I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Yoga 3 Pro won't wake up from sleep / hibernation, the only sign of activity is the keyboard lights just blinking, AGAIN! :-(. This is a common problem with Yoga 2 13 models I have learnt, not only from various boards, but also my self, when I returned a yoga 2 13 after 5 days, and got the Yoga 3 Pro model. The laptop is now only 6 months old. I experienced the same wake up problems 3 weeks ago with my 3 Pro, and the shop here in Copenhagen sent it back to service. When I got it back 4 days ago, the service team had just changed "Cinch Audio" and updated the BIOS. It seems like they never really fixed the real problem. Two days ago the computer again had problems to wake up, and now it seems to be frozen in this blinking mode. I I have tried hard reboot (holding the power button for ca 20 secs), but it won't solve the problem. Has anyone experienced the same problem, and any durable solutions to it? If it stays like this, I'll hand it in, try to get it reimbursed and I will gladly buy another computer, but not from Lenovo anymore.

Hi all, Facts :Last august 30th, I ordered a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 (i5 / 8 / 256) from Amazon. It's been delivered one week ago (02/09/15).Two days ago (monday), I installed Kaspersky antivirus, downloaded the files for Windows 10, closed the screen and it went to sleep...And never woke up again ! I tried any and every keys / switches combo I thought of (power switch w/o volume switchs + and -, Novo switch, function keys, Ctrl/alt/ del, ctrl/shift/esc, escape, spacebar, enter... Right now, the power led is still on, the PC runs on battery and I'm waiting for it to run out of charge.I can hear and feel a very tiny ventilation from the back. The USB ports are active since my phone and an external HDD are plugged in them. The keyboard doesn't respond or enlight itself anymore. Despite all my tryings, I get no sound from the speakers... So I hope I will be able to reboot it and find a suitable solution (BIOS, driver update ?).The Yoga is new (one week old) and I'm yet already struggling to bring it back to life !!!!! Question :Is there any way to manually shut down the computer (the power switch for 60 sec doesn't work, the battery can't be taken out, no reset pin hole...) ? LENOVO, please HELP !!!!!I was so happy of this computer, don't let yous customer down. PS : As soon as the battery turns off, I'll try to save the PC and let you know how it goes.Sadly, I'm already considering to turn it back.

A:Yoga 3 14 won't wake up from sleep !!!

Auto-reply.The PC ran out of battery.Once it's been plugged in again, it booted nicely.I'm now downloading Win10 and associate drivers.Wait and see... ++

Hi.Not really the best solution, but I disconnected than riconnected the battery and now my Yoga is back working! This means I had to remove the back cover of my Yoga and not only. Fortunatelly I've some experience with this kind of technical/manual stuff. Here after the link to a tutorial to help opening the PC and disconnecting/reconnecting the battery: BE CAREFULL! https://youtu.be/HEqqYMvslaE DEAR LENOVO SUPPORT #lenovosupport (or somebodyelse who can help): a) how does to prevent this issue will happen again?b) does disconnecting the battery is really the only option? 'cause if this is the case, you're forcing people having under warranty PC to go a support center and to be without PC for days (maybe weeks) for such a "stupid" issue. Thanks to everybody answering  a) and/or b). I also hope this post can help somebodyelse with the same issue. Daniele

I tried from "BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Thin..." it starts the procedure but then it re-boots ending up in an (apparently) sleep state with the blinking led. The only way to start again is pressing the button for several seconds, but then once checking the current bios version I realize it did not really update.  I don't know how many times have tried this, getting crazy. my yoga 900 would not power up.  research found that the issue is a conflict between malware and windows 10.  The recommended fix was to hold the unit horizontally and press on the power button.  it worked! Question is - has this happened to you, and if so, how often?

Question says it all for the most part.  Just got my Yoga 260.  Works great expect it will NEVER wake from sleep.  this is a huge problem obviously as I have to do a hard reboot by holding hte power button in until it dies then press again to boot the machine. power light blinks just as it should in sleep but nothing will allow it to wake except holding power button down doing a hard shutdown then reboot.  Anyone have a fix for this?  Thanks.

Hi everybody. This is just a public service message regarding an issue I've encountered. I've found that my Yoga 900 does not "wake up" after it has gone to sleep while connected to an external monitor. I'm connected to an HP 27VX monitor through a USB Type C to HDMI adapter. I found that my Yoga wakes up without issue if the display has turned off (power options turn off display settings) but it doesn't wake up if it goes to sleep when connected to the monitor. The issue though is not that it doesn't wake up, the issue is that for some reason when connected to the monitor it never truly goes to sleep (slow blinking white light). I think it gets hung up somehow when trying to go to sleep. When it enters this mode the power light is solid white and the only fix is to power cycle the Yoga. I'm not sure why it won't successfully go to sleep when connected to a monitor but my guess is some type of driver/hardware issue between the USB type C, HDMI adapter, and the monitor. I've verified that all works as intened when I'm not connected to the monitor. My workaround is to go to power options and turn my sleep option (when plugged in) to "Never". Not a solution by any means, just a workaround until all players involved (Lenovo, HP) figure out how to work with the new USB Type C port. Hope this helps. Rob

After a clean install of Windows 10 Anniversary edition, I had an issue with my Thinkpad Yoga not resuming from sleep, requiring a hard reboot every time. I made sure to perform the updates in the support article ThinkPad Yoga cannot wake up from sleep mode but those didn't help. The ultimate solution was to downgrade the Intel Management Engine Interface driver to the 9.x version from Lenovo's site. The default Windows 10 installation installed version 11.x of that driver, which apparently causes this issue with failing to resume. (Note that the Lenovo System Update tool does not identify this as a needed update since the Lenovo driver version is older, so you have to download and apply the older driver manually.) After doing this, the system now sleeps and resumes perfectly. Hopefully this can help someone else, and maybe the above support article could be updated to include this advice too.

Hi everyone,  My manager seems to be having an issue with his ThinkPad S1 Yoga ever since he upgraded to Windows 10 back in July. He's now running the TH2 update that was released last month and he is still having issues with Sleeping and Waking the Notebook.  When shutting down the computer it will not fully shut down, resulting in the battery draining and the little red light on the lid will blink very quickly - The only fix is to hard reset the PC by holding the power button.   When the Notebook is on battery power and goes to sleep for being idle - it cannot be woken up and the only way to get the PC to work again is to hard reset again - meaning he loses all his work.  Is there a permanent fix in the pipeline or is this a case of restoring back to Windows 8.1?  ThanksChris

A:S1 Yoga: Windows 10 - Sleep/Wake Problems

Hi Chris-R

Can you please post your the full model number of the Yoga?

I have a TP Yoga 14 and it took me some time to stabilize the drivers. Maybe you should try to re-install the Lenovo Power related drivers to see if it can fix your problem.

I also like to have the drivers updated, I can share with your the following tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers.

I hope this helps you or gives you a hint.

Regards

Hi, I recently purchased a Thinkpad X1 Yoga, shipped on May 16, 2016.  I have an issue:     When I use the left side USB port (the one on the side of the power charging port) to charge my old Ipod and the laptop goes to sleep. The laptop does not wake up when opening the lid or pressing on the power button. However, as soon as I disconnect my Ipod from the USB port. The laptop immediately wakes up but unable to login using the fingerprint reader. Specific steps to reproduce: 1) Plug x1 yoga power cord to the laptop 2) Plug Ipod to the left side USB port. Make sure Ipod has no earphones plugged in. 3) Put the laptop in sleep mode 4) Close the lid of the laptop 5) Wait until iPod is no longer being charged by the laptop (a few seconds after the laptop goes to sleep) 6) Wait until iPod automically turns off on its own (it takes 15 to 30 mins, not sure exactly how much time.) 7) Open the laptop lid and notice that the laptop is not waking up. 8) Press on the "power" button on the right side of the X1 Yoga. Notice that the laptop does not wake up. 9) Remove the iPod from the USB port on the left side of the X1 Yoga.        Notice that the laptop is now able to wake up.        Also notice that the finger print reader is not responding. Cannot login using the fingerprint reader. Seems like a driver issue. Lenovo please confirm! ThanksWilly

My Yoga 500 ISK would sometimes not wake up from sleep.I mean, I can see the computer is working, I can hear it, but the screen is black and unresponsive. What happens is that I either leave it on and it goes to sleep on its own within 15 mins, or put it to sleep via start>power>sleep - it doesn't matter. Sometimes I press the power button and it wakes up fine, but sometime I get the black screen. My computer is up to date on the latest BIOS update (from today), Both Intel and nVidia graphics drivers are up to date, and in my power settings, my hard drive is set to not turn off ever. Does anyone know a solution to this problem??

Hi there, I own the same model and I believe I have the same issue. Also I find booting up to be painfully slow. It gives me so much Apple Mac envy. I am almost certain the issue is with regard to the HDD itself, the WDC WD10S21X-24R1BT0-SSHD-8GB. It is used in many of the new-ish lenovo laptops including the Y50 touchscreen gaming computer. Many customers have complained about the SSHD, google that long model and you'll see loads of complaints on forums. I intend to open up my Yoga 500 ISK and replace the SSHD with what should be in there - an SSD. I shall let you know how I get on! Harry

I bought a new Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM/Broadwell). Gorgeous machine, but it refuses to wake from sleep on a keypress or click on the trackpad. It will wake up if I close and re-open it. I updated all of the drivers and the bios using Lenovo's utilities and Windows System Update. When that didn't work, I tried updating the Intel Integrated graphics drivers and GeForce drivers with the latest packages from Intel and NVIDIA, downgraded the Intel Management Engine to version 10, and disabled hybrid sleep. No dice. So I resorted to a clean re-install of Windows 10 from a USB key and updated all of the Lenovo drivers (again) using ThinkVantage System Update. "Allow this device to wake the computer" was and is checked in the Device Manager for both the keyboard and trackpad. Is there anything I can do to get it working? Only a couple days left to figure this out before my return period ends.

What might be the issue? Could both things be connected somehow? Thanks for any help!

I am still fighting with "260 will not wake up from sleep problem" described in my post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/ThinkPad-Yoga-260-cannot-wake-up-from-s... I tried everything, fresh restore (5 times), boot from linux live, the laptop can't manage correct sleep, hybernation and even a simple shutdown. I can only switch on and off by pressing power button for more than 10 seconds. I tried to update the bios (from the lenovo website or from a bootable ISO) but it does just half of the job, when it tries to restart do finalize the process it goes again in a frozen state and can only restart by pressing power button for long time. Ok my laptop is out of warranty, but this has been clearly caused by a lenovo update, before that the lapotp was performing perfectly. There are several people with thinkpad reporting the same problem, lot of them with my same 260. The last one IDENTICAL problem 4 days ago: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Yoga-260-Does-not-wake-up/m-p/3930549 This is unacceptable, I went to a lenovo assistance and they asked me 750euros to change the motherboard. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LENOVO. I would like to hear an opinion from a Lenovo operator reading this forum, if any.

Hi, I've got two thinkpad lenovo S1, one works fine when going to sleep but with the other one I've been having a problem for a number of months now and it's becoming more frustating. Basically, I'm using the laptop then I leave it for doing something else and when I come, it's gone to sleep. Fine, the problem is that I can see the 'red light' blinking but if I press any key or I press the power button for a little while the laptop doesn't wake up. It just keeps with the blinking red light.  Sometimes, not many, it does wake up but the others, I have to press the power button for a long period, switch the laptop off and start again, losing all my sessions and opened windows in the process.  Any idea what could be causing this issue and what I can try to have it sorted? Thank you guys!

Please help! I've been using sleep mode for pretty much the entire time that I have had this laptop (one month plus).  This is the first time I sent it into sleep mode for the evening and awoke the next day to find that the laptop refuses to wake up.  The keyboard will light up merrily along with the power button, but the screen will not turn on.  The fans are also running full tilt.  I can hear them running loud and clear, which is abnormal as during normal operations I cannot hear this machine running at all.  After having a jet engine for a previous laptop, this was one of my favorite features of the Flex 3. I have tried doing a ton of different things to get the laptop to wake up again including power resets and using the Novo button.  Nothing has worked.  If I could get at the battery and motherboard battery without voiding my warranty, I would.  My only solution is to try to run the battery down by leaving it on with the keyboard lights as bright as they will go and let the fan run like a jet engine.  Hopefully this will drain the battery in faster than the 4 days that everyone else was reporting.  Anyways, I don't know how everyone's Flex 3's lasted that long on battery anyways.  Mine kept turning itself on. The point of this post is to ask what I can do so that this issue never crops up again.   I love this machine, but if this becomes a recurring problem, I'm going to have to can it and g... For a couple of years I've my Yoga 900 laptop with 2(!) Dell P2415Q 4K monitors using a USB-C to MiniDP dongle. I was shocked the laptop could handle both of these monitors (combined resolution 7680x2160!), but it did just fine. I recently sold them and am now using the laptop with a single Dell U3417W widescreen monitor (resolution 3440x1440). For some reason, even though the new monitor has FAR fewer pixels that the two 4K monitors did combined, the laptop will now frequently get into a state (often after a sleep/wake cycle) where the screen starts blanking out every 3-5 seconds. Usually I can't get it to stop until I do a shutdown and cold restart of the laptop. I have the latest display driver available on Lenovo.com for this laptop. What's going on here, and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello,

I have a lenovo y700 on Windows 10 and when I put my laptop to sleep, I am able to turn it back on. But sometimes the screen stays black and the keyboard lights are on. Such that the computer did start up but the screen doesn't want to.

The only way I am able to fix this is buy putting the computer to sleep multiple times and then wake it up back again and after once or twice it starts to work. The solution (fool-proof) is to hold the power button to shut it down and then start it up again.

I bought this laptop a week ago and (yes) I updated all my drivers(including NVIDA GPU) and windows updates. I also don't have that many background apps running.

Here are my specs:

Greetings All, My Lenovo Ideapad 100 15IBY running on windows 8 OS won't wake up from sleep mode as it automatically boots into sleep mode when powered on and the screen remains blank. I have tried reseating the ram, power on with ac adapter and also holding on the power button for a while but still no sign of waking up. The screen is perfectly Ok. The only problem is that the heat sinks gets hot than normal. Please kindly provide any fix or solution to this. Thanks

I paid over a thousand dollar for this laptop and the laptop doesnt even wake up from sleep. i can hear the fan working and the keyboard light turns on but the screen stays dark. this is not acceptable. i have to fully turn my laptop off in order to turn on the screen back on again. this problem doesnt occur everytime, but still happens every now and then.

Hello,I have a lenovo y700 on Windows 10 and when I put my laptop to sleep, I am able to turn it back on. But sometimes the screen stays black and the keyboard lights are on. Such that the computer did start up but the screen doesn't want to.The only way I am able to fix this is buy putting the computer to sleep multiple times and then wake it up back again and after once or twice it starts to work. The solution (fool-proof) is to hold the power button to shut it down and then start it up again.I bought this laptop a week ago and (yes) I updated all my drivers(including NVIDA GPU) and windows updates. I also don't have that many background apps running. Here are my specs:Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15 Laptop - 80NV005FUS Processor - 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ (2.60GHz 1600MHz 6MB)Operating System - Windows 10 Home 64Memory - 16.0GB PC4-17000 DDR4 2133 MHzGraphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GBHard Drive - 1TB 5400 RPM+128GB SSDThanks for your time, cheersBouga

A:Lenovo y700 screen doesn't wake up from sleep

Hi bouga ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on the support site for   Notebook IP Y700-15ISK I7 , seems no BIOS update needed for this model.
Typically even on Win Vista and Windows 7 that issue with sleep has been related to hybrid features.

Method 1 : You may try to disable it using the cmd elevated for the command  powercfg -h off .
Check on this video link for the guide steps

Method 2 : Setting Power option to High Performance instead of conservation mode . then manualy setting sleep on the start icon

Continue to apply neccessary updates that may correct this issue but for the time being , you can use Method 2 as alternate solution if method 1 fail to correct it.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Hello all, I bought my lenovo Edge 2-1580 in December, but recently, the display won't turn on after I wake it up from sleep mode. The rest of the notebook still turns on and the power button is lit, but the screen will stay black even if I move the mouse or press any keys. I have to do a manual shutdown and then turn it on again, which works but then the problem occurs again when it goes to sleep mode. I've updated the drivers and disabled the notebook from going to sleep, but if I manually put it into sleep mode the problem continues. I've seen this as a common issue regarding Windows 10 as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

A:Lenovo Edge 2-1580 won't wake up after sleep mode

I just resolved this issue recently with my Flex 3 1580, so hopefully my solution works for you.  First, update the video/graphics driver (intel or nvidia) from the Drivers & Software page on support.lenovo.com.  Test sleep mode again.  If the screen is still not turning back on, then update your BIOS.  Back on the Drivers & Software page, look for the latest BIOS update and run it.  In both cases, but especially for the BIOS update, make sure your laptop is plugged in.

Over the past several years there are many posts of users experiencing variations on this problem with X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga of various generations, including the latest ones (I provide a list below). That is, the systems often cannot come out of sleep mode in some way, shape, or form. I had this problem on my own brand-new X1 Carbon 5th Generation, right out of the box. In my instance, I noticed this issue in the following two scenarios: -After having gone in to sleep mode, once I opened the lid, or press power button once:power light goes from blinking to solid onscreen stays blank/blackseems that if the machine is going to be in the frozen state, keyboard presses do not "unsleep" it (which they normally would). Closing the lid causes the power light to go to solid on, but then opening it again does nothing.in a couple of rarer instances, the machine actually did come out of sleep but then instantly the screen froze (but this was quite uncommon, mostly it just wouldn't come out of sleep at all)-After passing the initial boot screen of Lenovo, the next part shows the Lenovo logo but without the swirling dots and is frozen (the power light would show on)Under both conditions: The power light is solid onThe keyboard lights functionality works: backlighting, FnLock light, mute lightSometimes you can hear the fan workingPlugging in to external display does not display anything on itThe only way to rectify is to do a hard shutdown by holding the power key With... My PC is fairly new and I'm having problems with slow shutdowns/restarts and slow sleep/wakes. Recently it seems to fail waking altogether and restarts after a while instead. Usually during waking I just have a black screen for a long time before the reset/restart but sometimes I see the Windows log-in screen but it's unresponsive.
The problem predates my CPU undervolting and doesn't seem to change when I switch RAM settings back to Auto instead of XMP (I my RAM necessitates some kind of overclock in order to function at its rated speed).

Can anyone advise how to proceed? Thanks.

Hello, I have an Ideapad 510S13ISK on Windows 10 bought less than a year ago. After installing the Updates for windows (Version 1709) on December my pc started not to wake up from sleep mode, neither closing and opening the screen nor trying to wake it up using the power or any other key.I tried previously to update all drivers from Lenovo's support site. Then i tried to use a restor point created before the Windows Updates, but they still remained installed. At that point i reset the pc using the reset option by windows but the problem was still present.I updated again all drivers after the reset but nothing, it doesn't wake up. Precisely the pc seems to wake up but the screen doesn't, and it "flashes". Here a video of the probem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LntcxCrlZqQ I'm sorry for my english, hope you understand. Kind regards. Marco

W7 PC wakes up from sleep every few minutes. It didn't use to. I am the builder / owner / sole user. Investigation done so far at the DOS prompt to establish the cause:

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

powercfg -waketimers
There are no active wake timers in the system

powercfg -lastwakeWake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 0Other ideas to try and establish the cause with please?

Many thanks.
