Z50 - 70 - black screen start (démarrage écran noir)

Q: Z50 - 70 - black screen start (démarrage écran noir)

Hello,

I have a problem with my LENOVO Z50-70 processor I7.

State before the problem:
There was a system update just before this problem, if I recall correctly,
I used much less my PC than before (unloading the battery often thoroughly ...)

Symptoms during ignition:
- The LEDs mains and batteries are green on the front edge of the PC,
- The SHIFT keys do not light up,
- the screen remains black,
- there is no beep whatever emitted by the PC,
- the screen remains black,
- Hard Disk seems to be turning,
- the fan of the Graphics Card and the Processor turns a little at startup,

I tried :
- Ignition with or without battery,
- The ignition with or without mains connection (connection and disconnection that emit a powerful beep that I did not have before)
- Once the battery is removed, press the start button momentarily, nothing happens,
- Press the NOVO button momentarily, nothing happens,
- Once the battery is removed, press NOVO, nothing happens,
- interchange RAM cards,

I have not tried yet:
- hard drive-free boot and hard drive testing in an external case,

I heard :
- Replacing the motherboard battery?
- Replacing the motherboard?

What might be the other solutions to my problem? I am currently out of warranty.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Can someone please help me? I'm a first-time forum user

I've got an Acer Aspire laptop here that has decided to stop loading/starting up.

When I turn the power button on:
- I can see the Acer logo screen (and also get into setup if I press F2)
- The cursor (_) blinks once or twice
- Then the screen just goes black/blank and stays that way

Twice (when I have left power on at the black screen), I have eventually seen this Windows Boot Manager message (maybe after 5 minutes each time):

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Unfortunately, I do not have the Windows installation disk.

I have tried using a System Repair Disk (on DVD, burnt from another laptop with same OS)....but got stuck when the broken laptop didn't detect or couldn't read the disk.

I also tried the Alt+F10 system recovery, but after 20 minutes on the "Please wait a moment..." screen, I gave up and turned the power off.

Please help. Thanks.

Hello noob and welcome to Seven Forums.

Can you get into Safe Mode via the Advanced Boot Options menu? If yes, you can check for damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two in the SFC tutorial.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

Safe Mode

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Another possibility from Safe Mode is to try rolling back your computer to a date/time prior to this problem occuring using a system restore point.

System Restore

I received the following error message when I attempted to restart my computer:

C0000218 Unknown Hard Error

When I restarted after the blue screen it went into a check disk but would not finish the scan.

I have tried to start the computer in safe mode with internet connection and after a few minutes the screen goes black. I've tried to start it using last known configuration and the screen goes black. Everything I try ~ the screen goes black.

Help!!!!

A:Blue screen & now won't start in safe mode, screen goes black

I'm writing from my husband's laptop because my desktop is completely dead.

We were out of town for several days and when we returned my desktop was running very slow so I attempted to restart it. It locked up, I pressed/held the power button and when it restarted it attempted to run a disk check. The disk check locked up and I had to press/hold the power button again. When it restarted I got a blue screen ~ stop: C0000218 unknown hard error.

Sometimes when I attempt to restart it I get: checking file system on C:
file system = NTFS

When I attempt to restart it in safe mode, safe mode with networking or starting in last known good configuration I get . . .

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\windows\appPatch\drvmain.sdb
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\windows\system32\drivers\ . . . (various items)

Now it won't start, not even in safe mode. Everything I try ~ I just get a black screen.

** I just tried to restart AGAIN and it ran disk scan, said it had completed disk scan and would restart, the screen went black when it attempted to restart and the screen is still black and it won't restart.

What can I do to get my computer back?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

A friend of mine asked me to look at his old XP machine because it simply will not fully startup. It does make it through the initial boot routine and the "Windows XP" splash screen appears but, shortly after that, the screen goes black. All you can see is a black screen with a white cursor in the middle of it. The system does not respond to mouse or keyboard input.

I used a Hiren's Boot CD boot disk to look around his system. He has about 40% free space left on the hard drive which seems to function correctly. I am presently running a virus scan (via the Hiren's Boot CD).

I've never seen an XP machine do this so I'm not sure what is going on. I believe he is running SP3 but I'm not certain of this because I can get it fully loaded to check.

Any help would be appreciated.

Background: A week ago on vacation, I opened my HP Pavilion dv7-2173cl (a laptop running Vista Home Premium SP2) and suddenly, green and black lines began forming across its screen. I was later told this was a pressure crack, although that is not what I'm posting about. Freaked out, that day I turned the computer off and on several times using only the power button, once foolishly interrupting a "Startup Repair" process.

Problem: When I got home I hooked up the laptop to my TV so I could see what was going on. After attempting to turn it on many times, I eventually got the BSOD with a STOP:0x0000c1f5 error. I couldn't access the Recovery Module (even to backup) or Safe Mode. Going into personally uncharted territory, I booted from a Linux System Rescue CD to delete the $TxfLog file that was apparently the cause of the problem. I no longer get the BSOD, I get a black screen (KSOD?) (sometimes w/mouse, sometimes w/o) after the "yellow bar" loading screen. I still can't get into Safe Mode but I was able to use a Vista repair CD I downloaded to (finally) backup onto an external hard drive.

What I've Done So Far: I've run chkdsk, checked the memory and hard disk from BIOS options, and run Startup repair. I did the kind of Windows backup where everything goes to one file.

I'd prefer not to start from scratch if I can avoid it. Thanks so much for any and all help guys, I appreciate it a lot.

Charlie

A:Vista won't start up, black screen before login screen.

I couldn't access the Recovery Module...Do you have a Recovery CD, Windows Vista CD, or Recovery Drive (partition)? What happened when you tried to access it?------------------------------------------------------------You said that you were able to backup onto an external harddrive, so important data is safe. The best option right now would probably be to re-format.

I have an HP laptop with XP Home. The laptop is not booting into Windows. When I try to start it, it goes past the BIOS to a black screen with the safe mode and other start options. It allows me to make choices, but freezes after a choice is made. The laptop is out of warranty, so I would like to try to track down the problem without resorting to their tech support. My first impression is that the hard drive may be the problem as I know several other people with similar HP models who have experienced HD failures within the first year. The laptops of this model seem to run very hot as they have Celeron processors that are not of the M variety. Any suggestions as to where I can start to look for the solution?

IF it locks up no matter what choice you make [like even safe mode, last known good config etc] there's a few things you can do.

1. remove recently added hardware, reboot. fix? if no go to step 2.
2. get your copy of win xp [the cd] out and put it into the cd drive. turn off the computer. turn it back on, and boot to the cd [*****see note below]. while its booting to cd it could take a few mins. once at the setup screen chose R for repair, then on the next screen you hit the 1 for the os choice, then enter, then enter for the password, then you'll have a prompt.. just type chkdsk /r and hit enter. this'll take 45mins to run. when done turn computer off, turn back on.. let boot up if fix great if no then step 3.

Hey all, I've been having a rather unusual start up problem, which I can't find relevant information on, through google:

When I try to turn my laptop on, it only gets so far:

vaio logo

 logo.jpg   144.51KB
  1 downloads

then black screen with tiny flashing dash

 dash.jpg   149.81KB
  5 downloads

and that's where it stubbornly stops. Every time.

I can't even get to the boot menu. No amount of hitting F8 takes me to the boot menu, or produces ANY response (yes, it's definitely F8 on this computer). The only thing the computer responds to in this state is ALT+CTRL+DEL, which restarts it.

A bit of context:
Last night my computer had a small "blue screen" crash -- nothing unusual, this has happened to me before on this and other computers, without any serious damage. But this time, I'm having the problems described above.

What I've tried so far
Here's what happens when I try to boot using my Windows Vista installation/recovery disk, downloaded and burned from this site.

Vaio logo, black screen with dash, and then upon hitting F8:

 penguin.jpg   204.87KB
  4 downloads

I hear the CD drive spin (which is a good thing, means it's working), but then an image of the Ubuntu penguin and lots of commands that I don't understand. That's absolutely not what the CD is supposed to do.

One thing to check first is if the drive is not dead or still usable at this stage. Try reseatting the hard drive but first inspect the pins and contact points if they are not damaged or dirty. If everything is clear, reseat it properly with some or most laptops have screws to keep them firmly in place. Remove the laptop battery and press the power button for half a second. Now try booting it up again. If nothing happens go here and use the bootable disc to try and salvage your data. Let us know how it work out.

One of my computers crashed yesterday when the circuits blew. It needs to be fixed.

So, I hooked up my other computer, Windows XP Media Center 2005, and upon starting the computer, I see the typical loading screen, but then when my desktop is due to show up, all I see is a tiny strip of my desktop at the top of the screen (or what I assume is such, because the strip is purple like my desktop). The cursor doesn't show up, and pressing Escape, Windows (by the Ctrl button) and the like, doesn't do anything. I even hooked up my other monitor, and the same thing happens.

The Windows XP was working fine in my old residence, if it is of importance. There have been no issues with either computer until the circuits blew yesterday. Everything is tightly connected, and I just can't figure this out with my manuals.

I am using my sister's computer to ask this, so thank you for being patient with my reply. I will be checking in periodically to see if anyone has a good answer. Thank you very much to anyone that can help.

Also, the Windows Xp 2005 was NOT hooked up at the time of circuit blow

Hey,

This morning my comp downloaded a security update for IE;

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB978207)

Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a system that is running Microsoft Internet Explorer and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

Since it was installed whenever I turn my PC on it sticks at a black screen for a few mins before re-booting and loading properly.

It says I can remove this update if I want, but I'm not sure I should.

Help please?

A:Black Screen on start up.

mmm, after downloading this update my "each day" account reported that it was corrupt. I went in to my admin account, decided to do an Acronis disk image first and then tried my other account again - this time it worked. Have you tried your admin account, or even safe mode? If so do they load properly. Personally I'm not sure removing the update would be a good idea as it apparently plugs a vast hole in IE.

Hi,

When my computer starts up, there is nothing but a black screen for approx. two minutes until the Welcome screen appears. Hence, I cannot get into Safe Mode. Also, the computer in general is very slow.

At start up I get the message "CNYHKey.exe - Component not found. The application couldn't be started, because HKCYDLL.dll couldn't be found."

I've followed Broni's instructions to start the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help", but dds.scr freezes the computer and gmer crashes. So, unfortunately, I cannot post any of the requested logs here.

For further information, please refer to previous thread http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic433903.html/page__st__15__gopid__2541954#entry2541954.

Hello,I have a Thinkpad P50 running windows 10 pro. I have had my laptop for over a year and suddenly, every time I try to turn on my laptop, I only see a black screen. The only way I can turn it on is if I do a full shutdown and then boot up afterwards. I have looked at many forums and have run the lenovo diagnostics and cannot find a solution. My windows is up to date as well. When I am at the black screen I can close my laptop and open it up again and then the lock screen appears for about 2 seconds or so. I have also tried booting with no battery with only the charger. No luck so far...Thanks for any help in advance

I am running XP and for some reason whenever i reset my computer it continously shows a black screen with nothing but "Enter password" on it. I know the password and once I enter it everything works fine but i was curious how might i get rid of it if its possible.

A:Black Start-up screen

That is probably a BIOS password you have set. Go into BIOS and see if you have set something up by mistake.

My wife has a Pavvillion 13-s128nr.  When turning on the machine you get a black screen.  The power light is on but nothing shows up...totally black.  I rebooted the machine a few times same result.  I left the machine on to drain the battery.  Plugged it back in and restrted it same issue.  We bought the machine in November 2015.  What are my options with getting this back and running. thanks,Rob Topham

My problem is: -I press the power button on my tower; it lights up and the ?hp? logo briefly flashes on the monitor. The monitor goes then blank/black.I press and hold the power button on the tower. The power light goes out, and the monitor THEN indicates ?no signal?, as it should.I repress the power button on the tower, and everything boots up, as it should ? most of the time. Also, I cannot get my tower to wake up from sleep ? I have to force a shutdown, by pressing down and holding the power button on the tower.I am hoping someone out there has a SIMPLE solution. Please note, this is new computer with windows 10 pre installed.

Any thoughts ?You say that the Harddrive Tests failed.  Whenever the Hard Disk Short/Long DST test fails that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive has failed and that requires a replacement to resolve the issue  HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby Please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media) Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files. Started up the PCand it booted to a black screen. I didn't change the configuration in any way, it just happened suddenly.
What it does:
The PC turns on like normal. I get the bios screen. I get the Windows logo screen. Then I get a black screen with a mouse cursor in the middle.
I can move the mouse, but the buttons don't do anything--left or right click. No keys on the keyboard change the screen. Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing. Windows key does nothing. Esc does nothing, etc. At this point the only option is to hold down the power button and turn it off.

I heard its the driver problem but i couldn't find a proper update link to solve this problem.

Does anyone here has any good solution ?

Thank you.

Hi, I recently rebuilt my new pc putting in new psu (old one died) and watercooling, I temporarily put the hdd in a pentium 4 whilst the new pc was out of use.

When I put the hdd back into new pc and started up, the screen was black, and remained black until I was in xp and my desktop was visible.

I tried resetting bios, and this appeared to work at first as I saw the logo on boot up, and the windows screen with moving bar came on as well as the blue welcome screen. But now I don't see anything at all until I see the desktop.

The monitor light also flashes on and off a few times during start up.

My pc specs are:

Biostar TPower I45 motherboard
Intel E8600 core 2 duo (2 x 3.33GHz) o.c'd to 3.6GHz
Radeon HD 4870 1GB Sonic Dual Edition graphics card
4GB DDR2 1066 ram
Corsair TX650W PSU
Corsair H50 CPU Watercooler
NZXT hush case (Black)
Maxtor 250GB hard drive
LG dvd/cd writer
LG W2243S monitor (22 inch widescreen)
Wireless Mouse (logitech)
Wireless Router (belkin)
Wireless Headphones (Philips)
Also, I tried uninstalling then installing my graphics card drivers and associated software (like ATI catalyst control centre) as well as the monitor software.

But this doesn't seem to have helped, and sometimes on start up, the catalyst control center says there was a problem, but its not clear what it was, it gives a load of codes and stuff.

I think I need to try computer with a different monitor, but I can't do that until I can borrow one.

Any thoughts are a... Read more

Please can someone help me? I am NOT technically minded and so find it hard to sort out problems or even understand the answers (not a good start).

My PC has been running well - until today! I switched on, the PC worked, it booted up normally and got to the 'windows loading' green bar at the bottom. The screen went blank - the monitor did not go 'off' and neither did the PC.

If I turn the monitor off and on, the screen display is all there - windows has started and there's my desktop. Before I can do much with it though everything goes black again. I tried this a few times and the same thing happened. I booted up with my finger on F8 - booting in safe mode is no different - the PC responds as it should but the screen still goes black. By switching the monitor on and off repeatedly I limp forward to the point where I can do a 'windows repair'. This appears to work and I am now using my PC (obviously).

I have no idea if this will happen again - I wondered if some automatic update has clashed with graphics drivers but I don't know what I'm talking about nor what to do with the thought :-)

Please could someone give me a best guess solution in easy speak - I stress - I'm not in the least bit techie - any help most gratefully received - I'm scared to switch off now in case I can't get back here! Thank you.

Cheers
Karen
