Q: Solved: Internet access problem with WiFi. Wired internet works fine.

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 with Windows 7. I have been using Time Warner Internet. It worked fine until yesterday. WiFi stopped working out of the blue. When I tried, wired connection works pretty well. I do not recall any significant changes to my computer while this happened. So now I can connect to the wifi hotspot but it says "No Internet Connection". When I connect the LAN wire with the WiFi router, internet works. The moment I remove it, it says No Internet Access, although computer is connected to the hotspot and signal is very well.

The drivers are being shown as up to date in device manager.

I tried following instructions given here: http://www.wikihow.com/Repair-Winsock-and-TCP/IP
This didn't work. Problem persists.

I have been through some threads around here. This is the ipconfig output:

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, I am new here. I have an HP Pavilion entertainment laptop. Everything was functioning just fine. Then, windows update happened. It was a critical update that cannot be undone. I performed the update. Immediately after all of the preinstaled HP software quit working. I fought and fought and I have most of it working again but all of it is very buggy and crashes a lot. HP Help and support and HP health no longer work. I had to install the vista versions and I run them in compatibility mode. They still don't work rite. Another critical update was released and then my internet port on the side stopped working. My laptop cannot connect to the internet through it but will via wireless. In the hardware manager my internet card shows up as the driver failing to load. It is Realtek PCB family controller. Uninstalls and re installs don't work. I even used a registry cleaner (registry first aid) to uninstall it so as to remove all the registry keys. Letting windows try to install the driver fails as does letting the realtek software try. Also, every reinstall just adds a number to the end of it. I am on Realtek (3) now. I need to get this driver to work but it will not. I am not seeing a whole lot about it so I guess this isn't a common problem. Everything else I have works fine so far as I can tell. I also tried using the file browser to hunt down all things realtek related and delete them. Windows just gives me the new hardware box, puts back what I del... Read more

My PC with windows 7 is the only computer with issues in the house. Ethernet works perfectly but wifi doesn't even when I don't have the ethernet hooked up. The wifi says it is connected but browsers, steam, and Itunes don't work. I have Bitdefender A/V and already tried uninstalling it, no change. I also uninstalled steam and Itunes with still no change. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the wireless adapter. I tried looking and I don't recall downloading or installing anything around the time the problem started. Before I try replacing the adapter itself, I was hoping for help here since I saw a very similar problem in another thread.

I hooked up a brother MFC-790CW fax/scan/printer to my wireless/wired belkin router. I have a desktop that is hardwired to the router and it can access the MFC-790 with no problems and in several different configurations. BUT, the laptop just won't talk to it. WHY? The laptop has no trouble connecting to the router and accessing the internet. I have installed all of the MFC-790 software. The laptop successfully pings each entitiy on my network. So, I'm stumped. The laptop has a Marvel Yukon wireless adapter. Maybe there are some issues there. I don't know. My laptop is using Windows XP. Do I need to upgrade it to Vista or windows 7? I thought that maybe I needed a print server or a residential gateway, but the guys at the geek squad said "no, it should work". I have since found that the MFC-790 has a printer server in it. So that is not the problem. I suspect that the laptop would access the printer just fine if I wired it to the router. So I think that the wireless aspect of this puzzle is where I need to focus. But I can't see why the laptop can access the internet wirelessly through the router but not the printer. Would love any input on this. Thanks.

Hi,

On my desktop computer, all access to the internet is blocked except for one program. (Slavanap). people can log into me there, Also, it seems my windows firewall somehow got disabled.
It did not start that way though, At first, It seemed that I could just not use windows Explorer, everytime I would open it it would crash, but using google chrome, it worked fine. then slowly that stopped working as well, and I started using Mozilla firefox that i had on the computer and it worked ok till I rebooted. now nothing works except for that one program, slavanap.

I did a windows network diagnostics and everything passed except the DNS and HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity. They all failed.
So it seems i have a DNS failure on all levels of the test. The HTTP part of th test fails on all levels as well. everything else passes
Under HTTP, HTTPS test,  I get an error 12007 "The address could not be resolved.

My laptop can access the internet, though without a problem via the same modem, so I am assuming that It is not the modem and it is not my service provider, but rather some kind of malware on the computer that changed settings and disabled my firewall. It is greyed out so it cannot be turned on. When I tried to turn it on another way it told me the firewall service was off and when it tried to turn it on it failed. It said it is controlled by group policy.  I checked group policy and I do not see anything that is disabled.

Several scans have been preformed before posting this, it was infected with zeroaccess rootkit, which I can no longer see traces of. Here is whats been done so far, this is over a remote connection to this pc so I want to make sure if possible, that everything looks ok before booting back into normal mode to test.
ran TDDSkiller, rogue killer, tweaking.com tool. Rogue Killer found lots of traces of zeroaccess, ran tdds in normal mode, as well as adw. Not 100% sure but I believe Hitman pro and Malwarebytes was run as well, Bit Defender endpoint is installed as well. I do not have the log files for them, so we will start from scratch.

Hey all,

I had an annoying virus the other day, and ended up removing it with MalawareByte in safe mode. But all of a sudden I noticed when I tried to connect to the iTunes store it instantly gave me an error saying "connection timed out, Check network settings", yet my internet (wired) works fine browsing with firefox etc. Then I noticed when I launched Steam it wouldn't display anything on the Steam store except a white screen that says "Navigation to this store was canceled". Same thing happened with every application I tried that uses the internet for updates etc. I even tried Windows update, and I go the same thing.

Like I said- The internet itself works fine, Browsing and downloading have no Issue.

I'm running Vista 64bit, current updates installed as of a week or so ago. Other computers on my network don't have the problem, so it must be something with this machine.

I don't have any antivirus software running, and Windows firewall/security center is completely turned off.

It's probably something simple, but I've messed with every network setting I can think of to no avail. I haven't found an answer to this specific problem anywhere, but people with similar problems seemed to have luck with putting their Vista disc in and doing a repair. My copy of Vista is completely genuine, but it may take me all weekend to hunt for my disc.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Setup DMZ for the affected computer Routers contain firewalls and other network technology that may be causing this problem, but most also have support for a "Demilitarized Zone" (DMZ) computer which is not put behind the firewall. This is a convenient way to test the router, and users should first find what IP address is being given to their computer, and then set that IP address as the DMZ computer. If iTunes connectivity works, then the problem is clearly with the firewall settings in the router.

Ensure ports 80 and 443 are open The router should have internet ports 80 (http) and 443 (https) open by default, but it is possible some setting has changed to restrict these ports in some situations, possibly by them being reserved for a specific IP address on the network through port forwarding. These settings can be automatically set in some cases, so users should check and remove any port forwarding or port triggering settings that might include these numbers.

Disable Firewalls Routers usually contain some sort of firewall which is enabled by default. As a test, users might try disabling the various firewalls that are on the router. These might include NAT, SPI, or content filters, in addition to "true" firewalls which block specific ports and services. If any options to disable firewalls are available in the router's settings, users are encouraged to try turning them off.

Hello,

Here is my issue: I got Verizon DSL for my business and hooked it up to the server to allow internet access. If I hook it up from modem to pc, the internet works fine with no drops. If I add a wireless router into the mix, my problems begin.

My hook up: The server already has a wired router with 3 other computers connected to the router for the business Point of sale program. The router is hooked up to the Ethernet port on the PC. When I got the DSL and wanted the wireless router added to the server so I can access the net when I come into the business and have my laptop with me, I decided to add a Ethernet PCI card to the computer and hook up the modem and wireless router to that card so I could do the DSL installation without disturbing the work computers. All seemed well or I thought.

My problem: When I hooked everything up I got internet and thought all was good. After about 20 minutes I lost internet on the server (the wired part) but I had my laptop out and checked it with that and I was browsing the net on the wireless laptop. I rebooted computer, powered cycle the modem and router and got internet access on the server again. 20 minutes later, internet access lost again but my laptop was fine.

After many attempts and phone calls into Linksys, I figured it must have been the router. I returned the router and got another wrt54g router and attempted the configuration again. Same thing happened with the new router too.

My diagnostics: I checked the wired router... Read more

It's definitely a dns settings somewhere. It could be in your network settings itself or IE could be set (causing the system too) to use a proxy server. Check that it is not. If you need help doing that, let us know.

If you have mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager, you have the Bonjour service installed. In this case, also let us know.

I personally disable the dns client. If you'd like to do the same, type services.msc in the start menu and hit enter. You can do so here.

If you don't disable the service, then run this instead at an elevated command prompt:

Code:
ipconfig /flushdns
If it still doesn't work out and you don't have the things mentioned, Google on how to set a static ip address and use a free dns server while doing so, from OpenDns website.

Thanks!

H'Okay, So I'm trying to hook up the internet to two computers.
One computer(windows vista) is wired straight to a router.(This one-->http://www.sigelectronics.com/core/media/media.nl?id=18358&c=666363&h=4a8711b8216d4c4aea31 )
The other(Windows XP) is hooked up to one of those stick-internet-recievy-thingies. (This thing: http://www.yinfor.com/blog/archives/images/dlink-wua-1340-wifi.jpg )

So, the one with the stick thing works all nice and dandy, but the one that's hooked to the router won't work. A pop-up thing comes up and says that both computers have the same IP. But, I thought that was supposed to be how it worked with a router?

So... I have no idea what to do about this. : S
Help?

A:Internet problem, wireless works, wired doesn't?

All devices on a network must have a unique IP address. If you have assigned one or both a static IP address then change it/them. If both are using dynamic addressing then shut them both down and unplug the router. Then plug in the router followed by booting the computers.

Dell Latitude D520 running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. Everything about this laptop works fine except for its wireless ethernet. Even the wireless ethernet works fine when accessing the internet and when downloading files; but, when accessing the LAN, I get 'access denied' sometimes and other times I get sl-o-o-o-o-w transfers of files and messages telling me the files I'm copying or running are corrupt.

Example: I attempted to copy a file across my LAN to this laptop. On the WiFi, it copied very slowly for about 10 minutes or so and finally aborted when the bar graph showed about 20% complete. On the wired ethernet, the same file copied successfully in about 12 seconds.

I've checked the settings for the wired and wireless NIC and I can't find any differences.

To be clear, the wired LAN does fine for both internet and LAN access. The wireless ethernet works fine for the internet and presents the problem only when accessing the LAN.

Hey everyone! I have an issue with internet connectivity. I used the internet (via wifi) yesterday and it worked fine. Turned the computer on after 4 hours and no internet. Must have lost power during that time (no lights on modem/router) so I rebooted the modem, router and laptop. I showed connected to the wifi with no internet. My father had me plug in directly out of the modem. I did this and still had no internet. Our modem showed a flashing pc activity light (wifi and wired). Tried a wifi hotspot today and showed connected with no internet. When I ran the troubleshoot I received the following (home and hotspot): Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding. My computer works fine otherwise. Also, my parent’s laptop works like a champ (last night and today) on the internet (wifi). Trying to get this cleared up before classes start next week. There may be a slight delay in my responses due to the problem. Any help is truly appreciated. Thanks!

My internet works fine with the wire from modem directly connected into the laptop but when the wire from modem is connected to the router, I am not able to access the internet.
I tried to make my laptop (Running windows 7 64 bit os) as the router and i can easily access net on my other devices.

I thought there is a problem with my router. So I took my router to my cousins place who has the same ISP provider. And to my surprise ,my router worked perfectly there.
I cannot understand what i can do to fix my problem.
My ISP just provides me the wire , the modem is installed somewhere out. I just get the wire from the modem.

My ISP gives dynamic ip addresses. I have to login in the site portal.beamtele.com every time i connect the wire to my ethernet port of the laptop.
I took the router to my friends place sharing the same ISP with the same package. My router worked fine there.
i brought his Belkin router to my home to check. And at my place, it didnt work.

Alright, so this is my dilemma. I am connected to the internet through a wired connection. I am also setting up a wireless printing network. Here is the problem, whenever I connect to the wireless router so that I can share my printer, I cannot browse on the internet. The vista network logo on the toolbar also loses the "earth" in the symbol, but yet says that I am connected to local and internet.

Now what really confuses me is that I can still use AIM, but yet both firefox and IE does not connect to the internet. As soon as I disconnect from the Wireless network, my internet comes right back. I have searched for hours on this and could not find much other than changing my metric setting, which also didn't change anything. I believe it is a vista setting, because others with the same basic setup, except for the fact that they have XP, can still connect to the WiFi and browse the internet through the LAN.

A:Solved: Cannot browse the internet wired when connected to a separate WiFi

The direct solution to your problem is to assign a static IP address (make sure it is outside the wireless router Dhcp server's address range) and mask, leaving the Gateway and DNS blank.

Windows XP defaults to the wired connection when multiple Gateways are specified, which may explain why the other PCs do not have the same problem.

There is a reason why you need to use two different networks?

I have an Acer laptop (Windows 7) and SMC router.

The laptop connects to the wireless network but it says 'no internet access'. Troubleshooting nets me the information that "the DNS Server isn't responding".

The laptop can easily connect to the internet via ethernet.
It also connects wirelessly without issue to my phone's hotspot.
I have other computers that connect wirelessly through the SMC router to the internet without issue.
The laptop used to connect to the internet wirelessly through this same router. I did not use the laptop for a couple of weeks and when I fired it up again the wireless would not go to the internet.

To recap, there is nothing wrong with the wireless adapter on the laptop. The router's wireless network is fine and dandy.

So how can I get the laptop to understand the wireless signal is fine so connect to the internet already?

there is no internet connection. I can see the other devices in the network map (I see the Brother printer and the Roku boxes) that are on this side of the firewall, but Internet access past the firewall is not available (red X between router and Internet).
I have done a virus scan using both MalwareBytes and AVG (in safe mode), and there are no virus found by either. I can reconnect the crappy Actiontec router and everything is fine. I also tried bringing the router, wifi access point and Win7 laptop (that
was NOT connecting to the internet at my home) to my office and connected it all here, and it works fine!

SOLUTION: In typical techie fashion as soon as i ask for help I solve the problem. I did crtl + r -> ncpa.cpl -> properties -> configure -> advanced -> network access -> Type in the unique address seen for the network adapter when ipconfig is run, type it without dashes. This worked immediately.

My PC is Windows 8.1 and it hasn't had internet issues before. Last night it stopped connecting to the internet. This morning is has been the same. Wireless connections are working fine but my desktop doesn't have a wireless card so i need to fix the wired issue with it.

I've tried the ethernet cable on other devices and they work, so i think it must be PC settings. I PC restored to last night 7pm and it didn't fix it. I've tried ipconfig /release and /renew and it didn't work. I've tried uninstalling AVG and turning off firewalls. I still am getting the yellow triangle with "no internet access"

IPv4 Address 192.168.0.7
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

I've tried updating network card drivers and disabling and re-enabling it. Anyone able to help please?

I have no problem at all connecting to the internet via the wireless connection in my new desktop. But often when I connect with the LAN enabled it simply refuses to connect. The problem is very repeatable with yahoo.com, att.com/speedtest and other sites. I can see and access the rest of my network fine wired only. And on the occasions I have been able to connect, the speed tests are fine.

I just have no idea why it occasionally refuses to connect (have not been able to connect to these sites for several hours now after multiple reboots) via wired and never has any issues over wireless. I have already disabled the router firewall and have the same issue with all non-windows services disabled.

Have you tried connecting another computer to the router by ethernet or used another cable just to elimate those as possible problems?
You might try uninstalling the NIC, then reboot the computer and let it rediscover and reinstall the NIC. Sometimes just reinstalling the drivers witout removing the device from the system doesn't work.
Other than that, I am not sure what to suggest right now.

Information that would be helpful.

Yesterday on my personal laptop (Dell E1505 running XP SP3), I got a message box saying something about port forwarding and that I wouldn't be able to get to my website, or something like that. Unfortunately, I didn't pay much attention to the message and dismissed it. Now, I can't get to the internet using wireless. Here are some details:
Another laptop connects to my wireless network and the internet just fine
All was working fine on the Dell until I got that message
I've checked the event log and can't find anything relevant around the time of the message
Connecting to the network/internet with ethernet cable works fine.
I'm definitely connected to my wireless network because I was able to open shared files on another PC
Other, likely non-related issues:

I'm having a little problem with the hard drive and will need to run chkdsk
Sometimes I get an error regarding the display adapter driver.
Thanks.

However, if I do anything through a router I can barely get a signal or a connection even to google.
Here's what I've tried so far....
I have a Belkin45 Router and a Netgear WGR614 Router
I have gone straight from the cable modem through each router into the ethernet port of the computer...nothing
I have gone from the modem to the router and used my Netgear wireless USB and I get a signal from the router, I scan the network and find the router no problem but still can not connect to the internet. Did this with each router and found each one no problem.
I have tried 6 different cables
I keep getting server not found or time outs.
Like I said, weird.

A:Internet works fine...until going through router

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Let's try this with either of the routers:

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
Boot the computer.

Ok, after updating XFire and getting a typical "Memory can't be read" error, my internet on my XP Machine stops working. So far, i've tried a virus scan (with weeks-old definitions) and Ad-Aware (again, weeks-old definitions), and a uninstall/reinstall of my NIC (Intel Pro/1000 CT) and it does not want to detect the connection at all.

In addition, my computer in general has just gotten "slow" considering its not breaking a sweat, and its a P4 2.80 GHz. It takes a few seconds just to start a program which would take a split second. I'm assuming this is tied in with the internet problem, or this is the cause.

I would really appreciate the help, you all seem like nice people.

Further specs:

Intel P4 2.80 GHz HT
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
1GB DDR
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
Intel Pro/1000 CT NIC
2 80GB Hard drives
NETGEAR WGR614
Toshiba PCX1100 Cable Modem
Comcast cable internet

Please give me a hand, I would appreciate it.

Hello, everyone. A computer of a friend of mine, an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with 64-bit Vista installed on it, recently refused to open any webpages with any of the browsers installed (IE8, FF and Chrome), while other applications which do not use port 80 by default work just fine (i.e. MSNmsgr, WinUpdate etc.)
The problems started after I removed a few viruses off the computer and Removed the trial version of Norton, which has expired prior to that. I tried to do some troubleshooting -- disabled the Windows Firewall, uninstalled AVG (which is also known for causing issues) and ran "netsh winsock reset catalog" with no result, so now I don't know what else there is I can do, so I'm looking for some help.

A:Internet works fine, browsers don't

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work. Also, the < and > in the text is to identify the parameters, they are also NOT used in the actual commands.

Do NOT include the <> either, they're just to identify the values for substitution.

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 74.125.45.100

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. (For Vista/Win7, the IPv4 Address)

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

I have an annoying issue with my internet connection. From time to time i can't connect to Steam, Battle.net or download from torrents (I'm mentioning torrents becuase there might be a connection). I share the internet with 10 other people all of them connected mostly via wi-fi. Is is possible that the connection is too low to connect to the already mentioned above servers? There is nothing wrong with my pc or internet settings because it works fine for a week and then all of a sudden not. Once we tried to hard reset the main router and after that it worked just fine.
Realy don't know what might be the reason and I would love to finally find out what's causing it.
The router is http://www.planet.com.tw/en/product/...t.php?id=34631
The modem is provided by austrian telecom company and is this one Pirelli PRG AV4202N

Thank you all for any help.

A:Internet works fine still cannot connect

It is possible that it could be a network congestion. Does your computer wireless adapter display any diagnostic as to why the connection was lost?

Having issues with one of my PCs in my Home Network. I run DSL/Wireless Router and all my wireless devices run good but my ethernet connection on my Main PC's has issues. Hard to explain but it seems to work fine after booting machine but after a short while of surfing, it loses speed. It doesn't lose connection, just speed. Have done multiple speed tests and the same bad results. I have tested my laptop on the ethernet connection and seems to work fine. Replaced the PCI ethernet adapter in the machine and did not fix the problem. Tried all ports on the router, same results. Any assistance would be great!

Hello, All.

First let me start by saying, i was running WinXP MCE. The PC doesn't connect to the Internet via the NIC built in. But i plugged in my Netgear WT111 wireless adaptar and it connect to my VPN and then i can get online. The NIC's LAN connection is always showing "Unidentified Network" "Limited Connectivity"
I googled it. and could not find anyone else with the same issue. So i figured, fine. i'll install Vista and then everything will go away because new OS means fresh start. I was wrong. So now i have Vista Ultimate with the same problem. Things i have done.

-Then i tried the instructions in this MS page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
- then i tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325356
- i also tried to update the drivers for the Network card. but it's already at the newest update.
- then i uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. nothing worked.

but yet, the wireless is fine.

i am Running
Gateway GM5259E
Windows Vista Ultimate
Intel D proc 2.8GHz
1014 RAM
32 bit sys

my network card is a:
intel pro/100 VE

Hello all. I have been on the phone with a co-worker for about a hour and a half trying to diagnose and solve this problem. With no progress made I'd figured I'd turn to my friends here. I will try to provide as much information as possible though I cannot physically touch this computer.

Symptoms/info:
Cannot access internet
Ping command successfully finds and pings www.google.com and the router(D-Link Router & wireless card)
Computer runs XP SP3
Connects wirelessly to router - too far for cable.

Attempted fixes:
Assigned IP automatically
Repaired
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt was used

Thats all I can remember right now - any questions please ask. Thanks for your help.

Hello again, everyone!  So, I got 2 more new problems on both of my computers.  The first problem is on my Windows 7 laptop.  There are times when I want to open a web page & it won't load up quickly.  I have to wait like 30 seconds to a minute until it loads up.  Then, everything works fine for 30 minutes to an hour until the Internet gets slow to load up again & then everything works fine again.  This has been happening for the last couple of months.  My laptop isn't even that old.  It is 2 years old.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times but I cannot seem to find my exact issue anywhere. Hopefully this helps myself and anyone who runs into this issue.

To start, I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Everything worked 100% fine with absolutly no issue and then.... I moved. Now we have Fios instead of Comcast.

Now to the issue. When I have the ethernet connected I cannot get internet access but I have full network access. I went out and purchased a new wirless card and wirless works just fine. I tested 2 different cables, recrimped both of them and nothing. I have activity on the PC and the Router so I am sure they are good.

I have tried everything I have read online, Updated Realtek Family PCI Ethernet drivers from MSIglobal. Disabled/Enabled. ipconfig /flushdns, /release and /renew. I went as far as Backing up and reformating the Hard Drive and before reinstalling the backup I tested it and nothing. Restored my backup file and yep.. nothing.

Its kind of frustrating. I'm not exactly and expert but i am in no way a novice either. This one has me stumped. Im thinking maybe it is a windows service that is not set to start correctly but I figured I would creat a post while I am at work and maybe have and answer to test before I hunt through the services tonight.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks

This sounds more like a router problem to me. Have you tried resetting your router then using the ipconfig /all command?

Trying to connect to internet using IE9 says no internet connect detected, but chrome works fine. I'm running Windows Vista. Also trying to download AT&T U-verse McAfee but no internet connection detected or McAfee server not available. I also have Norton loaded.

A:IE9 won't connect to internet but Chrome works fine

some things to try, disable all installed addons and toolbars to see if one is causing the problem. go to advance options in settings and return ie to default, go into safemode with network to see if you can get online.

So I have 2 laptops, a win 7 and a win 8,
The windows 7 laptop works on the internet fine, but the windows 8 one always disconnects, even when the win 7 isn't on.
It disconnects usually when I'm running multiple programs that use the internet on it, but when I run a game like counter-strike, it disconnects too, but not nearly as often.

The router is from 2008 or 2009, but it's a tiny aztech one. I'm sure it's not the isp, because like I said, the other laptop works fine.

A:One laptop works fine, but the other keeps on disconnecting from the internet

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site.. Reinstall it if you already have it.

What do you do to regain connection after it has been lost?
