Preferred Solution: Lenovo, please add LVFS firmware for Thinkpad T450 & Dock 40A2

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,  I have Lenovo ThinkPad L540 and Basic Dock and I want to upgrade dock to Ultra Dock 90W 40A2. I have question about external displays. My setup is 3 monitors Benq GL2250. Right now there are two monitors connected mini-DP on Laptop and VGA in Basic Dock, third one is inactive right now. Could I connect all three monitors to Ultra Dock and have working laptop display simultaneously. I just want to be sure about this solution working and which ports could be used to connect monitors Thanks in advance

I am trying to create a script to silently upgrade the firmware of the Lenovo L480 ThinkPad USB-C Dock in our entire company through network.I downloaded the exe through here : https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS501903I have created the script, I used the /verysilent switch in order for the user not to see anything on the screen, but despite that switch, after beggining the tool installation and automatically accepts EULA, at the end i am getting a screen that I have to select Check, Update or About. (chefck attachment 1).Is there any switch that bypasses that step and automatically clicks the update button? At lenovo support page, at installation instructios for MDT only states the /silent (which is not working for me)I checked the switches of the exe but i cannot find anything helpful.  Any ideas?

Can we please have confirmation that the A485 will be supported for BIOS updates via Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS)?According to the website https://fwupd.org/lvfs/devicelist I can see that fairly new Thinkpads like the P52/P72 are already supported. I do not mind waiting (within reasonable time frame) for Lenovo to fix the BIOS issues but at least I would like to be able to update my system without relying on Windows. Can we please have an update on anything revolving this machine? Is LVFS support coming or not? Is a BIOS update planned fairly soon so that I can stick with Windows for a bit longer? Please shed some light on the situation. A simple yes is coming or no is not will suffice so that we can all move on... Thank you.

A:Lenovo, please add LVFS compatibility for Thinkpad A485

Hi,

I can't answer your immediate question, but I'm posting to make sure you know there's a way to get there. Perhaps you're already aware but others may not be...

It still requires Windows, but that could be in a VM if you don't have a Win box handy.  The Windows update exe includes a tool to make a bootable flash drive.  Instructions in the readme.

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/r0wuj37w.exe

I realize it's not ideal but at least it's possible.

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me with my ever annoying problem. I have a T450s running on Windows 10 64-Bit. Latest Intel Drivers. I have an 40A2 Lenovo Ultra Dock. The following configuration is coming out of the dock into the monitors. Channel 1 - DisplayPort (dock) to Mini-DVI (monitor 1)Channel 2 - using DVI (dock) to DisplayPort (monitor 2) Channel 2 is not outputting any video signal at all. Intel's software is not recognising another monitor at all. Their DisplayPort Topology is showing 1 DisplayPort (this could be because the other is not connected). I've tried both display ports and they both work on either channels. I will be bringing in a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable shortly to try, but shouldn't my DVI to DisplayPort. Something is amiss and it's driving me nuts. Thanks,Ron

Hi, I am looking for some help, I have a T450 that has been working away on a Thinkpad Ultra Dock with no issues, then all of a sudden it will not charge while docked!! Take it out of the dock and charge directly and it works fine, I tried replacing with a new docking station the exact model but again it does not charge the laptop while in the dock, I have switched out the battery and it is still the same. I have fully updated the BIOS etc and still have the same issue, I tried updating the Ultra Dock firmware but run into issues as the firmware update will only run while docked and also has power, but as the laptop is not detecting power I cannot proceed , I tried updating out of the dock but it does not proceed either as it cannot detect the docking station. Everything else works via the docking station HDMI, USB, DVI, Ethernet  all working perfect, has anyone came accross this issue?

I have a W541 and it always worked well with the dock and dual external monitors, that is until the firmware was updated by Lenovo System Update to the Latest Version: 2.33.000 about a week ago. Now when you boot the laptop in the dock, the post shows on the two external monitors then they go black and seem to disconnect as the power saving icon shows on both monitors. If you undock the laptop at this point and immediately re-dock, the two monitors light up and no more issues. While this isnt a huge issue, it is very annoying since it always worked properly before the update. Any suggestions on a possible fix are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi people,I have some issue with my screen on lenovo thinkpad t450. I bought it in Sweden recently (few months ago) and everything was fine, and then this morning this black spot of pixels showed up. Or have some tips how to solve this?

One thing is common for any laptop, whenever you use without power adaptor, it uses the battery and work for few hours. If you don't shutdown before shutdown, it drains battery out and power off automatically. But once you connect power adaptor back, it recharges the battery and power on in normal mode. We have Lenovo T450 laptops which has dual batteries (Internal and external). When we use without charger, it uses batteries and if we forgot to shutdown, it powers off automatically and till here everything is normal. The weird thing start here, you can see the orange lights on few function keys, even you try to hard reboot or press and hold the power button for few minutes or keep the laptop as it is for few days, no changes. When you connect the power adaptor back, it doesn't recharge the batteries and you cannot power on the laptop. By struggling so much, we found a solution, need to open back cover, remove the internal battery and put everything back. The orange lights will go off, connect power adaptor and press power button, it powers on normally. Now the issue is, we cannot do it for 50, 100 or 200 users. Lenovo should provide the hotfix or any permanent solution. RegardsVijay

ThinkPad W540Ultra Dock 40A2NVIDIA Quadro K2100M HELP PLEASE!  I need to hook up 5 additional Monitors (6 including the W540 LCD).  This is for Stock Trading. The problem is that I have a SSD password so the password dialog is not shown on the external screen. I downgraded the firmware to fwdphb06 (installed fwdphb03 before, because fwdphb06 does not allow for a direct downgrade) and everything works fine again. @Lenovo: can you please fix this issue - if you need more information please contact [email protected] users with the same issue: try to downgrade the FW Have a nice dayMichael

Ok, I have seen other forum posts, but they are old, and do not seem to be the same.  My current problem is that whenever my T450s laptop (i7-5600U, 12GB RAM, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB with firmware up-to-date) is connected to my Thinkpad Ultra Dock (type 40A2; FRU 04W3951, firmware 2.30), in order for my computer (and attached monitors) to work, the laptop MUST BE OPEN and the LAPTOP power button ONLY can be pressed to turn the system on.  If I have the lid closed and I press the power button on the docking station, NOTHING will happen except blank screens on ALL devices and the laptop's red LED turning on. -U560 So, how did I arrive at this problem?  The unit has the 90W power supply (good or bad, it has been working for over a year, perfectly fine!)  I have Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) installed, and had dock station firmware version 2.22 installed.  Around two weeks ago (~15 August, 2016) the latest Windows "update" (I believe this started with build 14393-release160715-1616, which I am currently running) updated on my system.  At that point, I ensured all my other drivers were current and updated the dock firmware to 2.29 (because the "readme" file said it "fixed screen flickering in some monitors.")  Well, this firmware version did fix the "flickering," but now I am required to have the laptop lid open when "docked."   I "sucked this up," assuming the issue would be addressed soon in a new firmware update.  To... Hi ya-ya,

Greetings.

Yoga 720 13 is not really listed among those confirmed compatible with Pro Dock DU9033S1 which are mostly intended for Thinkline laptops.

There is specific dock also suggested using lenovo smartfind.

There is however shared discussion on what works with fellow members here and here that may interest you reviewing.

I hope this helps answer your query.
