cannot install my Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Q: cannot install my Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

I am using a wireless linksys wrt160n router with a linksys AE1000 usb adapter on windows 7. Up until now I have had no problems. A few days ago, I came home to find that we had had a blackout. I had no connection and could not seem to fix it.
Up until that time, I've always used my network connection 4 for internet access but no matter what I did to I couldn't get a connection. So I thought if I disabled this connection and then enabled it that somehow it would reset itself and I would have a connection. Unfortunately when I disabled it there was no option for enabling it because it disappeared. I currently am using network connection 6, but my internet is at a crawling speed.

I searched on how to reinstall network connections 4 and found this page http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings
At the bottom is says to "To install IPv4, run Command Prompt as an administrator, type netsh interface ipv4 install, and then press Enter." I did so successfully and restarted my computer like it said to after inputting the command. But when I brought up my network connections, there was no network connection 4.

I even went to the command prompt and typed ipconfig /all and the IPv4 entries are not there like it used to.
Any help would be appreciated.

thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am just curious about this protocol. on my desktop computer it shows local access and sometimes shows limited internet access. On my Laptop, wifi puter, the IPv6 is never used, is there a way to utilize this protocol for my laptop and why does the access go from limited internet to Local on my desktop?

Thank you

I don't know much about IPv6. Even this 'introductory' video is too technical for me in parts!; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wa7y3W2DI0&feature=related

One thing I do remember reading last year, when IPv6 Day was held, was that it wouldn't have much impact on home users until the majority of ISP's enabled the new protocol on their servers. I assume that will cost money so they'll only do it when IPv4 addresses are closer to exhaustion.

EDIT: Attempts to post the video URL seem to produce a 'freeze frame'. Go to www.explania.com and search 'What is IPv6?'

I want to know if there's some way to make shortcut for these settings so I can click on that shortcut whenever I want to configure the Internet Protocol V4?

A:Network protocol missing after version 10 update

I have a laptop, I found after installing up dates after initial windows 10 install and restarting, I could not connect to the internet and error was missing protocols etc , while I am computer illiterate I rummaged around and found, That by turning off my laptop and then turning on, there was no error and I was connected to the internet, if I just restart the laptop then the error is back and so is loss of internet connection, so while this may be unrelated to your problem and I have yet to get this problem resolved it may help someone get connected, so turn off, not restart.

I know there is a newer version that the one I have. I have 6.0.2600.0000. The newer version is on the microsoft website. I can download it fine, but when it tries to install it, it tells me that the software is not supported by windows xp. I have installed it in the past before with no problems, on xp. I just can't seem to get it to work now. Does anyone have any suggestions why it might not be working. I'm trying to install it because I think my ntdll.dll file is corrupt. And ntdll.dll is a part of internet explorer.

The newer version is 6.0.2800.1106

We have an important LOB application (QuickBooks 2018) that requires that requires Internet Explorer 11 for QB to operate correctly.  Unfortunately our server runs Windows Server 2012 Essentials as an operating system (not R2).  From reviewing
various Microsoft documents, I realize that IE 11 is not supported on Server 2012.  However, we need to be able to run QuickBooks, which requires that version of IE.  Upgrading the server OS to 2012 R2 would take hours, because there is no in-place
upgrade option.  We would have to reinstall and configure the OS again from scratch.
Is there anything we can do to resolve this problem?
Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Hi,
I have a strange problem with my uncles desktop pc. That pc has to be always on for video recording but once in a while Windows will automatically reboot and i just can't exactly find out why.
But why i did found out is that he's always getting 3 error messages (in the Windows event viewer) about 20 min prior to the unplanned reboot.
These are the error message in the event viewer:
1) The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 1203 --> Schannel ID3688 --> time: 19:00
2) The same as above on the exact same time with same event
3) RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client --> TermDD ID50 --> Time: 19:48 (about 25 min prior to the reboot)
Who can help me out here. This is driving me crazy. Sometimes we miss days of recording, while we aren't using that PC for other things.
Thanks in advance!

I did quite a bit of online research prior to asking my own question, but none of  the solutions I've found online really pertain to the issue we're experiencing.
We have 2 Windows 7 Pro PCs in the office.  They are accessed via RDP from within the same network/location.  The systems that are accessing these 2 PCs are an XP Pro machine and a Mac.  The clients stay connected for randomly lengths of time
(no longer than 1 hour) before the session goes black and disconnects them randomly.  When the disconnect occurs, it's not due to inactivity.  The user has to wait several minutes before they are able to reconnect.
On the Windows 7 PCs, Event Viewer gives:
Event ID: 50  The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.
Event ID: 56  The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.
I've seen suggestions of checking registry keys and a lot of suggestions regarding Windows Server and Terminal Server, but they don't apply to our situation.  Please let me know if more information is required.  Thank you!

A:The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.

Hi,

Do you enable the
IEEE 802.1x authentication?

Regarding the issue, I suggest updating the network adapter driver manually on Windows 7 PCs. Also update the router's driver and firmware.

If the issue persists, you could disable the TCP Offload. To do this,

a.
Run the following commands on both the client and the server to disable NIC offloading.

netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled

netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled

b.
Modify the following registry key to disable netDMA on the client and the server.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\EnableTCPA

Note: If this registry entry does not exist, right-click Parameters, point to New, click DWORD Value, type EnableTCPA, and then press ENTER.

Value: 0

You can also refer to the following KB to troubleshoot the issue. Hope it helps.

Well recently I had been experiencing problems with connecting my laptop (running Windows XP SP3) to the internet. I soon found out that it was because the DHCP service wasn't running and when I tried to start it, I got an error message. I followed a Microsoft Help article and I got to the part when I go to the Device Manager and check to make sure the three services DHCP depends on are working. AFD and NetBios over tcpip were working but under the "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" list, TCP/IP Protocol Driver was listed with a yellow exclamation mark. I opened it, ran the troubleshoot and tried uninstalling it. When I rebooted my laptop, I was on the part where I'm supposed to reinstall it. I tried the "add new hardware" wizard but that wouldn't detect it. I went through the DRIVERS folder in the System32 directory and TCPIP.sys is still listed there.

I've tried a whole load of online suggestions from different places but ultimately, none of them work. So without the TCP/IP Protocol Driver listed and working under the Device Manager list, my DHCP service won't start up and I won't be able to connect to the internet. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Ok:Sorry, but you really have given us nothing to go on here.
Is this a wired or wireless connection?
Did this ever work?
If so,what changed ?Hardware/software ?
Any error msg on connection attempt ?
For starters,may we see :
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I bought a new HP Pavilion laptop recently and it will not connect directly to the Internet with a cable wire (but strangely it will connect when I use a wireless modem at home, which I am now using) Anyway, I need to fix this problem because I work in two (sometimes three) different locations, none of which has a wireless connection.

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with my internet connection. It's the not-uncommon 'IPv4 No internet access' but all the usual fixes aren't working. My computer is connecting with IPv6.

A few points:

Other devices connect with no problem to router.
I can hotspot my iPhone internet to the computer with no problem.
This only happens between the router and my computer.

Zyxel D365
Fiber 1000/1000
Windows 10
Intel(R) Wireless AC- 9560 160MHz
IPv4 Default gateway - 192.168.1.1

I've tried:

Updating my network drivers
Released and renewed my IP configuration
Reset Winsock
Restarted router
Flushed my DNS cache
Disabled IPv6
Disabled firewall
Manually changed my DNS and IP addresses
Checked 802.11n/ac is active (selected)
Factory reset of computer.

Any thoughts? I feel like I've covered everything.

Then I tried to reconnect to the Internet and the computer connects with limited connectivity but wouldn't let me access internet. After clicking diagnose it comes up with 2 boxes one which says that the adapter haw driver or hardware isses but im not sure how to follow up on and the other is to make sure that Internet protocol bindings are correct: to ensure that IPv4 and IPv6 are deleted in configuration and I have selected them after clicking the dialogue box windows tried to but comes up with the same dialogue box.
Dispute this my iPod touch can connect to the Internet.

A:Cannot connect to Internet IPv4 and IPv6 problems please help!

When you have two security applications apparently so corrupted that you cannot uninstall them adding yet another one doesn't seem to me to be moving in the right direction.

At this point I would be formatting the partition and going to a "fresh" Vista via Installation DVD, Recovery partition, Recovery DVDs or a backup image from before the problems started.

To continue on your current path I suggest to try uninstalling those critters in Safe Mode. There is a Removal Tool for ZoneAlarm; don't know about the others.

The network adapter "Local Area Connection" is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol

The network adapter "Nvidia Networking Controller" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues.

Make sure your Internet Protocol Bindings are corrext
ensure that "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" are selected in teh configuration for the network adapter "Local Area Connection"

I checked the network adapter drivers and it said they were up-to-date.

I also did the protocol bindings check thing and they were both checked.

Any help? Operating system windows vista 32-bit.

After the remote reboot I could not reconnect to the internet: the local area connection status shows that ipv4 & 6 is not comnected anymore. I tried to turn on and off my network adapter, turn off my firewall and connect my pc directly to my cable modem( instead of being connected to my cisco 4200 v2 router) but nothing!!! I also tried to restart the DNS Client service and the DHCP client service: still nothing. The windows troubleshoot indicate a problem with the network adapter driver but I doubt it. I'm trying to do an automatic installation of Windows 7, I've captured  the Windows image and I wanted to create an unattended file using the Windows System Image Manager. But if i try to load the image, I receive the following error:

This application requires version 6.3.9600.16384 of the Windows ADK. Install this version to correct the problem

After acquiring the image I did the driver injection through Dism GUI, I imported the image through Windows System Image Manager to create the answer file, and everything was OK. However, I had to edit the image again to add a folder and two files that would
have been useful to launch a post installation script. I used DISM GUI again. Once I saved the image I tried to import it again with the Windows System Image Manager, but in fact I receive the error mentioned above.

Now I did not understand what I did by saving the wim file last time, because before it was possible to read it and after the last modification no.

In a Laptop I have version 6.3.9600.17029 of AIK and on a Workstation is present the version is 6.1.7600. 16385 but in both cases the error I receive is always the same ....

What could have happened?

Hi im having problems with my computer, i have tried to fix by following instructions on the thing above yet none have been successful.

With my internet im having this pop up when i trying to connect wireless.

Adaptor is connected to router but not the internet.
There might be a problem with one or more network adaptors on this computer.

- The nextwork adaptor "RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N USB Adaptor WN111" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues.
- Make sure your internet protocol bindings are correct.
Ensure that "internet Protocol versiion for4" and "internet protocol version 6" are selected in the configuration for the network adaptor "Wireless Network Connection".

Thing is.. the Adaptor works on other computers just not this.. ive tried it in other usb prots aswell...can anyone help me please...
my isp says it has nothing to do with them.

Have you contacted ZTE to get support? Maybe there's something you need to install to get Windows 7 working?

Hi,

Suddenly I cannot connect to the internet from my PC. This post is from my laptop, which is connecting to the internet fine.

The diagnosis I run via Vista states that I should check that IPV4 and IPV6 are both enabled and in one of the wireless connection screens, these are both enabled checked.

However, in another screen in the network connection settings (status I believe), it says IPV64 Not Connected and IPV6 Not Connected.

One of the diagnosis suggestions was to check whether the network adapter is working fine. I went into Device Manager, checked the newtork adapter and all other related devices, and these were reported as working fine.

I have a wireless connection and I couldn't even get into a local IP for the router settings (but I could from this laptop). No packets are being sent or recieved.

Any ideas what is up?

Thanks

A:IPV4 and IPIPV4 and IPV6 Not Connected can't connect to the internet

IPv6 is rarely connected, and usually I disable it. Can you connect using a wired connection?

Let's see this for that machine.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I was trying to hook my computer directly up to the internet rather than wirelssly. I connected my computer to the router hooked up to the internet through a network cable. My main computer also uses this router to hook up to the internet. I try to enable sharing on microsoft 2000 pro and it tells me i must install at least one protocol for this network to work. I try to install TCP/IP and it tells me "Could not add the requested component. The error is: 0x8004A021. The computer says that I'm connected and says it has sent things to the main computer. Not really sure if it needs to communicate with the other computer considering the router is directly connected to the cable modem. It says Local Area Connection 1 has a 100mbps connection speed but i can't connect.

please help

So I bought what I thought what the full version of Windows 7 Pro online for the student discount for $65. I got it all installed and the activation key wouldn't work.

Long story short I got the upgrade version on accident. So I got that refunded and I'm about to just go buy Home Premium. I need to install it. Do I need to uninstall Pro before I install Home Premium? Or will it just get rid of it for me when I install it?

A:Got the wrong version installed. Need to install correct version

No need to uninstall. The new installer will clear the disk.

(I have Windows XP) I was trying to clean out my computer for more disk space, so I was deleting files I thought I didn't need in my Program Files. I have a habit of deleting by using SHIFT+DELETE, which permanently deletes the file without sending it to the Recycle Bin. So I went into a folder titled "Bin" and deleted a bunch of what I thought was gibberish (weird file names). I also deleted other things I thought were unimportant.

Who would've thought that after doing that stupid act, I can no longer upload files, send files, OR view videos in my Windows Media Player.

ANOTHER THING: It also sometimes gives me an error message saying Windows met an error and had to close. I was viewing My Computer when it happened, and when I clicked more info. it said that I was missing an Internet Protocol (IP)..so I'm wondering how I can get it back?

Someone please tell me what I'm missing

I am trying to set up my Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). I am not sure of the IP address for my computer (one of four connected to broadband through a lan in my office). I forgot to note it down when reformatting my hard disk recently. But I have a good idea of what it might be since I have the IP addresses of the other three computers. Unfortunately I am not in a position to contact the Service Provider and no one here seems to have the list of numbers.
What I want to know is this?
Are the Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Server addresses the same for all four computers? Is it only the IP addresss that is different? It will be easier for my (by trial and error) to hit on the right IP Address if that is the only address I have to worry about.

When I right click on the connection in network connections and select properties, they don't show me the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) at all. When I click on properties there is only a general tab and only says " This connection allows you to connect to the internet through a shared connection with another computer". Also there is a setting buttons but nothing is in it though. I am using Win XP, with a Linksys router model, WRT54GC. How do I view the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) to set a static IP? Plz help.

It looks like this when i right click on properties on the connection.
