I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last summer I was downstairs on my pc connected to an ethernet to the router. Internet was great no problems really.. I have a twin brother who is upstairs and he used wireless he lagged alot and he only had problems if I was on my computer and that went on for a while. I have a grandfather who sat infront of me while I was on my pc and I couldnt do it so I moved upstairs but I didnt have a wireless pci adapter for my pc I had a wifi adapter which you plug in the wall to wirelessy connect to the router downstairs and I just put my pc's ethernet into the wireless adapter. I used that for a little bit until I couldnt take the high ping I was getting in game servers forcing me to just move my pc in the corner of my room and I havent been on it since. I have been playing ps4 using a wireless connect to the router downstairs. I have connection problems off and on but not every day. I today just got back on my pc and I am expieriencing constant lag and disconnection from games and discord. My router is the NightHawk AC1700 ,my Adapter is a tplink adapter. What can I do to increase my internet speeds I just dont want so much lag and horrible ping when I play my pc games with my friends.. and a reminder my router is downstairs with the modem.

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

A:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

Hello, I am experiencing a couple of ongoing problems with my system. The first is that all of the "portable devices" show a Code 19 yet they seem to be working fine. I've tried updating drivers but it says all drivers are updated. Also when I am playing low-end hidden object games, the game stops running and takes me to the windows screen. The game is still open in the task bar and all I have to do is hit it and it takes me back into the game but it happens continuously. I've tried reinstalling directX. I don't know if this is related but I've also recently had trouble with Norton 360 not working and having to be reinstalled.

I am running Vista Home Premium w/service pack 2, Intel i7 920 2.67 GHz cpu, 9 GB ddr3 memory and an ATI Radeon HD4670 512mb card.

I'd sure appreciate any help you could throw my way.

Thanks for your time,

A:Help with problem while playing low end games

The issue could have occurred when Norton "Messed up" but not sure at this stage. I would guess that you don't have a back-up copy of your registry, do you?

What games are you trying to play?

Please explain a little more regarding the games & the types of "portable devices" you are referring to with the problems.

Before we take any action, do you have any specific difficulties in supplying the drivers. i.e they are on CD but you don't have it, etc.

It could be as simple as removing them from device manager & re-instating them on the next boot up. Confirm you have the drivers first!

Are you experiencing any other strange activities when browsing say? (Thinking about Malware here).

Post back with more information & we can go from there. OK?

I have a problem playing games on my pc.
This only seems to have happened recently.I bought command and conquer red alert 3,installed it and tried to run it.Then I just got a blank screen with nothing happening.Had to reset my computer.I looked on the box and it said it was vista 32bit but i've got a 64bit version so thought it might be because of that.
However,I then tried to play universe at war which i've played before but had the same problem.
I'm running - core 2 quad,4 gig ram,home premium 64bit,ati 3870x2.
I've checked drivers for graphics card and they're up to date.
I also had this problem when I tried to run the media centre to sync with my xbox 360.

A:Problem playing games.

Well, it MAY be those games, but I can't guarantee my statement.

Most of the games I've played on my lappy run great (Vista Ultimate x64).

I have problems with games, I have bought four games now, three star trek games, a game called outlaws and another CD with some Atari games on it, well, the first one I had that was installed and running on here was one of the Star Trek games, then I got two more of the Star Treck games, installed them, cannot play none of them, I downloaded the DirectX 7, I think is which one it was, even went to the website and downloaded the patch's, still can't play them. When it comes to the part of actually playing the games, it shuts down and goes to my desktop, now on all games ..
What could the problem be, had a tech here for like three hours, he is mid bottled on what could be wrong, this is a new computer, has detanator3 installed also..
Please advise....

I'm not sure if I should make this here or in the game forum..sorry if I made the wrong choice. >_>

I'm using an old Soundblaster card, as I can't get the integrated sound card on my mobo working. The name of the sound card, based on what is on the card, is Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Digital. I'm using the Live! 5.1 drivers, as the 5.1 Digital are Dell only..even though my card did not come from a Dell. Oh well.

The problem is, while playing Guild Wars or WoW there is a pretty frequent 'feedback' type of sound. I've tried using headphones, and the sound is still present. However, the sound is NOT present while playing F.E.A.R.. If I turn off the background sounds and effects in Guild Wars, it stops it. Not sure with WoW. I'm fine with using either the integrated card or the PCI card, as long as sound is working fine. I'm not sure if I've done all that is needed to disable the integrated card, as all I've done is disable it in the Device Manager. I'm using Windows XP Prof..
EDIT: Disabling Hardware Acceleration in DXDiag seems to fix it. I've only tried it completely disabled and fully enabled, and only in Guild Wars. Will disabling it cause any problems?

EDIT2: No acceleration and basic acceleration seem to be fine. I just need to know if setting it to that will cause any problems.

So I had a problem with BSOD while playing League of Legends and some times just while doing stuff like trying to save a pdf from the internet. I decided to try formatting C:\ and re-installing windows to see if it would resolve the issue. Sad to say that now BSOD happened even when I was playing World of Warcraft (which did not happen previously).

I ran driver verifier and after the reboot windows crashed, almost immediately after loading. I restored it through safe mode. And now I'm asking for your help.

Laptop model is MSI GX623, the other info should be in the .zip file in the DxDiag.txt

And this is what windows says when I reboot after BSOD (which now happens immediately after I log a character in WoW):

A:BSOD'ish problem playing games

There are no dump files in the attachment.

Please follow the instructions again and upload the dump.

If you are not getting any dumps follow:
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

One suggestion would be to:

Start Menu\Programs\Avira Public:Start Menu\Programs\Avira Public
Uninstall Avira while we are troubleshooting with your bsod problems. Download and install MSE Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows run a full scan once updated.

Let us know if any of your hardware components are overclocked. If yes, you are suggested to restore to factory clocks.

Will wait for your next post.

I recently upgraded my PC by buying a new CPU AMD 5200+ 2.70Ghz overclocked to 3.0Ghz and all games started crashing. Here's my PC's specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte-GA69VM-S2
CPU: AMD 5200+ 2.70Ghz currently 3.00Ghz
Video Card: Galaxy GTS250 512MB GDDR3
RAM: 3x1GB Super Talent
HDD: Seagate 500GB
PSU: Fortron 400W
OS: Windows 7 x86

For example when I start GTA IV the PSU starts making a loud noise and after 15 min the game freezes. Not only GTA IV but Crysis,Metro 2033,Need for Speed Shift...

All temperatures are normal except the motherboard. It was stable until I bought the new CPU. The old one was AMD 4000+ 2.1Ghz
CPU:30 to 40 degrees on standby when playing maximum 60
Video Card:45 degrees on standby and up to 65 while playing
Motherboard: 45 degrees on standby and up to 67 when playing
All help would be appreciated

A:Most games crash while playing. Could this be a PSU problem?

Yes it sounds like a problem. The next thing you're going to hear is probably a "pop," if you're unlucky. Upgrade to a quality 450 watt psu or higher, asap.

How do I obtain a new driver? Where is the driver? I have looked through everything I can find, but I don't see this driver.......Device Manager! I try to play PS1 games on my PS2 and the following occurs:

Playstation 1 loading screen loads and plays fine
When game actually begins (intro screen, whatever) the image on the TV snaps up and down, and continues to do so even if I begin the game. I can use the controls like usual, just the image wont stop moving! I just bought another PS2 thinking that it would solve the problem (they only sell for 60 bucks) and now I'm stuck with the 2 PS2s and the same problem. Could it be my VCR? TV? The TV I have is old and only ahs a coaxial (i think that's what you call it) not video/audio hookups. Meaning: I have to run cable through VCR to get to use video/audio hooups. My N64 is plugged into the same VCR and works perfectly fine. Please HELP!

A:Problem when playing specific games

To me this sounds like a heat problem. What runs find at idle may not be so when your system is being stressed.
When were your temps of screenshots taken? If after one of your freezes.. how long?
the only thing i can see is your 2nd HDD is running warmer than I would preferr, but I dont think a hot HDD would cause such issues.

Nextime a freezeup happens, IMMEDIATELY reboot, go into the bios and look at system temps - or try playing your game in windowed mode so you can mointor temps and see what happens.

Try taking the side panel off your case and playing COD5 and see if the problem goes away.. or just takes longer to happen, or even happens sooner.
Also try placing a house fan nexto your case while the side panel is off.

If any of those solve the problem, then its definately a heat problem and you will need better ventilation on or around your case.

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem when playing online games on this laptop. The laptop does run well using other applications such as MS Word etc.

When I start playing any online game, it runs brilliantly without any stopping etc. After about 10 minutes, it starts jumping and not responding etc to my commands. Why is this happening? Can I prevent it?

Many thanks.

A:Problem playing online games

Your laptop isn't designed for gaming. Do you experience overheating issues a few minutes after running a certain game/application? If yes, you can use a can containing compressed air to clean the fans and see if that helps.

And also, which games are you playing on that laptop?

I did a chkdsk/mem test and all the others typically suggested steps, plus a virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials (which might not appear on the PERFMON test) and Malwarebytes and they came back fine. My video card driver is current and the Alienware site has a page for my drivers and those are up to date (athough driverfinder found a few things I could update, but when I ran this program in the past and updated drivers, it just caused me problems, because they weren't listed on the Alienware page for my system) .

All my hardware has been the same since I got the computer and I never had bluescreens until recently playing DCUO and then it occured in other games after, that it never had before. I have contacted Comcast, they said download the newest Java version. Did that. Still having same problem. Contacted Microsoft, they said they don't support Java any longer, tried dowloading some dll files, checked firewall, etc. Still having same problem. Microsoft said to contact Java (Sun) for answer to problem. They have not responded.

I am truly confused as to why I upgraded a Windows program and now I can no longer access online games. What am I doing wrong or is this a Windows problem and how can I fix it?

I am running Windows XP SP2 and every time I try and play a full screen game it plays for a few seconds then it kicks me out to the desk top. I used to be able to play these games and I have no idea what might have changed to cause this. I will say that I always have American Online running in the background as well as AIM, and Weather Bug. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Hi Flux.

Can you run MemTest?
Download the Auto installer for USB.

Boot your system from it, and when MemTest start press c (configuration) and select Full Memory Range, then let it run.

My system specs are:
Pentium D 2.8Ghz
RAM 2GB DDR2 533Mhz
Mobo - Mercury PVM7 Pro Version 1.0
nVidia GeForce 128MB 5200FX AGP 8x - No FAN provided by the company
80GB Seagate SATA

While playing games, after about half to one hour, game starts acting too slow. While playing, frame rates are reduced and game runs with pauses. I am taking here the example of NFS Carbon. This happens with all other games too. This happens always, no matter CPU/GPU is overclocked or are in their factory settings. I highly suspect this is overheating problem.
But when I was trying OCing, I installed a 12mm fan on my GPU's HS(it doesnt have any fans). Then I ran stability test for 4-5 hours, then played games for another 2-3 hours(with this problem) and then shutted down my comp directly and opened the case and touched the HS on GPU(all took 1 min), it was dead cold. I have tested this before installing the FAN too, but that time HS was very hot. So, I am confused. Anybody please help me out.

Answer this question too:
How to measure the frame rate I am getting while playing any game, say NFS Carbon? Can it be done through any other way than benchmarking tools for NFS Carbon?

See, I don't know how much of this problem has to do with either my games or Windows 10, but I do suspect it has to do something with power, because the general fixes that fix something like this caused by the game didn't work, which is why I'm posting here. When I open a game, there's a problem with keyboard input. When you hold down/spam a key or a series of keys (i.e. strafing with adadadadada, or just holding down backspace), it would pause and hold the key, and then resume typing the missing letters you typed in the maybe 0.2-0.3 seconds that it is paused. e.g. adadadad(pause for 0.2 seconds, 'd' is still being held down by the bug, although it doesn't show it is after the text catches up)adadadad(again)adadadada(again), again it doesn't have to be those keys, it can be backspace, or just one single key being pressed. This only happens when (and sometimes still after I close) I open a semi-heavy game. Sometimes after I restart the pc (once to multiple times), the bug would just still be there even before the game applications have started to run. Sometimes after I restart the pc, the keys lag as well. What I've tried:-uninstalling and reinstalling the games-resetting the whole pcWhat the problem isn't:-not a problem with the physical keyboard, I've tried 2 different ones-nothing with the USB ports, I've used other USB ports on my pc and it's still thereAny insight?

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). The BSODs appear to be random but I'm using a blue tooth mouse and have noticed the BSOD will usually happened if I'm using it. I've also noticed that my laptop screen with black out for a split second on games that are quite graphics intensive for my system.

Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

I've attached the SF file that is required and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time

I've been having problems with random BSOD's, mostly while playing games. They started around march, this year (as far as I remember). Thing I have done so far:

-formated hard drives twice and reinstalled Windows (zeroed once)
-ran memtest (couple of times with every stick tested solo, around 25 hours of testing altogether with no errors)
-ran chdsk, scannow, hdtune, mhdd boot test, crystaldiskinfo, all with no problems detected
-cleaned whole box with vacuum cleaner and compressed air
-put both GPU and memory sticks out and in
-updated bios, drivers

Computer is 3 years old now, and same problem persisted with next 3 windows instalation ( I did complete hdd format every instalation). There were a lot of errors, most of them related to drivers, but some were just stop errors with some random error codes.

I have a lot of errors in games, I think exceptionally lot since I never had so many errors before. I tried to downgrade my nvidia drivers to 314 but it didn't really help (there is a known problem with nvidia drivers).

I'd be really grateful if you could help me with that problems. It's been bugging me for over half year, with couple of BSODS almost everyday, and I can't afford to buy a new PC.

3 days ago i started having a black screen problem while playing games that normally would run on my PC ( for example League of Legends and Skyrim , the latter on low details ).

The problem is as follows : In League of Legends which i've been running on High details for 6 months now i started getting a black screen for about 2-4 seconds , afterwhich the game resumed. At least this is what happened for a while, but it started increasing in frequency and i had numerous Crashes (bugsplat errors) with a message saying that my video drivers have stopped working. This culminated with me also getting a Green Screen during the game that resulted in me restarting my pc ( basically the screen went green and i couldn't do anything else except manually restart)

The drivers are up to date so i have nothing to upgrade. I checked my video card thinking it might overheat and it runs at ~60C.

I cleaned the dust off my PC , reinstalled Windows and increased video card fan speed a bit.

Now i have almost the same problem, i still get the Black screen error that lasts 2-4 seconds and occasionally i get the Green Screen aswell forcing me to restart.

I decreased my League of Legends graphic details from High to Very Low, decreased FPS rates from 60 to 30 and now it runs without problems, but here's the catch: everything that worked smoothly before such as Skyrim and other high demanding games ( from a video card PoV) are now unplayable, i can only run older games like for example... When I first got my computer, it worked just fine, I played all my games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and WoW on the fullest settings without a problem. Then a few months later it began restarting after anywhere between 30 mins to 1hour+ of playing. I called the makers of my computer, we tried to see if it was overheating but it wasnt, I also tested the videocards, it wasnt that either. Then, out of nowhere it fixed itself for a few months, then out of nowhere it happened again. I restored my computer to an earlier time and it worked for a few days and now it's restarting again.

Could this be a Vista problem? I had a friend who said he had the same problem with his new comp but he upgraded to windows 7 and it has yet to restart... I have no idea, any sort of help would be much appreciated...

Hello, I've been recently having problems and they are all apparently connected to nvlddmkm.sys and I don't know how to fix this, I've looked into this a lot and I'm not able to find any solutions. I choose to start this thread because i couldn't find the same behaviour anywhere else.

So when i start playing a game (e.g CS:GO) the games runs smoothly and all is good for about 15 minutes give or take. After that period of time my internet connection suddenly drops. If i only disable and enable my connection it will go back online but only for another 15 minutes or so if i start playing a game again. If i restart the pc i can play the game as much as i want without any problems.

In conclusion when i first start the pc after a long time of power off i get this problem but after the first restart it s all gone. I can't wrap my head around the source of this problem. Hope someone can help. Thanks!

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more
