Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 Price?

Q: Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 Price?

I'm looking around to sell my laptop but I'm not sure what price to sell it at. Best buy would buy it at $150, which doesn't seem accurate at all. Others are selling it around $700 on Amazon.Com, which seems like too much for a used laptop? Any help please would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,  I tried to power up laptop. It would not power up. just white blinking light. I tried most recommendations i found online, like unplug power adapter, batter, hit button 10 seconds, 15 seconds 30 seconds, remove ram nothgint works.  I removed back cover. unplugged i guess the power port. then blinking light went away, I thought maybe it's stuck in sleep mode. It was defintily dead. plugged back in power port. The blinking light came back. the fan spans. just computer does not boot up. What are the odds both batter and power adapter both dead.  thanks for your help,

So, long story short. I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and now it seems like the only thing that will get my laptop up and running normally again is a recovery disc from Lenovo. I just got off the phone with customer service and they informed me that recovery discs can not be ordered in USB form.  This is where my main issue is. My Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop did not come with a CD-ROM Drive. With that being said, I do not want to spend $69 on a recovery disc that will require me to purchase an external CD-ROM drive that potentially won't even work... When I asked customer support if I could return and get a refund for the disc if it will not boot through an external CD-ROM drive, they said no. Has anyone been able to run a recovery disc from an external cd-rom drive successfully? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this thing...

I have a lenovo ideapad y500 with a 1366x768 screen, and I am looking to pop open the screen, and replace the panel with a 1920x1080 screen. Assuming that I purchase another 15.6 inch screen (size of the original screen), is this possible? A model of the y500 is sold with a 1080p display, and the graphics card in my model is more than capable of outputting such a resolution. I was just wondering if there is a chance that the connections between my laptop and new screen would not match as I do not know if there is some sort of standard port with screens. Thanks!

A:Screen upgrade lenovo ideapad y500

You would need to find out the exact model of the 1080p screen was that was sold with that model and order the same one or compatible replacement model. Laptop screens are not universally interchangeable and you can't just buy any screen and connect it.

Please help. Trying to upgrade it from the Store but it is stuck at installing, it seems halfway through. Left it overnight (8 hours) but still at the same place. Tried again, 3 times already but the same result. Then I tried downloading Window 8.1 ISO through official channels with success but when I try it that way it requires me to input my present Windows 8 product serial which originally came with the machine. But that didn't work because it is OEM.  Ultimately I am trying to upgrade to windows 10 but I need to upgrade to 8.1 first.

Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating. I searched this: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?   for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none. Can anyone help me fix this problem before I get a refund from this potentially bad purchase? FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected. Thanks for the help.

Hi guys, this is my first post in these forums. Now, I searched a lot for a solution to my problem, but now I'm creating this thread.I got a Lenovo Ideapad Y500, and it worked really well for like a month, then I started hearing this really loud whirring noise and some vibration coming from the left side of the laptop, near the heat vents. I shut my laptop off and when I turned it backon It was gone. But now the noise is back and whenever I reboot my laptop is goes away but then it comes back after a while. Also, whenever I run the dust removal thingy in the Lenovo energy management app, It gets really loud then it goes away.I don't really feel lots of air coming out from the vent on the leftside of the laptop. I think it might be a fan problem but my laptop stays around 45-65 Celsius mostly. I don't know how hot it runs when I play games, though. Any help on this unnatural whirring sound that starts after a while is really appreciated.

I have noticed that when  i shut it down -> unplug the power cable then i remove and again attach the battery leave it for 12hours and there weren't any battery drain. So it only appears when i just unplug the power cable and leave it. I have read some topics(some ppl have the same problem) but i haven't find any solution. Is there any solution to solve this problem?? Bios version is the latest one.. I haven find any newest bios ver on your website.  Tomas

I'm assuming you have win 8. Try this:On the Windows 8 Start Screen, press CNTL + ALT + DEL.On the next screen select the Power icon located in the lower Right. When the options appear, press the SHIFT key and select "Restart". When the next screen appears, select "Turn off your PC". The unit will power down completely.See if you still have the battery draining.Note: Even if the unit is off, a little drain is expected to maintain the clock, etc.

In a nutshell, I noticed that my laptop screen would randomly start turning off for no reason while the laptop was still running. The "fix" for this would be to open the laptop up farther. Eventually, only the most wide-open orientation would allow the screen to display, and even that has ceased to work consistently. So I have read other posts about display issues that are common, so I will try to be as specific as I can. THIS IS NOT:  A software issue, as best I can tell. My screen does not show lines or strange patterns, it just goes black. And I don't mean the display goes  blank, it actually turns off. No light. A screen issue, I don't think. The screen displays perfectly well for short periods, and then just cuts off. It seems to be effected by the position of the display (e.g. How open the laptop is). I have to open the laptop as far as it will go for best effect, and even then, the screen will simply shut off after several minutes. Sometimes I can find a "sweet spot", and get the display to function for an hour or more, so long as I don't jostle the laptop more forcefully than using keystrokes. A GPU issue. I have hooked up the laptop, during period of screen blackness, to an external display. Everything shows up fine, which I understand would not happen if the GPU was having problems. MY MAIN QUESTION FOR THOSE SMARTER AND MORE SKILLED THAN I:Is the issue likely a loose screen cable, or something similar? I've been using this laptop for a few years now, and while it has its fair share of small problems (track pad not working, keyboard coming loose and sometimes not working, speakers slowly dying, start ups where the screen doesn't turn on.) Despite those issues I always found a way to either fix or at least work around the problems until today.I was just watching YouTube videos when the laptop without any warning shut off instantly, even though it was plugged in, and mostly charged. After that none of the power lights would go on at all, not even the charging one. I tried unplugging it, removing the battery, holding down the power button for 30 second, and every combination of those steps I could think of. Is there any hope of saving this laptop, or is it bricked?

Hello. As the title says, my Ideapad Y500 is starting to have some issues. A week ago it refused to shut down. Screen would turn off but not the laptop, which would remain kind of dormant. Following some advice online I uninstalled Express Cache form the Control Panel. Now the system turns off, but I have a new problem, this time booting up.Whenever I boot up the laptop it goes to the Lenovo splash screen, then black, then resets to the splash screen and stays there forever. If I shut it down manually and then boot it up again, it goes to Windows as it should, but the whole process takes from 2 to 10 minutes. If I try to restart the system, same thing happens.  If I keep doing this I fear one day it will just die on me.Added to this, I've been getting intermitent failures of the Intel RST software, which sometimes just won't work at all. Other times it's fine. I read somewhere I should update the drivers but I don't know where to find them or if hey may harm my pc even more.I'm running Windows 8.1 (64 bits). So far, besides uninstallid Express Cache, I have run chkdsk on both disks on my system and they appear to be fine (or at least nothing comes up when running the scan). Beyond this, I have no clue how to proceed. I'm not a especially tech savvy person, so any help you guys might give me will be greatly appreciated it. Also, if you can explain it as clear and simply as possible, it would be that much better. Thanks a lot!

Hello Lenovo Community,I currently have a Lenovo Y500 Ideapad. I personally love the processing power of my laptop and have found it to satisfy most of my needs. The problem I seem to be having is with the quality of the keyboard. After about a month after purchase, one of my keys (the F key) seemed to have fallen off. I noticed after examining it that the plastic that holds the keys on simply snapped off (about 5mm of cheap plastic to hold the keys on). I sent it in and have recieved a whole new keyboard within a week. 3 weeks later and my S key has broken again. I do have warranty on it but it is a pain to sendit in EVERY 3 weeks to get a single key fixed. I was wondering if this was simply my bad luck or poor Lenovo keyboard design. I am considering returning my computer or scrapping it to get a new one with better quality. Someone let me know if it's just me that is experience this or if Lenovo has serious issues with their key design.Sincerely,Angry Lenovo Customer.

Hello, I have a problem with my lenovo y500, right now my laptop won't boot to Windows 8, it stays in the lenovo black screen and shows "preparing automatic repair" loading for many minutes. Also when it boots, goes to a blue screen where I can choose options like recovery and stuff, the thing is that when I click it, it says that the hard drive is locked and I don't know what to do.

Update:

I don't even get to be in windows, it doesn't boot at all.

I made a restore with one key recovery and still won't boot. I really don't know what else to do, since this M$ system of not providing a win 8 key with the laptop that the user can see won't let me download a new win 8 iso from the official website.

I?ve downloaded an enterprise version wich doesn't work either, so now Im downloading a pirate version to see how it goes.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I took it to the service center, and they said that it is necessary to install only Windows 8, because the BIOS and SLI does not work correctly with Windows 10. If i go to realtek controlpanel, there is nothing that would work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled realtek now for two times. No change. The sound comes only out from the speakers.I'm using windows10.

HelloI bought separate GT650 and was wondering that will it fit to another Thinkpad as well? Is Y500's Ultrabay somehow different? At least power supply should be greater?

So it all started few months back when I updated my Y500 to Windows 8.1 from store. Back then freezes weren't that frequent. It used to freeze once or twice a day. The screen would either go black accompanied with a 'pop' sound, fan would start running and it would shutdown moments later or would go crazy with weird colors and same thing happens( http://i.imgur.com/e79BVsP.jpg ) . Soon the freezes increased to the point that my Y500 would freeze moments after it boots to desktop (or even during booting)So I did a clean installation of Windows 8.1 few weeks back and it was normal for first 2 days. The issue started again. I unistalled latest Nvidia drivers (removed using Display Driver Uninstaller) and reverted back to old Nvidia drivers from Lenovo website, also tried the TDR fix but it didn't fix a thing. The issue is even more terrible when the laptop is not plugged in. (Didn't encounter any such issue when I booted in safe mode though.)Tried running scannow and RestoreHealth commands. Couldn't fix (due to some errors, forgot what it was).Tried running chkdsk scan, Never got the chance to finish as it would get interrupted by the freeze everytime.Encountered few BSODs too. (MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL(tcpip.sys), WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR). Even as I write, I'm being interrupted with this freezing issue(see the pixelated colors) : http://i.imgur.com/hwDuK5k.jpg Maybe old, but here are the MiniDump files :https://drive.google.com... A:Lenovo Y500 Serious Freezing Issue

I have a freezing issue too. Mine is a 3-month-old Yoga 500 14IBD, core i5 5th gen, 500gb HDD. File explorer and chrome used to freeze many 3-4 times a day. Did a clean install of win 8.1 (single language). chrome and file explorer freeze a lot less now, but the issue isn't entirely resolved. Plus my battery life has taken a turn for the worse after the clean install
