lenovo u410 won't work. Boot menu/App menu pops up

Q: lenovo u410 won't work. Boot menu/App menu pops up

So when I turn on my lenovo u410 laptop I get this menu box up as seen below in a black background. I've played around with the menu and I get nothing. This has been happening for the past few days and usually it manages to get past this and start up normally. However today is the day it's decided to stay put and I have no idea what to do. This is very frustrating as I only bought the laptop less then 2 months ago. Please help! It's windows 8 btw

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi N_A,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to guide you in a way to try to set the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) inside the BIOS to be the first priority booting order so we will try to return the BIOS to factory default settings:

Step1: Please turn off the machine and then at the left side you can see the NOVO button which is the button with the curve arrow

Step2: Press on the NOVO button and then you will get option press on BIOS Setup

Step3: Please press on FN+F9 together and then press Enter on Yes option and then FN+F10 to save and exit and then press Enter

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Regards

Soha

Hi, I have just done a complete reinstall of Windows 10 on my AIO system and the Windows Start Menu pops up randomly by itself. It is becoming more frequent which is very annoying. I have gone in to Device Manager and disbled the HID-compliant touch screen device (note- it appears twice) as I saw another post somewher on the net which this says solves the issue but in my case it did not. The computer has all the latest Windows Updates installed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Glenn

So thanks to some type of error in Vista, I have these strange menu problems. Firefox menu's work just fine, but the normal right click menu's and menu's under programs do not show up correctly. For some reason, the menu choices are invisible, a clear box unless hovered over.
Not sure why. I have 3 attacked images, They are 3 jpg's, screen captures that show what they look like.
I'd really appreciate knowing what I've done to cause this and what I can do to solve this issue.

EDIT: Oh, I feel like I should say to ignore the site I'm on. I am by no means I troll, I just seem to have this error that doesn't fade for some reason.

EDIT 2: Installing a few new updates and a shut-down seems to have temporarily solved the issue. I may repost in this thread if the issue re-appears and persists.

Hello everyone I am having a bit of trouble with this G580 lenovo laptop, which can't boot.Problem: HDD and CD/DVD is visible in info tap in bios, however they are not visible in the boot tap, only EFI network IP4 and IP6 are visible. I tried switching the HDD at first just to make sure if it would do anything, but did not work, so i switched back. But i have never seen this kind of issue before, so i actually have no idea what to do. The bios version installed is V9.01 i hope if anyone have an idea that might help solve this issue. --Mootix--

A:Lenovo G580 - Boot menu can not find CD/DVD, HDD, or USB's

Okay it seems i have resolved my own issue, i will report how and what i did so anyone with the same issue can try this. Okay so apparently the Bios were setup to only reqister boot devices that had something to do with Windows 8, meaning that the harddrive which was completely empty of any data, had nothing to do with Windows 8 and therefor can't be booted with the current Bios settings. 1. Go to the Security tap and disable "Secure boot" only temp.2. Go to the Boot tap and change "Boot mode" from UEFI to Legacy Support.3. In the Boot tap change "Boot prio" to "Legacy First".4. Reboot and press F2 and check the boot tap for the HDD under "Boot device prio"Done I think that since the HDD don't have Win8 installed it will not show as a boot device unless it is on Legacy Support.Becuz UEFI on the G580 only supports HDD with a installed Win8 OS. I should now be able to reinstall Win 8 - 8.1 to the HDD.

Hi, I just bought an L460 Thinkpad (14", 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SDD, core i5 6200U) without an OS, under a certain scheme for students and academics. I'm trying to install a Linux distro via USB. However, after pressing F12 and entering the Boot Menu, when I select USB HDD and press Enter, the Boot Menu prompt reappears. Making a selection here does not seem to have any effect, and thus I'm unable to boot from USB. Startup settings in BIOS: Legacy Only, CSM [Yes]. Would be grateful if someone could give some pointers as to how to proceed. Thanks,

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Y480 whose HDD is in the process of failing.  I just got a Samsung SDD, and put a bootable copy of Win10 onto a USB stick.  Problem now is that I can't figure out how to get the computer to boot from the USB stick.  I'm in the BIOS Setup right now, and I've been through the topics both on the Lenovo website, and through a couple of different links from Google.  I just can't find the options mentioned in either of those websites. I'm not sure where to go from here.  Anybody run into a similar problem?  Any ideas on how to get this computer to boot from the USB stick so that I can install a fresh Win10 onto the machine? Thanks for the help!

nvm, I just got it working. I had to disable UEFI in order to do it from the "Boot" menu in Setup. I'll re-enable it later to make sure I don't accidentally boot from a different USB stick later.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If you have tried FN+F2 when boot?
Or holding down Shift and clicking restart?
If those steps did not work either,  You might need to contact Lenovo Technical Support and have the system shipped to Repair Facility for BIOS Reflash.

Found this article but it is for the same model that has same issue like yours.

I would need to see it to be sure, but my guess is that the hard disk was logically damaged.  That means the boot record or partition information was wiped out.  It could also be a disk hardware error.  Do you have a backup?

Hi. I have a Lenovo P50 that after doing recent Windows 10 updates, it now is not booting properly. When it boots, it brings me to a boot menu that is completely empty. It does not detect the hard drives, any external usb/hard drives, external DVD, etc. from the boot menu. If I run a diagnostics, that detects the drives for example, and all results come back fine.  If I try to go in to the BIOS and edit anything in the boot order, that too shows nothing. Also, the network boot option shows nothing.  I cannot figure out why there are no boot options appearing and why I also cannot even boot of a USB if I wanted to.

I've had my laptop for over a year now and I've encountered errors before but they've been fixed but now I've come across an error which I just can't seem to get around. Everytime I boot up my laptop it shows the boot menu but all the options do nothing at allEven pressing the novo button to the side doesn't do much, I've tried all options but only for it to lead to the boot menu however when I open the Bios it worksI've set it to its defaults and it still has the same issue Product name - Lenovo ideapad 110-15aclBios version - 1QCN16WWEC version - 1QCN16WWMTM - 80TJ000UUKLenovo SN - PF******UUID Number - 15B344F-10EB-11E6-9614-507B9DF15A3B CPU - AMD A8-7410 APULIA with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics System Memory - 8192 MbHard Disk - Not installedODD - HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GUEON - ATAPI -(S2) Preinstalled OS license - SDK0J40700 WINOA3 Key ID - 3258045922877OA2 - NSecure Boot - Enable The only thing I can think of that's causing errors is the Hard drive not being installedI believe it's not being detected and I'd like to know what could help or even fix this as I've been doing work at my college for the mean time while it goes through these errors Thanks for your time.

When I switch on my Lenovo Z580, it gets stuck on the Boot Menu/App Menu and after going back and forth, it eventually starts properly, is there a way to have my PC start properly without the boot menu/app menu popping up in the first place. Any help on fixing this will be much appreciated as I fear it is only a matter of time before it stays stuck on the boot menu/app menu pop up screen.

A:can't access UEFI BIOS and BOOT menu on my lenovo z580

I own a Lenovo G700, and I have heard that Shift + F2 will get you into the BIOS. It might work if all else fails. You can also call Lenovo support or search around a bit more. But in my case I have to use the hardware OneKey Recovery button to access it.

I've had my laptop for a little while now, and today my laptop suddenly crashed, and without me realising it crashed to a blue screen I turned my laptop off by holding down the power button.

Now every time I turn on the laptop I'm stuck on Boot Menu / App Menu, out of the four options that are there I can only press setup, but I have no idea what to do in setup that may help. I can't get on my laptop at all this way and it's very frustrating :/
