Cant find connection device?

Q: Cant find connection device?

Ok, here is they story. I got a new laptop and while it was on the docking station accidentally unplugged the cord. The computer froze and i shut it down and turned it back on, alright. Now I go to connect to my dial up provider and in the white action log box in the upper left hand corner I get the message..."the connection device assigned to this phone number or connection was now found". I can not sign onto the internet now . I do not know what happened here. I assume its something modem oriented...I don't know how to fix it or where to go to fix it. Please, all help is appreciated and detailed steps would help because I am a noob.

Preferred Solution: Cant find connection device?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Cant find connection device?

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

Let's also see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

In Win7 I'd do Device Manager > Imaging Devices > USB 2.0 PC Camera to find my USB WebCam and activate it and de-activate the monitor's built-in camera.

But in Win10 Device Manager has no listing for Imaging Devices.
Where in Win10 can I enable and disable webcams?

It was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 10 but then the so called, Windows Explorer was so bad, I had to go back to "7" to get anything done.

It worked fine up to the upgrade. Now that I am back to "7" it can only find my USB CD/DVD/Blu-ray drive. Not the one built-in.

The net says to look into the BIOS and there is nothing in there for a CD/DVD drive except the GROUP is there and enabled.

As a result, it will not open, can not find, etc. I did not think Windows 10 would do anything to the PC BIOS but it worked before the upgrade.

Think this is a indication the drive is bad? It is several years old.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is or where to look?

I downloaded the HP Easy Start from the website, and follow the instruction to the connect part. After I pressed Join, it start to process the device setting and restore the internet stuff like that. But then it popped up a window says' cannot find device. The device was not found on your wireless network. Click Wait to continue searching, or click Reconfigure to start the configuration again from the beginning. Click Cancel to select another device.' and then I selected Wait, but the same situation came up again. And the Wireless light next to the button stays on. But I disconnected the Wifi before setting up the printer.

I have read and tried other fixes for this on this forum. None work however. A friend shipped me a used computer. During shipment a wire had come off the main HD. I did try to start the machine without knowing the wire was off. I got the "bootdevice" message. After talking with my friend I found and replaced the wire. I tried doing a "repair" using F8 but no luck. I can however use the option to "start my computer using the last known etc." Everything works fine, but when I shut the machine off I get the "can't find bootdevice" again when I restart. What do I have to change in my bios settings to make the machine boot normally?
Thanks in advance.
Bob G.

A:W7 cannot find boot device.

Very interesting. Can you make sure that there's nothing else set to boot first? Check your boot sequence. This may not be the solution but I'd recommend just making sure.

I think I've seen something like this happen before but it was trying to boot from another device besides the hard drive. Interesting to see any responses here.

I have windows 98 when I start my computer it does its usual process but then I always get a black screen that say's:

Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application.

The windows registry or system.ini files refers to this device file but the device file no longer exsists.

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

Press a key to continue

I have to hit a key for the black screen to go away and to be able to use the computer. It is frustrating.

I appreciate any tips you may be able to offer.

Hello! Recently i purchased a bluetooth speaker, so I wanted to connect it to my Lenovo P50. According to specifications, Lenovo P50 comes with some integrated Bluetooth 4.1 or 4.2. I installed the recommended drivers from Lenovo website but didn't worked. Then i went to Intel website and found the exact model of the hardware and downloaded their driver, but again there is no Bluetooth device available in either "devices" or "device manager" of windows 10 Anniversary Edition with all updates. I've also tried Speccy to inspect the hardware, but again no mention of bluetooth whatsoever. Also, I've checked windows Services and made sure that all Bluetooth related services are running. Do you have any suggestion on what else can I do? Is there any chance that bluetooth is disabled in bios? btw, i have some bios related problem too, so I cannot access the bios settings (they are all greyed out due to some security features i enabled and now i am locked out). thanks

Hey guys,

Am trying to build my first PC with a Asus P8Z68M motherboard I have managed to get it all going but when I start it up its says - Using PCIE Gen 2 - cant find any device. What does this mean? Also, why does the PC beep at me whilst booting up? Thanks

A:Using PCIE Gen 2 - cant find any device

BIOS beep codes are error codes. One short beep is the normal everything is OK code. If you hear a series of long and short beeps that's an error message telling you there is a hardware fault. The "Using PCIE Gen 2 - cant find any device" message sounds like part of the problem. I would double check all your motherboard connections and reseat any add-in cards you have. If you take not of the sequence of the beep code you can look it up to see if the description for that code will help you figure out what's wrong.

A:Cannot find a device file

If it's only one or two files it's looking for, they may have been lost with an update gone astray. I was just reviving a W98 laptop and ran into this situation. If you have either the W98 CD or another system running an identical version of W98, it's pretty easy to copy a couple files back to their proper places.

How about the SPECIFIC content of the error, and the file it's referring to. Also, the exact version of W98, is it W98 or W98SE?

Thanks A Million TYLER

A:This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use.

See if this sheds any light on the problem.

Code 12
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)

Recommended resolution
Two devices have been assigned the same I/O ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of the two). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a universal serial bus (USB) controller is not an interrupt from the BIOS because of a corrupted Multiprocessor System (MPS) table).

You can use Device Manager to determine where the conflict is and disable the conflicting device. On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

Does Lenovo provide Windows 10 drivers for your PC?

From an etaf (Wayne) post:

How to identify hardware in Device Manager

right click on the device with a yellow!

from the menu choose
Click on the Details Tab
Under the Property - drop down
Select hardware ids
Right click and select all
Then right click again and select copy
Copy and paste that information here

You should see a code similar to this

please reply with the full code for your device(s)

The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:

Vendor ID = 8086
Device ID = 008A

Post back those two numbers make sure we know which is vendor ID and which is device ID

These codes can be looked up at this site http://www.pcidatabase.com/

As an example the link for that database tells us that;
Vendor ID code 8086 is for this vendor - Intel Corporation
Device ID code 008A is for this device - Intel Centrino Wireless-N1030

hi Guys,

All worked well while I was on windows XP, but since changed the OS to Windows 7 I'm having a hard time finding the PC in the network through the multimedia player's browser. The PC finds the player in the network and I'm able to browse throught the files the player's HDD. However only sometimes (very ramdonly) will the multimedia player find my pc and even when it does it won't let browse the files, it will ask me for username and password even though I have none.

I have gone through the sharing settings in my pc countless times, eall sharing options are enabled, the workgroup name in the pc is the same used in the player too.

Let me know if you guys need anymore information in order to help.

DVD RW Drive *NEC*
300w (or more?) psu
512mb RAM (SDRAM?)
I tried a driver scanner, nothing. Anyone help?

A:Cannot find video device model.

From what little I can find on the subject it would appear to have a via chipset as well as graphics chip
VIA UniChrome Shared video memory
to be specific.
Information on these imedia machines is basically non existent.
Since it's a basically unheard of graphics chip, I would guess this may be the right path, and would explain the driver utility being unable to identify it.

I think you may be dealing with a machine that more than likely can only run win xp.

Hello, I hope someone can help please. I got my XPS 15 service tag
<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>
 in March 2013.
Unfortunately, not long after it arrived I became ill and didn't really use it, preferring my desk top instead. I did use it only very occasionally until the start of this year when I had a project I needed to use it for. The computer had several updates to catch up on and after updating started to become less stable until it stopped really working at all. It didn't get by POST most of the time.
After contacting Dell I paid over £200 (as it was out of warranty) to have the on-line engineer chats, which did not remedy the issues, and to have it picked up and a cable replaced. This was in March. By the middle of June the computer was in the showing the same signs as before (not getting past POST). This time Dell uplifted it and replaced the hard-drive free of charge.
The computer seemed to be fine after upgrading to Windows 10 but I had no Bluetooth, so one of the Dell technicians sent me a link to get all the drivers and updates to solve my issue. I downloaded and installed all the updates and drivers via the link. After downloading and installing the recommended Dell BIOS update my computer returned to the same state as before.
After contacting Dell about this they have stated the problem is that I now need a new motherboard for £600. My computer cost £1,107.50 and I have already spent ... Read more

I upgraded my 9350 SSD to a 960 EVO 500gb. I followed a guide using macrium reflect. After swapping the drives and transferring the data I can't get the new drive to boot. If I leave it on UEFI boot mode it cannot see any drives at all, even when I boot to win10 installation media and look at the available partitions. Doing the same thing in legacy boot mode does enable me to see my drive from the win10 installation media however it still comes up with an error that it cannot find a boot device when I try and boot to windows.
I have tried entering into command prompt to repair the MBR but that hasn't changed anything. I think I need to get a boot record on here that matches what the XPS is expecting to get windows to launch I'm just not sure how.
Anyone had these issues changing out their SSD? Is there a solution for this?

I wonder whether anyone has a solution, I am loathe to attempt to return the unit, it meets all my other expectations and more, besides I have a limited budget and as I will probably have this problem on another refurbishment it best to see if it can be resolved

A:How do I find a Recording Device Win 7 64bit Pro

Desktops normally do not come with a microphone. You have to supply a "computer" microphone.

Web cams are a different issue. Is the PC not detecting them at all? (is the USB port you are using work with some other device)? or is it detecting them but no driver is found?
Some web cams are plug and play (meaning Windows has drivers or if your are on line can find drivers) and others require installing a driver FIRST and then connecting the unit.

Did they teach you to use Google?
You ask on here and all people do is use Google to answer your question, so you may as well do it yourself.

Hi everybody.
I am having a problem with installing my monitor driver.
I have a Compaq monitor and I downloaded the required monitor driver from HP website. The driver installer asks me to install the driver through device manager from the monitors tab. However i can't find it in the device manager. Is there any other way i can install this driver? Please help.

A:I can't find monitors tab in device manager..

Do you mean you don't have Monitors in device manager at all? It's usually between modems and network adapters.
What they probably want you to do is select the "Default Plug and Play monitor". If you click the + next to monitors, it should appear.
It might look something like this: http://www.pcguide.com/byop/diagrams/figure154.png
Then double-click the default pnp monitor, and go to the drivers tab and do the manual installation.
If you don't see any monitor, click action, scan for hardware changes. Hopefully it'll detect the monitor on the rescan.
