Preferred Solution: Lenovo, please add LVFS firmware for Thinkpad T450 & Dock 40A2

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,  I have Lenovo ThinkPad L540 and Basic Dock and I want to upgrade dock to Ultra Dock 90W 40A2. I have question about external displays. My setup is 3 monitors Benq GL2250. Right now there are two monitors connected mini-DP on Laptop and VGA in Basic Dock, third one is inactive right now. Could I connect all three monitors to Ultra Dock and have working laptop display simultaneously. I just want to be sure about this solution working and which ports could be used to connect monitors Thanks in advance

Can we please have confirmation that the A485 will be supported for BIOS updates via Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS)?According to the website https://fwupd.org/lvfs/devicelist I can see that fairly new Thinkpads like the P52/P72 are already supported. I do not mind waiting (within reasonable time frame) for Lenovo to fix the BIOS issues but at least I would like to be able to update my system without relying on Windows. Can we please have an update on anything revolving this machine? Is LVFS support coming or not? Is a BIOS update planned fairly soon so that I can stick with Windows for a bit longer? Please shed some light on the situation. A simple yes is coming or no is not will suffice so that we can all move on... Thank you.

A:Lenovo, please add LVFS compatibility for Thinkpad A485

Hi,

I can't answer your immediate question, but I'm posting to make sure you know there's a way to get there. Perhaps you're already aware but others may not be...

It still requires Windows, but that could be in a VM if you don't have a Win box handy.  The Windows update exe includes a tool to make a bootable flash drive.  Instructions in the readme.

I realize it's not ideal but at least it's possible.

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me with my ever annoying problem. I have a T450s running on Windows 10 64-Bit. Latest Intel Drivers. I have an 40A2 Lenovo Ultra Dock. The following configuration is coming out of the dock into the monitors. Channel 1 - DisplayPort (dock) to Mini-DVI (monitor 1)Channel 2 - using DVI (dock) to DisplayPort (monitor 2) Channel 2 is not outputting any video signal at all. Intel's software is not recognising another monitor at all. Their DisplayPort Topology is showing 1 DisplayPort (this could be because the other is not connected). I've tried both display ports and they both work on either channels. I will be bringing in a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable shortly to try, but shouldn't my DVI to DisplayPort. Something is amiss and it's driving me nuts. Thanks,Ron

Hi, I am looking for some help, I have a T450 that has been working away on a Thinkpad Ultra Dock with no issues, then all of a sudden it will not charge while docked!! Take it out of the dock and charge directly and it works fine, I tried replacing with a new docking station the exact model but again it does not charge the laptop while in the dock, I have switched out the battery and it is still the same. I have fully updated the BIOS etc and still have the same issue, I tried updating the Ultra Dock firmware but run into issues as the firmware update will only run while docked and also has power, but as the laptop is not detecting power I cannot proceed , I tried updating out of the dock but it does not proceed either as it cannot detect the docking station. Everything else works via the docking station HDMI, USB, DVI, Ethernet  all working perfect, has anyone came accross this issue?

I have a W541 and it always worked well with the dock and dual external monitors, that is until the firmware was updated by Lenovo System Update to the Latest Version: 2.33.000 about a week ago. Now when you boot the laptop in the dock, the post shows on the two external monitors then they go black and seem to disconnect as the power saving icon shows on both monitors. If you undock the laptop at this point and immediately re-dock, the two monitors light up and no more issues. While this isnt a huge issue, it is very annoying since it always worked properly before the update. Any suggestions on a possible fix are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

When I dock the computer and press the power button on the dock it doesn't recognize my monitor as the main screen. I have to hit a key (Windows 10) and put in my password hoping that it's doing that and then the screen comes up. If I reboot after that ... THEN.... it recognizes my screen as the main monitor. How do I fix this? The only time this happens is when I use it off the dock and then put it back on. If it stays on the dock all the time it does just fine. Any fixes for this? Thanks...

The problem is that I have a SSD password so the password dialog is not shown on the external screen. I downgraded the firmware to fwdphb06 (installed fwdphb03 before, because fwdphb06 does not allow for a direct downgrade) and everything works fine again. @Lenovo: can you please fix this issue - if you need more information please contact [email protected] users with the same issue: try to downgrade the FW Have a nice dayMichael

ThinkPad W540Ultra Dock 40A2NVIDIA Quadro K2100M HELP PLEASE!  I need to hook up 5 additional Monitors (6 including the W540 LCD).  This is for Stock Trading. I have all 5 additional monitors on a monitor stand, it's a sweet setup! I have set the Graphic BIOS on the W540 to Advanced. In Advanced Mode I thought that all of the Video Ports would be live.  Here is what I can get to work: W540 LCD Monitor, two Monitors using the Dock's two Display Ports, and one Monitor using the Dock's VGA Port.  Althhough they work, the resolution is not sharp as expected except on the W540 LCD.  I cannot get the two remaing Monitors to work. I tried using the HDMI Port on the Dock connected to the HDMI on the Monitor, and the DVI-D Port on the Dock, using a DVI-D to HDMI converter cable (HDMI connected to Monitor) and that won't work.  I've also tried using the USB 3.0 cables.  I cannot get two of the 5 monitors to work. Is is possible at all with the setup I have, or do I need to go to a USB Display Adapter?  If I need to go the USB Display Adapter route, can I still use some of the cables I have and only use the USB Display Adapter for the two that won't work.  Or, do I need to get a Plugable 7 Port USB Adapter and connect them all up this way.  Using the USB Display Adapter should I connect them all using HDMI or VGA? Thanks in advance for helping me out, I have multiple hours invested and no hair left!&nbs... I recently received a ThinkPad T480s for my work PC and a Thunderbolt 3 Dock. I'm loving the laptop, but the dock is having some troubles. I'm worried either the dock is bad or worse, the laptop's Thunderbolt hardware is bad. The dock will cut out and appear to crash on certain occasions. I'm still trying to experiment with the triggers. I'm not 100% sure, but it appears that while I'm using it everything works fine - so long as I keep the laptop awake. It's when the ThinkPad goes to sleep or I leave my desk for a long enough time that the screens will have appeared to drop out. Or after the laptop has gone to sleep and I wake it up, then a few minutes later the dock crashes. For the most part the issue resolves itself once the dock power cycles and the displays come back up, but the last time this happened the screen was frozen and I had to do a hard shutdown of the laptop by holding the power button. My dock is pretty heavily loaded. It has the following peripherals attached: 2 DVI monitors with DVI to DisplayPort converterr connected to the dock1 VGA monitorEthernet connectionKeyboard USBMouse USBAudio OutAll monitors plus the docking powersupply are connected to the same powerstrip. The closest post resembling my issue is this one: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Displays-Options-and-Accessories/Thunderbolt-3-Dock-crashes-and-emits-c... But it doesn't appear to have been fully solved. I've updated the ThinkPad's Thunderbolt drivers and firm... Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 135W:https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/accessories-and-monitors/docking/universal-cable-docks-thunderbolt/Thun...2. ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock (170W):https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/accessories-and-monitors/docking/universal-cable-docks-thunderbolt/Thun...3. ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock (230W):https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/accessories-and-monitors/top-tech/Thunderbolt-WS-230W-dock-US/p/40AN023... Please correct me if I am wrong but to me it seems as if the only difference between these docks is that the workstation ones come with two AC adapters each and a special Thunderbolt/Power cable to avoid using two different cables. Or are there any other technical differences? So if I am okay with a two cable solution couldn't I just use the Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 135W and connect it via Thunderbolt while at the same time use my 135W AC adapter to charge the laptop? Thanks a lot in advance.
