Lenovo T460S battery 2 is charging very slowly and battery 1 is not charging

Q: Lenovo T460S battery 2 is charging very slowly and battery 1 is not charging

Dear All,I have Lenovo Thinkpad T460S purchased almost a year ago. Today I suddenly faced problem in charging battery. Charger is plugged in and battery icon is showing "plugged in, charging" but actually it is charging very slowly. Normally battery is charged in one hour or so but today it took more than one hours to reach only 24% or so. Furthermore, soon after plugging in, battery icon shows "filling in process" for few seconds then stopped i.e no filling in process. Furthermore, after whole night charging, battery is now 94% charged, battery 2: 100% charged, fully charged; battery 1: 0% charged, not charging (please attached images). Please guide how to get rid of this problem?Thanking in advance. Shahid

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

So for the past two weeks or so I have noticed that my HP charges much more slowly than usual. It takes 3 hours to go from dead to full charge while using the computer...I would believe this to be normal while in use except that it has always done so in about half the time since I bought it in May 2015. Any reason as to why it has suddenly started taking so long to charge while in use?

One day while using my laptop, the battery of my laptop was about to drain completely so I plugged it in. But the battery was not charging. I changed the plug point thinking there was some problem with the socket but still it did not worked. I removed the battery, reinserted it and tried to charge again but the problem still presisted. Then I removed my battery and plugged in the laptop. The laptop was working fine. Keeping the laptop plugged in (laptop shut down) and reinserted the battery. The battery charged for a while then the power button and power light (in the front on the edge of the body) started blinking. Therefore, I removed my battery. So now I charge my battery by first plugging in the laptop (battery removed) and then reinserting the battery. The blinking poblem also occurs very often.  Also when the battery is attached to the laptop and I try to charge it the laptop does not powers up. Model: Lenovo B40

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

hello, I have a lenovo g50-45 laptop. It's a great laptop but recently I have been having a lot of trouble with the battery. Afew days ago, I started noticing that while the computer is plugged in to power, the battery always stays at 0%. It says that it is "charging" but it remains always at 0%. The Lenovo Energy Maneger says that "the battery is weak and needs to be replaced". I tried to do a "gauge reset" but it did not do anything. Under my laptop, the region under the power connection is very how while the battery is very cold.  I am not sure what's going on. Can anyone help? It is unique because it says that the laptop is 'charging' yet the battery always stays at 0% and does not actually charge. I suspect its the "Lenovo Energy Manager" that is preventing the battery from charging because it thinks that the battery needs to be replaced. I tried uninstalling the "Lenovo Energy Manager" but I am not sure how to do it. It does not show up in the list of programs in control panel. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Hello everyone!  My lenovo G40-30 would not charge and would not power on anymore. This is what happened, 4 days ago before the problem occured. I was about to shut my laptop down when new updates became available. Upon shutting down, the options were to Restart and update, Shutdown and update, and there was another one which I forgot. What I did was shutdown my laptop but it said do not close or turn off computer as it was updating. Because I was going home from school, I had to close my laptop and put it inside its bag. It was not opened until after 4 days.  When I opened it, it was still updating and after few minutes it said battery was low so I plugged in the charger. At first was charging fine. When it reached 60% it suddenly stopped charging. I unplugged the charger and used my laptop as usual. Again after just few minutes it again said battery low. When I plugged in the charger again, it won't charge anymore until the power went off.  Please help. What should I do? I badly need my laptop. Thanks!

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help

A:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Hi!My Yoga 500-15ISK Laptop seems to have a battery issue. For some time now, whenever I plug my laptop into the AC power, I get this message, e.g. "(% charge) available, (plugged in, charging)", however for some reason, the battery level actually stays the same even after a significant amount of time of being plugged in to the AC supply. Moreover, the battery icon initially shows the animated one which indicates charging is indeed in progress, then after a few moments, it will freeze on the estimated level. Before this, my laptop's battery usually charges relatively quickly. Also, I have not turned on the Conservation Mode so it must charged up beyond 50-60% especially if I leave it plugged in overnight. This issue is really bewildering me right now. Any comments or suggestions on how I can address this issue? Thanks!Other notes re my laptop:It's been around 10 months since I've bought it and I have encountered this issue only a few days ago.I have no other issues with it.

Okay, so my keyboard dock works fine. I restarted it once (paperclip method) after dying on me, but afterwards nothing was really wrong with it. Now, the tablet's battery is acting funny. At first, I thought it was just my keyboard dock not charging my tablet, so I detatched the keyboard, and the tablet completely shut off. Hi,

I have a Lenovo Z50-70 running Windows 8.1. The laptop is relatively new, bought in Jan. 2015.

Some time ago, the original battery suddenly started to have a problem where it would say 45% available, plugged in, not charging. No matter what fixes I tried (after looking through a lot of articles, posts, comments, etc.), nothing made the battery start charging again. It always stays at 45%. Also the battery light/indicator on the front of the laptop is always blinking white.

So I got a new battery, put it in hoping that it would work and charge up to 100%, but the new battery is having exactly the same problem as the original old one! It will only charge up to 45%, then it says plugged in not charging. The battery light is again always blinking white.

What do I do? How can this be fixed? What's going on?

Appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

check the warranty is still active, as thats one route you could take with a relatively new laptop.

also, try uninstalling the energy management and restart the system and check for the issue. also try uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI from the device manager and restart the system and check for the issue. for more info on this action see this thread in the link:

(no hibernating, no shutdown, just off)i have tried - Method A:Remove the AC and Battery from the laptopPress and hold the power button for 30 to 40 secondsReplace the battery and ACBoot the laptop up and check if the same message is still displayingIf same error still persist, try to uninstall Lenovo Energy Management, reboot then install the Energy Management software again. Method B:1.Open Lenovo Energy Management2.Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.3.Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset.4.That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle. Method C:1.Open Lenovo Energy Management2.Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.3.Under Battery Health, choose "Optimize For Battery Runtime" instead of "Optimize for Battery Lifespan".Note: The latter option will extend the lifespan of battery by limiting the charging capacity to be between 0-80%. as mentioned in another thread in this forum but none of them worked.  The Battery Gauge Reset didn't start.i am using win7 , and this battery is 4 year old .please help me out of this problem.

I read that charging battery to 70% instead of 100% can help save battery life. How do I enable this feature on Y700 Windows 10 laptop?

My wife just bought this laptop four days ago, she loves it.  Running Win 10 Home, 64bit, 32Gb SSD, 2Gb RAM.  The battery icon on the taskbar says " battery 95%, not charging".  What should I do to get it to register the 100% that it should be at?  Thanks for any and all help.Chris

A:Lenovo Idea Pad 110s battery "95% not charging"

Hi chrisalk13  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

For newer computers , preventing batteries to reach 100 % are buffer to prolong battery life.
Energy manager softwares  and BIOS smart battery technology would control this buffering.

Disabling such features and turning the power options to high performance from default conservation mode would allow it to reach 100 % .

Update us how it goes for you.

Regards

The thinkpad hasn't been used for nearly a year and two months since i purchased it from my friend. Lenovo Power Manager recongnized the battery for a few seconds then says:  Could not detect battery, please reinsert battery or recharge the battery. I applied double sided tape to the thinkpad battery so it wouldn't wobble. Still the same problem. Battery was purchased 2014-06-04.It is an aftermarket battery.

Hello, I got the Lenovo ideapad 110 near a month ago, I liked it a lot, until many problems started happening and it ticked me off a lot. The main problem with this computer is the battery life. I looked up what the average battery life for this computer was, it said approximately 3 to 4 hours. And it is hard to believe that because at fully charged, the battery life says it is 2 hours, but runs out quicker than that. The charging speed, I was at 0% with this computer, and it said that to be at fully charged, it would have to take nearly 3 hours! What??? I researched online if there was any way to replace a more long-lasting battery or to see if there are some ways to save/improve the battery life. What I got were ways to save more battery, but none of it worked, they don't make a difference. Lowering the brightness, probably only saves 5 minutes of your battery, and that's the most I could really do (out of all the ways showed in the support page), since I never use bluetooth, etc. Really need some help, would really appreciate some better ways to saving more of the battery, or if there is a way to replace the battery in this computer with a bigger life. But I strongly dislike the problems with most Lenovo computers, thinking of returning/exchaniging it. Thanks for your time.
