Hey guys, i am using sony vaio s series. Whenever my battery reaches 10% it will auto hibernate(VERY ANNOYING as it cuts off my internet connection) it self until i plug in the power supply. Any idea how to make it alert me at 10% and when reaches 5% then auto hibernate?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
There are several things you can try. Go through this page and try them one by one.

Hello. Recently, everytime i started my laptop, i've been receving a message stating "The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.Primary (Internal) battery (601)."In fact, i noticed the laptop is descharging way faster than when i bought it three years ago.Searching on the Net, though, i've read about people saying that, in this case, the battery to be replaced is not the internal one but the removable one.I'd like to ask what battery is actually the one to be replaced. Thanks for the attention. @Gialdof? You are correct it is the external/main battery. Remove that one and then boot. The error should go away. REO

I own two new Dell Laptops, one a Precision workstation and the other an everyday Latitude, both running Win 7 Pro. Both have new batteries, so that's not an issue. Please do not suggest I check my battery. My system power settings are correct for both AC power and on battery, so that's not a problem either.
I replaced a Dell XP machine and an older Compaq machine running a Win 7 32 bit upgrade from Vista. Both of the older machines, upon reaching the preset low power settings limits, would open a pop up window on my desktop and alert me to either save my work and shut down or plug in the power cord. It would supersede and open on top of any work windows I had open. Both of the two new machines have no such pop open alert window and my computer often hibernates unexpectedly. Not a crisis, but a real pain when in the middle of work. I know that there are taskbar icon notifications and audible alert tones, but neither is useful for me. I must keep my computer muted when working and my taskbar is set to extreme hi-res with small icons, so you can't really notice the taskbar alert when concentrating on your work. Is the desktop pop open alert window gone forever, just turned off somehow, or what? Some one please advise. Thank you.
PS - I should explain. When I write "concentrating on my work", I mean that I create complex 3D solid models for expensive tooling and manufacturing businesses in a program which often is on top of the taskbar for screen optimization. They require my full attention and, as the result, the taskbar low power notification is pretty much useless for me. The desktop pop up window, which doesn't now open, worked great.
Read other 1 answersHi everyone, So, yesterday I started up my computer and the fan was running unusually high and then shut off immediately. I plugged my charger into my notebook and then started it up only to find the Primary (internal) Battery (601) message popping up. This laptop is just over a year old so I searched up on HP forums and found the fix where you uninstall the 'ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery', turn off your laptop, unplug the charger and charge it into a wall outlet, and then starting up your computer. I repeated that process twice and then my battery worked again. I ran a diagnostic test and it showed that my battery was still at 90% capacity. All seemed well so I went to sleep, only to find that the same problem occured when I woke up and tried to turn on my computer - wouldn't start, alert message, uninstalled the driver twice and then it finally worked, and my battery is holding its charge now. Does anyone have any suggestions or input that might be helpful? Thank you.
Read other answersRecently I checked the charging status and it said 3% plugged in, not charging. I tried restarting multiple times and looked for solutions and nothing works. Also, before startup a battery alert pops up saying: HP Battery AlertThe system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low.For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.Primary (internal) Battery (601)ENTER - Continue Startup I tried updating the BIOS and tried using HP Support Assistant to check the Battery Status but when I do it, it says the status of the battery is unknown. I assume this is because my AC is plugged in. But I cannot remove it because my battery is at 3% and will shut down immediately once I remove the AC.I guess at this point I just want to know if I should buy a new battery and replace the current one.

Read other 1 answersHi,
First of all: I know that I have been having a problem with my HP Laptop Battery, and with its cooling Fan.
However, I am now wondering what detected this error below as long as it was shown even before the notification saying 'the press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' Thus, if the BIOS detected that there was a problem with the HP Battery storage', then this error should have been listed after 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' was passed.
'HP Battery Alert:
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.'
That alert lasted about 15 seconds, and then the 'press 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' is shown.
Next: This is error below showed me::
'The system didn't detect that a cooling fan is operating correctly'
I know that BIOS detected that a problem with 'Cooling Fan' since the Alert of error was shown after passing 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.'
Any comments would be highly appreciated
I have no clue what you mean by start up menu. But that message is from the BIOS.

I'm hoping someone can find an answer to my vista problems. It's on a Compaq (HP) CQ60 laptop with Home Premium.
1. My low battery alerts don't work properly. I have it set to alert me of low battery at 12% ish and then hibernate at 7%. I have only ever seen the low alert once I think so it just hibernates with no warning. I get the low battery warning triangle on the battery tray icon but no pop ups. Also there is no 'Time Remaining' just a percentage but I think this is a problem that doesn't have a solution.
2. Occasionally my start bar (which I always have set to auto hide) stops hiding. It sits on top of the status bars of my programs and is really annoying. I can't seem to see any pttern to why/when it does it. Sometimes turning off auto hide and then turning it back on will fix it but this doesn't always work.
3. After resuming from sleep MSN/Windows Live won't work. It is still running but it logs me out and won't log back in. It's effectively a dead window that looks like it's running but no buttons work. Only way to get it back is kill it in task manager & restart it.
Hope someone can come up with some ideas?
Thanks a lot

Got a PC in the office that on a daily basis, although not at every boot up, gives the following alert...
System Battery Voltage is Low. Strike F1 to continue, F2 to Run the set up utility
In the set up utiltity, Power Management option, the settings are as follows:
Suspend Mode F3
AC Power Recovery OFF
Low Power Mode DISABLED
Don't know if any of these setting are relevant, but I thought I'd include them anyway.
Can the system battery voltage issue be sorted through set up utility or is it a case of replacing a piece of hardwar e.g. system battery?

I wpould suggest opening your pc and locate the CMOS battery. i looks like a big clock battery on your motherboard. press down the battery with one of you fingers to ensure the battery is properly seated. obviously ensure that the pc is turned off before doing so. if this does not resolve you problem, i would suggest replacing the battery.

I was browsing the internet and received an in-window pop-up that looks exactly like an HP Support alert - it made a brief sound, and told me that I had program updates waiting for me on my computer). Indeed, I do have HP alerts (mostly because they want me to update my software and I've been told not to do that).
I'm pretty certain it's just HP Support (and if it Is I'm taking previous advice to silence its notifications if it is), but if it's not what precautions should I take just to make sure it's not mal or ransomware?
Hi MML If you open the HP Support Assistant program, do you indeed have updates available and/or pending?

When browsing in firefox, I suddenly got a popup in my taskbar from Windows Security Alert. Knowing that was a problem, I immediately came here and downloaded DDS and Rootrepeal. Any help would be greatly appreciated
You already stated that no matte rwhat program you try to open, you see that pop up for the scareware. You can try running Rkill first to see if you can kill some of the malware processes that are preventing you from being abel to run other security software. here are some DL links for you. LINK 1LINK 2LINK 3LINK 4Once you get it downloaded double click to launch it (With Vista you need to right click and select run as administrator). You should see a little black window open and then close. If you see that box then it worked. If you don't see the black box then delete the file and use another download link and repeat the steps.Once it runs you should be able to run MBAM and then I would run SUPERAntiSpyware as well. If all else fails try going in to safemode and install MBAM and run the scans from there to get you started.

Read other 1 answersAfter my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."
Shockingly none worked that I found.
Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.
A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.
To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Is there any option in LENOVO VANTIGE that I am no aware of ?I looked everywhere and i can't find anything.. Bios latest update 1.30 Thank you very much!
Sorry but see below post. Basically you cant set discharge order. The laptop checks battery wear and bases discharge order on that. Many people including myself have asked for a BIOS switch or at least an option on discharge order but nothing has happened so far and I dont think its going to happen either. I do not speak for Lenovo..

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.
It sounds likely the charge circuit on the mainboard is damaged. Contact Dell to have the mainboard replaced under warranty.
Read other 1 answersHi guys. I have a T470 and after the latest Windows update I encountered a battery naming issue. Before the update batteries had proper order and were named accordingly: battery 1, battery 2, no surprises here. But after the update I noticed the order has changed to battery 0, battery 1 (attached pic below) Yeah yeah, I understand arrays start at zero but what is that? I was just wondering is it just me or you guys have the same situation going on with your batteries? Is there a way to change the order back to "normal"? .

Hello I have two small icons in my bottom right bar called system and security alert. They have pop ups that come up every 10 minutes or so. When I go to delete them from add/remove it doesnt do anything. I'm hoping you can help fix this.

Apologies for the double-post. I could not see an edit function.
I've cleaned out a couple of nasties with Adaware, although i've not seen much change - still getting the same "VIRUS ALERT!" and popups. Still, I thought it best to update the log:

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.
Read other answersMy Dell laptop will charge and operate for several hours off a new 6000 MAh battery but the icon in the tray inidcates that it is always on line power. Although both the CD and floppy drive work when installed in a bay the system not indicate that they are present. I have updated the bios from Dell but that does not help. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Still under warranty, isn't it? Call Dell for a repair trip.
Hi ! I need help to determine if I just plug in the samsung evo850 drive with oxdygx cable, onto the motherboard, with the UEFI-bios ask me to initialize the evo850 dirve? If yes, after format the evo850 as GPT, will the bios manage the 512g pcie ssd as C drive (with windows 10 in it) and evo850 as D drive (data disk)?
Another question is whether hdd password can be managed by the uefi-bio just like the legacy bios?
Also whether a similiar hdd password can be used on 512 pcie ssd?
The initialization takes place under WIndows - NOT in setup. UEFI will detect the drive, but you must use the disc manager to partition and format it.
Hopefully you realize you'll need to replace that 84 W-H battery with a 56 W-H unit (the drive needs the space occupied by the extra cells in the larger battery).
Your existing C drive will be unaltered - if you have no other drives attached, the new drive should show up as D>
You should be able to set a password on both drives -- that said, they're not of much security (they can be removed and once that's done, the data is open for access). Effectively if you have a need for security, drive encryption (bitlocker if you have 10 Pro) is a much, much, much better idea.
Also be advised: the hard drive password ties the drive to the system. If for some reason the mainboard gets damaged, the data will not be accessible without the intervention of a data recovery/password removal service, so backups - of both drives -- are ESSENTIAL.
Hi there,
I'm having dell inspiron 3521 laptop. My battery is 4 cell (40WAh) and recently it was permanently failed. So, i decided to replace it with new one. The question is if i replace my 4 cell battery with 6 cell battery, will it leads to any problems? Can some one please help me to resolve this.
Thanks in advance.
As long as the battery is otherwise compatible -- and you realize it will increase the weight AND the size of the notebook (while the 4-cell likely fits entirely inside the system, the 6-cell will protrude from the back of the system), you will be fine. There's also a big reason (safety among them) why OEM batteries cost more than third-party knockoff units, if that's a consideration.
