Q: Thinkpad Yoga - Touchscreen not working anymore

I have my Yoga for 5 days and the touchscreen stopped working mid-use! Tried everything I could, I also have reinstalled the factory image. Touchpad and pen are working correctly but not the touchscreen. The HID Touch device is in the hardware manager. It's a 20C0. I've open a service request yesterday, I'm still waiting. Does anyone else had this problem with a brand new Yoga?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

I?m sorry to hear that touchscreen of your ThinkPad Yoga stopped responding.

Open Device Manager in control panel. Look for the option Human Interface Device. Under Human Interface Device, look for HID-compliant device. Right click on this option and choose Disable and then re-enable the same.

If the above said didn?t help, it could possibly be a hardware issue. I?m sure the Lenovo technical support can be of great assistance.

I'm running windows 10, and suddenly my touchscreen stopped working. I checked in the device manager and the "HID compliant touch screen" was disconected. After trying to reinstall software, it was uninstalled and now the option does not even show up anymore. I reinstalled all lenovo drivers and im getting nothing. Windows has no idea its even there. Full disk format and a fresh copy of windows 10, and still nothing. This laptop has been through lenovo support again and again, the last time it went was kinda the last straw for me. :/ It's out of warranty now, but while it was in repair, other things on the computer were also damaged. Hence why it went back twice. But now suddenly the touch screen has stopped and I can't get a single response. Im hoping this is a driver malfunction somehow, but the touchscreen will not even show up in the device manager, not even under hidden devices. Any help?

A friend of mine brought his Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11E touch - by today because after he did a "clean install of windows 10 Pro. his touchscreen is no longer working...I've just spent the last 2 hrs. installing the "lenovo" drivers and software packages...But can't seem to located the HID touchscreen drivers or any documentation to support the touchscreen on the "Lenovo" site...I've also tried all the "lenovo" whiz bang apps the fix this issue...Does anyone have this model: Intel Celeron N2930 (2.16 GHz),8GB RAM,128GB Solid State Drive,11.6in 1366x768 Touchscreen LCD,Intel 802.11agn wireless,4c Li-Ion,Win8.1 Pro 64 - (Lenovo's description of this PC) that has been able to get the touchscreen working post windows 10 install? Or a link to the correct drivers for the touchscreen? Or could Lenovo support maybe point to these packages so I can get this thing working as marketed...

I recently decided to use my Wacom Graphics tablet with my Yoga 260. After all the necessary drivers were installed for the Graphics tablet. The touchscreen on the laptop seems to have disappeared, where it had worked perfectly beforehand. I went through the Device Manager and settings and the computer says that there is no longer any touch screen support. I am using Windows 10 and was really hoping that I could use both the computer and the Graphics tablet together. Can somebody please help or give me a way of enabling my touchscreen?Thanks in advance!

I have TP Yoga 14 that has a Wacom touch screen and I have a Wacom Bamboo at home. I will try tonight to see if when I connect the Wacom external tablet it disconects my touch screen.

I installed the most recent windows 10 x64 synaptic driver this morning here on the lenovo site.  The new driver installed fine, but then after I went to reboot my system, the touchscreen was not working. I tried installing the march 1st Touchscreen patch from the same page, and it didnt fix it.   Under the device manager I have located the Touchscreen, it is showing up under Human Interface Devices, as an unrecognized USB input device.  In the properties window, listed under Events, it lists the "Device onfigured (null)".  After trying to install synaptics again later on, I get "Device not migrated", then "Device configured (input.inf)", and finally "Device not startd (HidUsb)". I don't have a wacom stylus, just the standard one that came with the device.Any help resolving this would be much appreciated.

Hi Everyone! I just go my hands on a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 touchscreen laptop with an included digitizer.I am experiencing a weird thing with the touchsreen. (It is the full HD version with the digitizer and 10 point touch capabilities)Basically the bottom part (like 5cm from the bottom) of the touchscreen is not responsive until I touch the middle or upper part of the screen. After touching the screen somewhere else the bottom part becomes responsive again.Have you ever experienced such problem?I am currently on Windows 10 Pro and I completely updated all my drivers and also reinstalled everything including Windows but the problem still occurs.Any help would be highly appreciated!

Hey everyone, I picked up my Yoga today, and I love it. However, about an hour ago the touchscreen went completely unresponsive. The last thing I remeber doing, before noticing the touchscreen becoming unresponsive, was installing the Android SDK. (Well, I ran the installer, but it didn't recognize JDK). So, here I am, with the touchscreen not functional at all. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried the "refresh" and that didn't work. I'm probably going to try the wipe/clean install option in a bit. I guess that would tell me for certain if it's a hardware problem or not. I'm really hoping this isn't a design flaw with the 360 hinge causing issues. I really like the laptop, and would rather not have to deal with hardware issues like this down the road. :/ I'll be calling support in the morning, but was hoping to get this resolved tonight if anyone has had a similar problem.  Thanks!

Try a Windows system restore and restore it to a point before you tried installing Android SDK.

i am using Lenovo Yoga 3 and after i downloaded Microsoft Office 2013 it stopped working. I tried going through the control panel and the human interface, tried enable and disable but it still didnt work. Also tried the Mouse and Touchpad setting but still nothing happened.Even if i use it as a tablet or at tent mode the touchscreen wouldnt work. I am very frustrated here. If anyone could help me with this issue i would highly appreciate it. Thanks

Main issue im having is the keyboard is acting very bizzare. First keypress does not register when I start typing or after pressing the spacebar. shift keys and backspace are intermittent. for example, on this sentence i had to press the "f" key twice as well as press every letter twice after each press of the spacebar. Reinstalled drivers, system restore, malware scans all to no avail. i'd guess it's a hardware issue.now the touchscreen:does not work 99% of the time but randomly appears to. When it's not working windows tells me no touch is available for this display. Seems like a poor connection to me as well as I can't seem to find touch screen drivers. anyone have experience with this?

Here is how the problem appeared:1. I received a new 20FQCTO1WW. First-time booted fine, touch and pen were working at this time.2. Repartitioned the drive and installed Windows (10 pro, the retail version)3. Installed wifi driver from Lenovo support page (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-...)4. Installed Lenovo System Update and used that to get all the drivers, etc. At this point device manager shows nothing missing, I see all touch screen, pen, Wacom device and all the things but touchpad and pen input doesn't register anything.  I suspect firmware/driver issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Just as a side note, touchscreen as well as brightness adjustment doesn't work out of the box on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, if anybody has ran into this and found solutions.

Hello, i have an Yoga 11 rt, which has a Problem. The Touchscreen has no Function when the Device is in Tablet Mode.  Touchscreen turns off at 180 Degrees, also Keyboard and Touchpad (which is normal i guess). I also remembered there was an Lenovo App which controls that. Bud i dont have that App anymore.Ive also Reinstalled (repair via Windows update/recovery Menü). But the App does not show up. Any Ideas?

I hae just reinstalled Windows on my Pentium Yoga 300-1IBY. Touchscreen worked before that, but none of Lenovo Yoga features did not. Functions like tablet mode with keyboard locking etc..I have tried both Windows 10 Home and Pro, I don't get HID touchscreen in Device manager. After install some updates (I forgot what, and delete some intel driver? because some thread used too much CPU and it became hot), the digitizer pen not working after the computer wake up from sleep or hibernation. Hello, After a clean installation of Windows 10 (and update to 10.1), my Fn key is not working even with the hotkey features integration up to date (8.80.14).Right now, the Fn key is locked through the bios and all keys functions F1-F12 (volume, brightness...) work,as they should (I can increase or decrease volume, brightness...).But the keys which need the Fn key despite of the bios lock (actual F1-F12, Esc for FnLk and Space for keyboard backlit) do not work. The problem is with the Fn key. Does anyone have a similar issue? Thank you in advance and let me know if you need further information!

Yoga 15 with latest level of windows 10. The Writeit app tries to start at boot up, gets "Error in Writeit" and disappears.has anyone found a resolution to this little bug.  It used to work a few months ago. I did try to reinstall it but comes up with same message.  Now that I have a stylus, I would like to use the features of Writeit. can't tell what error it is either.any help is much appreciated.

So I got my Thinkpad p40 a few days ago and so far it's been great, with just one problem. The small stylus, the one that's housed in the body of the laptop doesn't work. I'm not sure if the pen itself is defective, or if the charging port is. The separate full-sized pen, the Thinkpad Pen Pro (4X80H34887) functions just fine. I've left the laptop plugged in overnight multiple nights but to no avail, and there doesn't seem to be any 'pen charging driver' in the driver list, just indicators. I've tried various programs, including Lenovo's low battery indicator and the laptop stylus simply doesn't work at all. The Pen Pro works in all the same situations. Does anyone have suggestions? I have the Thinkpad S1 Yoga with Windows 8.1 64-bit and have constantly been installing all updates. Currently my Fn key is not working. It doesn't matter whether I set the Fn and function keys to default as the F1-F12 buttons or the special functions, I cannot use the Fn key to toggle to the other option. I also can't use the Fn key in combination with the space bar to turn on the backlit keyboard. When I press the Esc + Fn button, nothing happens so the FnLk also doesn't work. My laptop is out of warranty too. Is there a known update that causes this problem? I installed the Hotkeys Features Integration for Windows 8.1 but it didn't help resolve the problem. Really hoping someone here could help me. Thanks in advance,.

Welcome to the forums. Can you please specify the full model number of you Thinkpad?
 
Before saying it is somekind of hardware problem. Can you check if by any chance do you have the Fn - Ctrl switch enabled? Maybe to togled the Fn and Ctrl buttons, there are some Thinkpad models that allows you to do that. .. just in case check if Ctrl+Spacebar turns on your keyboard.
 
You can check on the computer BIOS if you have that function to toogle Fn - Ctrl keys.  Also check on the BIOS (not in Windows) if you can turn the keyboard backlike with Fn+Space or Ctrl+Space.
 
It is just some trial error, but maybe it can work out.

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back.The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer.But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

You can change the volume in software, but neither the volume +- on the keyboard, nor the volume rocker on the side of the machine will change the volume. That is, UNLESS you open the task manager, and then click on the services tab. As long as the focus is on the services tab, then the volume on the keyboard and the rocker will both work. If you click on another window, or if you click on a tab other than the services tab, both sets of buttons stop working. Also, both sets of buttons work fine in Linux.

I've recently bought a ThinkPad Yoga 14 (with Broadwell CPU) and have been trying to get a 16GB RAM module working in it without success. I bought the 16GB SO-DIMM module from I'M Intelligent Memory http://www.intelligentmemory.com/. The advise thier memory is compatible with all 5th Gen (Broadwell) Core i-series Intel processors. I see Lenovo has recently started selling their own 16GB module Part No. 4X70J32868 http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100204. Here only ThinkPad T450s and X250 are supported. Users on these forums have also reported the Intelligent Memory modules also work in these machines. Is there a reason for only x250, t450s supporting 16GB RAM modules? Why would other Broadwell laptops like the ThinkPad Yoga 14 not be supported? Is there something special about the CPU or BIOS on these machines? Or is this a marketing decision to restrict 16GB support only to high-end laptops?

Hello everyone,  I would like to connect 3 external monitors to Yoga 260. I found out that conection of 3 external displays is feasible. It is associated with turning off the native LCD, whcich is OK for me. I would like to use ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (40A40090XX). The docking station has 2 DP and 1 VGA. The issue is I'd rather use 2 DP from docking station and one DP which is on board Yoga instead of VGA. Is such configuration possible? I would like to figure it out before I will buy the station. I've found document: https://support.lenovo.com/uu/en/documents/pd029622 , but there is nothing on using docking stations' DP and native DP in one configuration, simultaneously. Whether it is because on board DP will be disabled? The alternative is MST (eg. http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/multi-stream-transport-mst-hub.html). Both devices are at a comparable price, and if I had confidence that the docking station will work with onboard DP simultaneously, I would choose it.  Thank you in advance, best regardsM

Since no one has replied, I would like close this discussion.  Still someone might benefit for the information, that: - I have purchased and tested ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock- it works with 3 external monitors using 2 DP from docking station and one mini-DP from Yoga itself- working configuration is as follows: 2 displays are connected to OneLink+ Dock with one active DP to DVI converter, one passive DP to DVI converter and the last one (Yogas? port) with active mini-DP to DVI converter- I didn?t try to use for example 2 or 3 passive DP to DVI converters (but I guess that 2 should do the job, but 3 will probably won?t work)- when OneLink+ Dock is attached, the HDMI port in Yoga is not working! (the information one can also find in BIOS, but no materials on-line) Best regards,Maciej

My mini HDMI output has stopped working. No video no sound on the external screen. I've updated everything- Windows, Intel Graphics drivers, all the critical updates on the Lenovo companion app but still no luck. The computer doesn't even seem to recognise that the output is connected (the little sound that plays when the cable is plugged in doesn't play). I have tested the cable and monitor on another lenovo device and all works fine.  Frustratingly the output seems to work when connected via the Thinkpad Dock.  Also of note: the advanced display settings no longer takes me to the desktop verison of the application. Even if I go through the control panel, but takes me to the basic windows 10 interface, Anybody have any ideas- I really need to be able to project from my computer

I experienced a bizarre problem today and although I've resolved it now I thought I'd post it here just in case someone else experiences the same issue. The issue was in regards to WiFi not working properly on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1. After a restart my computer's internet (with WiFi on) would work for a few minutes then it would stop. Long story short, I tried various things, and even uninstalled Norton and other software which I thought may have been a culprit but still the same issue. I also used a USB to Ethernet port (since there is no built in Ethernet port in the ThinkPad Yoga) and connected my computer with a cable and disabled the WiFi to see if it was the wireless hardware not working. Unfortunately still the same issue. Finally I noticed in the Windows Task Manager a process called "Discover.exe". It turned out this was using some noticeable amount of CPU and wondered what this was doing as I hadn't seen that before. I found out that this was a piece of software bundled in with my computer called Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. I'm not sure why it was running but I ended this process. Viola, suddenly my internet was working again! A:WiFi on ThinkPad Yoga stops working after a few minutes [Solved]

I had tha same issue and noticed 'discovery.exe' was hosing my internet. Killed the process and then uninstalled and everything seems back to normal. Apparently LenovoEMC was iOmega...so this is no surprise that is sucks. Thanks for the help!

Hi all,I'm not sure if I posted in the correct forum and I'm new to this so bear with me.  So I bought this laptop around 5 months ago and only about 1 month ago the left side of the touch screen is not working. It would register that something is touching the bottom left side because I have my visual feedback turned on and after a half a minute of that, you can see it go haywire and register nearly the entire 1/3 left side. After 30 seconds of it going haywire, it would stop. And then either the entire left side or just the bottom left side would completely not register any touches at all. This wouldn't happen all the time, just every other day and definitely enough to be extremely annoying.  I bought my laptop in to get fixed for a completely unrelated problem because it's still under warranty and I told them about this issue but it doesn't seem like they fixed it and I'm thinking it's because it just didn't happen to happen to them when they had it. Also, I'm not sure if it's a software issue (since I don't think that's covered by warranty) or hardware. I have Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit OS, pen and touch support with 10 points.  Is there anyway that you guys can help me on this? It would be much appreciated.

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

I've had my ideapad (flex 15 20309) for about 2 years and was working fine. Around 5 months ago I noticed my touchscreen wouldn't work any more. Sometimes after a reboot it would seem to come back to life but now I can't figure out what is going on. I seem to have Microsoft Windows 10 home as the operating system. I can't find any setting or keystroke or anything that can get my touchscreen back to life. Help! My touchpad (mousepad) works fine and I'm using a USB mouse as well because I don't like using the mousepad. The only thing I think has changed in the last 5 or 6 months was probably windows 10 and the regular updates that are done via windows 10.

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

Hi so I bought a Lenovo Yoga 700 only a day ago but I'm experiencing some weird thing with the touch screen. I have looked it up and can't seem to find a solution. I don't have ghost touches it more like if your on the desktop and you drag your finger across the screen as if you were making a section box as you drag it register's clicks across the screen instead of dragging if that makes sense. If I scroll through the programs list instead of scrolling it will think I have just clicked an icon. Is there any solutions for this or is it a bring it back the store job ? Thanks in advance
