Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro suddenly stopped connecting to external monitor

Q: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro suddenly stopped connecting to external monitor

After an automatic windows update my computer (running Windows 8.1 64-bit) suddenly lost connection to my external monitor. I tried connecting to the tv with another cable and it didn't work either.I uninstalled the latest update and it didn't work. I tried doing a system restore to a few days earlier and it didn't work. Then I updated the BIOS and it suddenly started connecting again. The problem is the next day it stopped connecting to the monitor again. This time I couldn't update the BIOS because I already had the latest version. And even if I could I shouldn't be having to do that. What can I do?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I unplugged the cable to move my ultrabook, plugged it back in and now the connection with the external monitor is completely dead and won't come back, any chance its something other than the USB C port being broken? It worked fine for 48 hours.

My Yoga 11e will suddenly not connect to any monitors (including the one it's been connected to for a year). The display settings consistently show "Didn't detect another display".YES I HAVE ALREADY GONE THOUGH ALL THE SIMILAR POSTS ON THE FORUM. * Yes, I have already tested the monitors and cables to verify they work.* Yes, I have already tested it with different monitors.* Yes, I have updated all my drivers.* Yes, I have used the Lenovo update software.* Yes, I have already removed the graphics driver and reinstalled it.* Yes, I have already done Windows troubleshooting - including reinstalling Windows. Based on the Lenovo website, there seems to be no way to actually speak to any sort of tech support, so I'm stuck resorting to this. Is there anything else I can try BESIDES THE ABOVE that might work, or should I just chuck this computer in the garbage?

I own a Yoga Pro 3 with Windows 8.1 installed and I would like to use it with a external monitor.  I bought a cable with a HDMI mini port on one end and a standard HDMI port on the other.  When I connected the HDMI mini to my Yoga Pro 3 and connected the other end to my monitor, it did not see my desktop on the external monitor.  Does anyone know how I can use a external monitor with my Yoga Pro 3?

I just bought myself a very nice 22inch Dell E2209WF monitor. I connected it with a VGA cable to my USB3 connector and nothing. So I went down to PC World and tried the same with several monitors and nothing. So I tried a micro HDMI to several monitors and still nothing. I'm running Windows 10. Am I missing something very basic ? I've always assumed the Yoga 2 11 could be connected to an external monitor.

A:Connecting a Yoga 2 11 to an external monitor

Hi, welcome.
It shouldn't be hard to connect an external monitor to a laptop. What kind of port does it has? mini DP? HDMI?
What I had see on other cases is that some cables and adapters may produce some problems. So trying different ones that you may have arround, or connecting the laptop to a near by TV just to be sure it is not also the monitor.
My only ideas are:
1) Try Win+P key combination to be sure that you ar extending or duplicating the screen with the secondary monitor.
2) From the Yoga 2 11 support site, try update the video driver and see if something improves.
Give it a try to see if something works.

Hey thereI received an external monitor which I want to connect to my Yoga 2 Pro. The monitor (besides USB) has a VGA-plug an a displayport-plug. My Yoga Pro has micro hdmi-plug. Can anyone tell me what's the best way to connect these two devices? I was told to buy a cable with one end as a displayport (male)  and the other end as a micro-hdmi (male). However, I can't find such a cable on the internet? Has anyone a good recommendation? Thanks, Pascal

The title says it all. I'm very frustrated with this problem since I really need to connect my laptop to an external monitor for work. I've read and tried all relative topics in this and intel forums (e. g: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-920-can-t-connect-to-any-external-mon...), have done all steps mentioned (including firmware, bios and windows update, windows reset, ...) but the problem still persists. Apparently, most users that had faced the same problem been able to get it worked after installing "Type C Firmware for Windows 10 (64-bit)" or the BIOS update provided by Lenovo. I installed them successfully but nothing changed. I am sure it is a software issue since there is no sign of any hardware one (all devices are fine as device manager shows and diagnostics app found no problem). It was just working fine until suddenly stopped working (probably after some recent windows update). I would greatly appreciate any help.

I just purchased the Yoga 900s a couple of weeks ago and need to connect to an external monitor as the screen is too small for daily use.  But I have no idea where to begin.  What kind of cable do I need?  Do I have to use a docking station?  If so, which one is compatible?  Very confused and would appreciate your help.  Thank you!

A:Connecting Yoga 900s to an external monitor?

There is an adapter made for the machine that connects the usb-type-c with video port to HDMI
Then an HDMI cable can connect to a TV or monitor.

Please helpI am trying to connect my new Yoga 900 to an external Full HD monitor Samsung syncmaster b2430hd using the following adapter which I connected to the USB type c of the Yoga and to the HDMI port of the monitor: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00X4S5C7G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 However, the picture on the external monitor look fuzzy and the taskbar is hardly visible.I?ve tried reducing the resolution to the native for the external monitor i.e., 1920 x 1080 but still did not help. Are there any adjustments to the display settings that I can make to improve the picture on the monitor?

A:Connecting Yoga 900 to an external monitor issues.

Welcome to the forums!
I have a suspicion it has to do with the video scaling setting on the SyncMaster. If you go to Picture > Advanced Settings > Picture Settings, look for Size. Change it to Screen Fit. There may also be a button on your remote to change the Video Mode / Aspect Ratio or something similar.

I currently have a Lenovo Yoga 910 (no 4k version) and I've been having problems connecting to an external monitor for some time now. The monitor works well with other devices so I'm positive it's a problem with the laptop/adapters. My external monitor is the following: Acer LCD. It does not have an HDMI port, but it has a DVI port. As far as I know, all of my drivers are up to date. I have two methods for connecting: 1. CableCreation USB-C male to HDMI female + BlueRigger HDMI male to DVI male 2. Choetech USB-C male to DVI male I used option (1) for a while with success, until suddenly it only provided low resolutions for the monitor. Now, when I try option (1), it won't even extend the display. I'll select "Extend these displays" and apply, only for it to go back to "Show only on 1". So this has somehow gone from working perfectly to not at all. I thought the CableCreation adapter might be faulty, but then: I recieved the cord for option (2) today, and the outcome is exactly the same. "Extend these displays" automatically reverts back to "Show only on 1". Thanks for any and all help!

I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 to replace an older Lenovo Thinkpad. I use two laptops with the same peripherals, so I run an external monitor (Dell Ultrasharp 29" monitor), a keyboard, and a mouse into a Display Link Docking Station. I then use a IOGear switch to toggle between the two laptops. The new Lenovo Yoga laptop picks up the keyboard and mouse, but does not identify the external monitor. Below are details on the new laptop.

? 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6500U Processor (2.50GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
? Windows 10 Home 64
? Intel® HD Graphics 520 (graphics card)
My other laptop is an HP ProBook running Windows 7 Professional. All of the peripherals work fine using the docking station and switch (as did the old Lenovo Thinkpad). The only exception is that in my previous configuration, the monitor would periodically not connect with the new laptop when I used the switch, and I would need to restart in order for the monitor to work with the latpop I had selected on the switch. The mouse and keyboard did not have this problem.

Thanks for your suggestions.

My Toshiba laptop has been connected wirelessly to my Comcast router without issue until earlier today when I noticed that most websites timed out and couldn't be accessed. I can go to Facebook, Google, and YouTube, but can't access my Hotmail account or other sites I use on a regular basis. I've tried everything I could find on the Internet, including flushing my DNS settings, changing them, scanning for malware, uninstalling McAfee, etc. and the only thing that has gotten me back on track is connecting directly to the Internet with an Ethernet cable, which is what I'm using now.

The only thing I can think of that's different is that I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple days ago. Otherwise, nothing has changed. Can someone please help me diagnose this annoying problem?

Hi guys. Here's my problem. Everything worked fine for almost two years until 12 days ago when my router D-Link DI-704UP suddenly disconnected the internet and couldn't connect anymore. I use a PPPoE connection, but all the info is fine, I already tried to reset the router and configure it again but it didn't work.

However, if I connect the modem (USR9001) directly on my PC and not on the router I can connect without any problem through Windows XP. But when I connect the modem back to the router it simply doesn't connect, it keeps trying and can't get IP, DNS and all the other stuff.

I then thought it could be a hardware problem with the router and sent it to tech support for testing and it worked fine there. When I brought it back here and installed everything, the same problem. I'm not sure what to do anymore, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a D-Link WDA-1320 Wireless PCI card.
My router is a Linksys WRT54G.

For several months, I had no connection problems. Everything worked great out of the box. A few weeks ago, it suddenly stopped connecting with no helpful error messages, and nothing in the event viewer pointing to an error.

After about 2 days, it suddenly started working again. It worked for another 2 weeks. For the last 4 days or so, I haven't been able to connect again. The only error message is the wonderfully helpful "Windows was unable to connect to linksys".

I can connect to my neighbors netgear router just fine.
There is currently no authentication required on the router.

Things I have tried:
3 sets of drivers: 2 from MS, and a vista 64 bit driver from d-link.
resetting the router
3 different broadcast channels
changing the SSID
uninstalling the wireless card and reinstalling manually.
uninstalling the wireless card, restarting, and letting windows find it.
physically moving the wireless card to a new PCI slot.
completely uninstalling my antivirus program
disabling all windows firewall options. disabling ipv6 in two different ways
trying to connect to a "linksys" ad hoc network (somehow that worked for someone)

and from the command line:
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh interface ip delete arpcache
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh winsock reset catalog

edit: I should also note that I've attemped with and without DHCP enabled, and with and without a static IP.

Hi, I really need help, and Virgin Media are useless.

I have a 20MB internet connection with Virgin media
I have a Linksys WRT54GS Router
I have a desktop PC running windows XP connected via ethernet to the router
I have a Toshiba laptop running windows 7 ultimate connected via wireless to the router.

Up until about almost a week ago, Everything was working fine, when I was browsing clips on youtube till about 5 in the morning. (I work nights) I went down stairs for breakfast at about 7, and went on the PC, which had no internet. Thinking it was one of virgin media's frequent blips, I just unplugged the router and modem like always. I plugged them back in, and nothing. I rang up their helpline which had an automated message, "If you are in the following postcodes; (list of post codes, mine was one) then you may be experiencing problems, and these will be fixed as soon as possible." Fair enough.

Two days later, no net, rang them up, no message, got through to the help line. Long story short, my PC is now connected to the internet from an ethernet cable directly to the modem, and they're blaming the router, something they did before which turned out to be false as it turned out both their modem and set top box where faulty.

When I put the modem back into the router, all the lights are on and flashing, including the "internet" light on the router, yet not internet conection comes out of it. I find it hard to believe that my r... Read more

thats all looking good

have you tried a powercycle

How to power cycle

“power cycle” process to reboot or reset the modem/router

Switch off all the devices modem, router, computers and TV also unplug their power cables.
Wait at least 1 to 5 minutes. We have found in some instances you need to wait at least 15 minutes
Plug the power cords back in, but don’t switch them on.
First turn on the modem and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Next switch on the router (if a separate device) and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Now turn on your computer, You should now be able to access the Internet.

Yesterday evening, the USB-C ports of my Lenovo Yoga 920 stopped working suddenly. While working with the computer, the connected external monitor and the laptop screen both went dark and I couldn't revive them by disconnecting/reconnecting any cables or by pressing any keys on the laptop. In the end, I had to force a hard restart of the Yoga 920 by pressing the power button on the right. After rebooting the laptop, I noticed that it completely failed to communicate with any devices connected to the USB-C port, including my external monitor, keyboard, mouse and Ethernet network. First suspecting an issue with the connected USB-C hub (Kensington USB-C Universal Dock 60W (SD4600P)), I performed a full power recycle, including detaching/attaching cables, of all involved components. This had no result. I noticed then in the Windows 10 Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), that the USB device "UCSI USB Connector Manager" was marked as not working (yellow exclamation mark). The status of the device was:This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE Disabling/removing/reinstalling this device in Windows 10 had no effect on the issue. Then I noticed that the laptop didn't charge while connected to the power supply from Lenovo, which was delivered with the laptop. There are two USB-C ports on the left side of the laptop. The one towards the back is marked as the one to use for charging. It didn't work any more. I had to connect the USB-C cable from th... A:Lenovo Y50-70 USB 3.0 ports stopped working suddenly

hi haemming,
Welcome to the Forums.
Can you try the following:
1. Boot into the BIOS by continuously tapping F2 on boot-up. Once in the BIOS, hit F9 to load factory default settings then hit F10 to save and exit (this reloads the hardware configuration of the machine). Once inside Windows, uninstall the USB 3,0 driver (Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers) then scan for hardware changes.
When the USB device comes back, try to test your phone or any USB device (e.g., USB mouse, flashdrive, etc.) and observe.
2. If same problem, try to power down the machine > press the OneKey Recovery button > select System Recovery and test if the mouse will work on the USB 3.0 port
 - Sample image
Alternatively, you can also hold the Shift key then restart Windows and observe if the USB mouse will work on the Windows 8 Advanced Options.
If none of the above method works then I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk and report your findings as the USB 3.0 port is definitely malfunctioning and requires service.

I have been searching in several forums but have not been able to fully fix this problem. It was fixed temporarily and failed again.
This the system I have:

HP TouchSmart tx2 tablet pc with Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (Home Premium) x 64 bit
AMD Turion (tm) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-82, 2.2 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

I have been working for over a year with an external display Dell ST2310 flat screen monitor and working fine with the "use external display only" setting . From one minute to the other both screen went black so I forced a restart and again the same problem. I decided to manually disconnect the external display by unplugging the VGA cable from the laptop which automatically switched back to the main display as it would if I disconnected the display. When I plugged the VGA cable back in again the same issue both screens were fully black. I disconnected once again the VGA cable so I could change the settings in Windows Mobility. I plugged back in the VGA cable after changing the settings from "external display only" to "mirror monitors" and after playing for a bit with the Windows Mobility Center I got the external display to work back again to my regular settings: "external display only". This solution lasted for a day and now the main display works and the external display screen is fully black.

Solutions I have tried unsuccessfully:
- Changed VGA cables, still experiencing the same issue.
- Tested monitor ... Read more

Hey everyone, I've officially got THE worst luck with technology EVER.

Today, my Western Digital 500GB External HDD has stopped working. One minute it's working fine - the next its completely unresponsive. I deleted a music folder off the hard drive that wouldnt play and I dont know if that's been the cause of it to become unstable.

When I plug it in via USB I can feel the disk spinning inside and loading, but the windows sound does not play. About 2-3 minutes later I get the sound but it does not appear under Hard Disk Drives on My Computer. When I try to go into device manager it crashes windows explorer.

After a couple of attempts the name is now "Local Disk I:' and not even 'Elements'

After about 10-15 minutes of being plugged in the drive clicks and won't do anything else.

I REALLY need some of the work off the hard drive - It's so important to my second year at university.

Any help you can give me I will be eternally grateful. Call me a *******, but I usually back up my work via dropbox anyway but theres some bits I didnt back up yet and it's so important I get them.

I've looked at getting a universal drive adaptor but i've heard about data recovery software but there seem to be so many out there - If my hard drive isnt completely screwed could someone reccomend me one or give me some advice?

Thanks in advance.

Alright, new to the boards and apparently a much bigger newb then I thought, because this one stumps me.

The problem is that suddenly my monitor stopped getting a signal from my rig. I didn't download any new software, I didn't buy any new hardware- just all of the sudden I'm surfing the web and my moniter turns off like I've hit the sleep button.

And it has yet to turn back on. I've tried rebooting, powering down completely then rebooting, opening the BIOS (which doesn't work because the screen doesn't even show me that), removing and re-inserting the video card, and plugging in the monitor cable into my laptop to see what happens (works fine).

As for details about my rig. It's an HP Pavilion running an AMD 64 dual core and a nVidia 9800 GT. It's an LCD moniter, VGA- though I'm using a DVI to VGA converter to get from the card to the monitor. Don't think it's a compatibility issue thought because, as I've said, I've run this set-up for a long time now with nothing wrong.

Hi, all, I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop and recently bought a Asus MB169B external USB monitor.  When I plug the monitor in, the laptop monitor (not the external monitor) flickers about every half second.  If I unplug it, it stops.  I upgraded my video driver to no avail.
Is it simply a power supply issue (the external monitor  does not have a power cord)?  Anything I can do?  It does it even if I have the laptop plugged in and charging.
*something interesting - I just discovered if I duplicate the display and not extend the flickering goes away...but that kind of defeats the point of a dual monitor for me.

A:dell xps 15 monitor flickering after connecting external usb monitor

What is the exact system model?
Have you connected the external monitor to a dock or hub or directly to the system USB port?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and download the BIOS, update and restart the machine and check.
Reinstall the video drivers and chipset drivers for the system from the above link and check.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.

I had the Lenovo logo show up for a fraction of a second like twice, but that was about it. I tried opening it up and taking out/putting back in the battery, and that didn't work. Nor did letting it sit and charge for a few hours as was recommended on another website.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Correct me if I'm in the wrong board.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y40-70 Laptop

That model laptop appears to come with Windows 8.1 64-bit.
Is that correct?

Did you buy it brand new a month or so ago, or is it a second-hand purchase from elsewhere?

So what happened was one day, my touchscreen suddenly stopped working and then when I go check device manager, my touchscreen setting or program dissapeared! So I don't know if anything changed my computers because I have auto updates on for both windows 10 and Lenovo. And nw, even know I have options to change into tablet mode but it became pretty much useless without the touchscreen.

I was using my computer like normal, when suddenly my bluetooth mouse stopped working. I try clicking on the bluetooth icon on the taskbar the bluetooth icon just dissapeared. When going to settings there is only the "bluetooth & other devices menu" and i try activating my devices through there - but it says bluetooth is turned off, and there doesn't seem to be a button to activate it again.I look through pretty much every settings menu but find nothing.I try googling some fixes (going through, Windows services, device manager etc.) but none of them work and even try to do a system restore of a week back, the bluetooth icon in the taskbar appeared again, although my devices still weren't working and simply hovering over it made it dissapear, again. I later tried downloading & installing the driver from here and it shows "Status: Installation not needed (No device for update present)  I'm not sure what the hell is going on i'd like some help. My computer is barely 5 months old.

A:Lenovo yoga 710-14ikb Bluetooth suddenly dissapeared!

Hi, welcome to the forum.
What is the "Windows Device Manager" saying about the bluetooth device ?

Can you check if the bluetooth complete disapear from the list, or if it shows some yellow warning sign when the issue appear.
Please check which bluetooth model do you have installed, on the support site for your model there are two bluetooth drivers:
1) Bluetooth Driver (Liteon, Qualcomm) for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 710-14IKB, Yoga 710-15IKB
2) Intel Bluetooth Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 710-14IKB, Yoga 710-15IKB

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20FY). The problem I've been having is when the battery reaches about 25%-30%, it suddenly drops to 6% and I'm alerted to charge the battery. Any idea what this is happening and how I can fix this?

Hi all, I have a Yoga 260 and two external monitors.  It does not seem to matter how I connect them, USB, HDMI, whatever the thing with a square on one end and USB on the other, directly or through a splicer I can not get the Yoga to recognize the third screen individually (yoga has one monitor, plus 2 external monitors = 3). I go to display settings but it just will not recognize the third monitor at all unless I use HDMI out of the laptop in to a splicer then 2 HDMIs out and in that case I only get duplicates on the two external screens. Any suggestions about the best way to set up... as in "it worked for me when I connected USB to one monitor, then daisy chained that to a second one" or "it worked for me when I HDMI to one screen and USB to a second" etc... Thank you

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (type 80AY, BY05331786) laptop. A week ago I bought the Lenovo Active Pen (Not the Active Pen 2).  I have trouble connecting the pen with my laptop. It does not connect to it nor does it even notice it. I activated the bluetooth on the laptop, tried updating the drivers... you name it. Even bought 2 different batteries, just to test if the pen even works. I tried installing some software that I found on the Windows store, but it is for the ActivePen2. Unfortunately i did not found any possible way to even know if the pen works or not. Any ideas?

Hello there, I'm experiencing a problem where I have connected my yog920 with a Intel UHD card to a 4K monitor that supports up to 3840x2160 resolution but currently, it only allows a maximum output of 1920x1080. Hence I can't reach the maximum resolution of my new 32" monitor. I was wonderinghow to get the 920 to display to your 4K monitor at the maximum resolution. If you do, please kindly share your experience! My current setup is using a usb c to HDMI convertor and then connecting a HDMI cable from the adaptor to the 4K monitor. I currently own a LG 32" 32UD59-B and I have the 4k version of the yoga 920. Many thanks in advance for any help offered as this is quite fustrating!
