LTE WWAN Modules for T430 with Windows 10

Q: LTE WWAN Modules for T430 with Windows 10

Hi again, I got mobile broadband to work on my T430 just hours ago only to discover that it is rather slow. I will now need a LTE/4G compatible WWAN module, which are unfortunately not whitelisted. I understand that I will need to change the PID of the new module, by plugging it in while the laptop is in sleep mode but it appears that the process is different for each module. I found two compatible modules on eBay that ship from the UK within my budget (30): MC8805 and MC7710. How do I choose? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a T430 running Windows 10 Pro, and I am thinking of adding a WWAN card that I can use with a Google ProjectFi data-only SIM card. I know that Google does not offically support this setup, but if I can get an appropriate WWAN card for a modest price, I', willing to give it a try.

Hi, did anyone already try a different WWAN module than the default L850-GL on the P52? The L830-EB is only listed for the P52s, which is likely a different beast. The L850-GL lacks driver support for Linux (there are various posts on that already), which is mandatory for me. I've already try to Sierra EM8805 from my old notebook, but it seems to be blocked - or the WWAN slot of the P52 doesn't connect to a USB controller. TIA,Jan

I recently picked up a T430 on ebay. 2344-BPU, in mint condition. 8g, 128g SSD, Win10 Pro. WWAN-ready - no card, but antenna wires are present.I bought, from newegg.com, the Sierra MC7700. It came in a sealed box with a Lenovo label, and a brand new sim card. Installed the card and the sim card. Installed the driver package from the Lenovo site (g7w413ww.exe for Win10). Drivers installed successfully, but the card does not show up in device mgr. After much playing around with other stuff in Win10, I decided to yank the SSD & replace it with a hard drive & install Windows 7 Pro. Installed the driver package from the Lenovo site (g1w404ww.exe for Win7). Drivers installed successfully, but, again, the card does not show up in device mgr. Downloaded & tried to run Lenovo's LMBA, but it says "there is not a supported wireless wan card installed". There are no "unknowns" in Dev Mgr, and no error messages when booting. Everything else works just fine. This WWAN card is supposedly supported for the T430, but I'm having no success with it.Here's the info on the card:p/n on box: 0A36320, p/n on card: 0B42410, FRU on card: 04W42410, EC: 357608, Header code: VQ237Planar board p/n: 0B56240BIOS: 2.76Of course, I have no way to tell if the card is defective, as I don't have anyplace else to plug it in. Same for the slot - nothing else to plug in to test.Hope someone here can help. I'd like to see this work, it'd be a lot more convenient when traveling than the USB-attached air car... Read more

HI all I was wondering if someone could help me with my problem.I believe it was 2 years ago that I bought a Sierra Wireless WWAN card for my Lenovo T430, the person I bought it from said it was unlocked , I got it and installed it and everything worked fine with my original provider.Just resently I switch and the WWAN card would not connect so I read somewhere that you had to do a Switch modes from QMI to DIP which I did. After doing a restart the Lenov T430 will not boot and gives me a message saying that ?Unautorizedd network Card? This is weird as I did not have this problem prior to switching from QMI to DIP. The laptop booted up just fine. I have checked the card and it does not have one of the FRUs listed in the T430 Whitelist, which is even more weird because it should not have worked at all.I tried looking for the seller I bought it from to ask him what he did to the card to make it work in unsupported laptops but I cannot find him since I bought it so long ago.Can someone help to get this card working again in my Lenovo T430

Hi, Recently bought a T430 (Without Optimus). All's good except the Laptop Temp. The left Palm rest seems to get un usually warm, no matter what OS I am on. Its a dual boot by the way, Win 7 + Ubuntu 12.04.2. With Ubuntu or CentOS or Scientific Linux, the laptop gets unusually warm...The temp monitoring utility (lm_sensors) says that its at about 45 C. I get the same temp reading on Win 7 too, but somehow, the laptop just feels more warm with Linux than Win 7.As of right now, I am on Win 7 (for past 4-5) hours.....did some browsing, MS Sec Essentials did a full disk scan, I saw some youtube vids and was toying with some Perl Scripts, and the temp is at 45C, and the left palm rest is quite warm. Its warm enough that I have to stop typing every few minutes  Has anyone else noticed this issue? Is there a work around to this issue? Is there something I should worry about ? Please let me know. I installed the new updates a month ago. This problem though, has been there since a while. I searched the forum and found that another user who had a similar issue was told to upgrade the BIOS from 1.6 something to 2.50. A:Thinkpad T430 gets significantly warm on Win 7 as well as Linux. How about a fellow T430 user ?

In my experience, Linux isn't as good with power management as Windows. 45 degrees sounds about right for a current-gen Intel processor due to Turbo Boost causing temperature spikes as you use your system normally. As for the warm left palmrest, the hard drive sits under there, so maybe the drive just tends to produce more heat. Assuming you have a conventional hard drive, give it a defrag to reduce operating stress (and hence power consumption and heat output).

Hi everyone, I'm a student and planning to buy the Campus version of the Thinkpad T480s with the Nvidia chip. It doesn't come with a WWAN module, but I'd like to add one. Information on that topic seems sparse and I tried to look for M.2 slot WWAN modules at different online stores. I found a few ones, namely- Huawei ME906S, listed to be compatible with 2016 Thinkpads- Sierra EM7455, listed to be compatible with the *70 series Thinkpads- Fibocom L831-EA (Intel XMM 7160), listed to be compatible with *70 series Thinkpads According to this reddit, at least the Huawei and Sierra ones are incompatible unauthorized for a T480s which, if true, is simply inconvenient, annoying and disappointing. As I mentioned above, buying a Thinkpad with a pre-installed LTE module is not an option because I'd like to have the Nvidia chip and am buying a Lenovo Campus Thinkpad which comes at a reduced price (and in Germany, it's the only way to get one with an Nvidia chip). As the Lenovo configurator and the T480s platform specifications indicate, the Fibocom L830-EB (Intel XMM 7262) and Fibocom L850-GL (Intel XMM 7360) are officially used and should definitely be compatible. However, I can't find them anywhere except pre-configured with a Thinkpad, which is not an option for me. Can anyone please help me with either of the following:- Is the Fibocom L831-EA (Intel XMM 7160) authorized for and compatible with the T480s?- Is there any place where I can get a Fibocom L83... I just noticed for the first time that my Windows 10 Task Manager is showing significant (~25-30%) CPU usage for the Windows Modules Installer Worker.
The latest update I did was some Windows Defender updates this morning.
I am running 14393.321.

I did some research and discovered I could run the Windows 10 Windows Update Troubleshooter which gives me the option of Deleting and re-downloading the Updates or not. I don't know how many updates it would delete so I'm not going to click on it until I get some advice.

Anyone have any advice on this or even seen this before?

can anyone tell me why my Windowx XP sees only 1024 MB memory while I've increased the original memory of 512 MB by 2x 512 MB ?

All three modules has the type name KVR333X64C25/512, so I thought they would be compatible.

What have I done wrong ? And what can I do to let Windows XP know that it has 3x 512 MB at his disposal ?

AV won't start (side by side configuration error)

Windows modules installer service will not start (module not found)
Windows can't check for updates (80070005)

I working on an HP running (kind of) Home Premium, it was pretty well infested, first tried to install AV, would not run (side by side configuration) I was able to run MBAM, and SAS and TDSSkiller, got a lot of crap out of it. Most everything is back to normal but the problem with starting TrustedInstaller is persistent, the file does exist and I still can't start AV. Can't run SFC (windows resource failed to start the repair service) or get an update (windows can't check for updates 80070005)
TrustedInstaller service seems to be at the root of this. Microcrap support (a.k.a. the second most useless organization on the planet) is of course clueless.

I have the client sorting through her files to determine what she wants saved in preparation of a clean install, and thought I'd run by y'all just before I answer "are you sure".

Memtest86 works great to ID a bad memory module. But the only recourse with a Windows system is to throw away the module and replace it, which is spendy (and more likely with more RAM/stick) and very wasteful (if only a few addresses are defective, as is common). With Linux, Rick van Rein and Michal Schmidt built a sister program for Memtest86 to support RAMs with defective addresses, the Linux kernel support for broken RAM modules (version 2.6.18 as of today). Re: http://rick.vanrein.org/linux/badram/

Does anyone know if work is being done or has been done to build a BadRAM Patch for Windows similar to the BadRAM Patch for Linux?

Also, van Rein built an extension for Memtest86 to print badram=... to ID the specific bad RAM addresses, lines that can be entered on the next boot of a Linux system with the BadRAM Patch, so it knows the bad RAM addresses. Is anyone working on a similar extension for Windows?

A:Common Modules on Windows 7 x64 and HDMI problems

Common modules as separately tool exist for WXP only and you cannot use it for Win7. For Win7 you must use Value Added package.
Most important part of this package is ?Toshiba Components Common Driver?. It is something like common modules for WXP.

It is not easy to get proper answer. Just restart your notebook and test it again. if the problem persists try to test it on some other TV to see what will happen.
Post results and let?s see what can be next step to fix this.

did a reinstall on a laptop recently, got as many updates as possible, seem to have an issue with the Windows Modules Installer Worker using up a lot of CPU on the system, not sure what to do, I could try manually disable the service, but I would rather sort the issue head on, I have also noticed at the same time the Antimalware Service Executable is using 29/30% of the cpu too, the windows module installer is using about 50% its really dragging all the resources of the machine. anyone any ideas?

is does seem to be an on and off issue it behaves for a while then it starts again as though it's trying to do something! no doubt the updates or something, no idea what is getting in the way though or hogging the machine down.

A:TiWorker.exe or Windows modules installer worker using a lot of CPU

TiWorker.exe is the utility that completes the various tasks that are needed after an update to Windows.

The time taken for TiWorker.exe to complete depends on a number of factors, for example, the number of updates installed; the complexity of those updates; the total number of files that are impacted by or dependent upon the update.

You should not interrupt TiWorker.exe. Just let it do its "thing" either in the background or simply leave your computer ON overnight - by the morning it will all be sorted.

TiWorker.exe will use as much CPU time as is available. So if nothing much else is happening on the computer it will use up to 100%. This is not unusual. On my personal computers, after I have installed Windows updates I go and do something else and let Windows do all the "housekeeping" tasks that it needs to do after the updates are installed.

TiWorker.exe is also tasked with compressing the WinSxS (Windows Side by Side) Folder. Typically the WinSxS Folder is very large as it contains multiple copies of DLL's so as to enable multiple applications to run the same DLL. Depending on the updates and the installed software it can take some considerable time for this compression process to complete.

One way to clear the TiWorker.exe "problem" (which isn't really a problem) is to run Automatic Maintenance (Control Panel > Action Centre > Automatic Maintenance > Start Maintenance). This process can take some time so make sure t... Read more

Since then WMIW has been consistently using a lot of CPU - 40 to 60%. I understand it should run for a while. I understand there are two levels of optimization, and the second can drag on at low priority. The machine was barely used during this time.

I ran DISM /scanhealth and it came back with no corruption. Will this go away by itself?

Trying to change my wlan module, but realized that hp whitlists and many cards are not compatible with the bios. Looking at the list of compatible modulels in the manual online there are slim pickings. Is there a newer list that would feature newer cards? Or is there a list that only shows whats compatible with windows 10 seeing as the intel centrino n-1000 I have now is not compatible with windows 10? Either way, I wanted to upgrade, but looking at the list upgrades wouldn't be exciting. Is there a way around the whitelist?Any help would be helpful. thanks in advance.

Windows Modules Installer Worker is making my computer hang, and it uses up 50-70% of my CPU. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

A:Windows Modules Installer Worker is making my computer hang

Hi all,
I'm posting this as it may be of some help to others having high CPU usage with the Windows Modules
Installer Worker.

My problem started with a clean Win 8.1 install and after all the Windows updates were applied.
Follow the steps given below (From Microsoft support engineer PranavMishra5582)

Press and hold the ?Windows? button and the ?W? button on the keyboard. In the search box situated in the upper right corner we need to write ?Troubleshooting?Click(left click) on the ?Troubleshooting? icon. On the upper left corner of the Troubleshooting window we need to click(left click) on ?View All?Click (left click) on ?WINDOWS UPDATE?
ParanavMishra5582 suggests performing the ?System Maintenance?
troubleshoot as well.Click (left click) on ?Next? and follow the steps presented on the screen.
I rebooted my notebook and the problem appears to be solved.

Good luck!

A:T430 and Windows 10 Drivers

HiNo needs for additional, custom drivers pack. In order to use Ericsson H5321gw/C5621gw modems in the win10 IB based on machines, upgrade firmware before win10 installation:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x23...It's Lenovo official, approved, tested solution. So, honestly, the link to the custom pack on the external site should be removed according to the Community rules.Thanks.

I have tried unsuccessfully to upgrade a T430 to Windows 10 (from 7). On doing so, I have no LAN and no wi-fi. The WLAN card is a Centrino N6205. The T430's diagnosis is that the WLAN driver is at fault but I have installed the recommended driver from the Lenovo site. Any suggestions?

I have a T430 laptop running Windows 10.  The DVD drive powers off about 1 minute after starting Windows and will not power back on.  If I right click the device, I have the option of "Power On" but that gives the error "There was a problem starting C:\Windows\System32\Lenovo\PowerMgr\MWMTR32V.DLL The specificed module could not be found".  This specific DLL does not exist. I tried everything on all the forum but they seem out of date.  I gave up and fully reinstalled Windows (on 12/14/2018) from scratch and this problem came right back as part of the default installation.  I've tried deleting the "Lenovo Power Manager" and "Lenovo PM Device", I've tried the Vantage application from the store, I've checked all the startup jobs, etc.  None of those things work.  I installed Power Manager version dated 09 Oct 2018 directly from the Lenovo site and that doesn't work either. It appears that Lenovo's drivers are automatically installed on Windows 10 and simply don't work.  Is there anything I can do to either fix this or just turn off the power manager?  Until I do something, my DVD is constantly powered off and useless.

Hello there,  I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430. I bought it used but in very good condition. Since it didn't come with a HHD installed so i had to buy a seperate HHD and install windows 7 by my own.* It did have the problem before, when i bought it first about a year ago, and i somehow managed to resolve the problem by help of some guys here in this same forum. But all my bad that i don't remember where was the solution.* Now i have decided to shift to SSD, and for that i bought a Samsung 128GB SSD and installed the same Windows 7, and this time i used the Lenovo's own software to detect and install all my drivers and here i come with the same problem again, this time my webcam also not coming up.Eventhough i have tried all my best from installing all the drivers avaialble in the lenovo site and also on the support pages but no help.* Some guys says its a hardware problem or a cable is not intact but i have checked both of them,1. The cable is intact i am sure,2. May be a hardware problem but why it happened before the same way and i resloved it without any hardware change.3. And What is the problem with my webcam?4. What am i missing, all the drivers and softwares are properly installed as per the device manager shows. * And i am sorry but this forum has no good helping enveroment, I am sure this isn't only my problem but since people don't get help from here therefore, they don't contact the forum. But i can't leave it as it is! So all you guys please prove... Read more

Dear umarch,
Welcome in lenovo community,
Please try to uninstall the USB drivers from the device manager, then restart the laptop (Must be connected to the internet) and let the windows identify the USB drivers by itself.

I cannot get my camera working with any application.  For example in Skype it says "No device found".  The camera is enabled in BIOS but does not appear in Device manager.  I tried installing the driver from Lenovo website and it says driver already installed, I overwrote it anyway with no success.  When I press Fn+F6 it takes me to Lenovo Advantage (successor to Lenovo Settings) but the camera is not showing here either.
