I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, When I am trying to start my laptop by pressing the power button, the laptop is not booting.I am not able to see the lenovo logo itself. For a moment, the webcam and DVD drived LEDs blink and after that its just black screen.Power LED shows power is ok and even the LED on left side of the Power LED also gets on. This issue I am facing for the past few days. It used to start after many attempts (Hard shutdown and again pressing the power button), but now its not coming up. I ran the diagnostics and it didn't give any issues. Also, when I am pressing the one key recovery, that time also its the same issue. I have also tried other solutions like removing the battery and press the power button for 30 secs and try again, running the laptop on direct line after removing the battery etc but of no use.  Any guesses ?? Thanks in advance.

Hello all, trying to fix a computer for a friend, but not sure what the problem is yet. I believe it is either the switch that detects when the laptop is closed being broken or where the LCD screen connector reaches the mother board. But I am hoping to eliminate all other options before opening it up. So this is what I have tried so far:-Unplug the battery, detach power, hold the power button down for 20 seconds, put the battery back in, power up. The hard drive spins up, the indicator light comes on, but the screen doesnt power up. I plugged it into an external monitor, and the external monitor works, but the on board lcd screen does not.-I did the same as above, but instead of putting the battery back in, I just plugged it in and had the same results as above.-I have also held a flashlight to the screen to make sure that the backlight is not the issue, and even with a bright light to the screen I still cannot see anythingSo like I said, not sure what the issue is. They have had the computer for several years so I am assuming it is out of warranty. I currently have it plugged into an external monitor and am running Lenovo's hardware diagnostics program on it. Once again I am assuming it either has something to do the switch that turns the screen on and off when you close the laptop, or with the connector that runs from the lcd to the motherboard. Hoping you guys might be able to help out!

I've tried turning off the function key shortcut from the bios but the problem was reversed. the shift key works with those keys(tyasdfjkl) but not with the other letters. I have updated all the drivers and the bios. I am currently using windows 10. I have tried using keyboard tester online. it shows that some keys wont work when the shift key is pressed and hold.

Hello dear Lenovo community, I've been having a problem regarding an HDD caddy for about two months now. After deciding I wanted to make my G510 a little bit faster, I bought a Kingston 240GB SSD (don't think the brand is needed) to put instead of the SSHD I previously had. Of course 240 GB is not that much. I only wanted it for the Windows partition. So, I also bought an HDD caddy to put it instead of the ODD (Optical Disk Drive). So far so good. Everything came and I made the swap. The SSD inside the original place of my SSHD and then I removed the ODD to put the HDD caddy with the SSHD in it. The problem is, it is not recognized when booting. The laptop just hangs/freezes at the Lenovo logo. I tried to switch places (SSHD in its original place and SSD in HDD caddy) and to my suprise, both of the drives were recognized, but I could not format my SSD and access it whatsoever. I discovered a workaround where I put the ODD tray back in, start Windows from the SSD, then while booted and loaded, I take the ODD tray out and insert the HDD caddy with the SSHD. Then, Intel Rapid Storage recognizes it and my drives are correctly shown. The problem is when I shutdown the laptop and turn it back on, I go back to my first problem, which is freezing Lenovo logo. The only way I can work with this, is if I just restart or put the laptop in Stand by. Even when I put it in Stand-by, sometimes the SSHD gets disconnected and I have to do the ODD tray thing again. Do you have an... Read more

Greetings,I had a very good experience in solving issues last time I visited the forum. I hope you will help me now too.I have a Lenovo G510 20238 Notebook, Windows 8.1 x64. I always install drivers from the official website. However, when I try to install bluetooth driver it says "No appropriate driver to be installed". I have tried different versions of bluetooth drivers, and even changed energy manager of 8.1 to the version of windows 7 (It helped previous time). The bluetooth service is set to start automatically on  every logon. I even tried to install dual boot Zorin OS, because usually Ubuntu OS doens't need drivers. However, even it couldn't find appropriate driver. Neither bluetooth is shown in device manager and PC settings, nor it can be added through legacy hardware in device manager. I will be glad to share any additional information if requiered. Please help me fix this issue.

Hello dear forumities,

This is my first post, and yes I confess I didnt use the search option, but I am just frustrated because of not finding a solution for over a week on the net and finally I decided to ask here.

I own a G510 laptop with dual GPU
One is Intel HD 4800 bla bla.. The other one is AMD R7 M265

Recently I bought a new external monitor and plugged it from HDMI port of my laptop.
I am using that laptop mostly for games, and from the first moment I realised the graphics are not good.
I couldt play my games on high settings like I play on the laptop. The fps goes down the toilet.
First I thought because the monitor is 26" and my max resolution cannot reach 1080p on laptop screen but can on monitor, it is hard for the GPUs to render that images on the monitor. But after a while the laptop started having heating problems, and after that `GPU device stopped and restarted` errors.

Finally after a week and trying every possible software solutions, like drivers, installing, uninstalling etc etc...
I finally discovered that my AMD GPU doesnt work with monitor. The image on the monitor comes form intel HD GPU only.. AMD doesnt work.. simple.. When I go back to playing on laptop screen, everything goes back to normal.

Can you guys give me a solution for this...

Thanks in advance...

Hello, Since two months or so I can't use my Lenovo G510 properly, because it keeps crashing and acting strange. I updated the drivers as far as I know and the harddrive scan told me theres nothing wrong with my system. I did a virus check and couldn't find anything. I get blue screens with a diversity of errors, the system sometimes deletes my games, programs or bootes in some sort of "safe mode" in which my laptop looks like it has been taken back to the fabric configuration and has deleted everything (after restarting it's back to my current desktop , and I get all my programs and files back like nothing happened), and there are times in which my system won't boot at all. I start, it loads 5 seconds and turns off. I am clueless and at the point of throwing the thing through the window. I really hope someone here can tell me what might be wrong and what to do to fix this problem. I made some photos of the crashes and put one of them in here so you can see what those errors are. It's dutch, I'm sorry for that but the text says: "There's a problem with this computer and it has to be rebooted. Errordata will be collected, then the computer will be restarted." Sincerely,Graciousgirl.

I almost never shut my laptop down completely. Instead, I set my laptop up to sleep while not in use. Recently, there have been several occasions when I would attempt to wake it up and the webcam light and the lights on the front of the laptop come on, but the screen would not. In these instances, I would push the power button to put the laptop back to sleep, close the laptop, reopen it, and hit the power button to wake it up again. Most times, the screen would come back on, however, more recently I would have to repeat these steps multiple times before the screen would come back on. Now, the screen won't come on at all, no matter how many times I turn it off completely and retry. You might note that the external HDMI connection DOES still work and everything seems to work fine through an external monitor (just not my laptop screen), so I am wondering if this means that the screen has gone bad and if this means the gpu is okay. After poking around on these forums, I attempted severaI fixes, but none seem to have worked. I shined a flashlight (or "torch" for europeans..) at an angle to see if the screen is just extremely dimly lit, but I've verified that it is completely black with no activity there. I tried removing the battery, holding the power button for 20 seconds and rebooting--no dice. I even removed and reseated the RAM and checked the ribbon connection to the screen. I saw somewhere that I might need to reset the BIOS, however I can't seem to get to the BIOS usin... Read more

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

According to your model's User Guide the replacement of the hard drive, memory or wireless card is considered CRU activities.  In otherwords those parts can be serviced by the consumer which means you can also remove the back cover without fear of voiding warranty.  Since the fan is now accessible when the cover is removed.... have fun cleaning.  If you use compressed air to clean,  remember to use short bursts of air as prolong blasts may damage the fan's bearings.

For your reference, here is a link to that User Guide......

A:Pink Lines in Lenovo G510 LCD

Hi shanalikhan ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to isolate if the issue was due to graphics chip and driver or localized in the LCD and cable.
Connect an external monitor and see if the lines are there.
Check also if the lines are visible in the BIOS (turn on pc using the Novo Button instead of the power )

Update us how it goes.

Hello, I'm having trouble with my CD/DVD Drive on my Lenovo G510. I uninstalled it because it wasn't detected by my laptop and I thought it would reinstall itself. However, to my surprise, it doesn't even exist anymore on the laptop. It's not hidden, it's completely gone. I've tried a lot of stuff and none of it has worked and I see there's no driver available anywhere. I desperately need help and have been trying to look for a solution for hours and have come up with nothing.

The laptop screen flickers and has random flashing lines. The HMDI & VGA out displays work on an external monitor. Help
