I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

A few days ago, my dad had actually tried (accidentally) to change the language to Hungarian and the Keyboard setting for it which means that the keys in my US keyboard won't be correct. The thing is, I've changed every setting back to US English, but the Hungarian one keeps going back (only the keyboard setting). So I have to go to that other administrator user to change it to US for me to type my password for the main user correctly. To be specific about the setting, it's in:
Control Panel -> Date, Time, Language and Regional Options -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages Tab -> Details... -> Settings Tab -> Installed services box ---- There, the Hungarian keyboard setting appears again when I reboot my computer.

Thanks,

Hi All,

I was given a laptop to clean up by someone at work and whilst typing some text I found that the keyboard was set to English (US). I went into the Regional Language Options in CP and changed the Regional Settings and Location to UK under the Languages -> Details menu I added UK English as default and removed the US option.

The problem is, everytime I close down the window, it resets back to US English! I go back into the setting and US English is displayed in the Languages->Details menu and UK has been removed!

Why could this be?

I have removed any viruses and threats, but still no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

first off, install the OS. Then see if you can change it in keyboard settings. Try setting the keyboard to a French layout, instead of the default USA.

Hello,

First sorry I don't speak well English.
I have a problem with my PC model: http://www.toshiba.fr/discontinued-p...ite-c55-a-15e/
The keyboard doesn't work and I want to change it.

I have two questions:

1- I searched but did not find where I can buy the keyboard.

2- There is not a French Azerty on my PC. Maybe belgium Azerty or other??? I don't know.
Is it possible to change the version of the keyboard.

Hi, I recently purchased a Pavilion 15-bc203nd. This notebook has a AZERTY keyboard. This keyboard however has a strange/wrong layout compared to a normal azerty key board: a right CTL key is missing, the < key is on the wrong place, my return key is too small etc. See this picture as comparison:   Is it possible to get a notebook with a correct AZERTY keyboard, or is this just the way it is with HP notebooks and should I return it? Kind regards.

Brandnew HP Envy x360 with Belgian azerty keyboard The key 2 positions right to the spacebar, marked as <>\ does not generate those values, but generates the code for the CTRL key instead. This can not be a virus or other issue, as this is a "just out of the box" fresh system. I really suspect a "Bug" here in the testing of the azerty layout for this particular model The keyboard driver layout is the standard one provided with the OS by microsoft, called "Belgian Azerty decimal point"The operatings system is on the latest patch levelThe HP drivers are on the latest patch level I guess this must be declared as "a problem" and not an "incident" Cheers,Stefan

Hello All,
Please understand the scenario.

"We are developing a web based software that is used in FleetServices to process some driver and vehicle files, that contains activities (like driving, rest etc.). So the problem is that when i got a (driver/vehicle) file in German language and i try to transfer it to server, it fails if my regional setting is set to Greek Language. But i am able to transfer (driver/vehicle) file if my OS's Regional setting is other than Greek."

So my question is that why German language is not supported by operating system only if my regional setting is Greek (it is working fine if regional setting is other than Greek).

Is there a bug in Windows XP or Visual Studio 8 or we are doing something wrong.

If there German language is not supported by Greek OS then please refer my some url where such information is available which clearly speaks that this scenario is not at all supported. If it is supported then please tell me how to support it.

I would be very-very thankful to you.

It sounds like you are using a laptop (always best to explain the computer type, it makes help easier)

The problems you describe simply indicate that "Numlock" is acive for the keyboard, where those keys are dula use as a number pad.

Without knowing the hardware the best I can suggest it that you use the Fn key plus F5 or whatever the assigned key is to toggle the Numlock function.

Hey guys.

I remember removing other language settings from my laptop, but for some reason CH (Taiwan) still remains:

How do I remove it? There is no "language pack" to uninstall. I cannot "change display language" because that section is not even there. As you can see from the screenshot even the keyboard only retains the default English (US).

No apparent related search results from google. Found something in the registry, although I have no idea how it is related. There is a key named HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Font Management\Auto Activation Languages which shows what appears to be the two languages available (EN US and CH TW):

Searching for Auto Activation Languages has been similarly futile. Anyone know how to remove the second one and leave only the default English (US)? For what it's worth, this laptop was apparently manufactured in China so it's possibly some preinstalled language thing. However, nothing shows up in Control Panel programs to be uninstalled. I can only see the option in the language bar as well as in the topleft corner of the login screen (it's a button labelled "EN" so I suspect it's just the language bar again). Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello Everyone,
As I travel to the north on regular occasions, I bought a Lenovo G585 laptop in Spain, where I live. It had W.7.Home Premium installed in Spanish.
I have now upgraded it with the free installation of W.10.
As with all things downloaded in Spain, there is rarely a choice to obtain the download in English.
After the download I found a way to change the language into English.
That done, the keyboard no longer responded correctly!
I am also not able to use the search facility Cortana as it is unavailable in Spain.
Is there any way that I can have the W10 OS language in English AND make the keyboard respond to its designed (Spanish) keys?

(I am writing this on my desktop which has W7 Ultimate in English installed!)

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Regards,

Colinito.

A:Problem with setting English language

Yes you can and it is the same as in 7 if I remember correctly.

Search for Language in Control Panel. Click on Options in the English Language.

On Input Method click on Add Input Method and scroll down the list until you find Spanish. Then remove English.

This only affects your keyboard - no other regional or language settings are affected.

For Cortana to work you need your language, region and speech have to be the same - it doesn't care about the keyboard. If your language is US English you'll need to make sure you set your region to US as well. As region affects things like search results and news I leave mine where I am and don't use Cortana but it is up to you - I've just not found a use for it yet.

As I bought my laptop when I was living abroad, it has an American (I suppose) style keyboard, where (for example) the number keys 1 to 5 in Caps are marked (and produce the symbols) ! @ # $ %. Given that the laptop sits on the desk mostly, I find it a lot easier when doing emails or whatever to use a USB keyboard on my lap, but this has a UK layout, where the same keys in Caps are marked ! " ? $ % ... but produce the same symbols as the first example (laptop's own keyboard).

I don't suppose there is any way to get Windows to recognise the two different keyboard layouts, so that the USB one produces the symbols depicted on the keys? Can I remap it without affecting the laptop one? Can't work out how, if so.

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

We are trying to create a Windows 8.1 image and have been having a little trouble with the language settings after running sysprep.exe with an unattend.xml file. Everything is working how we want it to work except the language settings after oobe has run etc.

The sysprep command we run is: sysprep.exe /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:unattend.xml

Before running sysprep we are setting the language settings to have English (Australia) as the preferred langauge with the Date, time and number formatting.

After sysprep / oobe etc has been run it is changing it to English (US) as the preferred language with the Date, time and number formatting.

It seems that it is only when I login with the local user account that I used to setup the image (the one that gets copied to default user) that has the incorrect language settings. If I login with a new user account it has the correct settings.

I'm wondering if this has something to do with running 'Sysprep.exe' using that user account and whether that changes the language settings for that account? If anyone could explain why this might be I would be very interested!

In this tutorial How to Turn the Desktop Language Bar On or Off in Windows 8 and 8.1 Shawn Brink explains how to turn on/off the language bar in Windows 8.1. Step 8 of the tutorial shows us how to set Windows to use the classic Desktop Language Bar instead of the Metro version of the Language Bar.

I was wondering if there is a way to toggle this setting for all users on the computer using the registry or Group Policy. I work for a school, and our Language Lab needs to use the Desktop version of the Language Bar because the Metro version does not have any of the advanced options of the Chinese Simplified Pin-Yin IME. That or I need a way to turn off the Auto Adjust setting of the Chinese Simplified Pin-Yin IME.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I recently did a re-install of my windows xp, using winnt32.exe in my I386 folder. I noticed my problem at that point. I then restored a backup copy of my computer, and then did a system restore. The issue remained. In virtually EVERY folder one of the sub-folders is in a second language, which I have identified to be Slovak/Czech. As an example, every music and picture file has a "vseobecne" tab before the "summary" tab, every main file has a "zdiel'anie" tab between the "general" and "customize" tabs. Within these tabs, some of the writing is all foreign (vseobence), some mixed (zdiel'anie). It even changed my windows firewall folder in the control panel totally to this language, and added a few new control panel folders for the fun of it. I'm hoping someone has a registry change or other suggestion that will fix this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello to all,

I have just set up gmail account in windows 10 mail app. It looks great but immediately I noticed something that annoys me.
I cannot figure out how to set up default language proofing? Fr example I live in Europe and I have set up my default keyboard and location to match my country, bu because of my job I have to write a lot of emails in English and in German.
I found that it is not possible to switch to language when writing email. For example, when I create new email and choose language in the upper part, immediately when I start typing it switches back to default language layout. This setting is simply not remembered. So when I type almost all words are red - underlined

Right now the only way is to finish writing the complete email, then select all and chose to for example English language, and then proofing tool shows typos. Basically this way it takes me more time writing email in windows mail app comparing to gmail web.

Does anyone have similar issue?

I have Vista Ultimate installed, UK language. I then installed the language pack for Danish. After reboot the language had changed. Then I changed it back to English and logged out.

When I logged in again my font has changed, it's bold and it's italic.

How do I get everything back to default? And why in the world would a language pack change my default font settings?

Kind Regards,
Thomas

I guess I'll just have to re-install Windows.

Welcome to Seven Forums Dowan.

Very odd indeed. Do you/have you another Language Pack installed? Does this Klingon show up elsewhere?
What is your OS, 64 isn't very descriptive.

Hi Heather

Your answer is likely to be in here:

I just noticed that the link above does not include Windows 7 - sorry!

I have UK and US installed. Basically I want to uninstall US because everytime I open a new window/ app it defaults to US. The programs I have open and have changed to UK remain UK. It's pretty bizarre, but if I take US off, UK will be the only configuration it can be.

Is this possible and how so?

Or do I need to be doing something else?
