How to repair/replace keyboard for 510-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) model 80SR?

Q: How to repair/replace keyboard for 510-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) model 80SR?

I splashed some tea on the keyboard of my 510-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) model 80SR and now some of the keys have stopped working. I am in the UK so this is the layout/style of keyboard it uses (not the US layout). The backlight still works fine, though, and the laptop itself works normally, it is only some keys which have stopped working. I have fixed this problem on other laptops by simply replacing the keyboard, but on my ideapad the keyboard is internal (it doesn't pop out) so I don't know how to do it. Furthermore, I can't find any information about the keyboard for this laptop anywhere on the internet: not on google, not on youtube, not even on this Lenovo website. How/where can I repair/replace the keyboard? Will it be expensive? I have seen that sometimes only individual keys need to be fixed, not the entire keyboard, could this be an option? My laptop is still under warranty if that means anything. Thanks for any help.

Preferred Solution: How to repair/replace keyboard for 510-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) model 80SR?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and welcome,

The keyboard removal and reinstall instructions, as well as the parts list, are in the Hardware Maintenance Manual - ideapad 510-15ISK, 510-15IKB

Please double-check that I have the right model linked.

I recently purchased an Ideapad 510 from Amazon at the beginning of December.  I started it up, did some updates, and then went on a business trip/vacation for a month.  Now, when I turn on my laptop, only a black screen appears.  The keyboard lights are on, but my screen is completely blank (no cursor, no Lenovo logo, nothing). I have searched for help online, but am only finding intermittent problems, or suggestions of opening up my laptop to remove the battery.  Before I do that I wanted to see what other ideas people here had.  I was trying to open a support ticket with Lenovo directly, but have gotten very frustrated trying to find where to go to do that. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.  This is a brand new computer with good specs (2.3 GHz Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Windows 10). Thank you,Narynbek

Hi!I bought an Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15ISK Model:80SR and like other customers i have the same problem on this model with the gpu nvidia 940mx being at 100% usage but core clock speed and memory speed being at 405mhz (when base is 1122 and boos is 1242mhz). First i want to mention that i updated my BIOS version to the 2017 feb (latest for this model) and still have the same problem. The gpu core clock never goes above 886mhz and it usually drops at 405mhz and the memory as well.Like the others said on the forum it seems the problem is from lenovo bios settings where is set that gpu cant go above 62 degrees and when it does the gpu drops to 405 mhz making the laptop useless in games. Also it seems the only solution is an bios  update from lenovo that never came. Also I saw that the support never responded to this problem. I hope someone from lenovo will give me a solution to my problem.I still have my warranty and i'm thiking about money refund or laptop replace model if the problem is not fix because the laptop is not working in the parameters it should work and i wanted the laptop for light gaming

Hi everyone,  I have a problem with the keyboard on my laptop which becomes unresponsive sometimes.  This usually happens after running some kind of program.  I've talked to a support technician and they told me to run the solution program Lenovo has to find out what kind of problem it is and the results showed nothing was wrong with it.  This problem has happened about 10 times so far since I've bought this laptop and I figured it was time to get a solution to this.  Does anybody have advice?  Thanks

Hi there, Malshafey ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Regarding your question the reply is yes, you can upgrade your laptop with extra SSD Drive from Samsung.

Better solution for SSD is Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB M.2 SSD (MZ-N5E250BW) which one you can easily obtain through Amazon with a normal price. Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB M.2 SSD (MZ-N5E250BW) AMAZON

Hard disk drive ? 2.5-inch, 7 mm SATA III ? 500 GB / 1 TB, 5400rpm ? HYBRID 1 TB 5400rpm SSHD (8G) ? SSD, NGFF, 128 GB / 256 GB / 512 GB

Additional important information:

1) If you are going to upgrade PC by yourself (install a new RAM and SSD), your warranty won't be voided.

2) Installing an SSD Samsung you will need a screw to attach SDD to laptop, the screw is not included in SSD pack, so there are 2 solutions, you can find or order screw from Amazon or another shop (see laptop manual attached here to see the screw type) or, you can remove 1 srew from HDD drive frame to hold SSD (3 screws are enogh to hold HDD).

Update us how it goes.

I  bought this laptop lenovo idepad 510-15ISK from a shop in Greece. I added an SSD and upgraded the RAM the same day following sellers advice that the upgrade won't harm the warranty. The same day I detected that laptop were electrocuting me and the next day I returned the product to the seller for replacement. They verified the electric drain and the technician recovered the original HHD and removed the extra ram that I added so as to give it to the official technical support. I have been told that only if the technical support  say that this is a problem they will either replace the laptop or return my money back.It seems though that the technical support changed the motherboard of the laptop (approved that SSD and RAM upgrade didn't harm the laptop) and they don't approve the replacement or my money back. This laptop is no longer a new laptop but a refurbished one!!!!! I have already gone to local authorities for local seller, lenovo and official technical support for trying to cheat me and I am already contacting with local media to raise the issue in the Greek market about the tactics of lenovo. Can you please suggest me any other ways before this goes public not only in Greece but also in more European Countries?

I am generally a Mac user, but wanted a PC to run a few apps I can't run on my Mac, and didn't want to partition my drive and use Boot Camp (I'd done this previously, and chose not to do it this time). A few days ago I purchased a Lenovo 110-15ISK laptop, model number 80UD0017US. I had been looking at an HP laptop, but read that it was not so user friendly when upgrading the RAM and hard drive, and passed on that one (for that specific reason), and saw this Lenovo in the local Best Buy on sale. I usually check things out pretty throughly before I purchase, but I have to admit, I didn't on this purchase. Although the laptop is nice, I was not pleased to find out that you pretty much have to disassemble half of the computer to be able to access the memory and hard drive. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Anyway, I've decided to leave the hard drive as is, since it's a 1TB (although I prefer SSD and upgraded my MacBook Pro to an SSD on day 1 and love it!). However, I definitely want to upgrade the RAM from 4GB. I was a little horrified to find out that the 4GB is soldered onto the motherboard, and that there's only one available slot for RAM. I've read up a bit on it, on both this forum and through Google and Bing searches, and it seems there are differing opinions on how much RAM this model can accept and still be stable. Some say it can take as much as a 16GB DDR4 stick bringing the memory up to 20GB, and some say that the max is a 4GB stick, bringing the RAM u... Read more

I saw in the hardware manual that there are several part numbers listed, and the specific ones on my adapter are:45w AC Adapter Model Name: PA-1450-55LLLC P/N: 5A10H42923 In looking for the part online, I saw several on eBay and Amazon with the PA-1450-55LL reference, but at least one seller mentioned that the size of the connectors aren't always the same. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

Since (automatically) downloading a windows 10 update and restarting twice, my laptop has refused to boot up. It won't boot normally, and using the novo button either gives me boot/BIOS/setup options, or sends me to windows repair, though I have to spend anywhere bewteen 10-60 minutes looking at the lenovo logo before this actually happens. I've tried a number of different bios and boot changes to no avail (though I will admit that I've been following advice fromforums etc, and not all of them match up to what I'm seeing on my own screen). Attempting any of the Windows repair options just restarts the computer and ends up back at windows repair. Going back to the previous version fails, as does attempting to repair problems. Changing restart options dosn't actually let me (dis)able anything from that screen, and instead says that it will let me upon restarting (it doesn't). I've also drained my battery (until even the LED battery doesn't flash when attempting to turn on), unplugged my laptop, and held the power button for 10, 20, and 30 seconds. I don't have any restore points saved and I really don't want to do a clean install or a system reset, as I have a couple of weeks worth of work that I would really like to save (I try and backup once a month, more fool me I suppose). I don't really care about fixing this laptop as it's done this after only a little over a year (the fastest I've ever had a laptop fail!). What I really want is to get ... Read more

Hello, I have had my Y700 for 2 months. Right from the start I had the issue where it wouldn't seem to boot up, and I would have to put it to sleep a time or 2 before it would start windows. This problem seems to be solved. However, after installing the windows 10 anniversary update, the laptop will randomly 'freeze'. The keyboard will not respond, but I can still use the mouse. When I try to restart, the screen will go black, and it will not respond at all. I have to force shutdown with power button. After turning back on, it will work for 20-30 min and then do the same thing. I did a total reinstall of windows 10 and have updated bios to the 37, but it is doing the same thing.  Lenovo Solutions Center does not detect hardware issues. Can someone please help me? Hi everyone, I spilled water over my laptop about one week ago. At first, the keyboard was working perfectly, but the next day, some keys were connected (when pressing one, it would display 2 characteres). After some time, those keys that were connected, stopped working at all. It hasn't changed since then.  I am living in USA but my laptop was bought in Spain (it has spanish keyboard), and Lenovo US told me that they can't fix it here, I would have to send it to Spain, which is really expensive.  Is there any other way to fix it? I read online that water can't damage the keyboard, but it has been broken for 1 week, so I don't know if I have been unlucky. Also, the laptop works perfectly with an USB keyboard. Thanks.

A:Lenovo ideapad 700-15ISK keyboard not working after spilling water

Water can certainly damage the keyboard.  There are 2 layers of conductive film and water gets inside.  That seems crazy that they cannot get a Spanish keyboard in the U.S.  I would try to get a second opinion.

Hello,In Feb 2015 I bought a new Ideapad Z710 20250 1TB 16GB ram with win 8.1 64 preinstalled.  I always kept the original partitions being C (system OS) & D.I had a OneKey recovery/back-up in place both on local hdd & external drive being a Seagate Backup Plus 1TB.  Antivirus was a licensed fully operational AVG. Everything went smoothly until a given day in June when after a regular start-up I got a blue screen with error code 0x0000001 and the message that some vital files were missing & corrupt as well, that it wasn't possible to connect to any recovery media even when the external drive was properly connected.  Restart & Novo button always resulted in a slow looped return to the same blue screen.  The only options I could still access from the Novo menu were bios & boot order (changing priority boot to ext drive didn't help a thing).  Since then I haven't been able anymore to enter windows mode.  The other regular repair/refresh/cmd etc options were no longer available or accessible. Purchased recovery software such as NeoSmart's EasyRe & Numus Software's Data-Recov-Boot-disk both managed after a very lengthy & 'clunky' process to access the system but all repair failed or was claimed impossible & recovery of data scrambled or again impossible.  EsayRe reported repeatedly the same broken/corrupted file records during the dos repair process (I forgot to take note of the exact details). Today... Hi VerDim,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

By the sound, This seems like a Bad HDD, I strongly suggest a Replacement via a warranty claim And this will also include a Recovery CD together with it.
You can call Lenovo Technical Team to get assistance with the HDD replacement

But If you want to really check the HDD first.
You can try running Seagate tools to check the HDD health and functionality.

Download the SeaTools for DOS ISO file
Use 7-Zip to open the SeaTools for DOS ISO file.
Extract the SeaTools.ima file to your hard drive.
Rename the SeaTools.ima file to SeaTools.img.
Use Image Writer for Windows to write the SeaTools.img image file to a USB drive on Windows.
Now you can boot off of this USB drive and run SeaTools for DOS.

When you run the USB to the Lenovo
