List of drivers built into Windows?

Q: List of drivers built into Windows?

Where is there a list of all the drivers already built into the various versions of Windows?

Hint: Windows "Add new hardware" wizard doesn't list them all.

Example: I would like to have a list of all video card drivers already built into Windows. I would like to have a list of all modem drivers built into Windows. I would like to have a list of all network card drivers already built into Windows.

I'm lazy and I would like to use that list to make hardware selections so when I plug them in, I don't have to load drivers; Windows loads them automatically after inserting the card and turning the computer on.

Preferred Solution: List of drivers built into Windows?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A:Built in webcam drivers in Windows 2000

Hi wumply,

Win 2000 does have built in webcam drivers, but not for all kinds of webcam in the world. So the best solution is to find drivers in the web, you just know the name, the number or manufacture of webcam, that's all. Just typing the name of webcam + driver, and you will have it.

Short intro: i'm a sysadmin and recently joined this forum. Mainly to train myself in analyzing BSOD's and whilst doing that, helping people out. Now the reason i became interested in BSOD's is because of BSOD's at work.

We use SCCM for staging. With a task-sequence, the OS, drivers and what not are being deployed.
Now, our company is fairly large +5000 employees and its structure is pretty complex. i'm not getting in to that but bottom line is that there are several IT-branches and 1 central IT branch. The central IT branch creates and maintain the staging image.

Currently we are on Windows 7. Now having said all that , our image contains old drivers.
Our main problems is with 2 USB drivers. Since the drivers our from 2013 , i know these should be updated.

Now, my question in (and i'm afraid the answer will be "no") , is there a website that lists the latest drivers (name & date) for windows 7 (or per OS for that matter?).

I can't just say, i'll enable Windows Updates and download all updates that are presented.
But these drivers should be updates i'm sure.

I have come across this tool named Snappy Driver Installer (Snappy Driver Installer)
Its free and is a sort of offline library for drivers. But i'm hesitant towards such tools. Tools like "driver booster" etc all do more harm than good and so i'm unsure about SDI as well. I did run this tool on an off-domain box and for sure it immediately pointed out (not installed nor did it suggest to... Read more

A:Is there a list with the latest Windows drivers per OS ?

The short answer has to be no.

The longer answer - there has to be an MS database for Win 10 in particular which Win 10 uses to maintain drivers (it uses a different paradigm for drivers to previous OS's). I can't imagine it's viewable.
But it doesn't always represent the 'latest' drivers for a particular device.

And as you know, manufacturers release custom drivers, particularly for laptops.

Clearly driver scanning tools (not in general recommended) make reference to some database- but again, this isn't likely to be viewable. (There's competition between these tools!)

Then there are the many sites that supposedly host drivers. And all the hardware variants and versions..

So the answer is there's no simple answer.

Hi people

I have built my very first computer, it has been a fun process up until now.

When installing windows7 professional 64 bit everything goes fine until it says
"WHERE DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL WINDOWS." = nothing is listed.

my new Hard drive (WD1002FAEX) shows up in BIOS but as the slave does this matter?
also in BIOS SATA control mode is set to IDE i have tried RAID and AHCI.

I have tried to press shift+F10 in windows install and do some of the commands but i am not 100% sure in this area

I have read alot of forums with similar symptoms. I feel like I have tried everything. Any suggestions would be great.

CPU: Intel core i5

A:built new computer, win7 pro won't list HDD

If it shows up in the BIOS, that is already a good thing. At least the connections work. I would do the following:

1. Attach it to port0
2. Format an allocate primary, active partition (suggest 100GB) with the bootable CD of this program - it is the last entry on the page.

I need to see a list of all of the drivers that are running or stopped on my computer. I know how to pull up a list in cmd prompt, but that doesn't tell me if the driver is running or if it's stopped.

I called HP for help setting up the fax portion of my new HP wireless printer. The tech remoted in and after trying something with the fax and telling me he was disconnected. Checked a few other things and showed me a window very similar to the one in the picture. It showed about 90% of my system drivers as "stopped". He wanted to run a scan and charge me $99 to fix the problem. I told him to forget it. I called for help setting up my fax, and that everything was working fine yesterday and that I sent a fax on my previous printer yesterday, without a problem. He told me that rebooting my computer wouldn't help. I told him I would try anyway then ended the remote session.

I'm convinced he did something to my computer and was trying to rip me off by charging me money to fix something he did. Yes, I am 100% sure that I was connected with Hewlett Packard. I looked up their toll free number myself and called it. I don't let just anyone remote into my computer.

What I need is a list like the one in the picture, so I can see for myself.

Like I said, I managed to see the list in CMD prompt, but it doesn't say whether the driver is running or stopped.

Hello all. My laptop used work perfectly until the day I decided to remove all the extra stuff by doing a clean install of Windows 10.  I predownloaded all the drivers I would need and then did the clean installation.  Now I have an issue with my wifi.  It randomly drops connection to wifi and is slow to start working again.  After coming out of sleep it does not automatically reconnect to the ap and I have to trigger it manually.  Separately (i think) when coming out of sleep, the login screen does not respond to the keyboard and I am forced to use the mousepad to click or a touchscreen swipe to get to the password field. What I'm seeking is an official list of drivers that are required for a clean windows 10 install on a thinkpad yoga series 20CD.  If order of installation is critical, please give this also.  I believe I downloaded everything available from the support page but just want to be sure.  Sometimes not all drivers are available when filtering by OS "Windows 10".   Thanks in advance. Laptop specs are:512gb ssdmemory card slot2.4/5 n/ac wireless 7260ac w/bluetooth

If there's no seven drivers from mfg, stick with MS's.

I'm new to building computers and new to Techspot, so I'm not sure if you can help but, we'll see. I'm planning to build my first computer within the next couple of weeks.

Therefore, if you would please, those of you who are experts, would you please look at my below list of parts and make any recommendations as to changes, additions, etc. I believe all the parts I have chosen are compatible with every other applicable part, but maybe not. I plan to over-clock.

I plan to use the computer primarily for using all the programs contained in the Adobe CS4 Master Suite Collection, and especially for capturing and editing 1080i HDV and a lot of it - many, many hours of it, and I need to do so as quickly as reasonably possible, within my budget, (<$3,500.) Will also use for rendering 3D images and video.

Any and all help, suggestions, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!

Hi all

Looking for some information. I'm replacing 3 pc's in the business I work for. We use custom software and have to remain on Windows xp to avoid issues with the database hooking correctly. We have used mostly Dell pc's to run our software, and from time to time need to reinstall Windows as needed. With the Dell systems, I wipe the partition and insert a disk, reinstall, add drivers plus our software, then I'm done. I'm considering building 3 new pc's maybe around the i5 level for workstations. I was curious if there was a way to build in the Windows XP serial number like Dell and other vendors do. Is this a specific type of main board ? A function in the bios ? I would love to be able to duplicate this, if it's possible.

Thank you

A:Windows install / vendor built vs homebrew / built in serial

You can not use the same serial number for a different computer. Its illegal. You'll need to buy a copy of Windows XP for each computer or buy a Set copy that will work on 3 different computers.

After 4 years of using a really poor prebuilt PC, I finally saved up enough money and bought parts to around $2,000 for my computer! I managed to quickly get all the parts together and installed Windows 10 Pro.
But this starts my pain train. First off, my motherboard is an ASUS PRIME Z370-P.
Upon starting, I see that my network at the bottom right hand corner of the taskbar. Simply put, I do not have access to the internet.

I have an Intel NIC, so generic Window Drivers were inadequate. I used the CD that came with my motherboard and downloaded the drivers. (I then also went to the website and downloaded the updated ones. No such luck.)

The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled, Please plug cable.

I need at least the Chipset Drivers and LAN drivers. However, even if I fiddle in Device Managers, Network Adapters is gone from the list. Now, only the PCI Memory Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, and SM Bus Controller appear under "Other Devices" and they get patched when I update drivers. Except the PCI Simple Communications Controller.

So I need to find the Realtek Network Controller Driver, before my Realtek Ethernet Controller Drive can install.

Any help and suggestions is appreciated!

I'm looking for a USB WiFi adaptor that I can plug into a Win7 box and it will work without downloading or installing any new drivers. i.e., Drivers are included with Win7 and the adapter will work just by plugging it in.

I want to be able to use it on newly imaged machines to get them on network fast and download updates, etc., without having to carry around extra flash drives, discs, etc.

As an example, I have a Verizon Jetpack that I can just plug into Win7 and it comes right up without installing anything. Though, I'd rather not use my data when WiFi is available.

I've been searching the 'net for about an hour or so and just can't find any useful answers. Any recommendations?

I installed Arduino software, part of which included installing a number of drivers. I uninstalled the software using the internal software uninstall feature. Apparently it removed the drivers, but for some reason they still show up in the Windows install/uninstall list. I try to uninstall them using the Windows uninstaller, but I get an error stating that the drivers are not there (at that address). The problem is, I cannot re-install the drivers, because for some reason they still show as being installed by the Windows installer and the software refuses to re-install.

So, how do I remove a file name from the install/uninstall list on Windows 10? A file name for a file that is already deleted?

A:Cannot Uninstall Drivers from Install/Uninstall List - Windows 10

Hi, Geek uninstaller (free) offers a range of removal options if you right click an entry.

However, you may have parts of the program left over.

1. Does the program's site offer a manual uninstaller or uninstall instruction?
2. Check the various folders that may have been created when you installed it for leftovers.
(Try Locate32 (free) - let it index all your files then you can quickly check for anything related to the name of your program on a find-as -you-type basis).
If you find any exe's left over, then use
Revo (free)
to force uninstall these.

Your problem will be knowing if anything is left over that you don't want.

Finally you can search the registry.
Try Regscanner (free) as this lists all found unlike Regedit which is 1 by 1.

Create a system restore point or back up your registry and delete remnants.

Good luck!

Alright so the other day I noticed my mic wasn't working while on Skype (was kind of obvious). I started looking into a fix asap, but was coming across nothing that could help. My last option I could think to try was to uninstall my audio drivers and re-install like so many had recommended and guess where that got me... That's right, deleted my audio drivers for my built-in output. So now I have no input, or output   After taking a breather, I went to the drivers section of Dell's main site. In there I used the proper detection system and so forth to track down my specific audio drivers. Guys, and girls, I have done this process over 8 times now at the least.. Every time I have tried to re-install my proper audio drivers I get nothing in return. I've been to "Device Manager" countless times, checked the "Sound" section countless times, HECK even completely reset my laptop back to factory settings; and nothing.. Am I doomed folks? Just give it to me straight if I am

- Dell Inspiron 15 7k Gaming
Attempted Fixes:
- Everything possible in Device Manager section
- Constantly checking "Sound" section
- Resetting computer to factory
- Over 8 attempts of re-installing proper audio drivers
- Contacting Dell support with no luck in fixes

I have Windows 8 32-bit Professional running on Motion Computing C5 CFt-001 with a built in bluetooth card/Wifi combo (i guess).

I need to install broadcom or toshiba stack on it to enable bluetooth pairing with my headphones and portable speaker, which right now does not get detected in pairing mode.

I have tried uninstalling the devices from the device manager (Enumerator and Radio) and then renaming the BTF.INF and BTH.PNF files for the windows to let me install drivers and stack of my choice. However whenever I rescan the hardware (after removal of standard builtin drivers) , the old BTH (inf/pnf) files get restored automatically and are selected for the bluetooth installation. Dont know how to circumvent this auto installation.

Can anyone please guide me how to do the needful and also post the download link for the reliable third party bluetooth stack working in Windows 8./8.1

Greetings! I almost always try to research, and find previous people with similiar problems, go about the routes instructed by others to follow, and normally I can fix it myself without having to pay someone to do it for me.

But, unfortunally, I am stuck, lost clueless... I would shell out some $$$ but I already forked over too much this week, in attempts to rebuild my once powerful rig.

Once night, after 5 hours of stressful, late hours in adobe... My computer froze, and I haven't saved my progress in along time... I tried to quickly restart the computer, but it came to a pause during startup and stood there. I was a bit drunk, and extremely pissed... I then did the worst thing possible, and lived in regret since... I picked up the entire computer, (with the side panel off), and slammed it on the ground... I then punched the inside, a good 3-4 times, mostly right at the CPU heatsink area... I was very pissed, then went to bed... The next morning my computer was dead, wouldnt boot up. Ok, so thats how I got into this mess... And don't worry guys, really, I don't drink anymore... That was the day I quit, when I lost my egxpensive desktop.

Now, I am stuck at buying a new pc, or trying to fix this. I decided I was going to try and fix it. So without it starting up, I went out and bought a 750W Thermaltake Power Supply. Went home, installed it... It was power up for about 3 seconds, then off... I tried pulling the ram out, leavine one stick in... Same thing, I t... Read more

Alright here's my story:
A friend of mine during the week bought everything she needed to make her own computer. She set it all up with a friend and computer worked fine. She installed Windows 7, installed all the drivers for the motherboard (an Asus P8Z77 VLE PLUS), and when we got to the video card driver the computer would install it, but upon reboot it would not continue on to the main Start Screen. It would become stuck and would either stay blank or would be stuck at the Windows startup screen. The computer kept running but the picture wouldn't show up on the monitor. She was then told that perhaps it was a problem with the graphic card. It was a EVGA GeForce GTX 650 2GB graphic card. So she returned it and got an XFX Radeon HD 7750 2GB card which was a bit unusual since it is compatible with PCI ports. But even then the same problem would persist. If anyone has had this problem before and can answer it please help if you can.

Full information:

You may also want to install your AMD drivers without the Catalyst Control Center/Vision Engine Control Center software. Download the version of ATI drivers that you want to install, and then do the following steps. Start the installation program to install your drivers and ATI software. When you get to the option to Express/Custom install, cancel the installation. Your drivers should now exist in C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc where the x's replace your version number of the driver software.
Uninstall all AMD software related to your graphics card by uninstalling AMD Catalyst Install Manager in Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program

I had some weird problems after upgrading to Win10 so I did a clean reinstall. Most things got better, but some (very unexpectedly) got worse. I would like to compare the list of drivers I had installed prior to the reinstall to the list I have installed now. I doubt my new problems are driver related, but I'd like to be sure.

For the "Now" list I know I can look at each device in the Device Manager and copy down the driver information, but that's pretty tedious. Is there a utility that lists them? And can I find that information in backup taken prior to the reinstall? I have an Acronis backup that I can browse, but I don't know how to identify the drivers. (I could, of course, restore my PC back to that level to collect the list, but I'd rather not do that unless I have to.)

BTW, the problem I'm having is with a program that loads hundreds fairly small files from disk (SSD). Prior to reinstall the program would load them all with no noticeable pauses. After the reinstall it loads them in spurts with pauses in between. What used to take about 30 seconds now takes 3 to 4 times longer. On another PC - an old one I use for testing - this same problem showed up when I installed Win10 but was cured with a reinstall. It's frustrating to have the opposite happen on the PC I use daily.

A:How to get a list of istalled drivers?

Not a full solution but you could always try Sysinternals Autoruns. You get a row of tabs across the top one of which is drivers. It's downloadable from here Autoruns for Windows

It could be a good starting point for you. No installation is required you just create a directory and unzip Autoruns to it.

I have a Pavilion DV7-3164cl and the battery won't charge.  It seems to be completely dead.  The notebook seems to work fine using the AC charger.  Searching the internet, it seems like several folks have fixed their battery problems by updating the firmmware.  My macine is using Version F.14 and I'm thinking that there might be a later level out there.  When I go to support, drivers and enter my machine type, it shows that there is only 1 driver available and it's to update to Windows 10.I am already running Windows 10.  What is the latest bios level for my system and where can I find it?  I'd like to try it before buying new batteries or sending the notebook in for service.

A:How to get a list of installed drivers?

Not a full solution but you could always try Sysinternals Autoruns. You get a row of tabs across the top one of which is drivers. It's downloadable from here Autoruns for Windows

It could be a good starting point for you. No installation is required you just create a directory and unzip Autoruns to it.

I was wondering if there was a program or IE addon that changes your proxy. I have one that is a drop down menu (is a IE toolbar) but I have to add proxy's to it manually. Is there a program/toolbar that has a list already set inside the program or one that reads a text document (So I can paste the list of proxies in, not enter each one in manually).

I have seen a few posts of people trying to get a list together of sound cards that WILL work in Win7. Surely the moderator could compile and forward this request to MS to see what they have to say? I mean, we can't all be dumb! They also can't expect us to throw away our expensive cards just because there are no drivers. Of course, it's not MS's fault that a third party manufacturer doesn't update their drivers, and we all expect Creative Labs to drop us like a hot stone once they have our cash in their greedy little paws, but there HAS to be a solution somewhere? (Solution 1: make mental note not to buy Creative Labs *anything*, and I'm basing this on experience stretching back a bit).
My sound is from an onboard chip, so I will probably have to purchase a new card just to get sound. I have tried everything: BIOS enable/disable audio, get drivers from the Fujitsu site for a SCALEO 800s (you try that one...good luck), uninstall Win7 updates, move IRQs around, allow ESCD reset in BIOS, XP compatibility mode...no luck. The chip is a Sis 7012 with ESS ES1968 Maestro-2, according to those lovely driver update applications that are all FREE until you have to put in your credit card; you know the type.
The only thing hardware manufacturers CAN design and implement properly is a cash register, because that's all they seem to want. Once you've made the purchase, they don't want anything to do with you. MS, please come to the rescue with the following:

I started experiencing a problem with Drivers on my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop recently. About a week ago when I wanted to insert an SD card into my computer slot, I noticed that there is no space for this drive as the devices & drivers list is completely filled up with some unknown BD ROM drives from D: to Z:, (C: is my harddisc). I went through some threads where I learnt that this usually happens after an installation of some Virtual Drive emulators such as Daemon Tools and others. The problem is I don't have any of those programs installed on my laptop and if I remember well I never had. As there is no space for other drive I can't access my phone, sd card or usb flash disc. I hear a sound that the laptop actually recognised the drive, but it won't appear in the list

Tech specifications of my laptop:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 3818 Mb
Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, 1973 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 304692 MB, Free - 188614 MB;
Motherboard: LENOVO, 3358AN3
Antivirus: Windows Defender, Disabled

Thanks for any further advice,

Hi,I have some 'File[s] not found' in my Autoruns list. I don't know why they are missing. I have recently had a virus infection, so could it be that the files were deleted by Anti-Virus? Anyway, since it says they are drivers, are they required or recommended? Is it safe to right click and delete them? Or should I find the files and replace them? If so, how?Changer File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Changer.sysWDICA File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\WDICA.sysPCIDump File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PCIDump.sysPDCOMP File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDCOMP.sysPDFRAME File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDFRAME.sysPDRELI File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDRELI.sysPDRFRAME File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDRFRAME.syslbrtfdc File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\lbrtfdc.syscmdAgentCOMODO Firewall Pro Helper Service File not found: Files\COMODO\Firewall\cmdagent.exe" (I have Comodo Firewall installed, what might be wrong?)The last 'File not found' seems puzzling to me- I have Comodo Firewall installed and running. I don't know why the file is missing...Looking for any thoughts.P.S. In the meantime I have unticked the box next to these files. Thanks,Juha

A:Autoruns 'file Not Found' List (drivers)

File not found means that the file that that entry points to isn't where it's supposed to be - so it won't load when the computer starts up.

If the computer is working fine now, I'd suggest just leaving them there for a while before deleting them.

As for the Comodo - I'm not real familiar with it - but the entry seems to be for a "helper", not for the program itself. Have you tried opening up the Comodo control panel to see if you can access the tools there?

Not knowing what damage was done by the virus, I'd have to suggest uninstalling the Comodo firewall and reinstalling a freshly downloaded copy.

Good People,
Ever want a list of or need to now which/what 3rd party drivers are installed?

Go to an elevated command prompt and type:
dism /online /get-drivers

and hit enter.

If you don't have dism on you computer, then it is part of the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK).

I'm probably going to have to do a complete re-install of Win Vista 64-bit SP2 on my laptop, in order to get IIS completely working. In preparation for doing the complete re-install I'd like to know how to get a complete list of devices on my system which require drivers. If possible I'd like to make copies of all of the drivers I currently have in order to more easily re-install all of the device drivers during or after the OS has been re-installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been trying to find drivers to inject into my MDT 2013 to create the boot media needed for deployment. The  ONLY file that is offered in the support area is a README file about setting up WAKE ON LAN.  This is unhelpful, is there another place to find the drivers necessary?  Must be an ethernet driver, not a wireless driver, as an image can not be deployed over wireless.

(NOTE:  Links open in a new tab.)
In the TechNet article
here I see reference to a schema v.2 for the EMIE tool. It will apparently spit out the xml using the new version 2 of the schema. But the download link only goes to downloads for Win7/8 (schema v.1), and I cannot find any reference to where I can obtain
the Windows 10 version.
For example,
this article specifically references a Windows 10 version, where
this one references Windows 7 and 8.  Finding the Windows 10 version has proven impossible so far.
We have several sites which need to be opened in IE instead of Edge, and using our old Enterprise Mode site list is not working on our Windows 10 clients.
Current site list example:
<rules version="4">
          <domain exclude="false">www.contoso.com</domain>

Reading about the
v.2 schema leads me to think that the output from the tool is incorrect.  The documentation suggests that the output for Windows 10 should be:

<site-list version="205">
  <site url="www.contoso.com">

Or am I missing something here?

Hello!I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition with Windows 8 as it's default operating system. Since I don't like it that much, I plan to format the hard drive (by going into computer-> Right click on C: -> Format) and then to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on it.After the clean installation procedure, I was wondering if I could simply insert the Dell Drivers and Utilities disc into the optical drive and intall the drivers like I would normally do.Therefore, the real question would be: Will the Windows 8 drivers provided by Dell be compatible with Windows 7?Thank you very much everyone.FatLord

A:Planning to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 7. Will the drivers provided on my Dell "Drivers and Utilities" be comp...

I did find this one "Inspiron 15R SE 7520" If that is your model then the Dell website has Windows 7 64bit drivers and Windows 8 64 bit drivers available for download.

I would use the Windows 7 Drivers for windows 7, Just download them ahead of time and burn them to a CD or store on a flash drive so you will have them handy to use.

I would also have my Antivirus ready to install before I went on the Internet.

3rd point. Windows will prevent you from formatting the drive it is installed on. So you have to do it during the install process.

Good Luck
