SDXC card compatibilty

Q: SDXC card compatibilty

I've been trying to find out whether my 2008 Acer Aspire 6930G (Vista SP2) laptop can read SDXC cards before I consider buying one but without success. Any help would really be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: SDXC card compatibilty

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, i have just bought a sandisk 64gb extreme pro sdxc memory card for my camera, it works fine in the camera and saves pics to it, but every time i open it in windows it tells me i have to format the card, when i do format it, it goes through the whole process and then tells me the operation cannot complete.

I know the card is formatted as exfat, does windows 7 not support this?

my laptop uses windows 7 64bit.

Can anyone please advise as i am not sure how i am going to get any pictures in the future onto my laptop.

I have a HP Stream 10" laptop with the standard Windows 10 Home image on the built-in eMMC. There is very little scope to shrink the windows partition enough to install linux along side on the same eMMc.  I have therefore purchased a 64GB micro SDXC card, inserted same into the micro SD slot and attempted to install Linux as follows: Distributions were Mageia 5 Live on USB and OpenSuse Tumbleweed on USB CD, using essentially the same approach. The existing UEFI partition was mounted as /boot/efi  in the partitioning setup in each case and nominated as the boot partition. Linux root, swap and home partitions were defined and formatted to ext4 with appropriate mount points on the second SD card. In each case, the relevant installer completed without errors.  However, on reboot, both cases immediately went into 'grub rescue' mode, listing a uuid that could not be found during the boot process. After issuing 'set' then following with ls on every item shown came up with 'Filesystem unknown'. Using the other approach, of booting a Linux live system, mounting installed directories, chroot and attempting to run grub-install ended up with an error message saying something to the effect of  'no corresponding BIOS disk for this device'. So, my first question is whether what I am attempting here can work at all. I know most UEFIs don't support booting from SD cards.  Here, I am attempting to use the relev... Read more

Hey Guys!

TL : DR: All files accessable but contain binary-gibberish

So I was at a friends place yesterday and he told me that his phone (sony xperia z5) crashed and woudn't restart until he removed the SDXC card (exFAT formated, 64GB). He tried to access his data from his PC (Windows 10) and wasn't able to do so.

So when I inserted his sd card in his PC It got recognized as an exFAT volume of correct size and showed all (as far as I can tell) data in a resonable size (nothing like, all mp3's are 4kb or so), but as soon as I opend a file (like photos or music) it said that it isn't a supported format. even file that should contain plaintext had not a single word in it and looked more like a binary opend in notepad. I opened one in mp3Diags and couldn't find a proper header or any mpeg stream. The filesystem seemed fine and I checked it with chkdsk. Even writing a new file to it works and is perfectly readable.

Does anyone knows what causes this and/or how to get on the data?

A:SDXC exFAT card files readable but corrupted

Sounds like the data was corrupted in some way, possibly malware or virus. But could just be a hardware glitch with the phone. Is a different card working in the phone?

Hello. I have recently got a Linx 10 windows tablet (Intel atom based), but it only has 32gb of storage of which 24gb is available. I recently purchased a Micro sdxc class 10 card (benchmarked at 25mb/s read/write on the Linx10 with crystaldisk), i was hoping to install applications on it where storage speed would be less critical. When i try to install programs on it such as visual studio it states that i cannot install it on removable media and steam does not list it as a drive. Is there anyway to make the tablet treat the micro sdxc as if it is an internal storage device so that i can use it like a hard drive? Or are there any other ways to make applications install onto it?

Thanks for any help,

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

A:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)
Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB
Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.
Hope this helps answer your query.

We had a workstation fail and I was looking at a used z420. I can't find a one piece of info that puts some light on cards that will work above and beyond the Quadra. We have a GTX 745 and GTX 750ti that we can use. Anybody have an idea what works? Thanks

A:Video Card Compatibilty for hp z420

Franklinm, welcome to the forum. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer.  On Page 33 it discusses, not the exact video cards, but the wattage that is supported.  The computer comes with either a 400W or 600W power supply unit (PSU).  This will make a difference in which cards will work.  Also, the two cards that you mention in your post both require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  You can check the BIOS to see if it is UEFI.  If it is, the cards should work from what I can see in the Guide. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi I have Lenovo IndeaCentre K210 system with 3GB RAM, 500G HD with the video adapter integrated in the Intel Chipset31/33.
I also have a Viewsonic VX2433 Model VS12324 monitor and the problem that I have is when I open some applications (like Taxcut), the lines on the display (screen), do not line up properly.
For example if there is a YES and NO box to be checked off, the YES box would line up next to the NO Box and the NO Box would line up under the NO box (next to nothing), instead of being next to the NO Box.

This is not only annoying but it is causing/creating problems especially when I work with with the Taxcut program becauses (with things not lined up properly), I am not sure where the correct entry should be made?
I updated the Viewsonic VX2433 driver and installed the most current Intel Chipset driver but the problem still continues.
I contacted Viewsonic and they advised me "the lining up of the boxes is coming not from the monitor but the incoming signal (video card issue)" so it appears that I may need to purchase a new video/graphics adapter and would appreciate your help.
My questions are:
- Do I really need a new video adaper?
- If so, WHAT video card would you suggest that I look at for a configuration of a Lenovo IdeaCentre K210 53134BU system with an integrated Intel Chipset31/33 (video adapter) and a Viewsonic display?

Thank you in advance for your help,

Hi and welcome to SF!
Yes, Windows 7 recognizes these formats natively, but I recommend that it be with the SP1 installed. As to whether your card reader will be able to read them, I'd say no - taking into account the age of your Dell. But if you can tell the model of card reader, I could tell with more certainty. Use Speccy - Download in case of not knowing what type of card reader. I look forward for your reply.

I've T420s, Ricoh PICe SDXC/MMC Host Controller, and several SD cards. Right away I can say that the cards (Kingston, Samsung, Transcend) are all right, tried them on different computer and phone, they work well, so I assume this is not a card issue. I never used Card reader extensively, so I can't say if it started lately or was always like that, my T420s is about 1 year old and I'm running Windows 7 32bit. Here is the problem. Device seems to be switching on and off all the time when the card is inserted or taken out. I can say this as I'm keeping device manager window open. It seems like the connection between card reader and motherboard (?) is very bad, as I have to press on the device to pop out and press it back in to appear in the list of devices. When I plug in the card, it might actually show up, but then, when I pop out the card and pop it back it, it won't show again. So I have to take out the device itself again to have a chance of accessing my card. I've tried updating the driver from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014960 But it  didn't help. I've seen this: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/SD-Card-reader-not-working-Code-22-ThinkPad... But even if the device appears under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there is no "Ricoh SD Disk Device" under "Disk Drives" most of the times when I insert cards. Anyone had similar issues?

A:Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller is working porrly with cards, T420s

Hi, answer42
I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date. If the BIOS is not up to date, the motherboard may not be fully recognizing when a card is present in the port. The latest BIOS for your machine is 1.35, and you can find that here. So definitely make sure the BIOS is up to date and see if that helps the issue.
Hope it helps,

Try running a cd lense cleaner through your car`s cd player and see if that helps.

If it's the same version - DDR2 than maybe. You need to see what your owners manual say about using different densities - 2GB modules mixed with 256MB modules.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it, with those modules being so low (256MB) I'd just as soon get a 1 or 2gig module and go with that.

I am looking for a laptop for my husband for Christmas. He will do work on it but also likes to play LFD2 and Dragon Age. I can only afford about $500, but i think I have found a good laptop. However I cant decipher if the video card will be sufficient. The merchant only has the name of the video card Mobilty Radeon HD 4250 listed under the specs. I have checked several websites including Radeon manufacturer but am a bit frustrated as I dont understand how to relate it to the games he would like to play. I dont want to have to keep asking the kind people here at techspot,"Will this one work?" Is there a tutorial that I can read to understand how to tell if a laptop will suit his video needs? I just tried to replace my mouse with an hp mouse that i found laying around. I had to buy a usb adapter to connect it to my Acer laptop (Aspire 5630-6288). My laptop is not recognizing the mouse in the device manager which makes me think that the hp mouse is just not compatible with my Acer laptop, as I know that some companies have proprietry parts. ( I probably spelled that wrong) Can someone confirm this, or am I just doing something wrong?

Currently I'am using Spybot S&D together with Avira. Are they compatibe with Spywareblaster or SpywareGuard? Should I replace Spybot S&D? Which application would be better that does not delete even my eyebrows? I am a little concerned (for what I am reading Cookiegal most innteresting 2003's advices), because a short while ago, today, I got several warns and detections after running Avira (I run Spybot weekly). I had Spywareblaster that felt as very good but repleaced it for more complex ones as named above. I would appreciate any advice at this respect. Greetings.

i am thinking of buying my friends computer, which is pretty good, and i was wondering if i could put a video card i already own in it. It has an ATI Radeon 8800 Pro, and i have a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500. Could i put them both in the computer and connect them, or do i have to choose?

A:Compatibilty of Video Cards

You can put them both in,but you can only use one at a time, unless your configure them for DUAL MONITORS

To use two together, they have to be SLI/Crossfire cards/motherboards.HERE

Hello, i wanted to buy the E8400 CPU but finding out that my ASUS P5V-VM SE HD motherboard was not compatible got me looking for a new Motherboard. I am on a tight budget so i want for nothing too flashy,

I was just wondering and doubtfull about getting it, i dont know why just was. I looked and read about it, its not too bad of a board and obvoiusly cheap, but more importantly compatible with 45nm chips.

I know it says it is compatible with DDR2 but is that any type of DDR2 memory in the world? or does it have to be specific. sounds stupid i know but i didnt want to buy the board and then find out that i needed new RAM.

Also my PSU its a Hiper Global award winning PSU i got down the computer fair, so its not a cheap PSU but, its only 530W. Will i be needing a stronger one? I have E6600 CPU, 8800GT, 4GB OCZ 800 RAM at the moment but will this new MB and CPU the E8400 need more wattage?

Also if you could answer this also.
Overclocking the CPU, do you have to do it in the BIOS? or can you do it diffrently? which way would you suggest if there is a diffrent way.

Old PC died. HD is fine. New PC on the way.

The old HD was partitioned as a C and D drive on old system. There was XP on both partitions for some reason.

New PC no doubt will have XP on its C drive.

So, if I get one of those external enclosures that make a standard HD a USB mass storage device how will the old HD appear on the new PC. Will XP just assign the two partitions the next avail letters?

I only need this to work well enough to get the data onto the new PC.

Then I think I'll use the HD/USB as a backup system.

Any recommendations for the USB/HD enclosure? I've seen them for $30 to $40.

yes, they will be assigned the next letters after any optical drives (not after your internal hard drive)

Does anyone know which email apps are suitable for Windows 7 and compatible with Gmail Security?
The reason I ask is that today having followed through a security check on Google I found my Gmail would not load in Windows Live Mail 2011. I updated WLM to 2012 but the same issue. The only way I can get my Gmail to load in my Windows Email App is to opt out of Gmail security.
Surely there must be a simple answer to this although having looked through the internet it has not shown itself to me.
Thanks in anticipation
