I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello. I have a new Compaq CQ58-353EM laptop. It came with preinstalled system (Windows 8). Afterwards I installed Windows and HP updates. The problem I have is with the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (ethernet). In the device manager it is shown with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. In the device state it is stated: Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35). Laptop has all system and hp updates installed. I tried the following to resolve the problem:- 2 different bios versions (F.26 and F.25).- several add/remove/reinstall of the Realtek drivers- 2 different versions of Realtek drivers: 8.3.730.2012 and 8.20.815.2013 (from Realtek site). Ethernet is working OK under Ubuntu. Any suggestions or solutions to the problem?

I'm running windows 10 on an HP Omen and after most recent windows update, my computers internal speakers are unavailable, as are any wired connected audio devices. Sound icon says no speakers or headphones are plugged in. Device manager, under sound, video, and game controllers does not show realtek HD audio. This only appears when I go to view and select show hidden devices. Then, under properties, I can see Code 45 (hardware device not connected. To fix, reconnect). I have attempted driver fixes including driver version Troubleshooters for audio detected nothing. I have tried rolling back the windows update.

I cannot find any sites that recommend steps beyond checking driver for the device. I've also tried calling HP tech support twice, and both times representatives told me they needed more time to find a solution (which they have failed to do).

Anyone who has dealt with this issue or has thoughts, any advice appreciated.

Hey guys! This is my first post and I hope I can get some help!
A few days ago, I set up my desktop and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro. Of course, I had to get all my drivers manually, and I did. Everything was all fine and dandy until I realised that I had no sound. so searching I went until I found the driver I needed: Realtek AC'97 Audio. So I restarted and figured I would have sound. That was not the case. So I went into Device Manager and found a black exclaimation mark in a yellow bubble on my sound driver. I right-clicked it and went to "Properties". In the text box it said: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"! I cannot seem to fix this issue! I went to RealTek and downloaded them. I went to Asus but could not find the drivers for my model (I am not 100% certain but I think I have a Pundit-S)

I don't know what's wrong with this.I have no sound for anything. and even when I try to stream videos in the internet, the video automatically pauses for about every 12 seconds.

I don't know what to do but I think you guys can help me.
I also have a Realtek AC'97 audio for VIA(R) audio controller. I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3. My motherboard is VIA VT8237R plus.

I'm having the same problem:
Device cannot start( code 10)

I also tried to install that vinyl_v700b
but every time the installation starts, my conputer tends to restart. That's why I can't install that one.
what's wrong? Can you guys please tell me what to do?
thnx. I cant really watch videos nor play music files.

Thanks again.

A:Realtek AC'97 audio controller not working -- error (code 10)

Apart from the audio driver, it is critical to have the right chipset driver installed. The VIA southbridge needs to work properly to interface with the vinyl audio processor.
So try installing the chipset driver first, and then the audio driver. And of course make sure all MS updates are installed, including the MS UAA driver.

A:Realtek ac'97 audio drive not working, error code 10

No sound?

Try the simple things first. Speakers on and working? Plug them into a MP3 player, test that they actually amplify. Speaker plug in the correct socket in the PC? ( I mean not the Mic socket?) Have you looked in 'Device Manager' for a yellow warning by the entry for your sound option? Assume you know all the above, it's most likely still to be the wrong drivers. Go into 'Device Manager' and uninstall any sound drivers. Then go to www.drivereasy.com and download their free program, scan your PC and you will get the right driver I would think. You might also find a few other drivers out of date too. And NO it doesn't cost you to use that program. Hope this helps.

Hope someone can help me out with my audio problems...

I have an ASUS A54C laptop less than a month old.
-Windows 7, service pack 1.
64 bit.

About a week ago Asus live update automatically installed some updates (I didn't realise I could disable auto update, still getting used to this laptop)
when it restarted a few errors kept popping up and the webcam was not working. After googling I came across forum posts saying you have to manually download the drivers from the website. After doing that the webcam software showed a message "no audio device found" I thought ok, no problem I'll just re-install the audio driver (I had done this a few weeks previously because the built in mic was acting up).

The first half of installation completed, laptop restarted but then gave me the following error when trying to complete the second half:

Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!
[Error Code: 0x00000002]

Things I've already tried:
-I have tried several times to install the audio driver
-Tried installing different versions
- downloading directly from realtek
-System restore a couple times but it failed.
-Updated the BIOS (although I have no idea what this actually does)

I don't know what else to do.
Please help!

I have been trying to help my friend reinstall Windows XP on his Gateway 6520GZ and after a full reformat and reinstall the sound is not working. I first tried downloading all of the support drivers from the Gateway website, but no luck there. I have been searching on all sorts of forums and found several different solutions that other people found that did not work.

I have tried multiple Realtek AC'97 codecs (WDM_A404 and WDM_R186) which were both suggested on one forum or another. I believe that the computer has a realtek chip from what I could find, but I'm not positive. One of these actually installed, but the problem is that when I try to install the Conexant AC-Link Audio driver (Conexant_Audio_6.14.10.0565) I get a message saying that the device cannot start [code 10]. Currently in the device manager I can see the "Realtek AC'97 Audio" driver, but there is an exclamation point next to it. I am at a complete loss at this point and open to any help I can get. Anything would really be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,

I am completely stumped by this problem. I will do my best to explain it and see what you fine folks can do.

I had an older bluetooth dongle, off-brand model, 2010-2011 year, that I installed on my new desktop computer. It worked, but sound quality on my Sony Dr-BT101 headset wasn't great. It worked well with my bluetooth-enabled phones and tablets, so I suspected the dongle. I bought a CSR8510 dongle, which came with a CSR Cambridge Radio Harmony software stack. I installed the software, and turned on the headset, paired it, but no sound came out of the headset. I went to Sound, saw no entries. Went to device managers and saw the parts in yellow. I tried to update the driver but all I got was Code 18 error and this weird message in the picture. I clicked on properties and saw this message.

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

I am stumped. I've tried uninstalling, re-installing, installing other Bluetooth drivers, waving a magic wand, none of it has worked. I'm thinking it's a problem with the Registry, but I am not sure how to proceed.

Any ideas?

Hi,I accidently bent a capacitor on my X-Fi sound card while I was replacing my motherboard since the chipset messed up, and there's no sound coming out of my speakers, yet the sound card is still detected. Anyways, I'd like to use my new motherboard's integrated sound card, however the driver won't install. I get the error code "-5009 : 0x80040707". I used to have the same Realtek sound card on my older motherboard, but I uninstalled the driver for it once I got my X-Fi. I'm guessing the uninstallation wasn't completely successful, perhaps there are still some Realtek driver files that's causing a conflict with installing the driver. I tried installing the Realtek driver from the motherboard CD and from Realtek's website, but they both get the same error code.Is there any way I could fix this without reinstalling Windows XP?UPDATE:Ugh, I just found out that the Realtek soundcard drivers most likely don't have anything to do with this error.I'm getting it in "FEARCOMBAT" as well. Can a moderator please move this thread to the proper section?

My motherboard is ASUS P8P67-M Pro. The manufacturer doesn't mention any drivers for Windows 10 x64 on their website as you can see here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67M_PRO/HelpDesk_Download/ I tried to use Windows 8.1 x64 drivers, Windows 8 x64 drivers and Windows 7 x64 drivers. None of them worked. I even tried to download drivers directly from Realtek website, it didn't work as well. I am pretty sure the drivers should be fine and work, but I think there is a problem with my operating system. I remember in the past I tried to install printer drivers and I had issues as well (while it worked fine on another PC, only this PC had issues installing the driver) and I also have problem installing the new feature update (Windows 1703), it always ends up with an error, so I can't update to this version as well.
I don't know what to do and I was thinking about re-installing windows, but it is very time consuming for me and I prefer a short solution to resolve this.
Is there any chance someone has any idea how to resolve this problem?
Thank you

I installed the Realtek HD audio driver from the ASUS download site (P8Z68-V Pro MB) and all was well until I installed an MSI 560TI video card and let it install the Nvidia HD Audio drivers. The problem I have been chasing ever since was the Realtek HD Audio Manager popping up after the system exited extended sleep state (overnight). After much trial and tribulation and several Google Searches I concluded that the Realtek/ASUS HD Audio driver was conflicting with the Nvidia driver(s).

I did what suggested on one of the sites and that was to delete the Realtek HD Audio drivers and just let W7 install the default Microsoft drivers. Problem gone! Now I am curious, what did I give up and if I install the latest Realtek driver for W7 64-bit (v267) from the Realtek site will the Nvidia conflict return?

A:ASUS/Realtek, Latest Realtek versus default W7 Audio driver

Generally the Microsoft installed HD Audio Codec does not have all the features the motherboard vendor's sound drivers do. In most cases the actual driver is preferred and should be installed instead of the generic HD Audio Code drivers.

The NVIDIA driver is for the Video and the build in audio for HDMI audio. It should not be interferring with the PC's sound and in this case Realtek. I would uninstall the Microsoft drivers and reinstall the RealTek and see if you still have the problem. Generally a driver causes problems when exiting from sleep mode. Actually on "extended" sleep mode of overnight its really better to just shut down the system and then reboot in the morning. If you want it to be operational when you wake up, the BIOS should have an option for auto power on at whatever time you set.

I installed Windows 8 Enterprise today for testing purposes, I did it for my father too, and I was happy seeing, how well it works. So I did the same on my PC too, but I have one serious problem. I can't install the audio driver at all!

When I try to install it starts installing it, it copies the files of the control panel, and at the end I got error 0xE0000247.

I was "googleing" this error message, and everything I found was related to Windows XP SP3 or other Windows versions, so it wasn't helpful.
So here is the list I tried:

-run the installer in compatibility mode (the driver itself is marked as Windows 8 x64 compatible, but I gave it a try).

-try to install the driver via device manager, it didn't work, once my PC restarted. I must note, there are TWO High Definition Audio device in device manager, I guess, one of them is the videocard's HDMI driver. I installed ATI driver, -I expected, one of them will change, but both of them are still the same.

-I removed the drivers, reset computer, drivers installed back automatically.

-Removed the drivers, reset PC, start the installer. No error this time! But nothing happened. It was looking like a successful installation (compatibility mode was disabled on the installer), I could choose restart now or restart later, so it was looking good. But on taskbar, the speaker icon had that white cross in red circle mark. (I removed the two drivers, so that was because of that, but if the driver was really installed, it sho... Read more

So, for preparation for the new warhammer: age of reckoning I purchased a new video card to bring my specs up to run the game nice.

I got a Geforce 8600GT 512mb 128-bit DDR3 card. Im gonna run down what I did.

1. switched the cards
2. logged on, there was a automatic software update, and Installed the drivers as well off the CD (like a nub) and also a service package for vista came up for the drivers for the new card.
3. I was unable to log into any game due to a insufficient card, so I went and checked the card in Device Manager. Sure enough a Code 19 error: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.

things i've tried: Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling drivers from the producer of the card (ASUS) and the card developer (nVidia) in both safe mode and regular mode. Ive system restored to the last time the registry was configured correctly, ran a registry defrag and scan, system repair with the hardrive, and I've also swapped my old card back in and it has the same error.

So me and my friends came to the conclusion that it was a deep seeded problem with the drivers when I installed drivers for XP (we think thats what the CD was for) while I am running Vista. The problem is I dont know how to fix it...please help!

I just got an Epson flat bed scanner.I installed the cd like normal but my computer will not recognize it.In the device manager I get a Code 19 error in the driver property's.Anyone know what to do with this?

I have reinstalled the driver three times now.

I think I may have a problem with the USB root hub or host controller.I lost the ability to connect my Cannon camera as well lately.
I get the DUD USB chime.

Any thought on this?

A:[SOLVED] Code 19 Driver error

Code 19 means no or Incorrect driver installed. What is the model name and # of your Epson Scanner? With the scanner USB cable plugged in, Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager, if there are any devices with a yellow mark, or if under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, if there is an Unknown Device, right click it and Uninstall it. Now unplug the USB cable from the computer end and restart the computer. Once the computer comes up, make sure the Power Adapter is attached to the scanner and it is the correct one (an incorrect Power Adapter will cause this problem) Plug the power adapter into the Wall Socket and not into a surge protector or extension cord, as this diminishes the power. Plug the USB cable into the Back USB port of the computer not the front or through a Hub as these ports are weaker. You should get a new hardware found wizard and it should find the driver you had installed. If that fails, uninstall it from the Device Manager, Unplug the USB and download the driver from the Epson site, once installed plug in the USB cable it should install the scanner.

Good Day! I am working with this pc which had problems on start up. It takes 10-15mins to boot up which is really gives us headaches. I removed unnecessary start up programs on msconfig, defrag, disk cleanup, virus scan, deleted the scanned worms, and fortunately the booting problem was fixed.

However, now i'm having problems on plugging my external hard drive, i'm going to create a new back up. it seems like it doesnt recognize my device. whenever i check device manager, it shows that my device is an unknown device and doesn't install the driver. I tried to auto search or manual search for the driver but gives me the error code 28.

I tried to search for fixes, same issues but all of them doesn't work for me. And one more thing, we also have a Brother printer/scanner. The problem with that is now it can only print, and the scan option doesnt show. Already tried to reinstall the drivers , now also gives me error upon installation. I also ended up trying to use Driver Pack solution to update my drivers, now all of them gives me error on updating. It only says to try to search web for drivers.

Now I believe it has something to do with drivers installation. Can somebody help me with this problem? I'm really getting frustrated now, been working with this for 3 days. And please don't tell me to reinstall my OS bec that is the last thing that we're trying to avoid.

A:How to fix driver installation, error code 28

Just keep in mind that in the case where a PC has been positively infected by malware that the system can be messed up so badly, often due to the cleanup, that a clean install is the only viable option.
Of course we all want to avoid the clean install due to the sheer size of the project (installing and configuring Windows is the easy part) so it makes sense to try some possible fixes, but at some point you have to realize the time spent trying to patch up a system could exceed the time needed for the clean install.
Set a time budget. When you exceed the budget it is time to bite the bullet.

You might start by trying a Repair Installation:
Repair Install

Or you could start by uninstalling any programs related to the problem devices, then uninstalling the problem devices, and then scanning the Windows registry and deleting any and all keys that contain the device name. Then finding and deleting any folders related to the device. You could do the devices all at once, or one at a time.
Reboot, then run CCleaner's registry cleaner to find any stragglers you missed.
Then reboot and start installing the devices again (clean).
This is an advanced method, only for folks who are experienced working with the registry. You can really mess things up if you don't know what you are doing.
If these do not work you may be stuck with the solution that cannot be named.

I recently had to reinstall my OS (Vista Home Premium/SP1). The process ran smoothly, as did the reinstallation of various apps & drivers. That is, until I unplugged the PS/2 keyboard & plugged in the USB keyboard.

The driver did not install & the keyboard stopped responding. Upon examining the Device Manager, I noticed that the listing(s)for the keyboard was marked with yellow exclamation points. The device status reads, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". This is also the case for the 'Terminal Server Keyboard Driver' entry under 'System Devices'.

Sooo....1) I uninstalled/deleted the corrupted driver files then (in Device Manager) went to update the drivers but this was the result: "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it."

2) Tried to rebuild the driver database by executing these commands in DOS while in the Windows Recovery Environment:

3) The keyboard is a Microsoft Media Center Remote Keyboard (it was part of my PC package) & did not come with a driver disc, so reinstalling the driver from a disc is not an option nor is trying to find it on the Web (since the keyboard doesn't work).

I should also mention that the PS/2 keyboard also does not work once the system boots.

My laptop got a trojan virus about a week ago, and by changing anti-viruses to Avast, I managed to sort out the viruses. Ran a boot scan, which again found some viruses and they were fixed. However, after that the display adaptor got this error. The drivers are up to date (I have installed new ones at least a million times now) but the driver still has this problem. I tried a system restore, which solved the problem but brought back the viruses. Fixed the viruses again, which brought back the problem.

The resolution is stuck on 1024x768 and the brightness is stuck on full. It doesn't recognise when I close the lid either.

I have tried a driver sweeper, registry cleaner, downloaded all the different forms of the driver available, tried uninstalling, reinstalling them, tried windows update. Running out of options really. Any advice?

I suspected I had a virus after my Logitech wireless keyboard EX110 stopped working and purchased a wired Microsoft Comfort curve 2000 usb keyboard. Now neither keyboards will work. In Device Manager, I noticed that the listing(s)for the keyboard was marked with yellow exclamation points. The device status reads, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".

I have gone into regedit and found the upperfilters and found PCTCore TfKbMon and kbdclass and deleted the first two and left Kbdclass

I uninstalledand reinstalled Logitech software and the logitech keyboard will still not work. I then uninstalled all logitech software (setpoint 2.4a) and re-booted. On start up the new hardware wizard says it has detected Logiteck PS/2 Keyboard (and not the Microsoft Curve 2000 which is plugged into a USB port) and there is a problem that it is not passed Windows logo testing and prompts to stop installation. How can this be? The new Hardware wizard appears and says 'there is a problem testing this hardware and is not digitally signed. When I click finish the new hardware wizard starts again and i recieve the same Logitech error message. Now I am caught is a viscious circle. In device driver, Logitech does not appear as a driver nor Curve 2000, instead are listed 2 unknown devices. When I unistalled these drivers and searched to update the driver it again installs 2 x unknown drivers.

2 windows updates ago, I had trouble uploading pictures from my digital camera.  It was fine before the update, and afterwards it wouldn't work.  I tried to update the driver.  MTP USB device driver is the one that was associated with it.  So I tried to update.  It gave error code 37.  I uninstalled the driver 3 times, and reinstalled.  It still isn't working.  This is a Canon digital camera.   Their site says I don't need any drivers.  I downloaded the newest version of their software.  The software works, but My Camera doesn't allow you to upload untransferred images anymore.  It doesn't even pop up.
After doing more checking I see that sfc /scannow might be good to run.  I ran it.  It found nothing.
I saw at one site, to do this:  I posted the link, but it won't show up on here in this forum.
Important: If a USB device is generating the Code 37 error, uninstall every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers hardware category in Device Manager as part of the driver reinstall. This includes any USB Mass Storage Device, USB Host Controller, and USB Root Hub.>>>  I am a little worried about doing this.  At least my computer is running right, at the moment, besides this error code 37.  I am afraid if I delete every device, then I might not get some to work, when I restart, and it reinstalls.  Is this the best method for fixing this prob... Which update(s?) caused this problem, and on which date were you last able to connect to the camera without problems?
Can you post a list of which updates you had on which date, and post the date when your camera was last able to connect properly and the date when you first plugged it in and found it didn't work?
Also are you able to get to the images on the camera by browsing for them from the file explorer, or is this a matter of the camera's own software not working AND the file explorer being unable to get at the cameras pictures and videos for you?
Would suggest NOT deleting any device from that list because I have a suspicion that some of them are NOT removable devices but actual parts of your computer which just happen to be connected to the rest of the computer by USB like methods. If my suspicions are correct there then you might damage your computer if certain ones of those devices were deleted. Would suggest leaving that list of USB devices as it is for the moment.

I have created a signed driver package using Macrovision Installshield for Vista x64. It installs without any errors. But when I connect the device(USB device), it says "driver may be corrupt or missing".
If I disable driver signing enforcement temporarily, it works fine.
I am unable to understand why it behaves this way, though I have signed the drivers.

A:Error code 39 on driver loading

I am also having the same problem. I have signed driver package from Microsoft WHQL targetted for xp, vista & windows 7 both 32 bit & 64 bit platforms.

The installer installs with out any error for all platforms. When i connect my device, it loads the driver for all platforms except Vista 64-bit system.

I am getting same error code 39. If I disable driver signing enforcement temporarily, it works fine and also it works fine If I manually install the driver from device manager by browsing to the INF file folder.

Did you get a chance to fix this issue either with Microsoft or by yourself>

I appreciate if you reply to my posy with any information you had with this issue.

I can't connect my Dell Laptop to my home wireless or wired network. It sees the Wireless network and connects but it never receives an IP address, so it can't access the Internet. I've tried uninstalling TCP/IP, the network cards and tried connecting directly to the cable modem without any luck. This PC worked fine before my wife took it on a trip. She says that the only thing she did was try to access a wireless network on her return trip. In researching the problem I tried deleting the WINSOCK & WINSOCK2 entries from the registries but it didn't help. My guess is that I have corrupted file somewhere. When doing a ipconfig, I get an IP 'Driver, error code 2" error. Me and 2 other techie friends spent several hours trying to fix the problem to no avail. Has anyone else run across this problem and how did you fix it?

So the problem starts where I get some kind of lines on my monitor while I get the error code 43.
I tried to install any type of drivers with ddu and all sort of that and no succed at all.
The thing is that at resolution 800x600 I don't get and kind of weird lines at all: https://i.imgur.com/jkoKaLY.jpg
Then if I try to raise the resolution this happens:
But if i make a ss through my pc the lines disappears:
The thing is that i tried to several monitors and it does the same and i don't think it's the gpu problem since at 800x600 it works

I have been having problems with my XP for over a week. Not only does the error message 'unable to connect IP driver, error code 2' come up upon an ping request, but the CD/DVD drivers have packed in. There are no yellow query markers next to these in the 'device' manager either. I have uninstalled the adaptor drivers for the ip error, this to avail.

Is it best to resort to a 'factory reset' ? If so does anyone know what the procedure is for this ? I attempted a System Restore with no joy, nothing, zilch.

G'Day Dulps, Welcome to TSF!

There are a couple of ways that might help you with this issue.

Method One: Remove the registry entry

Warning: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system.

Please Note: If you had installed multiple CD-writing software products on your computer, you need to uninstall the software products before you remove the registry keys.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

4. On the File menu, click Export.

5. In the File name box, type savedkey, and then click Save.

6. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

Note: If this data type is missing, go to Method 2.

7. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

8. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

Method 2: Replace the existing driver

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. If Control Panel is in Category view, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.

HP DV6500zCTO Notebook upgraded to Win 7
Suddenly a few days back the "aero" effects stopped working. I traced it back to an error on the graphics driver.
I have removed the driver, ram driver sweep to remove all traces, downloaded new version from Nvida, allowed Windows 7 Update to find driver and all continue to fail with the same error.
Was thinking of running "repair/Update" but I have SP1 installed and it won't run from DVD with SP1 installed.
