Show cpu and ram usage in taskbar?

Q: Show cpu and ram usage in taskbar?

I would like to be able to monitor my cpu usage and physical ram usage in the task bar, much like how windows 7 has a desktop gadget.
Google search has told me to use task manager, and to check the "hide when minimized" option, and it'll display the square green and black meter.
But for some reason when I tried to add a shortcut to task manager to my startup folder, that little graph never shows up anymore.

Also in the past, when I installed windows media center on my desktop, there was a little icon added that was black/green/yellow/red that monitored cpu usage. I can't seem to find that..
So does anyone know of a program that can monitor cpu usage AND physical ram? I'd appreciate it.

Preferred Solution: Show cpu and ram usage in taskbar?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Show cpu and ram usage in taskbar?

Goto C:\Windows\System32 and right click the taskmgr.exe and create a shortcut.

Cut and paste that on your desktop.

When you activate it and then minimize it, you get the little green icon in the Task bar.

My taskbar icons next to my clock will not show up anymore! I am on my notebook, and I want the sound and battery icons to show up there, but they won't anymore. I enable them, disable them, apply, restart, it doesn't matter, they won't come back. The only icons that show now are messenger, my touchpad icon, and daemon-tools. I noticed it happened after i went to task manager and closed all the processe opened by my user name in order to try to get a game to start (thats what the tech guy told me to do) Now, now mater what I do, I can't get my icons back. Hi,
This symptom has been described here, but I have not seen any solution: Programs don't show on the taskbar of windows XP Pro Sp1a.

I have run full system scan of NAV and Housecall - clean apart from bytverify which is uncleanable (MS patch was applied for the VM problem).
I have run spybot and all is clean.
I have made all verifications regarding the greeting virus - clean

BTW, the other users that I have on this machine show normal behavior.

I have a gateway notebook running Windows XP. There are 2 user accounts, each with administrative rights. I recently installed SP2, defragged the hard drive, and cleaned up some spyware and adware with spybot and adaware. I am also running Norton Anti-Virus and all definitions are up-to-date. (This is my college daughter's computer). All ran fine after doing this, but after the next boot, the taskbar completely disappeared. I was finally able to get it back, but only by selecting the quick launch toolbar. If I deselect the quick launch tool bar, the whole taskbar goes away. The real problem is that programs no longer show up on the taskbar when they are opened (Word, Excel, IE, Trillian, etc). And, if I open a program, and then minimize it, it goes away completely as though it were closed, but if I open task manager, the application is still running. I have to close the applications from task manager. The really odd thing is that this is only happening on one of the user accounts (my daughter's). The other user account is functioning normally. Short of creating an additional user account or using system restore and starting all over, does anyone have any ideas on how to repair this? Thank you.

Hi!

I was sick of windows and decided to switch to linux. I found amazing linux distribution which is called Elementary OS Freya and looks just amazing. Really nice and minimalist. Unfortunately I'm an 3D artist so I'm a software dependent so I can't use linux because the support for programs is horrible. Even though I managed to get Maya working on linux I've got wrong drivers for my AMD graphics card. I tried downloading drivers from AMD web page, but those drivers made my computer to crash and I had to restore linux and try again. So I was pointless because even graphic drivers wasn't working at all, so I had to switch back. Windows is really good, stable and reliable OS and the program support is amazing, but I'm just got tired of all the same looks. It's just so annoying. Lets take file explorer for example. There's a lot of buttons and everything that nobody's using and it just looks horrible and you have to customize shit out of it to get rid of all that stuff. So as you may have understood I'm trying to make Windows 10 look more simple, minimalist and eye-catching. Linux has this amazing thing that you can change desktop environment. For example Freya OS is basically Ubuntu, but with different desktop environment. Ubuntu's using Unity and Freya's using Pantheon. And the thing is, that if you want to get the looks of Freya OS on Ubuntu you don't have to reinstall your OS. You just install different desktop environment and boom, as soon as you restart your pc Ubuntu lo... Read more

A:Do not show running programs on taskbar

So since I've got no help I continued on searching and found a program called QuickHide which hides all the applications from taskbar which was exactly what I was looking for. With that program I could use Dock instead of taskbar and programs don't appear on a taskbar. However, there's nothing perfect and controls of that program sucked. You start the program, then you press CTRL for hiding the icons and Shift for showing icons again. So guess what happens when you write and press Shift for typing capital letters, yes, the icons reappear which was disappointing. But if you would press End key then the program would terminate. And if you pressed End while icons where hidden it doesn't matter if you press shift or whatever, icons doesn't show up again which is perfect. So I did a lil bit more research and put together a simple Visual Basic script which, on startup, launch QuickHide.exe then waits for a 5 seconds because my pc is a bit laggy at startup so I need like 5 secs to be sure that program is running, then script simulates CTRL and End keys. So basically script runs QuickHide, then hides icons and the terminates program. Which is perfect, because when you start any program from dock, nothing appars on the taskbar. So if you want to have the same thing I'm putting the script here under my text and I'm attaching the screenshot showing dock, programs running but not showing on a taskbar.

Cheers,

Ive been searching the internet all last night and today and found absolutely nothing that matches my problem.

Im trying to fix someones computer, it had been hit with a virus, and would close internet explorer whenever you would open it. Simple enough, used windows explorer to go online and download a better antivirus than what they had, and got rid of the virus easy enough.

The main problem, is that their taskbar doesnt display at all. I mean, the clock shows up fine, but no taskbar icons appear. Some will say to check if they are hidden, they arent. In fact, where the checkbox is, to hide inactive icons, that and the Customize... button are both grayed out, I cant click them.

Ive tried the fix someone recommended from Kelly's Corner, and it only succeeded in tripling the time it takes for the computer to boot. This computer has XP Pro SP2 on it, and I have no idea how to fix it. I was told it was in the registry, but I have no idea how to fix it if it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a awy to make it so Windows 8.1 does not show any of the Modern Apps in the taskbar?

For instance, I like to keep NotePad8, Weather and some others running, but I don't want them taking up Taskbar realestate since (as far as I'm aware at least), those Modern apps will remain open until I close them for good by moving to the upper left part of the screen.

So, if anyone knows of any methods I could try to do this, I would be all ears! I suspect there's probably something I could do in the registry, and if there is, maybe someone could attach a .reg file for me.

I'm also attaching a screencap of what I'm talking about.

Is there is a way to do this.
Before when I was on Windows XP,I was using a program called VisualTaskTips which had an option to display a preview of the window like here in Win7 and I had an option to choose how fast to see the preview once I point over the taskbar button(for the window).
The preview was set to be displayed instantly(it really was instantly)and when I move the mouse to another button in the taskbar,I had a preview of the next window instantly.

Currently on Win7 there is a delay before showing the window(I fix that with some guide from here...don't remember the link),delay before showing the next window when I move the mouse and kinda long delay before closing the preview window.

Even when I get the CPU usage down < 5%, I can still hear it. Also, when I disconnect it from the outlet; the battery drains FAST. Hi!

I bought a new desktop last year to run high-end software used for my degree; I installed Windows 8 on it, having got on with it on my laptop. I did notice though, after venturing into the Task Manager, that my CPU usage was at 100%. All the time. Even when idle. In fact, resource monitor says it's working at 108% load! I thought this was rather odd, so investigated further:

It appears that task manager divides the 100% usage proportionally between the processes using the CPU. So for example if Firefox, Word and Notepad were using 5%, 3% and 2% respectively, Task Manager would report 50%, 30% and 20% usage. I was initially concerned that my processor was going to take some serious damage to its life expectancy if it was being constantly loaded - but the performance monitor in Norton Anti-virus shows the CPU load to be much, much lower - where I'd expect it to be.

My system is an 3.4GHz i7, with 16GB RAM running 64-bit Windows 8 Pro. People have suggested a fresh install, but it's an almighty pain backing everything up and re-installing VPN servers and software through various security measures, so I'd rather not...

Any clues?

I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 and I tried to unhide the taskbar by voice the only way I can get it to come up was to say "start menu" but that takes the focus away from any window that is open either maximize or minimize the only way I can get control of any window was with a mouseclick by voice.

Is there a way to make only certain programs show their text in the Windows 7 taskbar? Under normal circumstances, I still want to use icon view, but some programs use their title bars to show information that I would like to see. Is there a registry tweak or anything to do this for those specific programs?

I looked through the tutorials but couldn't find anything related to this...

I just recently started having issues where if I click on a program in the taskbar, instead of it coming to the front, the icon in the task bar just blinks. If I click on it multiple times it will sometimes come to the front. I also can not right click on programs in the taskbar. Although I can right click on the taskbar itself. Alt-Tab will bring programs to the front. Also, when the logon screen appears, such as when I come out of screensaver mode, the logon box is flashing as well, i cannot begin typing my password until I alt-tab or click on the logon box, even though my cursor is blkinking in the password field. Spybot and Norton Antivirus run daily and come back clean. Only recent changes have been microsoft updates, Firefox updates and installing activesync for my Windows Moblile 6.1 phone. I have found similar posts (with no resolution) dating back to 2007. This is not the same issues as enabling drag and drop in the taskbar properties. This is really beginning to frustrate me.

A:Solved: Programs in taskbar don't show when clicked

Perhaps this could be of some service.

I was infected with a scare-ware..I dont remember what it was called. I managed to get rid of that with spybot, but I am still experiencing some problems. For instance, when i boot up windows I dont have any desktop icons or the bar on the bottom with the start button.
Sometimes task manager doesn't work making it difficult to do anything at all. My internet cuts out entirely at times and I cant open any new connections but previously established connections remain open like ventrillo. I've used malwarebytes anti-malware, spybot search an destroy, and I also have avg installed.

Before much can be done about the malware removal, we need to establish how best you are able to use your computer at this stage.Windows Advanced Options MenuGetting into Windows Safe Modehttp://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htmFrom the Windows Advanced Options Menu, please try the following ...Choose "Last known good configuration that worked", and press <ENTER>. The computer will attempt to load Windows. If Windows does not start normally, try the same thing again .... and continue trying for 10 times, before you rule that option out as a means of getting your OS running normally. Why 10 times? Based on past experience, a successful result is sometimes achieved after several consecutive failed attempts. You can log in to Windows normally, but you end up looking at your desktop wallpaper/background image (not a plain blue or black screen?), but without icons/taskbar/start button. Is this correct? You implied that task manager works only sometimes (and I am guessing that you have been using Ctrl+Alt+Del): Does Ctrl+Shift+Esc bring up the Task Manger window reliably? Please try the following ...On the Applications tab of the Task Manager window, click on "New Task", and in the "Run" dialog box that opens type "explorer.exe" and press <ENTER>.Does a Windows Explorer window open, and can you use it to browse all the files on your computer?OR ... do you see a message? What happens when you attempt to start the system in Safe Mode... Every once and a while my Taskbar (set to auto hide) won't appear when I move the mouse to the left side of screen where my Taskbar is. No big deal, but have to hit Ctrl - Esc to activate it. Then it's ok 'tll the next time.

Wouldn't it be easier to just tap the Window key instead?

Excuse me, I'd like to ask for helping. I have a windows 7 in Asus 64bit. When I open a program, it won't visible in taskbar and when I minimize it, the minimized programs are shown outside the taskbar. Please help to solve it so that the opened program can visible in the taskbar. Thank you

A:opened and minimized program won't show in taskbar

Hi Meida, welcome to the Seven Forums.

I think the culprit is the Explorer process. To fix it you should run Windows system File Checker (SFC), see tutorial for instructions: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker.

How to make my taskbar show full name of a program if it has space to do it?
Like this:

Don't mind Vista theme, its XP.

A:How to make taskbar show full name of a program

Hover the mouse cursor over it. No other way I know of. May be some 3rd party tool but I haven't looked.
