I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After a while the laptop rebooted and then the problem started.First message:Preparing automatic repair. Then something like evaluating problems (I have a Dutch version of windows 8)The pc hasn't started well, boot again.Or advanced options.I tried to boot over avanced options from usb. Didn't work. Secure Boot is turned off.Usb is formatted in fat 32 and once bios and now uefiBios version 8ECN95WW If in Bios Legacy support is choosen, the win 10 USB is accepted, but can't write on de hdd because it's uefiThere I noticed that partitions haven't been made. Just the first one was shrinked. Is there a solution to restoring my windows 8 partition? I could take the hdd out and use it as usb drive to repair it, on an other computer, but I don't know how. RegardsKosKos.

After that I bought a new harddrive(has nothing on it, not even windows). I installed that one in my laptop and pressed the Recovery button. So I selected system recovery but every time when I do that it sats 'iPv4 and iPv6 boot failure'. And then it says that there is no boot device. How do I fix this? Thanks in regards, Kay.

The wifi cards are whitelisted in BIOS so they have to come from supported list and have a Lenovo FRU number.

It doesn't appear that any of the whitelisted cards are AC:

A:G710 Microphone problems

Hi peny, Welcome to community forums. You can try these steps. 1. Right click Volume Control > Recording Devices > Right Click Microphone then go to Properties > Go to Levels tab > Make sure mic is not muted, or adjust the volume. 2. Go to Control Panel > Look for Realtek HD Audio Manager > Go to Microphone Tab > Make sure mic is not muted, or adjust the volume. Try to record using Skype test, or go to Control Panel then use speech recognition if it will record your voice.  Hope this works

Purchased a Lenovo G710 laptop with Windows 8.1. Was anxious to start setting it up. Found that usernames and passwords were used everywhere. At first, I misspelled the username for my son and he gave me the wrong PW. That will give you a clue to the rest of the day. During this process I installed a couple of email clients, trying to get one to accept a PW. That is when he called me and admitted that he gave me the wrong PW.
Reading the manual, I find that the restore operation will reset the system to where it was when it left the factory.

My question is; If I use the restore and remove the email clients will I be able to START OVER with the setup? That would save me a lot of time and mistakes.

Hello, Last week I spilled a drink over my keyboard. Very stupid, as most of the buttons are very sticky and not working and the keyboard could not be saved, but the rest of the notebook is fine and clean. Now I ordered a new keyboard, which was on many sites said to be a replacement keyboard for the G710 (also for the G500, G505, G510 and G700), but under every keyboard (even with the correct P/N 25210917 as on the original Lenovo keyboard) are three of these little pins, which aren't there at the original keyboard. I've searched all over but nowhere I can find such a keyboard without those pins. With those pins, it will not fit in my notebook. What should I do now? I'm slowly giving up. After working for a long time quite happily suddenly at the end of last year my Lenovo G710 hung at the 'Lenovo logo' and the circling dots. No new software or drivers had been loaded to my knowledge. The only way, after trying all the options, to get it going was to reload Windows 10 while preserving files. That seemed ok for a while, then the problem repeated. It has now repeated 'hanging' several times at some random point after starting to reload all my software (in different order each time but no common poiint of failure). I've reloaded Windows 10 each time and latterly tried a complete reload wiping all user files but the problem has repeated. Intitially I could return to a 'retore point' but even that doesn't work now, nor could I reload a system image created using the built in backup.I've run memory checks, disk checks and the full Lenovo hardware check as well as anti-virus scans using various software tools and none of these have shown up a problem.Sometimes - though not every time, the WIndows failure screen shows 'kernel security check failure' and other times 'bad pool header'. These messages don't appear at every reboot into a recovery attempt though.Any ideas?

I have a G710 laptop. Tried to start up. Would not start. Orange light on front edge is blinking. Did this:" unplug the AC adapter and take out the battery. Then, push thepower button 10 times in a row at one second intervals. Next, push and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the AC adapter (without battery) and push the power button, but not turn on." Was able to start and run fine with just the power cord attached. Battery is still out. I did not try to put the battery back in. Should I? Do I need a new battery?

From what I understand, the motherboard is likely bricked, but there should be a way to recover the BIOS. Can anyone help guide me with this? The BIOS is, I think, InsydeH20. What steps should I take from here? I have borrowed a working laptop and I have a flash drive to hand. Attached is a photo of the stalled update screen. Any help is much appreciated.?

Dear Team, I am helping a friend with Lenovo laptop G710. He had purchased it with preinstalled Windows 8.1 which was upgraded to Windows 10.Everthying seems to work except the USB 3.0 port. Every time he connects any device (external hard disk, WiFi antenna), the device works properly for a moment and after that starts disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. He tried to install the available drivers for his model from your website but it did not work. He also scanned his laptop with your software for driver updates and there was a message that the sytem is up-to date.By the way, for test purposes he installed Ubuntu and the USB port was working.Could you please assist with this issue? Do you recommend the use of any other driver for any other model?

The D-Link DWL G710 range extender worked until my son installed Windows 7 on his laptop, but now he's lost connectivity. This model is just discontinued by D-Link and I'd have to pay for tech help (they don't even say how much for half hour before you have to give them your card # !!) so they're no help.

Windows XP would scan and give you a list of the signals in your area, but there's no such feature that we can find on Windows 7. So one doesn't know where the problem lies, with the signal or with the OS, or what. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Maybe Windows 7 doesn't support this model? We downloaded the driver--actually it downloaded automatically, we think, because other things work with the new OS, but we downloaded it again anyway just to be sure. But still nothing.

Thanks!

So... According to several reviews I've read online and partly the manual, I'm supposed to connect to the extender which I've already connected to the network via ethernet cable, however I can't seem to find the extender...
The extender has a factory set IP of 192.168.0.30, and supposedly I'm to try to connect to it using any browser... However I can't connect to it, I've tried some other solutions such as to change my IP to an ip within the same range [the gateway ip of the router is 192.168.1.1] so I tried changing my static IP from 192.168.1.6 to 192.168.0.29 [read it somewhere...] so that I'd be able to access the repeater. A few notes:
WGT624v3 Router
DWL-G710 Repeater
I'm absolutely sure that it's connected, and within wifi range of the router.

Suggestions?

Hello. I have an issue with my G710 laptop. My Nvidia 820m graphics card was working just fine until Windows automatically upgraded to Windows 10. My PC hasn't been able to detect my Nvidia graphics card since the upgrade. I can't install the Nvidia driver because the driver can't detect my hardware. The Nvidia hardware is not visible in device manager, but i can find it under hidden devices, where it says that the hardware is not connected to the PC anymore, (Code 45 error). I have done tons of research on the internet, and tried different solutions, but nothing is working. I have even gone back to Windows 8.1 now, but it still can't detect my hardware and it hasn't been physically removed for sure. Any help is appreciated! Thank you

Hi guys,I'm quite frustrated and annoyed at this point as I have no idea what I can do more to fix this issue. I've bought this Lenovo G710 a few days ago, formatted and installed everything at home (while being connected through wifi and ethernet).Once I got to my co-working space which is near my house, the Wifi keeps messing up.I sit in a big room with about a dozen other people who are all online with their own laptops, I've checked with everyone else, nobody is having problems but me.When I connect to the network it works fine for about 30 seconds, then it mixes up between having really low speeds (Under 1mb) / disconnecting / giving me "connected but no internet access" or in it's common name, the little yellow triangle. While being connected and trying to do stuff, Google Chrome will alert me that my connection was interrupted / there was a DNS problem or I'm just offline.Sadly I can't get into the router to check it on that end as it's a shared space and so on.I'm writing this while sitting at home on the WIFI, no problems what so ever.Any help would be very welcome,Thanks!

Hi, I've always used my laptop to play low spec games, recently I noticed that my laptop at the fan vent was hot, so I checked my temps, the CPU seemed fine (40°C - 70°C), but when I checked my GPU, 70°C - 100°C at 90% to 100% usage. So after that I contacted the Nvidia forums and they told me that my GPU is a really weak one and my laptop was mean't for media and flash games (that kinda stuff). So I decided to buy a cooling pad and tried to play a low spec game, still up to 80°C. I forgot to mention that I repasted my GPU and CPU with a thin layer of Artic Silver 5 thermal paste, which is considered an upgrade for my laptop. Here are my specs: Laptop: Lenovo IdeaPad G710CPU:      Intel i7 4702MQ 2.20GhzGPU:      Nvidia GT710M/GT820m 1GB (Onboard)RAM:      8GB (Originally 4GB, but I upgraded to 8GB)SSD:       Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (Originally had HDD 500GB with 5400RPM) I stopped playing most games, because of my high GPU temps, but when I play low spec games where my system requirements are in range of the game, It shouldn't get so hot. Lastly, I checked if my CPU fan was running, It was. I'm currently out of ideas so is anyone on this forum able to help me solve my problem? Do I need a replacement laptop or is mine just fine for use? I'd like to hear your ideas. Thanks! Best regards, TheClient P.S. Posted this already: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B... Read more

A:G710 - Card reader not working since Windows 10 update

Hi Bill2701 ,

Greetings.

Since it was working before an update , system restore should undo any driver change as rolling back drivers would.
To proceed forward , you may try to update and reinstall both chipset and card reader driver (to run as administrator) offered from the support site as windows update may have change its value.

To prevent unintended updates you may change settings to never .

Similar discussion testing card reader via Ubuntu Live CD/ USB Stick ensure that it is not a hardware problem.

Update us how it goes.

My G710, which is a few years old, has started having problems charging. When you get it to sit exactly right, it charges, but then the slightest movement will make it lose connection and I have to move the cable back and forth until it's happy again. I was using a universal charger & there had never been problems before. I bought a new universal charger but it made no difference, so I think it's internal.
Also, the battery drains pretty fast, I think faster than it used to.

Is this something I can have fixed?

Thanks!!

Hello,I was hoping somebody could help me diagnose what I suspect may be an LCD problem.I have had my Lenovo G710 for around two and a half years now, and in terms of speed, reliability etc. it has worked perfectly, in part due to me upgrading the RAM and HDD to an SSD around a year ago.Over the past 3-4 months, I've been experiencing a strange pink/green flickering when I wake the laptop up from sleep/standby, or when I turn the screen back on when it has switched itself off due to being on battery. To use the below images to illustrate, what happens is the screen starts at Image 1, stays this way for 5-10 seconds, then moves to Image 2, and then the Green slowly moves down the laptop until it reaches the taskbar, at which time the screen then reverts to normal. All in all, the 'problem' lasts for around 30 seconds.Image 1: http://i.imgur.com/u8fSp88.jpgImage 2: http://i.imgur.com/MxHjZcE.jpgIt is probably important that, unlike some other threads I have seen on the Lenovo forum and elsewhere, this does not happen if I am actively using the laptop. I can use it for 4-6 hours on end and it will be perfectly fine. However, as soon as I leave it inactive long enough for the screen to go off (or when I enter standby), this will happen on every occasion.Ultimately, it's not the end of the world, because as I mentioned above, it only lasts for about 30 seconds, and then I can use it as normal, but obviously I'd rather fix this if I can.I don't think this is a software problem... Yes, the RAM can be upgraded to 2X16 = 32 G.
The internal GPU cannot be upgraded - you'd need to buy an external Alienware graphics amplifier and use an external GPU to upgrade.

AIM 6.5 Upgrade causes media to no longer play on versions of Vista DO NOT UPGRADE...the cause of media no longer playing on Windows Media Player and iTunes and all other media players was linked on my PC to the download and installation of AIM 6.5. It also caused my network icon in my system tray show i was no longer connected to a network, and it was an unknown network.

To fix these problems use the system restore program that Vista comes with and restore your PC to a saved version before your installation of AIM 6.5.

Hopefully this helps everyone having these problems.

Note: Aim will no longer work after doing system restore, so you have to re-install in, and if you dont have the install package for 6.0 saved somewhere on your computer do not re-install 6.5, go to the aim site and look for the classic version 5.9.

I have got myself into a bit of a mess.

I installed my version of windows starter on my mom's PC which was previously running vista. To see if it improved the performance or if the laptop itself was rubbish. It did so I purchased an upgrade to windows home premium. When I enter the upgrade key it says I need the current key is invalid for upgrade and that I need to phone a number. Does this mean the software I brought is useless. I didn't want to buy a disc as I had read that using a upgrade key meant everything was kept. Is there anyway I can use the software I've brought. The computer recognises the key as an upgrade one.
Thanks.

You can not use the Windows Starter from your Notebook on your mother PC.
Doing so would be a invalid upgrade.

Hi bruce90matrix,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Similar to discussions here and here:

Product specifications:
16GB max7 ; PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3*, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

OEM recommended HDD capacity is 1TB as offered here on the FRU list of the hardware manual (page 26 here).
Resellers like crucial would offer 2 TB so it would be best to check returns options just in case.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

To avoid the Student Win 7 hassle (upgrading Vista 32 to Win 7 Pro 64 bit ISO burn, etc), can I simply use the Home Prem 32 Upgrade (for my other computer) arriving this afternoon with my 64bit Pro upgrade key & end up with the 64bit Pro installation?

Thanks.

No... you can only update to the same version that you have installed... Home to Home... etc.

I'm trying to find out the easiest way to go about upgrading from Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and what issues I might run into.

I don't want to reinstall everything (Or anything if possible) so am looking for the easiest option to upgrade.

Anytime upgrade offers the upgrade at $139, a bit expensive.

I found a seller on ebay selling "Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Full Digital Download Key " for a lot less (He has about 1500 feedback at 100%)
My question is, can I use the key from this and enter it into the 'Enter an upgrade key' box during the Anytime Upgrade? Will I run into problems doing this?

Alternatively, I could get a copy of Ultimate from Digital River, burn it to a disk or thumb drive, use the key from the ebay seller above and try to do an 'upgrade' install over the top of my current Windows 7 Home Premium install (I don't know if this is even possible?)

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

A:Upgrade to Ultimate from Home Premium - Anytime Upgrade or reinstall?

The best way for any install is ALWAYS a clean install. Believe me you will have less problems and headaches than an upgrade. It would be worth your while to reinstall your software.

Hi everyone....

Current PC specs listed above ..... to get it out of the way I am a gamer......

This upgrade is to allow me to play some of the newer games such as The Witcher and also to enable me to utilize DX10 when I eventually upgrade to Vista.

RAM.....this is what I have found...I do not overclock and I am very happy with the matched pair of Corasir XMS 512MB 5400C4 running at 533 that I currently have so I figured the safe bet is in just jumping to a matched pair of 1MB sticks of the same.....

Graphics card.....

I do have a budget and from the reviews I have read this card should carry me through the gaming world for at least the next year (hopefully 2) I like eVGA and I have nothing but good things to say about the eVGA 6800GS that I am currently using.

But if anyone has some input as to problems with the card listed below or if you know of another card that will perform just as well (or better) for around the same price I would like to hear about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.......
