Yoga 900 high cpu ymc.exe yoga mode control

Q: Yoga 900 high cpu ymc.exe yoga mode control

HiWhen a second user is logged on to my yoga 900 the cpu goes from 2-3% to about 30% and stays there. The fan spins up and makes more noise than acceptable. After disabling the service yoga mode control it does not happen anymore but it's a pity to have to do without it. I have everything updated (windows 10 and bios) including the latest version of yoga mode control I can find: version 1.0.0.9 Is there a fix to this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hey. I bought my Yoga 520-14IKB (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256gb NVMe SSD, GeForce 940MX) 2 month ago, had no problems, till last week. Now sometimes i experience such a strange behaviour. Mainly i work on my laptop in normal mode, and sometimes, during such work, it can false trigger a tablet mode for a few (2-3) seconds (notification appers), which causes the keyboard to switch off for this time, despite the fact, that it still stands as a normal laptop, not even close to position, which triggers the yoga mode. How can i fix this? System is Windows 10 April 2018 Update, have all the latest drivers and latest version of BIOS.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi there, Duduamar ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do an idle test
Click start type msconfig -> start up -> disable all reboot
You will have disabled all programs that start up with your pc open task manager and see if the cpu speed has dropped

If it has open msconfig again and turn on your firewall and av then reboot check turn on a few more check etc etc
Be warned that after the first disable all and reboot you will have disabled your firewall and av so don?t download or goto unknown web pages but it should be ok for a 2 min test

Update us how it goes.

Hi there, I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 with Core i7-5500U and I feel like there might be a problem with the chip because the fan is nearly constantly on and it is REALLY loud, and so far ive only done basic tasks like web browsing and document editing.

Also another unrelated problem I have is that 2-finger-tap right click isnt working on the touchpad despite the option in the settings being ticked.

Please help, I've been really dissappointed in this laptop because of these things and I'm sure it's awesome when it works properly

So I was on the site about 2 weeks ago and I was deciding which laptop to buy. The maxed out Yoga 720 (15") seemed to be the perfect option. But now there are no models showing that have over 8 GB RAM or 256 GB Storage.  I am looking to purchace the 1 TB model with 16 GB RAM as soon as possible. When is that going to be available? I also saw some models on the Austrailian site the 4 GB graphics cards. Are these models coming to the US as well? I thought the graphics card maxed out at 2 GB for Yoga 720? This is a screenshot of the model I found of the AU site.

As the title suggests, the CPU usage of this laptop goes very high when it is plugged in. This results in high CPU temperatures and surface temperatuers and the fan becoming very noisy, despite no programmes being open in windows. It is extremely annoying and simply burning out the laptop and it's power supply. I could not find a solution. I have a suspicion that due to charging, laptop creates heat in some components (VRM etc), this is magnified by Rapid Charging, therefore the fans must run during charging to dissipate heat.I suspect the fans' running voltage is linked to the CPU load, so the only way for the fans to run faster to dissipate charging heat is by running the CPU at higher voltage/frequency, which in turn creates even more heat. Perhaps a simple fix would be to give an option to turn off Rapid Charging, as to reduce heat, in Lenovo Vantage. The CPU management is terrible on this laptop. I don't know if it is Intel's DPTF drivers or Lenovo's firmware, but the battery would die very quickly. I disabled Turbo Boost on battery mode and the battery life almost doubled.  I am quite dissapointed with many aspects of this laptop. There has been no update in a long time and I think there are quite a few things to fix.  Don't just fix this in the Yoga 930. You need to look after your current customers as well. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND WORK ON A FIX. This laptop is so close to perfect... Thank you.

Hi,

It appears based on the below post that Lenovo fixed this problem on X380 Yoga.  Can this be released for X1 Yoga 3rd generation?

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X380-Yoga-High-battery-drain-when-off-again/t...

I have already done the below

- Windows Quick Start is off
- USB-power when off is off
- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off
- BIOS updated to N25ET35W 1.21
- I have uploaded BIOS settings to default
- Disabled thunderbolt
- run battery guage reset twice

Battery drain is not as bad as the other person on the X380 but I still lose after making all the above changes 1-3% overnight.  Despite what support says I do not believe that this should be considered normal.  This has never happened on any of my other thinkpads except for my TP25 which was fixed after disabling fast start up.

Hi, My Yoga 900 is exeperiencing some serious redundant cpu usage caused by System Interrupts. The percentage is usually around 10-19%. It is constant and never goes away. I'vde done some research, and analysed what exactly is causing this cpu usage. It turned out to be "Intel® Serial IO host controller driver", specifically this: iaLPSS2i_I2C.sys.The version installed is 30.63.1519.07.In this link I can find other versions, but it's not clear why there are 5 separate "latest" versions, nor it can be understood if they can be used here.Regardess, I tried version 1.3, and tere was no change. The driver did not get replaced either.I also tried to remove the Intel Serial IO from Control Panel, but uninstalling it did not remove the driver at all. I am still getting about 15%  of CPU wasted by system interrupts. Is this a known issue? What can I do to fix this? I know this is a long shot, but I'd like to get a techincal response if possible. This is an ultrabook, and wasting resources is not helping the cause. Thanks

Hi gaga and welcome to the community,

I'm not seeing this issue of high cpu usage, but I do see 4 usages of your same driver in the system components in Device Manager.  If you knew which of these is causing the high usage, you can disable it in Device Manager and see if it improves.

Hello my fellow ThinkPad friends, I know that there are already a couple of threads out there concerning high battery drain when the device is completely shut down, but none for the X380 Yoga yet. In some cases (E-Series ThinkPads), a BIOS-Update was released to solve the problem. I would kindly like to ask the Lenovo team to try and figure out whether the same can be accomplished for the X380 Yoga.  When my device is shut down, it usually drains 10-15% a day, which cannot be a regular thing. Of course, I have tried all the usual stuff: - Windows Quick Start is off - USB-power when off is off- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off- BIOS updated to R0SET29W 1.13 If you have any other ideas, feel free to post them. Otherwise, I would really appreciate for a BIOS update that might adress the issue. It is kind of annoying charging your device for the weekend knowing that by the next day, you will already have lost 1 to 2 hours of runtime. Best wishes,Manuel

I bought my Yoga 700 about a year and a half ago and up until about a month ago it has been working without a hitch. It randomly started making a very high pitched noise that I thought, at first, only occured when I plugged in my headphones because it was extremely loud when I wore them. However, I soon realised it was also coming from the built-in speakers in my laptop but at just a quieter level. It does not happen when I have my volume on mute but any louder than that and it turns on. It is particularly loud when any audio is playing (eg. youtube and spotify). Does anyone have any solutions? I've tried reinstalling my realtek audio drivers, changing my microphone and speaker settings, etc but nothing seems to be working. I would be so greatful if anyone had any suggestions because I'm someone who adores listening to music and watching videos and it makes me very upset when I cant do that. Thank you

Hello! The Yoga 900 is my first Lenovo PC. I had recently owned the HP Spectre x360 i7 Skylake, QHD in Ash Siver. It is truly a beautiful machine, most of all in Ash Silver. I ended up returning it and going with the Yoga 900. My reasons where: The Spectre is heavier and a bit thicker than the Yoga, which makes for a not so nice tablet experience. The Spectre, also gets too warm and sometimes too hot, around the left palm rest area. These are all problems that I have not had with the Yoga 900 which has double the RAM, for $100.00 less than the Spectre model I had.  Okay, so with the Yoga 900, I have now been through 3 of them. 2 of them, had lint underneath the final coat of paint on the lid. On both, I didn't notice until a day or two after my purchase, when I ran my hand over the lid and felt small bumps as if grains of sand were stuck to the lid. Upon a closer look with a bright LED light; I noticed actual lint/hairs under the silver painted lid. Now with my third unit, the paint is lint-free but I have noticed something that I'm trying to figure out whether or not is normal. When the unit is closed, on the right side, I have noticed that the right side upper lid, sicks out further than the right side bottom section (bottom section as in where the power button is). Please let me know if your Yoga, is also uneven along the right side too. Thank you!

A:Yoga 900 Quality Control Questions

I have also had a "rough" experience with my yoga 900. I am now on my 3rd. The first had a very loose mouse pad and a few pieces of painted lint/hairs on the lid as you describe. It also had a weak backlight on the volume down key compared to the rest of the keyboard which was unfortunate. My second was worse, the entire bottom of the laptop was rough, almost like a fine sandpaper. The lid was much smoother like it is supposed to be. The mouse pad was even worse on the 2nd one as well. The backlight of the keyboard thankfully was perfect. Im a night owl so this small thing is surprisingly important. My significant other convinced me to return it due to the rough underside and bad mousepad, considering how much I paid for the system in the first place. Soooo, now I am on my 3rd Yoga 900, The paint is perfect, the trackpad is much better but on this one the backlight (same volume down key) on the keyboard has the same issue as the 1st laptop. I almost feel like maybe I should wait till all of the manufacturing issues are resolved. Love the form factor and specs but quality control does seem to be lacking atm.   Zachary

I have recently got a yoga x1 3rd gen as a tester unit for our company, however it's been fine except when using the usb c dock. The issues that I have are pretty intermittent and I'd like to see if there is a possible fix. The issue I have is when connected to the USB dock and having 2 monitors plugged in(both running off display port) the CPU is pretty much running at max frquency, which causes the cpu to run at 60-75C when not really doing anything with it just sitting idle. When unplugged it throttles back on frequency perfectly fine and never gets above 50C. The second issue is the dock itself locks up and cosntantly requires me to unplug and replug back in the dock to get peripherals to work again.  I have updated the bios on the laptop to the most recent (April 24th dated) and still having these issues.  Any help would be appreciated!

I am running the latest drivers from Lenovo's website and I have noticed that after a while (possibly after putting my computer to sleep and waking it up again), the ETD Control Center (which must be running in order to have full touchpad functionality) will constantly use ~30% CPU. This obviously impacts battery life, but it also makes my laptop produce more heat and noise than it would otherwise, while running slower. It is undesirable behavior. I have already tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them, running the older version, or running the newer version. Nothing helps. Whenever this software is running, it does not take long before it is thrashing my CPU. Currently I am running the latest version of the software that is available on Lenovo's website, and I have updated everything possible using Lenovo's update software. I am running windows 10 and have the Elan touchpad drivers installed. My Lenovo 710, intel i5 8gb RAM version has an extremely irritating problem in that it emits a high pitched noise from the left side of the chasis (opposite to the charging port) when charging and powered off. The noise is very high pitched, so much so that it almost tops my hearing limit. (I am 20 years old.) It only occurs when the laptop is off and charging, and occurs regardless of the battery %. I am certain that the noise is coming from the left side of the computer, and not the actual wall wart itself. I am using the charger that came with my brother's old Lenovo 710 pentium laptop, but since the amperage and voltage output seem to be a same, I don't imagine that it's the cause of the problem. Secondly, the right hinge on my computer is crooked. Not sure why, not sure how, but it is. It doesn't seem to affect anything, as my computer still folds and closes properly without any noticeable deformities. Not a big problem, but somewhat irritating.

I have this same laptop with Windows 10, and was happy with the sensors after I installedITE sensor FW for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo Yoga 3-1170and Lenovo Transition. I recall that transition was only listed for Windows 8, but it works with Windows 10.

This is now my second Lenovo Yoga 720 13" that I recived from Best Buy. I returned the first one because I noticed the screen did not meet the rubber bezel at the top, exposing the inside of the monitor. This caused me to worry about dust and hair getting behind the screen and possibly destroying it. The second one has the same problem as well as many others. The power button on the first one clicked when I pressed it, however with this one there is no click and I must hold the laptop and press the power button all with more strength than a person should have to just to get it to turn the laptop on. Also the trackpad comes above the right side of the laptop where the left side rests below. There is also a strange rattling coming from the plastic peices at the bottom of the screen. Many of the keys on the keyboard stick at random points when I'm typing causing the keys to not type. Also many of the lights behind the keys are either burned out or extremely dim, now I find it hard to believe that they burned out from my using the laptop since it is fairly new. Lastly there is sharp metal sticking out on the right side of the laptop that often scratches me when I put it into tablet mode. I can still use the laptop, but I feel like I have to be overly careful with it because of all these issues. It is as if this laptop was never checked for defects before it was sent to Best Buy.

Hello, I purchased a new lenovo Yoga 720 15" model #80X7003VUS and have been having severe performance issues related to CPU throttling due to temperatures on Core #0 approaching the Thermal Juncture Limit.  I noticed initial symptoms while playing Dota 2 - Not exactly a demanding game for a 7700HQ + GTX 1050M. Symptoms were drastic drops in framerates to the low teens from a baseline of over 70.  I ran windows performance and resource monitor to diagnose and noticed that my CPU was downclocking causing the degraded performance. To confirm this I ran some diagnostics with both RealTemp and CoreTemp as monitoring tools and Prime95 to simulate artificial load. Below is a Snippet of the aforementioned test.CPU Full Load This test was run with Prime95 with 8 threads to load all 4 cores (4x2 since hyperthreading).  The CPUs are shown with 100% in the image as well as relevant temperatures.Core #0 and #2 are running extremely hot - with Max Temps hitting 100C and 97C respectively causing the processor to underclock to avoid damage, while Cores #1 and #3 are well within normal operating ranges. I halted this test due to fear of damage after less than a few minutes.  This second image shows the Core temperatures roughly a few minutes after the stopped tests once CPU load was roughly baseline with only light processes running (Load on all Cores less than 10%)CPU Base Load (Less than 10%) Finally this third imag...
