I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I downloaded AOMEI Partition Assistant standard.I wanted to the change the partitions of my Lenovo G710As far I can remember there were 4 little, some Mb, partitions, one large (450? Gb) and again 2 partitions. The 450Gb one I resized to 150GB, made a new one of 150Gb en a new one of the rest  125GB(?)I want to make a data/backup partition and a win 10 partition.  Dual boot. After apply, the laptop almost immediately rebooted and a DOS like screen appeared. After a while the laptop rebooted and then the problem started.First message:Preparing automatic repair. Then something like evaluating problems (I have a Dutch version of windows 8)The pc hasn't started well, boot again.Or advanced options.I tried to boot over avanced options from usb. Didn't work. Secure Boot is turned off.Usb is formatted in fat 32 and once bios and now uefiBios version 8ECN95WW If in Bios Legacy support is choosen, the win 10 USB is accepted, but can't write on de hdd because it's uefiThere I noticed that partitions haven't been made. Just the first one was shrinked. Is there a solution to restoring my windows 8 partition? I could take the hdd out and use it as usb drive to repair it, on an other computer, but I don't know how. RegardsKosKos.

So recently the hard drive of my Lenovo G710 started working worse and worse so I did a system back up to an external hard drive. After that I bought a new harddrive(has nothing on it, not even windows). I installed that one in my laptop and pressed the Recovery button. So I selected system recovery but every time when I do that it sats 'iPv4 and iPv6 boot failure'. And then it says that there is no boot device. How do I fix this? Thanks in regards, Kay.

After working for a long time quite happily suddenly at the end of last year my Lenovo G710 hung at the 'Lenovo logo' and the circling dots. No new software or drivers had been loaded to my knowledge. The only way, after trying all the options, to get it going was to reload Windows 10 while preserving files. That seemed ok for a while, then the problem repeated. It has now repeated 'hanging' several times at some random point after starting to reload all my software (in different order each time but no common poiint of failure). I've reloaded Windows 10 each time and latterly tried a complete reload wiping all user files but the problem has repeated. Intitially I could return to a 'retore point' but even that doesn't work now, nor could I reload a system image created using the built in backup.I've run memory checks, disk checks and the full Lenovo hardware check as well as anti-virus scans using various software tools and none of these have shown up a problem.Sometimes - though not every time, the WIndows failure screen shows 'kernel security check failure' and other times 'bad pool header'. These messages don't appear at every reboot into a recovery attempt though.Any ideas?

A:G710 Microphone problems

Hi peny, Welcome to community forums. You can try these steps. 1. Right click Volume Control > Recording Devices > Right Click Microphone then go to Properties > Go to Levels tab > Make sure mic is not muted, or adjust the volume. 2. Go to Control Panel > Look for Realtek HD Audio Manager > Go to Microphone Tab > Make sure mic is not muted, or adjust the volume. Try to record using Skype test, or go to Control Panel then use speech recognition if it will record your voice.  Hope this works

Purchased a Lenovo G710 laptop with Windows 8.1. Was anxious to start setting it up. Found that usernames and passwords were used everywhere. At first, I misspelled the username for my son and he gave me the wrong PW. That will give you a clue to the rest of the day. During this process I installed a couple of email clients, trying to get one to accept a PW. That is when he called me and admitted that he gave me the wrong PW.
Reading the manual, I find that the restore operation will reset the system to where it was when it left the factory.

My question is; If I use the restore and remove the email clients will I be able to START OVER with the setup? That would save me a lot of time and mistakes.

I have a G710 laptop. Tried to start up. Would not start. Orange light on front edge is blinking. Did this:" unplug the AC adapter and take out the battery. Then, push thepower button 10 times in a row at one second intervals. Next, push and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the AC adapter (without battery) and push the power button, but not turn on." Was able to start and run fine with just the power cord attached. Battery is still out. I did not try to put the battery back in. Should I? Do I need a new battery?

Dear Team, I am helping a friend with Lenovo laptop G710. He had purchased it with preinstalled Windows 8.1 which was upgraded to Windows 10.Everthying seems to work except the USB 3.0 port. Every time he connects any device (external hard disk, WiFi antenna), the device works properly for a moment and after that starts disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. He tried to install the available drivers for his model from your website but it did not work. He also scanned his laptop with your software for driver updates and there was a message that the sytem is up-to date.By the way, for test purposes he installed Ubuntu and the USB port was working.Could you please assist with this issue? Do you recommend the use of any other driver for any other model?

Yesterday I tried to update the BIOS on my G710 as had been recommended to me, and the update froze halfway. Hello. I have an issue with my G710 laptop. My Nvidia 820m graphics card was working just fine until Windows automatically upgraded to Windows 10. My PC hasn't been able to detect my Nvidia graphics card since the upgrade. I can't install the Nvidia driver because the driver can't detect my hardware. The Nvidia hardware is not visible in device manager, but i can find it under hidden devices, where it says that the hardware is not connected to the PC anymore, (Code 45 error). I have done tons of research on the internet, and tried different solutions, but nothing is working. I have even gone back to Windows 8.1 now, but it still can't detect my hardware and it hasn't been physically removed for sure. Any help is appreciated! Thank you

So... According to several reviews I've read online and partly the manual, I'm supposed to connect to the extender which I've already connected to the network via ethernet cable, however I can't seem to find the extender...
The extender has a factory set IP of 192.168.0.30, and supposedly I'm to try to connect to it using any browser... However I can't connect to it, I've tried some other solutions such as to change my IP to an ip within the same range [the gateway ip of the router is 192.168.1.1] so I tried changing my static IP from 192.168.1.6 to 192.168.0.29 [read it somewhere...] so that I'd be able to access the repeater. A few notes:
WGT624v3 Router
DWL-G710 Repeater
I'm absolutely sure that it's connected, and within wifi range of the router.

Suggestions?

The D-Link DWL G710 range extender worked until my son installed Windows 7 on his laptop, but now he's lost connectivity. This model is just discontinued by D-Link and I'd have to pay for tech help (they don't even say how much for half hour before you have to give them your card # !!) so they're no help.

Windows XP would scan and give you a list of the signals in your area, but there's no such feature that we can find on Windows 7. So one doesn't know where the problem lies, with the signal or with the OS, or what. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Maybe Windows 7 doesn't support this model? We downloaded the driver--actually it downloaded automatically, we think, because other things work with the new OS, but we downloaded it again anyway just to be sure. But still nothing.

Thanks!

If it wasnt a win 7 driver it needs to be installed in compatibility mode. to do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility> check OS

Hello,I was hoping somebody could help me diagnose what I suspect may be an LCD problem.I have had my Lenovo G710 for around two and a half years now, and in terms of speed, reliability etc. it has worked perfectly, in part due to me upgrading the RAM and HDD to an SSD around a year ago.Over the past 3-4 months, I've been experiencing a strange pink/green flickering when I wake the laptop up from sleep/standby, or when I turn the screen back on when it has switched itself off due to being on battery. To use the below images to illustrate, what happens is the screen starts at Image 1, stays this way for 5-10 seconds, then moves to Image 2, and then the Green slowly moves down the laptop until it reaches the taskbar, at which time the screen then reverts to normal. All in all, the 'problem' lasts for around 30 seconds.Image 1: http://i.imgur.com/u8fSp88.jpgImage 2: http://i.imgur.com/MxHjZcE.jpgIt is probably important that, unlike some other threads I have seen on the Lenovo forum and elsewhere, this does not happen if I am actively using the laptop. I can use it for 4-6 hours on end and it will be perfectly fine. However, as soon as I leave it inactive long enough for the screen to go off (or when I enter standby), this will happen on every occasion.Ultimately, it's not the end of the world, because as I mentioned above, it only lasts for about 30 seconds, and then I can use it as normal, but obviously I'd rather fix this if I can.I don't think this is a software problem... The card reader in my G710 stopped working after a recent Windows 10 update.  The driver is  dated 2015 and there appears to be no later version.  The fault exists in the inrernal card reader and in an external one connected via USB2.  Is there a solution to this problem?

A:G710 - Card reader not working since Windows 10 update

Hi Bill2701 ,

Greetings.

Since it was working before an update , system restore should undo any driver change as rolling back drivers would.
To proceed forward , you may try to update and reinstall both chipset and card reader driver (to run as administrator) offered from the support site as windows update may have change its value.

To prevent unintended updates you may change settings to never .

Similar discussion testing card reader via Ubuntu Live CD/ USB Stick ensure that it is not a hardware problem.

Update us how it goes.

Hi guys,I'm quite frustrated and annoyed at this point as I have no idea what I can do more to fix this issue. I've bought this Lenovo G710 a few days ago, formatted and installed everything at home (while being connected through wifi and ethernet).Once I got to my co-working space which is near my house, the Wifi keeps messing up.I sit in a big room with about a dozen other people who are all online with their own laptops, I've checked with everyone else, nobody is having problems but me.When I connect to the network it works fine for about 30 seconds, then it mixes up between having really low speeds (Under 1mb) / disconnecting / giving me "connected but no internet access" or in it's common name, the little yellow triangle. While being connected and trying to do stuff, Google Chrome will alert me that my connection was interrupted / there was a DNS problem or I'm just offline.Sadly I can't get into the router to check it on that end as it's a shared space and so on.I'm writing this while sitting at home on the WIFI, no problems what so ever.Any help would be very welcome,Thanks!

I'm trying to find out the easiest way to go about upgrading from Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and what issues I might run into.

I don't want to reinstall everything (Or anything if possible) so am looking for the easiest option to upgrade.

Anytime upgrade offers the upgrade at $139, a bit expensive.

I found a seller on ebay selling "Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Full Digital Download Key " for a lot less (He has about 1500 feedback at 100%)
My question is, can I use the key from this and enter it into the 'Enter an upgrade key' box during the Anytime Upgrade? Will I run into problems doing this?

Alternatively, I could get a copy of Ultimate from Digital River, burn it to a disk or thumb drive, use the key from the ebay seller above and try to do an 'upgrade' install over the top of my current Windows 7 Home Premium install (I don't know if this is even possible?)

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

A:Upgrade to Ultimate from Home Premium - Anytime Upgrade or reinstall?

The best way for any install is ALWAYS a clean install. Believe me you will have less problems and headaches than an upgrade. It would be worth your while to reinstall your software.

Yes, the RAM can be upgraded to 2X16 = 32 G.
The internal GPU cannot be upgraded - you'd need to buy an external Alienware graphics amplifier and use an external GPU to upgrade.

It did so I purchased an upgrade to windows home premium. When I enter the upgrade key it says I need the current key is invalid for upgrade and that I need to phone a number. Does this mean the software I brought is useless. I didn't want to buy a disc as I had read that using a upgrade key meant everything was kept. Is there anyway I can use the software I've brought. The computer recognises the key as an upgrade one.
Thanks.

You can not use the Windows Starter from your Notebook on your mother PC.
Doing so would be a invalid upgrade.

I am trying to prep a computer to give to a friend. Last night, I reformatted it using the recovery discs that came with it. It is a Tosh Satellite A105.

Today, I have been finding and installing updates to the system, trying to prepare it for an upgrade to win7, which is no easy task since I have had to go out and find some of the drivers and service pack 3.

I am using the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, and need input on which of these 11 issues really are issues, and which I can skip and just install new once I upgrade.

Adobe issues -- I uninstalled it.

Toshiba Blue Tooth Stack for xp version 4.0 -- I downloaded and installed version 7.0, but have not uninstalled 4.0. It doesn't make sense to my feeble brain why I would have to uninstall 4.0 if I installed 7.0 unless it is because I downloaded the 7.0 instead of upgrading to it?

Here is a list of the rest:
MS .NET Framework 1.1 --I downloaded and installed a later version, so which version do I need to find?

Toshiba ConFigFree -- No clue what this is.

Intel ProSet/Wireless software -- ZeroCfgSvc Application -- No clue

Toshiba Utilities -- I have updated everything available from ms, so is this another one that I have to go find, and if so, what version?

To be uninstalled unless someone suggests otherwise:
Messenger
Realplayer
Realtek HD audio driver
Sonic Record now
Yahoo music engine

Thanks a bunch in advance for any help!

A:XP to windows 7 upgrade incompatibility issues caught by Upgrade Advis

1st, you can't upgrade from XP to Windows 7, you have to do a Clean Install which means boot the DVD and format the drive, so nothing you do to XP will have any effect.

Having said that, you can cheat

See here: Upgrade Install - XP to Windows 7

My recommendation would be to do an image backup of the XP system then do a Clean Install (with format), apply all updates then start restoring your data from the backup. All software will have to be reinstalled, it can't be copied from the backup to Win 7.

Good tutorials here:

Hi everyone....

Current PC specs listed above ..... to get it out of the way I am a gamer......

This upgrade is to allow me to play some of the newer games such as The Witcher and also to enable me to utilize DX10 when I eventually upgrade to Vista.

RAM.....this is what I have found...I do not overclock and I am very happy with the matched pair of Corasir XMS 512MB 5400C4 running at 533 that I currently have so I figured the safe bet is in just jumping to a matched pair of 1MB sticks of the same.....

Graphics card.....

I do have a budget and from the reviews I have read this card should carry me through the gaming world for at least the next year (hopefully 2) I like eVGA and I have nothing but good things to say about the eVGA 6800GS that I am currently using.

But if anyone has some input as to problems with the card listed below or if you know of another card that will perform just as well (or better) for around the same price I would like to hear about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.......

HELP!

I actuall have two problems. Firstly, I had been having the worst problems with my mouse which lead to me to thinking that I should reinstall win 2k with the possiblity that this would solve everything.

The mouse is sticking and it takes 2-3 clicks to get it activated again. Then when it is idle it seems to pull to the top or side or bottom of the page on its own. I have cleaned the ball, tried another mouse and uninstalled all the sp 3 upgrades I had done. It also happens when I go into WinMe which lead me to believe that it is not a win2k prob but thought I would give it a try anyway.

I installed the win2k cd and choose upgrade.

WELL.... it now says that:

"Setup cannot locate the Windows installation you want to upgrade. Contact your system administrator"

I cannot get back to windows 2k as it keeps trying to install upgrade. I am using Partition Magic Dual Boot and if I could get back to my drive c (the duel boot now makes drive f drive c) I could at least backup the important stuff.

I would appreciate any help to get out of this situation.

Looking forward to any and all replies.

Thanks in advance.

Since Windows 10 was announced that it will be free for Windows 7 and 8.1 users, that got me hyped up. There are many things I've found about Windows 10 that makes me want to have it such as DirectX 12 and Windows Aero (one of the reasons why I love Windows 7). I signed up to the Windows Insider Program and got a slow but interesting feel of the Windows 10 Preview on VMWare Player and now I'm ready for the real thing! I reserved the upgrade for Windows 10 when it comes on July 29th just to be ready.

Only problem, its August and I haven't been given a message that says Windows 10 is ready to install.

Now I've read that when Windows 10 was released on the day of its launch, that the Microsoft servers have been running at their limits since a lot of people have waited the day and received their Windows 10 upgrade. I've googled some forums as well to find any other problems associated with the Windows 10 upgrade but none of them matched my description. I have the Windows logo notification on the taskbar, it just hasn't told me that Windows 10 is ready to install.

Now I'm not saying that this is taking too long and I want Windows 10 now, I'm only just a little nervous about how long this keeps up. I really hope that this doesn't drag on all the way till next year when the free upgrade option has expired, but this isn't much of a concern. I've heard of a Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and I have downloaded it but I decided not to install Windows 10 this as I have school an... Read more

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have other posts on my VISTA reinstall problems but I'll make it short to say I had to reinstall my OS. Knowing I had to reinstall Office, I also installed Works 9.0 that came with computer (Dell). Now, that is exactly what was installed before when I installed the Office 2007 just fine the first time (pre-reinstall of VISTA).

However, now when I go to install Office, it tells me it can't find a required upgrade product. On the box Works 9 is listed as an eligible product and that is what I have installed. It gives me an option to browse to the folder where it is installed but I've tried and don't quite know where to point it to find what it wants. Works seems to be in many folders.

Does anyone know what I can do? I don't have internet on that specific computer right now because of the VISTA reinstall issues (see other post) has created an issue with all the network drivers.

A:Can't install Office Upgrade...Why? I have listed upgrade product.

Have you started up your copy of Works to see if it functions?

I'm about to buy a new laptop from Costco with Win 7 Home Premium. On my old (now smashed) laptop I have a Win 7 Ultimate install. Can I just use the Ultimate serial key to do the Anytime Upgrade on the new machine? I keep reading that I need to buy an "upgrade key."

Thanks

A:Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade with non-upgrade Ultimate license?

Hi,
You will need an upgrade key to initiate the ultimate download, but if you can manage to obtain an ultimate installation cd your serial should work, also if you use this winisoutils - Windows ISO Disc Image Utilities

you can change a windows install cd (if you have one) into a universal edition one, very handy.

to answer your question an upgrade key is not the same as a serial, the upgrade key is just to download the installation while the serial activates it, and a serial from one edition will not work with a different edition.

hope this helps

I have a copy of MS Office Professional 2003 that has been installed and working fine for 2 years. Now (perhaps as a result of a Microsoft update ?) I am told that it is not genuine and will fail to work in 10 days. The invalidity is confirmed at http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/ It seems this is part of a bunch of product keys that purport to be one in a series of a volume licence but were really stolen.

Do I need to buy a full retail edtion of Office Professional 2007 or will an upgrade version be acceptable to the activation code ?

A:Will an upgrade version of MS Office see a hookey one as a qualification for upgrade

If you purchased this as a legal, retail version, then contact Microsoft about the false notification.

I have a home built ASUS A7N8X2 Deluxe MoBo with an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. I upgraded Win XP Pro to VISTA Ultimate with no problems other than upgrading a few drivers. It went smoothly. At the time I had 1 GB in one of 3 available slots. I attempted to add 2 GB more to occupy all 3 slots. This produced a reboot after POST as VISTA started. I rotated the the modules through all slots and finally realized that when I went beyond 2 GB it produced a reboot. During post it tests 3 GB and the BIOS displays 3 GB. I have 512MB of RAM on the video card. Any suggestions ?? I am running the latest BIOS and if I remove one GB the machine boots and runs great... ???? Ron

Yesterday, I clean-installed Windows 8 Pro x86 on an old Dell Vostro 1400 laptop which had been running Windows 7 Ultimate, and it activated and ran fine, without even a single exclamation point in Device Manager. I applied the update necessary to make the Store offer 8.1 and proceeded to install it as I've done on a couple other machines. After downloading the thing, it errored out with:

Couldn't install Windows 8.1

Contact your PC manufacturer to see if you can upgrade the System BIOS

When I clicked the OK button, it then gave me the informative and grammar-challenged error box:

Something happened and the Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code: 0xc1900104

Try again Cancel

Ever the optimist, I clicked Try again, and of course, it proceeded to download all over again from scratch, only to error out in the same way. I then downloaded all the Windows 8 updates, although just the one had been necessary on my other machines that successfully upgraded to 8.1, and tried again, only to get the same result.

Today, I've discovered the Windows 8.1 Compatibility Assistant, which avoids the lengthy download of the upgrade every time (Microsoft, maybe you should run it implicitly before downloading 3 GB of transient data), and it tells me:

This PC doesn't meet system requirements

Contact your PC manufacturer to see if you can upgrade the System BIOS

Obviously, no BIOS updates are available, and I'm simply wondering if anyone knows what exactly is the pr... Read more
