I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I bought my computer in April 2012 and never activated my preinstalled MS Office ; I guess I didn't need to at the time.  I now need to activate it, and can't find my product code; I'm not even sure it came with the computer, because I don't have it anywhere, and I saved EVERYTHING from when I bought it except the packaging.

Hi, Your machine does not have MS Office pre-installed     http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03499435 You can buy MS Office from Microsoft OR try the following free product     https://www.openoffice.org/download/ Regards.

The Bundled Office 365 subscription that came with my HP Pavilion has an issue. Microsoft's activation web site says it is invalid. Chatted with the Microsoft tech he said it is a good product code but HP needs to say that I have purchased it. Chatted with an HP tech he had me download and install the Office 365 free trail. He said when that expires I should then enter the product code. This doesn't sound correct to me and doesn't help me download it on to my other computers as stated on the subscription card. It says this is good for up to 5 PC. I have registered this new machine so it should be activated. HP needs to fix the issue.

This Notebook came with Office 365 One Year Home Subscription as part of the bundle. The Subscription is for up to 5 PC for one year. I registered this notebook and I repeatedly tried to activate this on the Microsoft site following the instruction on the subscription card. The automated site said it was an invalid number. I made absolutely sure the product code was entered correctly. I contact a MS tech by chat and he verified it was a good product code but it was set up to be activated by HP. The MS tech suggested I contact HP which I did by Chat.
Here is the case number 3029147850.  Anand Kumar from HP Chat Support team had me download the free office 365 trail on the notebook. He claims that at the end of the one month trail I'll be able to activate the one year subscription with teh product code. I'm not sure this will work and it leaves me unable to download Office 365 on my other 3 computers because they have an olde version of Office and all they want to do is an upgrade.
So what is going on here how am I to be able to download and activate Office 365 properly?

I hope someone can help me with this issue.

The only location for that code would be on a card that shipped with the system - if you have lost that, you're essentially out of luck and will need to purchase a new license.

I currently have Win 7 Pro retail 64 bit installed on my system. I ordered a second copy of Win 7 Pro retail to install as a second instance on my system, then later deactivate that second instance of Win 7 and then install it on a new computer if and when
I buy a new computer. Unfortunately, what I received shows an OEM sticker inside what looks like a retail box.
If I change the current retail product key on my current installation of Win 7 Pro with the OEM product code, is the original retail code disabled or just deactivated? Will I be able to use the original retail product key on a future installation? I have
a few days to return the mislabeled Win 7 Pro OEM version, and then look to buy a Win 7 Pro retail version (a few of these left).
Note my current system is one I assembled myself from components I bought from various stores (motherboard, processor, video card, sound card, disk drives, case, fans, ... ).

In another post, Mulderator says "as long as you have your original CD and product code" referring to re-installing XP. I have years of experience with 98 and ME, but all this online validation stuff is new to me and has me confused.

I bought several refurbished machines each with a new copy of XP pre-installed. Not much in the way of restore, rescue, or re-install disks though. So I bought a new Windows Home XP CD.

So now I have several machines, each with a shiny new "Certificate of Authenticity" sticker on the back, with what I would call the COA number on it. And I received another COA sticker with my new XP CD.

Is this COA number what is meant by "product code"?

More specifically, can I use the new XP CD to re-install XP on a misbehaving refurbished machine. Does the COA on the back of the machine identify the OS installed on the machine, and as such I should be able to use my new XP CD to re-install XP on the other machines (each has its own paid-for COA sticker)?

I have paid Microsoft many times for XP, I am not trying to bootleg anything here.

A:Product code?

From my experience, if the COA includes a valid XP product key (a 25-character string in five sets of five), you SHOULD be able to install XP from any CD and just use that key when prompted for it. The only limitation is that the key has to be for the same version of XP (home/pro/MCE) that you're installing; in other words, an XP Home key won't work if you're installing from an XP Pro CD.

The other thing you have to watch for is that MS will only let you Activate with a particular key a set number of times, after which you need to call MS and have them reset the activation for that key.

I purchased a used computer and was given what appears to be a genuine microsoft windows 7 disc. They did not give me the package it came in with the registration code. Most are saying that I will have to repurchase a new windows 7 with validation code. Some say I can contact Microsoft and at a smaller fee, get the validation code. Bassically, turn computer on, go to my computer, insert windows 7 disc, go to explore, click on sources, and locate product. Which I did. Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Several years ago I installed Microsoft Office XP.
At the time of installation I was asked to type in the Key Code which consisted of 25characters.
This "Key Code" was on the box the software came in.
I put the software CD in a jewel case.
Unfortunetely a few years ago I suffered a house fire that just about destroyed everything from water damage and the software box got water logged and ruined.
I now have no way of knowing what the "Key Code" for the software is so I can reinstall it on another computer.

My question is... was there any place this Key Code was stored in the hard drive during installation ??
I have been going out of my "trees" trying to figure it out.
If one of you "Pro's" can help it will be very much appreciated.
The full program is Microsoft Office XP.
Thank you for your time.

The key code is linked to a VERSION of Windows XP, Home, Home Premium, Pro and etc, and if a OEM version, then it nees to be the one from the OEM.

I have several Windows 7 computers which I am upgrading to Windows 10. I have Windows 10 on disc.

I use Speccy to look at the Serial Number/Product Code. It doesn't matter what computer I upgrade, or if it is an Upgrade or a clean install, I end up with the Product Code being the same on all the Windows 10 computers. I am 100% certain that I did not enter the Product Code on any computers except the first one, which happened to be my daughter's computer. It is that Product Code which is showing on all subsequent installs. It doesn't matter if I use my disc or if I download from Microsoft.

Logically, it cannot be an error on Speccy's reporting.

I can't understand how this could be happening. Also, I am concerned that MS could look at my computers and say the computers have to have unique Product Codes. They did, but not now.

Can someone explain what is going on?

A:Product code duplicating

First of all, are you talking about Product Keys? If you upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7/8/8.1 every upgrade gets the same Product Key, the generic product key for that version of Windows. Every Windows 10 Home from an upgrade will get the same generic product key. Every Windows 10 Pro from an upgrade will get the same generic product key, etc.

Your entitlement/license for Windows is based upon the Installation ID and the Product Key is only one element of the Installation ID. The Installation ID is a combination of the Hardware ID - which uniquely identifies your computer based on motherboard information, the Product ID - which identifies which version of Windows you have installed, and the Product Key - which identifies the basis for activating Windows (Retail, OEM, Upgrade, Volume License, etc.).

It is the Hardware ID that identifies each unique computer, not the product key - and that makes the Installation ID unique to each computer even thought the version of Windows 10 is the same (Product ID) and the basis for Windows activation is the same (Product Key indicating an upgrade).

If you do a clean install on the same computer after an upgrade - Windows 10 will calculate the same Hardware ID if the motherboard is the same, the Product ID will be the same if you installed the same version of Windows 10, and if you skip entering a Product Key then the same generic product key will automatically be used. This results in the same Installation ID for that c... Read more

2 years ago (August 2010), I had a desktop tower computer, which I installed Windows 7 onto. It worked fine for a bit... then died. I never had a chance to uninstall Windows 7, because the 4 year old machine just spazzed out and died. Today, I found the install disk for Windows 7. I decided to install it onto an old laptop I had (A Lenovo 3000 n200), but the problem was that I could not find the product code. It was the same code used to install Win 7 onto to old desktop, now dumped, and to my surprise, it worked.
Now for my question.
Did this happen because Microsoft did something about the product code because the computer it was on died, or did it happen because I was lucky? And if I was lucky, can I call Microsoft and tell them what happened in order to make my laptop's Win 7 truly legit?

TIA.

A:Possible product code glitch.

If it's a retail version of Windows 7, it's legit.

There is no explicit deactivation. I suppose that the activation server resets in time, just as for Windows XP. If it hadn't reset, telephone activation would have been required.

As far as I know, with one key you can activate either 32-bit or 64-bit Seven. I mean, a normal retail pack comes with both disks but only one key. it's then up yo customer to decide which version to install and activate with that key.

To create a new listing, I need a unique product code for the desktop computer. I'm looking to get the Universal Product Code (UPC). A UPC is the barcode that would be scanned at the point of sale when someone buys something. I have a few other computers I'm trying to sell, and on Toshiba's website the very first manual that I open for a laptop shows me the UPC. HP's manuals don't. I've tried calling customer service. And both times I either got hung up on or disconnected. It's very frustrating because I have a very basic question, and to no avail have I gotten an answer yet. If anybody can find the UPC for the HP Pavilion a6230n, and tell me how to get UPCs for HP products in the future, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

New here so if I am in the wrong place, please re route my plea for help to the right place...

I have a problem which requires my product key for Office10 which was installed with my XPS8300 computer when I purchased it some four years ago. Can anyone please tell me how to get at it, do I have to contact and office at Dell or is available somewhere on screen via the programme please??

An early reply would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Ron

If you purchased it with the unit you have to find the MPI (microsoft product Identifer) card,
Otherwise you have to buy office over again.  The key is on the card and Dell will not re-issue a key if you lost the MPI card.

I was trying to reload NT onto a computer. When I got to product code, I could not find it. The computer will not let me exit the screen and go back to what I had before. Is there any way to get rid of set-up or find a lost product code? Thank You!

A:Lost product code for NT

if it is a microsoft cd, have you tried all 1s? all 111-111111 should work.

if it is an oem version use this to create one...

if ProductID is for an OEM version of WINDOWS NT the algorithm
; for the PID is: xxxyy-OEM-0000016-zzzzz
;
; x = Julian calendar date for the day
; y = The current year (last two digits)
; z = Any numeric combination you want

i have to reinstall XP on my computer, and i have the disk, it says that i need to have my product key code. well the problem is that my computer has 2. there is the one on the Microsoft product tag. but also when XP was running i used The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder
and it said that i had a completely different key code, and i also confirmed this with another program. so is the tag on my computer the correct one, or is the one i got from the OEM operating system the correct one. if it helps im using a dell, i know from the past they are well.. "different" in some ways.

A:Solved: Wix XP product key code

If you're using the OEM Dell OS reinstallation CD, it won't ask for the key code.

When I try to enter the product code I keep getting a message saying that it is not valid. I do not have anything else to enter beside the code I was given. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

A:25 character product code

The Vista product code should be on a sticker on the side of the PC or on the sticker that came with the DVD in the Box from MS. If it does not work you're going to have to call the retailer or MS.
