I decided to reverse the reasoning of many...rather than remove IE7 (which wasn't possible), I would install IE8 from the files I maintain (I keep copies of every major program I install, including SPs and browser changes).

Installing IE8 worked, subsequently this system is back online ... Read more

I am trying to recover my system and need to recreated boot files, boot sector and Boot Configuration Database.
Stage I. Adding boot code
1. I patched system partition with boot code:

This works fine and returns:
Target volumes will be update with BOOTMGR compatible bootcode.
C: (\\?\Volume{GUID})
Forced dismount complete, open handles to this volume are now invalid.
Successfully updated NTFS filesystem bootcode.
Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes.
The {GUID} returned here is the volume GUID for the volume with assigned C: letter. This same GUID can be obtained by using
mountvol command.
However the problem is that system device cannot be located so that the following command:
bootsect /nt60 SYS /force
returns an error:
The system partition was not found: The requested system device cannot be found.
STAGE II. Adding boot data
bcdboot d:\windows /s :c /v /m {GUID}
This command runs successfully and returns: "Boot files successfully created".
STAGE III. Recreating BCD.
1. Removing remnants of BCD
del /q c:\boot\bcd.temp
rd /s C:\boot\
2. Creating new location

2. Creating temporary database
bcdedit /createstore c:\boot\bcd.temp
3. Adding boot manager record to the created database

A:[SOLVED] How to Recover Boot Configuration Database. The Requested System Device Cannot Be Found

The cause is BIOS type.

I used to use Generation 1 VM with BIOS instead of UEFI firmware to boot from the VHD disk. This causes Hyper-V not to see the boot data, hence the "The requested system device cannot be found." while trying to create a file.

Changing the type of VM to Generation 2 (you have to create a new virtual machine, the type cannot be changed in-place) and attaching the same VHD solve the issue.

One time, I opened Internet Explorer, it loaded the homepage (google.com) and then a pop-up came up saying my anti-virus found something (It wasn't one of those fake ones, I could tell. It was my normal AV's pop-up thing),I don't remember what it was though. Once I closed that I noticed that a webpage pop-up came up, from the same site that it said the virus was on. It (not the webpage, my AV) said it got rid of it, so I just ran a scan to make sure and it didn't find anything. Then a little bit ago I went to a different page on a thread on this site (The "games: questions only" thing), and it found it again, from the same site as the last time. It was like antongorbunov.com or something like that I think. And a webpage pop-up came up from it like the last time too.

It doesn't seem to matter which site I go to, because first it was google and now it's this site. Could someone be trying to get access from my modem directly, rather than just a virus from a website? What is going on?

I made a few screenshots of the AV pop-up, but I don't feel comfortable posting them or the name of my AV in public. I could PM you though.

Okay, I'm re-doing this post to clarify/update:

I have Windows XP.
I use Mozilla AND Firefox browsers.
My firewall is Sygate.

I have been trying for the past two or three days to access my website's email, but both of my browsers keep telling me that 'mail*sitename*com cannot be found'.

I can access my site with no problem. It's just my email account that seems to be the trouble.

I just tried a 'ipconfig/flushdns', but that didn't help.

I also disabled my Sygate firewall, and that didn't seem to help either.

I don't know what I'm doing, and am afraid that I'm messing up more things than I'm fixing. My site host said that they would have to talk to some technical people to solve my problem. I'm just worried that the problem is on my end, not theirs.

The only things that have changed on my computer lately, has been to install and then uninstall a virus program that didn't seem to work very well (Counter Spy.....this didn't work well for me....it's probably a spectacular program for others....it just acted very strangely on my computer, so it had to go) and to install and then uninstall an add-on to Firefox (banner blocker program). I've also had one Firefox update fail to install. After all of this install-uninstall, I did a system restore to try and get all of my settings back to where they were. Oh, and I've also recently installed Key Scrambler, which is awesome and works great.

I've done some reading on Mozilla pages, and there is some kind of dns pinging th... Read more

Was it MSN plus you tried to install? if not was the version?

Do you have these problems in any other browsers? Please try one of the below (both are free):

I was recently trying to find out how to change the Minecraft skin from Alex to Steve, but that's not the point. I found a site that has a malicious download, the site itself isn't malicious, just the download. I don't know what to do, I scanned it with ClamTk (uses the ClamAV engine) and it said it was adware (specifically Win.Adware.InstallCore-581), and then scanned it with VirusTotal and got 25/52 detection. Do I report it to you guys? The site and the file? Who do I report it to if not you? Do you guys want me to give you the site? (The reason I didn't do it here was because of your policy).
Posted it here because I was not sure where to put the post.

Not sure if I'm posting in the right forum, but it seems close enough...

Okay... everytime I try going to http://www.myspace.com - a small little box with a yellow triangle with a black exclamation point (like the one I used for this thread title) comes up and says "www.myspace.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again." I was just on there this morning... I go on every day, it's my favorite website. I've tried using different browsers... IE, Mozilla, Netscape, and my Yahoo browser, I have DSL. My roommate has a cable modem, and I asked him to try.. and it works just fine. I don't understand why it's not working... is there anything I can do to fix it? I've ran a scan, and everything looks fine. HELP!!!!!!!!

Sometimes all you need to do is delete the files in your cache or the temp internet files. The little sign is an error sign.

I have a computer that was completely infested with malware. It had those fake spyware programs on it, had items that were running with winlogon so that I could not delete them without the use of Killbox, had to use VundoFix, etc. you name it, it probably had it. After running a number of antivirus programs (Avira, avast, etc.) and antispyware (AdAware, Spybot, etc.), I finally removed everything, or so it seems. HiJackThis is not showing anything out of the ordinary, but since the computer does not have access to the Internet I cannot post the log. I can ping IP addresses and domain names (i.e. google.com), but I cannot visit any web sites via Firefox, IE 7, and the antivirus/antispyware programs are unable to connect to the Internet to update.
I tried the following in a number of orders while rebooting between:
uninstalling the network card
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
deleting the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2 key (which then stopped me from pinging even after reboot until I ran the backup.reg file)
sfc /scannow
I tried Reset in Internet Options / Advanced
I turned off all firewalls that I used to help find out what was going on (LavaSoft's and Windows Firewall)
Nothing seems to work.

I can get files to it by burning them onto a CD if I need to.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I missed? Thanks!!

Ok, so I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box when it comes to computers. I had a computer repair man repair my desktop with a program called CCleaner. I was having the same troubles on my laptop so I figured why not try this magical CCleaner on it. BIG mistake! Now when I log on to the internet I can only be on for a few minutes and my software program for NetZero says : " Error opening file C:\ProgramFiles\NetZero\exec.exe" NetZero needs to close restart your computer to fix this problem." I'm running Windows XP2 Home Edition. I've tried to restore my computer to a date before I ran CCleaner but all the restore points act like there working then comes up that it can't restore to that point. I've also uninstalled Netzero and reinstalled it, but that didn't work either. Keep in mind that I'm on a dial up connection so my speed is kind of slow. Can someone educate me? Thanks

Hey guys,
I found some code on a site that I manage that no one knows where it came from.  It's some Base64 that appears to be generating some sort of Pinterest plugin button.  I'm concerned because no one knows how it got there and I've read about firefox hacks using SVG code to crash the system.
I'm going to throw some comments in here, and I've already screwed with the code dimensions and placement a bit, just to bring the image into the screen.  I didn't realize but some other people already deleted everything they could find so now all i have to show is the sample I was messing with, doesn't give me a lot to go off of, wondering if anything sticks out?
