I need IE to open IE PDFs that contain school files so I can print them for class, but it won't open them and I cannot open any new IE tabs. It doesn't close but nothing is actually open.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Computer is Toshiba Satellite L305 with 4g ram, 150 Gig HD. Using Vista Home Premium OS. I use the following browsers:
Maxthon 2.51, Internet Explorer 9 Beta (new) and Opera 11. Most of the time I use the Maxthon browser.

Recently took the computer in to see about slow down in processing. We removed some programs in start and in background. Added one gig of Ram to bring to 4G. Everything seems to be working fine except for two problems that no one has seen before or has any idea where to go to fix.

1. Subesquent to the work in the repair shop, the computer began to have a problem with links from emails to the browser. After I click on a link a error message box comes up that says it can't find the link address, lists the address and asks if I spelled it right.

At the same time the same link appears on a tab and works fine. This occurs on more than one browser. I can't imagine what could cause a link to use resources to double the command or whatever it is doing.

2. After I added the memory, and clicked on some links, I began getting messages that the interent connection isn't working and it will diagnose the problem. After the diagnostic program runs, it says there is not a connection problem and wants to send the info to Microsoft.
This doesn't happen when I click on every link and I haven't been able to pin it down.
I've never run into these two problems before. Could it be related to the IE 9 Beta? How can I go back to IE 8 if it is?

Ok, I've searched and searched for this and found almost nothing.

I have one workstation that receives XML files that they should be able to open in Excel 2007 and work with. Here are the symptoms:

- double-clicking on the file to open it does nothing except change the cursor briefly
- right-clicking and choosing "Open" has the same effect
- right-clicking and choosing "Edit" opens the file normally

I'm stumped. There's nothing in the event logs and I've tried comparing registries but I'm coming up with blanks. Google and Microsoft support searches come up blank. I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm not finding it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

After I install the game, Call of Duty 4 and try to open it the single player mode immediately crashes whereas the multiplayer mode works properly with no hangups or problems. I have tried numerous times to install it on various computers with very little success. Please suggest a solution as soon as possible.

WOw. Weird problem going on here. I have no idea what may have caused this, but anyway, basically what is happening here is that now whenever I double click a music file from my "my music" folder nothing happens. It goes to the little hourglass thingy like its thinking for a split second and then nothing happens. The file won't open.

So this was pissing me off. I have no idea why I can't open my music files in a simple manner any longer.

The other thing is that they will open fine if WMP (my default player) is already open. If WMP is just sitting there in the background and I double click an audio file it opens without a problem, but if nothing is open and I double click on an MP3 it does nothing.

What's Going On Here???

Hello, I know variations of this question have been asked already, but I'm not finding answers that seem to actually work.
For example, if I click on a link in my Favorites Bar or in my Favorites, they open in the already open tab, not in a new tab.

This is not the case for Firefox; in FF they always open in a new tab. In previous versions of IE there were plugins that enabled this feature, but in IE10, Desktop version, all we seem to have are the tab options in settings. I have tried setting it
to always open in new tabs, and in new a new window, but nothing works.
Please don't mention keyboard shortcuts, as that doesn't seem intuitive; who wants to remind themselves to use the shortcut every time?

And yes, I know I could go back to FF, but I'm not a quitter! I want to like IE10, and I'm willing to give it a chance in spite of a few shortcomings.

Is there a plugin or registry hack to really really really make IE10 ALWAYS open links in new tabs?

A:How to ALWAYS open links in new tabs on IE10, desktop version? Settings>Internet Options>Tabs seems incomplete......

As far as I know, the behaviors of clicking some links are different due to how they are designed for some websites; there should be some purposes about why they are designed in such
way. There might be no other way to achieve this in Internet Explorer. Please understand that Internet Explorer and Firefox are different, such as on how they are designed and how they work; and Firefox needs an add-on to do this.
In Internet Explorer, there are many shortcut keys to reduce the operations and make it easier to use; I think you can have a try. I would like to share the following with you for your reference:

I have a problem with what I think is malware. I don't quite know if it's still on my computer or not but here's the problem; when I open a new tab it often opens a pop-up for Viewster.com, or rarely some random dating site which I can't remember the name of. As you can guess when that particular site pops up it's a picture of a girl, and a registration form to the right of it. When it's Viewster.com, it opens up a video of some sort, with some thumbnail to typical gossip stories underneath.

This all started when I updated a Chrome Extension called Last Pass. I have no idea why it could have been that because I trust it personally and it's got some good reviews, and it's never done this before. When I updated it, that's when the problem started.

Oh yeah, one last detail before I give a C/P of my DDS.txt, when the pop-up loads, the URL field is usually a bunch of random characters that starts with a H, before it decides to show me either Viewster or that dating website.

Edit: Websurveycheck has introduced itself as another one, do I need to keep doing this every time I see a new site popping up?

Using FF 5.0. Like the system restore where I can get all of my tabs back, but sometimes it doesn't work. It happened this morning, where I just got a blank screen. History / Restore Previous Session is greyed out. Attached is the screen I unfortunately get if I try to do a System Restore.

I did a search for all "sessionstore" files and copied them to a working directory on my desktop, a screen capture of this is attached as well. I had to rename a couple of the files so that one didn't overwrite the other.

Not sure if I'll need a text editor as shown here <Extracting open URLs from sessionstore.js>...

but the instructions seemed a bit complicated. Towards the end of this thread, it wrote about opening sessionstore in mozilla FF as a standard html file or using something called a parser. I have no idea what a Bookmarklet is.

This blows me away <page 4 of Extracting open URLs from sessionstore.js>...

As well as this using a Command Prompt <Extract all urls from last firefox sessionstore used in a portable way>...

My command prompt doesn't recognize sed, perl, or grep. This also, I can't follow...

Can someone please help here?

I have tried several things and cannot seem to find info on how to correct this. When I open IE 11, I have two tabs open at once. It is very frustrating as it slows the process down just to get yahoo.com (which is my default homepage) to open. Also if I click on a topic in yahoo to read, and the link opens a tab, the yahoo toolbar setup will open one to 5 tabs.  Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this please? Thank you in advance for any information/advice.

I have a windows xp laptop.

A little padlock sign has appeared on the bar along the bottom of my laptop screen, it keeps popping up saying its 'System Tool' and that I need to buy it due to viruses on my computer and I can't find a way to delete it. I keep telling it that i want to continue unprotected. I tried running anti malware scans in normal mode but my computer kept sutting down halfway through scans to a blue screen saying I should run my computer in safe mode. So, I went on to safe mode. Nothing is popping up in safe mode, and I have tried running my Windows Security Essentials scan but it can't find any problems. I got a friend in who helps my family to fix computers and he thought he had fixed it (I'm not sure how) but it had popped up again when I next looked at my computer. So, I went back to safe mode and thats where i am now.

I still have IE8 installer on the desktop, so someone else may help you.

But I'd suggest that you try the Avant Browser. It isn't really a "browser", but a frontend for IE, with tabs and maybe a lot more features you would like, like skins. It can be used along with IE and you can choose which is your "default".

I am using Google Chrome.  I have checked programs and features and there is no new programs, I have run malwarebytes, PC Cillan, CCleaner.  The malware found 7 things but I didn't make a log, the trend micro thing found nothing and CCleaner cleaned up things but it is still showing the really spammy ads.  I haven't had a new tab open in a while but I am getting wizard game ads and squash the cockroach for a new Ipad.  I almost want the political ads back.
The only thing I have downloaded recently is Java which gave me quite a fit the other day.
Is there anything else that I can try?

A:ads open in new tabs and all ads are very spammy topics

In Chrome you can check for extensions in the settings via the "burger" menu button top right (is this on a PC ?) also check the default home page and search engine while you're there. Remove everything you didn't want or intend to have.
Adwcleaner is worth a try too - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/dl/125/

How can I open multiple URLs in IE9 from a scheduled event? I want to open a set of traffic cameras and traffic report sites before I leave work every day. I can set up a scheduled job, but I can't get all the sites to open as tabs in the same IE9 window.

I'm copying and pasting this from a post I made on Reddit in hopes that someone can help me:

Here's my system specs.

Last night my computer was working perfectly fine, I was watching youtube videos and having a good time, and then suddenly Chrome just decided that it wasn't going load any tabs. I closed it, tried opening Microsoft Edge. Didn't Work. Tried opening Firefox. Didn't work. One website suggested a rootkit problem so I went into safe mode and ran a full scan for rootkits on MalwareBytes which found nothing. I can open applications and my browsers and everything works just fine when I use Safe Mode With Networking. If I'm not in safe mode and I immediately try to open Chrome when my computer starts up, it will open but then not open any tabs, and then if I close it and try to reopen it, it won't open. The start menu and Cortana also don't work unless I'm in Safe Mode.
Sorry for wall of text and I hope I was specific enough. Thank you!

Lots of RAM?
Or is CPU more important?

Just wondering what I should look for when getting a new laptop.

I don't need any more extensive demands - like needing to run CPU hogging software.

A:What do you need to have loooads of browser tabs open?

I would select a laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor and at least 8 GB of RAM.
You didn't specify any particular brand/model or display size or Windows version, so your choice is pretty much unlimited.
Unless you insist on buying new, www.newegg.com has a large selection of refurbished ones.

Hello all!

Hopefully someone out there can give me some suggestions on this.

Version of IE (Internet Explorer): 7.0.5730.11

Operating System: Windows XP Home (running Avira AntiVir Personal Antivirus, and Online Armor Firewall)

What the problem is: For a while now, I have noticed more and more IE's sluggish behaviour in terms of opening up a new tab or window. Whereas it should open quite quickly, I noticed a 'stutter' so to speak, as it takes quite some time to initially launch IE, open a new tab, or open a new window. It is roughly about a 5-10 second delay usually.

What you have tried: I am almost positive this is an IE Add-on issue as I have launched IE 7 without add-ons enabled, and the difference is amazing. Tabs open instantaneously, and windows much quicker than with add-ons enabled. I have tried using IE with add-ons with both my antivirus and firewall disabled, but yet again, it was still quite sluggish.

Give detail explaining your problem: I downloaded toolbar cop and here is the log I get from it. Hopefully someone can give me some hints on what I can possibly disable.

I'm a dedicated Firefox user, but also like to fool around with other browsers. However, I often give up on IE(11) because I can't get it to automatically open links into new tabs. By "automatically," I mean when left clicking a link, that link should simply open into a new tab (as does FF) and not open in the tab from which the link was selected. I don't want to have to either right click and "choose open in new tab" or have to use the keyboard. For the life of me, I can't understand why IE can't be made to force a link to open in a new tab with one simple left click?

My question is the subject line.
Unfortunately, I have lost my reference on this matter. Some time ago I saw an article in Discover Magazine by a guy who is assigned the task of protecting the entire WWW. It was an interesting read, but the topic that most caught my attention was he said to never do anything personally critical, meaning specifically on line banking, while having multiple tabs open.
Why? If you have Avast, Comodo, etc running.
And if this is true, how do you stop an intrusion like this? I ask because I usually have 4 tabs open at all times, my wife however has 15 to 25 tabs open at once. She's a crochet maniac and switches crochet patterns like guys switch radio (tv) stations, lol.
A second question would be; how safe is it to watch youtube videos? I watch a few, mostly music related, but my wife watches all sorts of yt vids, and her son is off the shelf watching anything yt (youtube)

A:How can you catch a bug by having multiple tabs open?

The person is probably lying, cause no harm is done by using multiple tabs -- If it was a bug,it's patched by the browser vendors a long, long time ago
Answer for second question : 100% safe,no harm is done by videos, especially, those hosted by huge companies like Google

When I click on a link, I get 2 tabs that open with the link rather than just one. I use Firefox but noticed that it happens on Internet Explorer also.

I'm also having problems when I try to copy/paste. Sometimes, when I highlight the words to copy, the highlight won't stay. I have to do it 2 or 3 times before the highlight stays there. Then, sometimes when I go to paste to another document, it doesn't take. It pastes something I previously was pasting and I have to do it twice before it comes through correctly.

Any ideas what's causing these problems?
