I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Want to install Windows 7 in my Dell Inspiron all in one?

It will depend on the system model. If it has a Skylake CPU (6th generation) you'll need to produce a new Windows install media set -- none of the Microsoft media will work.
If the system has a seventh-generation Kaby Lake CPU, there's no support for anything older than Windows 10.
For sixth-generation Skylake:

A:Can I Install Two Windows Os On My Dell Inspiron laptop

Hi Hiphopfirst,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
Yes, you will be able to install two different Windows operating system on different partitions on the hard drive of your Dell computer. This is called Dual-boot. However, it is not recommended by Dell and the support would be limited if any issues arise.

Hi,
I have 2.5 years old Dell Inspiron 15r n5010 with Intel Core i3 processor (M370 @2.4 GHz) and 3gb RAM. Right now I have Windows 7 (64 bit) installed on my machine.
I have two questions:
1. Can I install Windows 8.1 (64bit) on my machine?
2. There is no driver available for Windows 8 for this series of laptop on Dell's site. In that case, can I use Video, Wireless LAN, Bluetooth drivers of Windows 7 (64 bit) for Windows 8.1 (64 bit)?

P.S.: Dell provide drivers for Windows 8 for Inspiron 15r n5110 series of laptop. Can I use n5110 series of drivers on my n5010 series of laptop?

Hello, I am new on here.
I just purchased a 120GB hard drive and a DVD/DVR rom for my Dell Inspiron 6000 so my laptop would be maxed out in every way so a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate would run smoothly. My Inspiron 6000 also has 2GB of ram and a 1.6Ghz processor. As I browse through Google with this question I get a lot of yes and no answers. Some said, no Windows 7 won't work on an Inspiron 6000 because of so and so. Then I see other people saying download a driver for a Inspiron 6400 Windows Vista and install it and this will solve the audio issue people have. This driver will allow my sound to work when I install Windows 7? What I am confused of is what do I need to do before I install Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit? If I install that driver, won't it just go away when I do a fresh install of W7U? Won't that erase everything including the drivers? I am still waiting for the DVD rom to com in the mail so I am trying to get everything ready before I make any huge changes and delete Windows XP SP3 I am currently using right now which is on the 40GB hard drive the Dell Inspiron 6000 came with. So I will be installing my new hard drive 120gb Seagate ITE with new ITE adapter in the laptopo along with the DVD/DVR rom so there will be nothing on the hard drive at all. I will have to format it. Where do I get all these drivers for Windows 7 when Dell.com only offers drivers for Windows Xp? I seen a lot people saying they had drivers for vista and they got them off Dell.com. Any ... Hey guys,

I am attempting to repair my Uncle's PC which is a Dell Inspiron 2320 All In One. It has Windows 7 Home 64 bit installed. The OEM hard drive in the machine is shot and beyond repair, so I had to go out and buy him a new hard drive. I'm attempting to do a clean install on the blank hard drive of Windows 7 Home 64 bit. However, once I get past the "Install Now" option it is telling me to Load Driver. I've tried using all of the discs that came with the machine. Such as the one for Facial Recognition Software as well as the Drivers & Utilities disc. Neither of them are working, I cannot continue with the installation until I give this thing what it wants. Does anybody know what exactly I need? I tried contacting Dell asking them which driver I need, but they were unwilling to cooperate unless I paid them $130 because the machine is out of warranty.

Any assistance would be great, my Uncle is getting impatient and I'm out of ideas how to get around this.

Thanks

A:[SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 2320 All in One Windows 7 Install

You should not need anything to Install Windows on the new HDD. are you using a OEM Windows 7 install DVD? Is the Hard drive being detected in BIOS?

Refer to the manual of the machine to enter BIOS look to see if the new HDD is detected in BIOS. If not look to see if there is an option to automatically detect the hard drive. Also check to see if it's on IDE mode if not try switching it to IDE mode.

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 531 at a garage sale. It came with a version of Vista that was cluttered up, full of viruses and in general full of problems. I don't like Vista anyway (I generally run Kubuntu or Mint for most of my computing), and I have a generic MS Windows XP sp2 install pack laying around. After installing XP, I loaded my linux OS's as usual, with no problems. The problem is with the XP install. It appears that Dell, in it's wisdom, made the Inspiron 531 specifically for Vista and the standard drivers available on Dell's site don't function well with XP (can't connect with the Web, graphics "roll-over" with the bottom showing at the top of the screen, and generally don't work well with the onboard graphics card 'Nvidia GeForce 6150'). Does anyone know a scource for drivers that will 'work-around' this issue? I know that the order the drivers are installed is important, so I wiped the drive and made a fresh install of Windows with no changes. The system setup is: Dell Inspiron 531 with AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ running at 2.0 Ghz with 4Gbs memory. I am set up for triple boot on two HDDs running Kubuntu 12.10 and Linux Mint Maya on one 260gb Hd and Windows XP Home edition Sp2 on a 40Gb Hd. I've searched this site and seen mention of a couple of users with XP running on this model, but no mention of the preferred drivers. Dell has been no help, as this is a discontinued model. Hello:
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 laptop that came pre-loaded with Windows 10.  The Anniversary update  for WIn 10 refuses to install with error code 0x80070003 and I have tried multiple things from online research all to no avail.  Tired of the thing constantly downloading the update for it to fail... Sick of Win 10 frankly as well as it truly is horrid.  My question:  is there anything preventing me from reformatting my C Drive and installing Win 7 Ultimate x64 on this laptop model?  I assume I could pick up the needed Win 7 drivers from the Dell site.  Please advise.

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 - Install Windows 7

It can be done, but because Microsoft removed the ability to boot Windows 7 USB media on Skylake platform system (which your system is), it is going to require the preparation of a new set of boot media -- you cannot simply make a Windows 7 or 7-SP1 boot medium and do the install.  It isn't a trivial exercise.  And because Windows 7 lacks support for the advanced power management of the Skylake platform, the system will run hotter and with reduced battery runtimes.
You might be better off doing a clean install of Windows 10 including the anniversary update (the ISOs are available from Microsoft) than in downgrading to Windows 7.  Also, unless you have 10 Pro, you don't have downgrade rights so you'll need to have an unused license key for Windows 7 (they're no longer legally available for sale).

Windows 8.1 With Bing is only available for computer manufacturers to be used as pre-installed OS on low end budget laptops and notebooks. It is not available to consumers as a stand alone installer.

To reinstall Windows 8.1 With Bing you need to use the recovery media to restore the computer to factory settings. Consult the manual of your computer to see how the recovery is done.

Just purchased a Dell 7359 laptop but the HD that it came with is incredibly slow.  Laptop felt like something 20 years old.  I decided to purchase an SSD for it and picked up a 480GB Eco3 Mushkin.  I want to do a clean install so I downloaded the Win10 Dell recovery media and am following the steps from here:   I created a bootable USB drive and was able to follow the steps until I selected "Recover from a drive" as per the instructions.  Regardless of whether I chose "Just remove my files" or "Fully clean the drive" the following screen shows "There was a problem recovering your PC" with "Cancel" being the only option.
I'm at a loss here... I tried redownloading the image 3 times and got the same result.  I tried it with the SSD unallocated and also with a NTFS formatted c: partition.  Is the image Y53FWA00_W10x64ROW_core(DL).iso for this laptop incorrect?  Is there a checksum I can use to check against the file I have.  How can I figure out what the "error" is that is preventing the install from continuing?

This computer came with Windows 10 installed and I have separately purchased Windows 7 directly from Dell. The Windows 7 software from Dell will not install on the Dell Inspiron 7559 complaining that at a DVD driver is missing.
I have followed a Microsoft suggestion to make a bootable USB from the DVD and install from that instead. Same problem. I still get blocked by the demand for a DVD driver.
After some investigation, I found a youtube video that suggests the problem is related to USB3. I don't know of any USB2 ports on the 7559 as they are all USB 3.0 from the specs.
How can I get this software to install?  Several calls to Dell Support has not been able to help.

I have just purchased Windows 7 Pro 32bit for my Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop and booted from the Windows 7 DVD. After a considerable time, the initial language selection screen opens but there's no mouse pointer to allow me to continue from this point. I tried re-booting from the DVD several times in case a driver had failed to load into ram, however the installation stops at that point as I cannot select anything. I tried every key on the keyboard and also tried plugging in a USB mouse to one of the USB ports and re-booting. Still not way to proceed without a mouse pointer.

I upgraded the ram to 4Gb and tested this on the previous OS (XP) and it was working fine. I have installed a new hard drive and was intending to let windows format and partition it for me, however I cannot proceed with the installation. I can only think that my Windows 7 DVD doesn't contain a mouse driver for this model, however I did check on various sites that Win 7 would install on my model and many people seem to have managed to do this. The disc and key cost ?50 so I don't want to have to buy another one. So I installed from this disc onto my desktop PC and it installed with no problems, so the DVD must be OK (for my desktop at least).

I have installed many operating systems but this is a new one on me, I don't know how else I can get this OS onto my laptop, can anybody advise me please?

Thanks in advance.
Dave.

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I was able to tab to the button named Next on that language selection screen. I was also able to change other items via the arrow keys once tab put the list in focus.

Do you see the focus change when tab is pressed? If not, then maybe the keyboard is not being recognized either.

Just bought an Inspiron 5759 from Dell Canada.
Touchpad is very squirrelly - move around and it randomly perceives a click hence starts moving or invoking stuff.  Try to click left or right button (bottom left or right of touchpad) and the cursor moves so I can click on wrong thing easily.  Looked for Touchpad settings under Control Panel Mouse.  Nothing there specific to touchpad - just generic mouse settings.  Looked in Device Manager - Mouse and Pointing Devices - see HIID compliant mouse and PS2 compatible mouse.   Driver for either is from Microsoft dated 2006.
Ok - load newest driver from dell.com.  Claims it installs ok - wrong.  The Dev Mgr shows same Microsoft drivers.  Manually force driver to Synaptics - Dell TouchPad.  Looks like it succeeds.  Now, Dev Mgr shows two mouse devices: Dell Touchpad and PS2 Compatible mouse.  Try control panel - Mouse.  Now I see a Dell Touchpad tab but the only field - Change Dell Touchpad settings - does nothing.
Spent 6 hours trying to get help from Dell Support - worst experience with any support organisation (other than HP who managed to toast a notebook via remote control while trying to install a printer driver - never did work.)  Absolutely no improvement in situation.  Four times put on hold and line drops.  Considering strongly returning the notebook.

A:Inspiron and XPS laptops running Windows 10 cannot install Dell/Synaptics Touchpad driver

With Win 10, touchpad drivers are found in the Win 10 Settings, selected in the Start Menu. In addition, many newer laptops are using a Precision touchpad, a Microsoft inspired pad. The driver is incorporated in Windows itself, and a regular driver will not work. This is why you don't see anything in the "old" Windows Control Panel app or in the Device Manager.

Simple way to solution, hopefully works on other laptops or desktops....
Go to Device Manager , Universal Serial Bus Controllers , then for each Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller, simply right click and uninstall device... You will see all other devices listed under that main tab disappear. Then using touchpad, since USB mouse will not be working, simply do a restart, not shutdown. When comes up, Windows will detect all ports and install all drivers needed, even though they may have been showing under properties as having no issues and working normally, prior to your uninstall...
I have had ports fail again, usually after a Windows update or after a shutdown, rather than restart or coming out of sleep or hibernation, but just revisit the truck above and you should have them back again....
Dell diagnostics failed to see anything amiss at all, quite disappointing.. Then found this simple solution. Hope works for all encountering similar problem..ciao

I have an old Dell Inspiron 546 I let my kids use to play simple games like LEGO Star Wars. I want to install an SSD I'm no longer using in it but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get it working. The BIOS doesn't have an AHCI option--only ATA and RAID--but in my research it looks like RAID should work. I've also downloaded the AMD Xpert(RAID) driver from Dell's website. When I launch the Windows install USB it can't find the drive to install to, so I load the driver provided on Dell's website. Windows install sees the driver, looks like it loads, but when I do a rescan for the drive it still can't be found.I thought maybe I needed to configure something in the RAID BIOS but all it looks like I can do is erase the drive. If I try to assign it to a RAID it says at least two drives are needed. So has anyone successfully installed an SSD on an Inspiron 546, and if so how? Any help would be appreciated.

First upgrade your system to Windows 10 using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool on your current hard drive:

Then use this to Clean Reinstall onto the new SSD.

Hola!

Hi,

I have been given a dell inspiron 531 with 64 bit AMD processor, running 32 bit vista home basic, that has responded well to RAM upgrade to 4GB.

I want to install 64 bit win 8 pro media centre which I have on an original MS CD. either over current vista or on separate partition as dual boot.

For some reason the dell wont read the MS win 8 64 disk (or any other original MS OS disks I have (vista-32/7-64/8-32)) but reads pretty much everything else (DVD's excepted as currently has no DVD reading software.)..either through explorer or during boot..it is not only original ms discs that are a problem as dell won't read win8-64 enterprise trial iso I burned myself either.

I have tried turning off security software (MS security essentials/MS firewall)..no change.

CD's all read fine via explorer on my lightly hopped up HP tx1340ea running win 8-64 pro media centre.

Can anyone help/advise?

kind regards

Eldred

I installed a graphics card (GTX 960) and the card gets to 80C and starts to throttle its clock speeds.
Currently, the case has got the stock exhaust fan + the PSU fan (which I had upgraded).
I would like to install an intake fan, to lower the temperature of my GPU and hard disk.
As such, I would like to ask the community here, is that possible?
If so, how do I go about doing it?
Thanks!

Morning all,
I'm trying to fix a friend's Dell Inspiron 11 3167 (I think that is the #) as it was filled to the brink with files and programs only leaving 500mb of the 30GB free. I cleared enough to try backing up the files which worked. I then tried to restore the laptop to factory specs which got to 81%, sat there for 10 minutes and then a message saying the operation could not be completed with the only option being to cancel.
I hit cancel and the machine restarts to the diagnosis program. Everything checks out only now it will not boot and keeps cycling through the Dell screen at the beginning.
My guess - OS is now corrupt since the program stopped at 81% telling me it couldn't complete. So now I'm stuck with a laptop that won't boot.
Is it possible to get Windows 10 back on this?
Thanks in advance!

A friend of mine was given a Dell Inspiron 1525 and the hard drive had died. I replaced it with a new one. It had Vista on it. I had a copy of Windows XP Pro, and installed it, along with SP-2 and 3. I did get the drivers for ethernet and wireless installed, and it actually updated to IE8. The problem is that the only cites that  IE will connect to is MSN and Bing. Anything else, I get an error that says IE cannot display the webpage. When diagnose connection is run, I get the message:

Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP. this is probably caused by the firewall settings on this computer. Check the firewall settings for the HTTP port(80), HTTPS port(443), and FTP port(21).

This is a clean install, and no other programs, ie antivirus or spyware, have been installed. IE Even Microsoft Update gets the same message. IE works with MSN and Bing, so it is not the internet connection.

Can someone please help me get this solved? My friend did not have enough money to buy a better OS,and I had XP just laying around.

A:Dell Inspiron Clean Install XP Pro, IE 8 problems

I would not be giving your friend XP especially if all they plan on doing is browse the internet and check email along with some online purchases. Depending on how much RAM is on the computer I would look at installing a linux distro.

If you select Safe Mode with Networking can you connect to other sites?

If that doesn't solve the problem reset the XP firewall. Open a command prompt and type netsh firewall reset.

Use OpenDNS servers. Flush the DNS cache after changing the servers.

Sometimes the Dell drivers are wonky. Right click the Wifi adapter in Device Manager. Select Properties and under the Details tab select Hardware Ids in the dropdown box. Copy and post the first line.

A:Can i install a gtx 970 gpu in my Dell inspiron 3020 minitower i5

Check your model name--there is no Inspiron mini tower 3020--but there is an Optiplex microtower, minitower or a small form factor 3020. See the specs for the power supply--
http://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/corporate/secure/en/Documents/OptiPlex-3020-micro-spec.PDF

It is not cost effective to upgrade the video these business computers. The psu is small and doesn't have the extra connectors for the card you mention.

As the title says how exactly do you achieve this?

I have an ISO Ran RUFUS 2.6
GPT Partition Scheme for UEFI
Fat 32
8192 Default
X Quick Format
X Create a bootable disk using
X Create Extended label and Icon Files

so the next part is the Kicker Dell did a number on their Bios and rather than using standard logic as we have done so many years just setting the boot order to "Boot USB" first, you "Only" have the option to create a "Boot Program"!!! so you select your USB Drive then which ever file you want it to boot I'm Assuming? So I tried selecting Setup, bootmgr.efi, and autorun with no results!

I get the secured boot error crap, turn that off and I get Legacy BIOS (that defeats the entire point) What the hell happened to Win95 Boot Discs and FDISK?

I am so frustrated with this garbage, I found out the hard way with Windows 10 and trying to nuke the SSD and put a clean install of 8.1 on it.

Any directions especially concerning Dell's wonderful BIOS would be appreciated!

Thanks

If you can install Windows 7 but not Vista it seems to point to your install disk.

If you can install Windows 7 why bother with Vista.

When I run installer for AMD video driver (8730) , my screen goes black for some time (idk if it's normal), then it requires restart. After I restart a black screen appears and it takes a lot of time for windows to load the page where a user types his password to log in. After i type my password and desktop screen appears i have these problems :
1) a strange box of pixels appears on the screen and doesn't move ( something like the picture shows)
2) right click on desktop opens a menu that contains half of lines it has to
3) cannot open Catalyst Control Center
4) when clicking on Configure Switchable graphics it opens Intel HD graphics settings
here are some picture of what i'v got now:
I uninstalled AMD Catalyst Install Manager from Control Panel, then AMD Radeon HD 8730M from Device Manager, and tried to reinstall, but everything is like it was before.
What can I do about this ?
I do also have Dell Audio driver problems, and I posted about it too:
Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron 3521 - Cannot install AMD switchable drivers

Has the AMD driver worked in the past, or is this the first time you're trying to install it?
If it has not been known to work in the past, open your device manager in the control panel.  Are there two display adapters showing?

I found an old Dell Inspiron 530a in my house, it was stored because it didn’t work anymore, so I got in the job of restoring it. I found out the problem was the PSU, so I replaced it and it worked fine for about a week but 2 days ago, the computer froze for almost 2 hours, so I turned off the CPU. After that, the computer does not want to boot, I press the power button on the front of the PC, and it remains in an orange light, and in the inside, there is also another orange light in the Motherboard. The fans start very loudly and don’t stop until I unplug the CPU or I turn it off from the power button. I have tried these “solutions” for what I think is the problem:

Removing the Motherboard battery
Removing the RAM
Disconnecting the 24-pin from the motherboard
Disconnecting everything from the PSU
Switching the jumpers near the batteries

I don’t know what the problem might be, but I am almost sure that the PSU is not, since I bought it with a higher capacity than the original PSU and I have done the tests with a jumper in the 24-pin connector
The new PSU is a  “Coolmax V-500 Series 500W 120mm ATX Power Supply” and everything else are original Inspiron 530a parts.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me

We just recently purchased a new computer but am struggling to get our printer installed.  My printer works on my desktop ( I work from home so yes I have a desktop).  The printer also works with our other laptop via USB. Something happened sometime back that disrupted our Wi-Fi connection so I just never got it back up and running.   Anyway, we have this brand new laptop. I have been on the Support website and downloaded the drivers. save the files to the computer , unzipped them and executed the setup. The printer shows on my computer but it still says the drivers are missing.  It doesn't work hooking it up to the USB port etc....

I am ready to send my new computer back...so frustrated.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please list exact Dell model. Ex: Dell Inspiron 5000 5567, windows 10. If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto the [Cortana] search box, and then look for System Model.
In the meantime, type Device Manager on to search box, and then check and see if there's any Printer listed. If yes, expand printer, right click on it, and then update it. Please click on links for additional information.
