[SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 1750 Vista Won't Boot

Q: [SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 1750 Vista Won't Boot

Hello, I am working on a friend's Dell Inspiron 1750 with Vista Basic, I don't know any other specs right off. He brought it to me because it wouldn't boot and startup repair couldn't fix it. He said He just renewed his McAfee.

Normal, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Net, Safe Mode with Command, Last Known Good Configuration, and Disable Driver Signature Enforcement all fail with STOP 0x7B before rebooting (safe mode BSOD's right after CI.DLL, I tried replacing it with a copy from the repair disc, but it didn't help)

I ran Windows Defender Offline, it found some adware but thats it.
Startup Repair Fails with "BadDriver"
System Restore Failed with "Catastrophic Failure" for all 4 points I tried
sfc /scannow wont run something about a pending repair
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows found corrupt files but couldn't fix them

I have tried changing between ATA and AHCI

All Dell Diagnostics Passed
I only have access to a repair disc and I don't know what his backup habits are so clean Install is a last resort

Any Idea What I Should try Next? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: [SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 1750 Vista Won't Boot

Hello Shadow4.2,

Your error, INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, can be caused by many things.

I suggest running Memtest86+ for at least one pass, then run the HDD manufacturer's drive diagnostic software.

I suggest downloading the UBCD. If you do PC repair on a regular basis, it will come in handy as it contains most HDD diagnostics, Multiple memory diagnostics and other tools...

You can download the latest .iso from the link in my signature.

I wouldn't put too much stake in the Dell Diagnostics. It only runs a cursory memory test and a S.M.A.R.T. HDD self test... A full media scan is recommended at this point.

Hi there People

I am at a B & B and one of the residents has brought his laptop to me to try and sort out.

He has a Dell Inspiron 1750 - 8424.

It was running Vista but it is now running Windows 7

I have looked at it and it will not boot up.

the message on the screen is as follows:-

Windows Boot Manager

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.

2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next"

3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

Any help please, the worst thing is he is Hungarian so we are doing everything through Google translator.

What I plan to do is download a boot file to a usb stick and then make the laptop recognise the stick if possible.

Hi guys

I have a Dell Inspiron, 4gb, 64bit. Windows Vista, home premium.

First issue;
The system would freeze and flash and turn off at the slightest flick, such as a slight tap on the keyboard.

Second issue;
I took it apart for a clean, and thermal paste renewal, once I put it all together, I tested it and still the exact same, but now it's developed a NEW problem...I ran it all night without an issue, the next morning I turned it on and there was a problem... The screen wouldn't turn on, no back lights, not even the slightest suggestion the screen was on. Completely dead.

I took the power button section out, turned it on, worked perfectly, put it back on, back to square one.

Then I removed the keyboard plastic surrounding, and it worked fine, then put it all back together and same problem...

It's completely free from any virus. The laptop is using a 65w charger when it should be using a 90w charger, (not my laptop).

I've received the follow message a few times; "timer chip counter 2 failed" Explanations?

The screen is my main issue at the moment, it's on with no pressure, then off with pressure.

Thanks for your time

PLEASE HELP ME BYPASS THIS ITS A SAD SITUATION   I bought this device off of craigslist a few weeks back from an elderly couple who had purchased the device as a Christmas present for their only child(though not a child anymore)  who has since passed away... I have no way of contacting them for any possible info and I obviously am not able to access the original owner is there any way you can help

A:Dell inspiron 1750

It would be best to return the system to the seller for a refund.  If that's not possible, they'll need to transfer ownership to your name, so you can call Dell and have the password removed.  This will cost you a support call (about $60 in the US).
If they cannot initiate a transfer for you, you're going to be adding the cost of a replacement system board (which could be a few hundred dollars) to what you paid for the system.

A while back i got a inspiron 1750  laptop as part of a school certification in rubyonrails.
This was 2010 or so.
The bummer is as i understood this was a 64bit laptop.. but the school wouldnt let dell put a vista64 on it.. only vista32) ..they also previously wouldnt give us Apple laptops.
Anyway,,  just to see if it would work,.. I put win10 on it.. (but of course its not licensed) ..But i already have a tablet and a desktop both that are win10 (tablet is a surfacepro3 and desktop is a very new win7deskttop that was easy to go to win10.
Anyway, I have dvd for slackware and a dvd for mint18-cinnemon (spelling i know)
Im having problems with getting the built in wireless to work as it did previously.
In fact it worked win i had vista32 and a older linux .... dual boots usualy seem to make things work easier.
So I know linux will work on the laptop in a dualboot..      Any linux related advise as far as drivers??
.. im going to try the linux forum suggestions i have...Im not going to buy a new laptop... my tablet is in fact has more ram and more power and more hd..   but  do figure on doubling the ram on the laptop..and maybe even chk into having a ssd in the laptop.. ?

Hi !
I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 LapTop with 4Gb installed. 2 x 2Gb working fine.
I bought 2 x 4Gb DDR2 6400 800Mhz, once I installed the 2 memories the laptop didn't start, only the white light shows on. No fan, no hard drive running.

I installed only one memory on slot 2 and the computer works fine.
I switched the memory to slot 1 and again the laptop doesn't start.

Seems that slot 1 is faulty. But it used to work fine before I tried to install the new memories.

Now I can only use slot 2 with a 2Gb or the 4Gb. If I put both 2 Go like it was the laptop won't start.

Any idea how to make it works?

A:Upgrade memory dell Inspiron 1750

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Be sure both modules are firmly seated - try powering up with both of them.  If the system won't, but both modules work in one socket but not the other, the only thing you can do is replace the mainboard.  While it is technically possible to replace just the socket, the labor alone for that will exceed the cost of a replacement board.

Well I had to send my motherboard into service so I borrowed mums laptop a dell inspiron 1750.
The laptop screen is not my favorite cup of tea so to speak. And today I bought an adapter to connect my regular monitor to the laptop. And the dell won't recognize it at all. Trying to send a simple inquire to dell support is impossible, would need to pay for their support. Thought it could have been driver issues or so but can't find anything about it. This laptop originally shipped with windows 7, but mum upgraded to windows 8 during the early campaign when it was like 20? now it's upgraded to win8.1.

Any ideas how I can get this horrible laptop to recognize my screen?

A:Dell Inspiron 1750 won't recognize external screen.

Most all Notebooks/Laptops have a VGA port or DVI port that allows connecting a projector or external monitor. It is controlled by a key combination of Fn + Fx which toggles the port On or Off. There's three settings, LCD Panel only, External port only, or both at the same time.

On my Dell Inspiron 15R it's the Fn + F1, others may be F5 or F8, usually marked by a symbol resembling a TV/Monitor. The proper F key usually is marked in the same color as the Fn key but have seen some Notebooks where that was reversed, just pressing F key worked. Have also seen one newer Notebook with only an HDMI video port.

Hello all

My DELL says it has been paired with my GALAXY S2 but all sent items are FAILED!

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Thanking you in advance .

A:Cannot connect bluetooth from samsung s2 to dell inspiron 1750

Hi, try to update the bluetooth drivers. That might help.

1. Open Control Panel by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel search box, type Bluetooth, and then click Change Bluetooth settings.
3. In the Bluetooth Settings dialog box, click the Options tab and do the following:
To make your computer discoverable to Bluetooth enabled devices, select the check box for Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer.
When a Bluetooth enabled computer is in discovery mode, it broadcasts a wireless signal that allows it to be detected by other computers or devices. This is sometimes called pairing mode. If you check this box, your computer will still be able to detect Bluetooth enabled devices that are in discovery mode, but they will not be able to detect your computer.
a) To allow you to add Bluetooth enabled devices to your computer, select the check box for “Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer”.
b) To be notified when a Bluetooth enabled device is trying to connect to your computer, select the check box for “Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect”.

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 graphics card on my Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop. The laptop has only a VGA output, and no HDMI output.

Also, I just bought a Sony 50W656A TV. The TV works just fine, and I'm able to play movies using an USB hard-drive, external subtitles and all.

My only problem is that I cannot play any games on the TV as it is, because the TV has no VGA input. I remember reading that with this graphics card I could output YPbPr through the VGA port, with the proper cable. However, I cannot find where (if I remember correctly) read that.

Has anyone tried this?

Thank you for your comments.

A:ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 on Dell Inspiron 1750 - VGA to YPbPr

There's nothing in the Dell manual about that. But, there are VGA to HDMI adapters however, that will probably only get you video and not audio, like is in the "standard" HDMI output on a PC.

Dell Inspiron 1750, Windows 7 x64 - no wifi access through my Windstream 2wire router.

Other devices both Mac and PC are still connecting through my router so I'm pretty sure it's in the DELL. Out of warrantee of course.

I can see networks in the "connect to a network" box but when I try to connect to them, it brings up a box that says unable to connect to network. Most of the time the wireless status icon shows 5 unlit bars with an orange dot over them.

The only suggestion from trouble shooter is reset the router by turning it off and on. No go there.

I can connect with ethernet cable with no problem.

I've tried the "flush.bat" and other suggestions in other forums with no success.

it says it's working.

Welcome to the forum djbeede.

You appear to be connected both wired and wirelessly here, valid IP for both connections, the ipconfig/all would show me more than just ipconfig. You should unplug the Ethernet when testing the wireless as an Ethernet connection will override a wireless connection most every time.

Do you have any type of third party anti virus software installed on this system?

Have you tried resetting the router using the actual reset button on the side of the router?

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop with a Vista 32 home premium operating system. Some time ago, the CD drive stopped working, even though all the diagnostics say it is functioning properly. Recently, after a normal shutdown, the computer will not complete a reboot. It will turn on, go through the Dell logo screen, and Windows will begin loading. It will proceed through the "Please wait" screen, and the "Welcome" screen, and then goes to a black screen with the white cursor arrow. I can move the arrow freely with the mouse, but nothing else will happen. Eventually, it goes to the screen saver, and if you move the mouse, it will go to the sign-in screen. The computer will reboot in "Safe mode." Diagnostics in Safe Mode say that there were errors in the Drive that were supposedly fixed, but it still will not restart. I can't reboot with the installation disks because it won't recognize the CD drive. Any thoughts or help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell inspiron 530 that will not boot. Its running xp professional with a core 2 quad. When I turn it on i hear one beep and it sticks at the boot splash screen. F2 and F12 do nothing. So far I have tried the following:

1)Swapped hard drive out with a known working one.
2)Removed both sticks of 1gig ram and placed them in different slots.
3)Swapped out one stick of ram at a time to determine if one is defective.
4)Swapped out all ram with known working ram.
5)Removed radeon graphics card.
6)Tried to do a repair on windows from a disk but I cannot get into the boot settings.
7)Tried unplugging everything except the monitor and power cord.

After attempting these steps I still receive the same results everytime. I was thinking about removing and re-seating the processor, but I figure someone with more knowledge than me would have another suggestion for me to try. I fear the worst for this PC assuming it is the motherboard or processor. No new hardware or software was added to this system when the issue started. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

We would suggest you to boot into BIOS and check the Boot options.:

Start the computer
Choose to enter BIOS setup. ...
Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab. ...
To give a CD or DVD drive boot sequence priority over the hard drive, move it to the first position in the list.

Hello.  I'm hoping for some insight with my problem computer besides buying a new one at this time.  It is a Dell Laptop Inspiron model 1501.  A number of posts have mentioned similar problems to mine, but each situation is different.  I bought this one as a 'refurbished' model thru Dell, and it has always had unexplained instability issues and rebooting itself after locking up with the screen.  Aside from this, it has been a good machine.
A year or so ago, I bought an after market battery.  Everything was fine up until recently.  At start up I would see a message stating:  "Warning:  Battery cannot be identified.  The system will be unable to charge this battery.  Press any key to continue."  I was ignoring these messages.  Windows Vista eventually would not boot up successfully.  I would select to 'run windows normally' rather than 'start up repair'.  So now after booting windows in 'normal' mode, several days the computer fails to boot Windows Vista at all.  I can get past the Dell logo and a POST at start up.  I pressed F12 and did the Diagnostics.  At one point an error code was received soon after that read:
Error Code 0221, Message Error Code 2000-0221, MSG:  Chipset Interval Timer Failed!
Another diagnostic test did not produce any errors.
I need to mention at this point that I have taken out the battery and set it aside t... Read more

I found an old Dell Inspiron 530a in my house, it was stored because it didn’t work anymore, so I got in the job of restoring it. I found out the problem was the PSU, so I replaced it and it worked fine for about a week but 2 days ago, the computer froze for almost 2 hours, so I turned off the CPU. After that, the computer does not want to boot, I press the power button on the front of the PC, and it remains in an orange light, and in the inside, there is also another orange light in the Motherboard. The fans start very loudly and don’t stop until I unplug the CPU or I turn it off from the power button. I have tried these “solutions” for what I think is the problem:
Removing the Motherboard battery
Removing the RAM
Disconnecting the 24-pin from the motherboard
Disconnecting everything from the PSU
Switching the jumpers near the batteries
I don’t know what the problem might be, but I am almost sure that the PSU is not, since I bought it with a higher capacity than the original PSU and I have done the tests with a jumper in the 24-pin connector
The new PSU is a  “Coolmax V-500 Series 500W 120mm ATX Power Supply” and everything else are original Inspiron 530a parts.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me

Hi all,

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop thats giving me some trouble at the moment. When I turn it on it goes to the log in screen but the space where you type your password in just starts to populate until it can go no more. The backspace key doesn't delete anything. I tried using the onscreen keyboard but that wont respond either. When you hit F2/F12 during boot up it gives the screen where you can select your operating system. Windows 7 is the only one on there and its highlighted but when you hit enter to select it, it doesn't do anything. The first time I logged in the password box was empty but only a few of the keys would respond. Now though as I've already said the password box just seems to populate as though someone is holding down the keys.

Thanks for your help.

Try this, at the loading screen where you can push F2 or f12 press F5 repeatedly until its done loading. This will bring you into booting in Safe-Mode. Let me know if this works for you.

A friend asked me to look at their Dell Inspiron 531S Computer

On power up Splash screen appears, but does not boot and displays the choice
F1 - Start up

Bios setup reveals Phonix Bios. Everything seems to be OK HDD, CD/DVD ROM, USB controller etc.
Rebooted and chose F1

Started setting up Win XP. Strange, since System was supposed to be Vista.

Next Start up proceeded briefly, but finally resulted in the following message:

Fatal Error
An error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing.
One of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.

Press OK to view setup log file.
What the...?
Cannot do that!
There was now no response to my keyboard, so I could not proceed further. Had to power down.

Keyboard worked properly in Bios setup.

How can I proceed? Must I install a new HDD???

My Dell Inspiron 15z will not start up at all. A couple of lights on the keyboard flash, then it beeps twice, waits about 3 seconds, and beeps again. It does not respond at all, and will not go to sleep. I have to do a hard stop.

After a complete system re-install I lost my drivers. I now have a standard driver that does not comply with my non-standard keyboard (103 dutch C10N II).
I have been unable to identify the correct drivers to make my keyboard work again.
Your help is highly appreciated.

My hard drive died on my Inspiron 1750, it was running Windows 10 64bit before. I've installed a new SSD drive but it is not seen with SATA set to IDE or AHCI in the BIOS. I figured I'd need to Intel Storage Matrix driver so went to the Dell Support site for the 1750 but only saw Windows 7 drivers, did not work and I've even tried using Windows 7 with the "F6" drivers from Dell. On the hard drive selection page there's an option to load drivers, I point it to the drivers from Dell and it sees compatible drivers but it throws an error when trying to load them so I'm unable to get Windows 7 to see the drive and I'm not sure where to find equivalent drivers for Windows 10, the ones I got from Intel did not work. I am surprised that Windows 10 does not simply just see the drive. I thought that perhaps the Insprion does not like SSD so I got a new 500Gb HDD which is also not seen, I thought that perhaps the laptop cannot see any drive but have verified that the old drive is indeed dead.
Long story short, does anyone know where I can get working Windows 10 or Windows 7 drivers to allow the OS to see the SATA drives as the ones from Dell are not working?

A:Clean install on SSD Inspiron 1750

Does the system BIOS see the drive?  If not, it may be due to the slim nature of the SSD - this model was designed for a 9.5 mm drive.  The SSD is 7 mm (or possibly even slimmer).  You may need a spacer so that the slimmer SSD connects to the mainboard.
Press F2 at powerup and go into setup - - if you don't see the SSD listed, it's not connected to the system board.  Installing a spacer will solve that issue.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1090 there is no boot option for USB devices in the bios by pressing f2 or by pressing f12 for boot options. I have had no luck with google. I want to run a LIVE CD from a Portable DVD usb drive. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

A:[SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 1090 No USB Boot Option

Create your Live Bootable Flash drive, put the Flash inside the computer and boot into Setup (Bios) Go to Hard Drive Boot options, or Boot and choose Hard Drive and your USB Flash Drive should be one of the boot options. Move this to first place in the boot order. If this is not an option, the Bios does not support booting from USB Flash drive. You will need to burn a CD.

Very frustrating. Dell Inspiron 1420 becomes dim anytime I go on battery power. I have been in Power Options many times to adjust power management settings for battery consumption. I have all settings for 100% brightness on battery power -- no change. Any time the laptop is unplugged, the screen brightness dims to a low level -- impossible to read withough scorching headache. Please help if you have recommendations on solving this problem. Thanks - Derek

I loaded Vista 32 onto a Dell Inspiron 8200. I updated the video driver online from Dell's website, but even at the highest setting I cannot get a full screen image. There is a black border up both the left and right sides of the screen about 3/4 " wide, and a black border top and bottom about 1/4" wide. Can anyone please point me to a video driver that will enable me get a full screen image?

Thanks in advance!

I have a 2005 Dell Inspiron XP laptop. I noticed today that the coloring of the screen was a little shaky. I thought the cord was a little loose in the back, so I made sure it was stable and then the screen just blacked out.
I then shut the computer down for a couple of minutes and then tried to start it back up. The internal hard drive started up, but the screen did not. It stayed completely black. Any tips or possibilities of what it might be? Any suggestions, advice or helpful hints???? Thanks!

Please connect an external monitor to the laptop and see if you get any picture. It's possible that the integrated videocard on the motherboard has gone bad. Hope everything works out well for you.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop with 4GB installed (2 x 2GB) which is working fine. I bought 2 x 4GB DDR2-6400 800MHz SODIMM,, Micron Technology part number MT16HTF51264HZ-800C1.  I installed the two memory chips and the laptop doesn't start, only the white light shows on. No fan, no hard drive running.  The screen is blank and then after a couple of minutes you hear four beeps every couple of seconds.  What's wrong?
I thought the memory that I bought, MT16HTF51264HZ-800C1, had the exact same specification the the original Dell memory.  Did I miss something?  (By the way I read that removing the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds might solve my problem but that didn't help.  The posting never explained what this action would solve.)
Thanks for you help.

Put back the old RAM.
If your old RAM works then your new RAM is incompatible.
Also practice ESD protection when handling RAM.

Edit - Solved. I had to delete all the partitions (instead of installing over an existing Partition) before reinstalling Windows.

I have a laptop with a similar problem to this.

Dell Inspiron (Windows 7 installed).

On startup, a similar error message to this:
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 083)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

This Product is covered by one or more of the following patents:
US5,307,459, US5,434,872, US5,732,094, US6,570,884, US 6,115,776 and

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Series v1.19 (08/10/09)Click to expand...

Things I tried:

1. Hardware diagnostics (both the short and "full" tests). No problems found.

2. Loading windows disc (sent from dell) and doing startup repair. Doesn't find any problems.

3. Using command prompt and using all the bootrec commands including following instructions on Microsoft website on how to rebuild the MBR, etc.

4. Doing a system restore to an earlier date.

5. Pressing F8 or ctrl + F11 - Doesn't work.

6. Finally, attempting to reinstall windows.
When reinstalling windows, I picked the partition with the biggest space (where the OS was installer formally). After reinstalling, the computer restarts and nothing happens (still a black screen with the vague message above regarding PCIe FE Family Controller series).

Tried formatting again (the partition) and formatting again, same problem (windows restarts and acts like windows install didn't go through).

Anyone have any ide... Read more
