I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Website Address Line Missing

I will assume that you are using Internet Explorer.
Go to File -> Page Setup
There is a box for the header (the top of the page) and a box for the footer (bottom). To have the URL print, type &u in the appropiate box. The window title is &w. More commands are availible if you click on the ? in the upper right corner and then click in the Header/Footer area.

I am using Windows XP with Internet Explorer 6.0. on a new computer. Concurrent with initial use of this computer, the autocomplete feature in the address line of my email programs (Hotmail, Yahoo) stopped functioning. This also occurrs when using the Opera 7.0 browser. Autocomplete works in the Address Line, and the browser offers to (and does) remember login name(s) and password(s). Can you tell me how to recover the feature of autocomplete in the email address lines?

A:Autocomplete in address line

Open Outlook Express and go to Tools > Options and click the Send tab, see if you see anything like automatically complete email addresses.
It's in OE 5.5, not sure about OE 6, not booted to that partition now.

IE 11 is my browser and Yahoo is my home page. My computer is a Dell laptop running Win 7. My problem is this .... when I'm reading a Yahoo article and get to where it says "Read more", I'll click on that but instead of it taking me to the article continuation, it takes me to another Yahoo (Home?) page, different fonts and sized. Another quirk is that I'll be 'signed in' on my home page, but when I'm forwarded to the new page, it says I'm not signed in. The new Yahoo page is almost always the same and appears to be from several days ago. And lastly, I finally noticed that when I'm forwarded to the new Yahoo page, there is a 'brb' in the address line where it should be a 'www'. I've searched and searched and cannot figure out what has happened. This started a few days ago with nothing out of the ordinary that I've noticed except a few days ago "Skype" popped up on my computer and I have no idea how or why. I have just been exiting out of it and closing it till today, but today I finally 'uninstalled' it from Control Center. I'm not real computer savvy and hope for some help here. Thx in advance and regards, chevygmman.

To find out the version, go to Help, and the About Mozilla Firefox

To move the toolbars, right-click on the File, Edit Toolbar, and select customize

Hello,

Sometimes I get an error "Memory address line failure" when I start up my computer (please see attachment for exact error message). I checked computer panel->system and security->systems and I see I have Installed memory (RAM) 2.00 GB

Is the error something to do with my ram? I am running windows 7 ultimate version

Thanks,

A:Memory address line failured

Yes, it likely means one of your RAM sticks is faulty, incompatible, or maybe just loose.

Have you tried to re-seat the RAM in the slots? Unplug the power to PC, press and hold the power button for a few seconds. Then remove all the sticks, read and note down what it says on each stick and then re-insert them.

You should then see if the correct amount of RAM is detected by the BIOS and in Windows. Use the information from the labels on the RAM to figure out if all of it is recognised.

You should also run the Extended memory test built into Windows too see if there are any memory failures: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

Recently I have experienced a total computer freeze up when I try to use the address window on Iexplore 6. I seem to be able to click on the contents in the window and start to write a new address and when I have typed about half of the information my computer totally freezes without giving me any error messages. The keyboard is frozen so I can't operate the 'Control, Alt, delete' nor the esc keys. The mouse also becomes inactive. My only recourse has been to press 'system reset'.

Several things that I have tried have been to us msconfig and deselect all 'startup' programs. I have also looked for interfering software and removed some. I have Computer Associates antivirus software 'Personal Inoculate' installed and it is currently updated. I have tried to operate the browser with and without the antivirus program being active and have found no differences.

Anyone have some other ideas on what I might try?

Updated PCs running Trend Micro's Antivirus on Windows can be hijacked, infected with malware, or wiped clean by any website, thanks to a vulnerability in the security software.
The design blunders were discovered by Google Project Zero bod Tavis Ormandy. A patch is now available to address the remote-code execution flaw, so Trend Micro users should update their software as soon as possible.
Ormandy, who has been auditing widely used security packages, analyzed a component in Trend's AV software dubbed the Password Manager. He found that multiple HTTP RPC ports for handling API requests were accessible.
"It took about 30 seconds to spot one that permits arbitrary command execution, openUrlInDefaultBrowser, which eventually maps to ShellExecute()," he wrote in a bug report to Trend.
This means that any webpage visited by a victim could run a script that uses Trend Micro's AV to run commands directly on the machine – such as RD C:\ /S /Q to wipe the system drive, or commands to download and install malware. As another example, this code uninstalls Trend Micro's security software on a PC without the owner's knowledge or consent.

Article

The software has been patched via an update but I am surprised Trend Micro let this get through.

A:Trend Micro AV gave any website command-line access to Windows PCs

Not surprised of this at all. Hell, they don't even include signature based detections for Cryptoware if you're not on the latest version of their product and they don't warn you at all about it. It's when you directly ask them that they finally answer. Seriously, TrendMicro isn't worth using at all, at home like at work.

hello and welcome to TSF

I am not sure of you can access the site. Google does the same thing, it reads your IP address then redirects to match your IP, in this case you must be living in the Uk or close and the webpage reads your IP and see's your in the Uk or close by, and redirects you the UK site.

Hi,

I have an Excel spreadsheet with an address column.

The entire address is in one cell but I want to split it so that each line of the address is in a cell of its own.

Each line of the address is separated by what I think is a return character(a box with what looks like a question mark in it).

Is this possible?

Cheers
Paul

A:Excel - Change address so each line appears in its own cell

yes, you may be able to do a Text to Columns or use find/search and look for that character - can you provide details of the exact character - if you load a dummy spreadsheet with one example can you change the name - so personal info is not loaded or part of the address so its dummy

Is this possible? a service I use supposedly directs me to websites on various topics but they are displayed not as a URL but as an IP address. Am I missing something

A:Locating a website by it's IP address

Well an url like:

http://127.0.0.1Click to expand...

is still an URL but, it just doesn't have a domain name and TLD. Having a web site doesn't require you to have a domain name. Web browsers change the domain name into an IP address anyways. It's just easier to remember a domain name then an IP address.

Ok this is my first post here so I'm not sure if it is in the right section or not.. sorry.

My question is.. I am having problems trying to get to a specific website using my computer or IP address. This website was undergoing maintance for a few days and they were upgrading their servers to handle more people and make it faster. It worked fine for me before they did this but now after it is over and fixed I cannot get to this website using my IP address. It just loads forever and finally comes up "page not found".

I know it is not a problem with their website but rather my IP address because it works just fine at my friends house and is very fast.

I also tried hiding my IP address using freeproxy.ca and it then works for me however not to full speed or accuracy which I need. This tells me that it is my IP address that is not working but I don't understand why. I didn't do any changes at all.. just waited for them to fix their sever and suddenly it doesn't work for me but works for everyone else.

Can somebody please help me? This is driving me crazy..

Hello,

Well, I have a dynamic IP address that changes, but even after it changed a certain website recognizes me somehow and won't let me sign up. How can they know it's me if the IP address has changed since my previous visit?

A:Is there any way for a website to identify me, other than thru the IP address?

Cookies....remove all cookies and temporary files.
You can use CCleaner for that. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck any offers of toolbars...especially Yahoo.
No need to use the Registry Cleaning tool and it has the ability to cause problems.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

You may have software installed by the website. Check in add/ remove and browser(s) add-ons.

This time, if you are successful in opening a new account, obey the rules...

It may also be the case that entire block of IP addresses have been blocked by the site. Not necessarily
because of your account. It could also be that your computer has been blocked because of spam or other malicious content.
One place to check: Blocklist Removal Center - The Spamhaus Project

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a webserver on my local network.

I have installed an Apache webserver on a Win2000 box called orange with IP address 10.0.0.2.

When I try to access this webserver from another machine in my local network, I can only access it by name, not by IP address.

http://orange returns the correct webpage
http://10.0.0.2 returns the following error message : "The page cannot be displayed"

I can ping and tracert the machine with both orange and 10.0.0.2 with the same result in both cases.

I'm trying to get the IP address running so I can use portmapping to redirect external users coming in on my gateway machine.

Any idea what could be the reason for this phenomena ?

Ex: type yahoo in address bar will take me directly to yahoo.com or type sevenforums will take me to sevenforums.com. After I format my pc and reinstall Windows 7 that feature stop working. Now if I type yahoo or sevenforums it will just take me to google search result page.
Things I have tried:
1. Reset IE9
2. Uninstall and Reinstall IE9
3. urlTemplate is enabled
4. one-word to intranet website is enabled
5. Search in address bar is enabled
6. Top result search is enabled
7. Autocomplete is enabled but I don't think it matters because I'm using inPrivate which doesn't saves history.

Everytime I try to type something in the address line of my IE 6.0 window, I get the "Internet Explorer has encountered errors and must be shut down" message. Then I click on either SEND REPORT or DON'T SEND REPORT and IE restarts. What the heck is wrong with it? If a site is in the drop down list of IE, then it doesn't do that, only when typing in a new website address.

Also, is there a way to make Windows media player my default for mp3s instead of quicktime without uninstalling quicktime?

thanks!

Hello Everyone,
Could anyone please help me regarding my outlook issue. My outlook problem is.
In the status line of my outlook 2013 it shows "ALL folders are up to date. Updating address book. Connected to Microsoft Exchange"
When I restart Outlook or reboot, the "Updating
address book" goes away for a few minutes, but then it comes back. Apparently, the address book is stuck in updating. I have tried manually downloading the address book, but it does not work for me.
Thank You!

A:Updating address book continuously showing in the status line of outlook

Hi
Go to C:\Users\%user profile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books, deleted contact under this "offline Address books" folder, then restart Outlook.

Hey guys, newbie here.

I have a friend that says Apple Fraud Prevention contacted him and claims that an Ipod Order was made over the Internet on the Apple website from his IP address using his name, but that somebody else's credit card was used.

He knows nothing about this. He doesn't even have an Apple account.

He thinks that his wireless internet was hijacked by some neighbor kids and they somehow used his IP to order an Ipod using his name but somebody else's credit card.

Is this possible?

How can he prove that somebody hijacked his IP? I know you have to log into the Apple website to order an Ipod, so is this even possible with a hijacked IP address?

Seems like the data would be returned to his computer (the real IP address) and that the hijackers could never complete the Order.

Thanks in advance!

I am helping a charity which suffers a lot from spam and virus e-mails. They have a website on which their e-mail address is openly displayed. I guess this address has been visited by automatic e-mail harvester programs because they receive up to 300 spam and virus mails per day.

I'm not at all technical with websites, so I'm looking for a very simple solution. Would it be more secure to put this on the website, for example:

"[email protected] (Remove 500 from the e-mail address)"

In other words, put an incorrect address on the website, but with an accompanying instruction which a human could read and interpret. Or in some other way to break up the address, like this:

"abc at provider.uk (replace 'at' with '@' to send a message. Leave no spaces.)"

Any basic advice much appreciated. I'm afraid that any technical advice about java script or the like will go straight over my head ...

Thanks.

Swish

A:How to securely display an e-mail address on a website ?

The first version would not be that good since the spam would still get sent to the fake address putting a load on the provider.uk mailserver or some poor sod who actually has this fake address.

Another solution would be to put up a picture of the address.

Hi Everyone,

I'm an independent consultant with my own laptop but have recently acquired a new client who wishes for me to use their email address (as opposed to my own company's email address) when communicating with customers as if I am an actual employee of this client. If I set the new email address up in my Outlook program, how secure is the information on my laptop? E.g. since the new company email will be communicating via their server, can this company view data on my laptop such as websites visited or even have access to my files?

I hope I have explained this question clearly and would welcome any advice.

Thank you.
HelluvaGuy.

Hi,
Newbie here.

If I type www.google.com into the address bar I get "Can't find page".
But if I type 64.233.187.99 , I go straight to Google. It is the same with any address.

This is a 1-2 yo Asus board running XP Pro. It is attached to a Trendware wireless router. There is one other desktop hard-wire connected and a laptop using it's wireless to also connect to the router - they work just fine.

I've run AVG, AdAware, Spybot, Pest Patrol, CWShredder, Windows Defender, Trojan Remover and McAfee Stinger(Stng260) - in Safe Mode - nothing found.

I've replaced cables, added a PCI NIC to it, added a PCI wireless adapter to it - to no avail. Uninstalled and re-installed IE6, loaded Fire Fox - same thing.

The first time I brought the computer to another place and plugged in the DSL, the IE6 worked just fine. Brought it back to the house and it failed.
The second trip to another DSL and it failed again.

Attached is a HijackThif file.

I would appreciate any help that you can provide. Thanks

Sorry, missed the instruction on no attach. Here's the hjt log:

So we have a server at one of the places I work that is a domain controller and DNS server, as well as an smtp server.

The domain is named companyname.com.
The website is, you guessed it, companyname.com.

Now why they set this up like this, I don't know, but because they have, every now and then, the DNS server decides to point companyname.com to the domain controller, and ignore the fact that I have a www Host(A) record pointing to the web server's external IP address, and a record saying that companyname.com should also point to the web server's address.

The problem seems to stem from that when the server reboots for updates... it of course forces the DNS server records to update, and it puts an entry in there that contradicts my static records, with the domain controller's local address in for companyname.com

Can I force it NOT to put a certain entry in there, or rather not update a certain entry that it has in there?
Or can I force it to treat my static records as primary?

I'm fairly new to this, as I've not dealt with this issue before... and I'm out of ideas.

A:DNS server pointing to domain controller instead of website address

Hmm; for the External DNS accessible to the web

create a CNAME for www.company.name
create another for dns.company.name.
each pointing to unique IP addresses
this dns ONLY supports publicly available services; NOTHING internal

the Domain Controller should have a SEPARATE DNS, internal to the LAN, not accessible to the Web.
Internal users configured to -> internal DNS which performs recursive lookup to your ISP's DNS.

Well a website that is for online dating has created a user as i believe with my email address, i have not signed up to this website. Firstly i am too young to be a member of such website under 18, and i keep getting people wanting to talk to me and sending emails to my personal address.

I have emailed the websites support twice expressing my concerns but i would like to know exactly what i could do about this but i am still unsure as i don't think i can complain to anyone or take things further.

They have failed to reply to 2 of my emails

A:Website has created a user with my email address (which i didn't sign up to)

Maybe someone signed you up for the site as a joke.

You could log in to the site. Look around for a way to delete your account. If you find one, delete it.
