IBM Think[ad R52 - Ethernet drivers not working

Q: IBM Think[ad R52 - Ethernet drivers not working

I have an old Thinkpad R52 here, and I just reloaded Windows XP Professional on it. OEM disc. I've downloaded the drivers from IBM's official page at:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58931Using my other computer I downloaded various drivers onto a USB drive and copied them to the laptop's desktop, then installed them. Strangely, none of them seem to do anything, though. The install process for each works fine and reports no errors, but after restarting, the audio and Ethernet controllers are still unknown in the device manager.ThanksEDIT: I figured it out. The installers didn't work for some reason, but I was able to manually select the drivers from the folders that the installers extracted to.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have been trying to get my ethernet drivers to work for a while now with no success. I have installed and updated them but I still recieve the exclamation mark down below them. I have a ethernet cord that previously worked but it seems something has changed internally and now I cannot connect to the internet via ethernet. After uninstalling the ethernet drivers and trying to reinstall it said installation failed, Device driver software was not successfully installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, thanks in advance for your help. I have searched and tried many things but none have solved my issue yet.

Here's the deal. When vista boots my usb and ethernet drivers don't work. I have to plug in a ps2 keyboard and mouse to log in. I can then go to device manager and check the drivers. They all say that the device cannot start. I can then disable the items and re-enable them and they work fine. This occurs at each and every reboot.

I have tried new drivers and flashed my bios. I have tried editing a value in my registry that another forum suggested (changed and "inf" to "system32" at the end of a value, I can look it up if needed). I then uninstalled a months worth of Windows updates and still no dice. Something is not allowing my motherboard drivers to work upon boot up.

Mobo: Asus P5Q PRO TURBO
CPU: Intel Q9400 Quad
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Let me know what else you might need to know if anything to help me out. Thanks

Hello all.

I have a problem with my ethernet port on my workstation.

The computer crashed so i reformatted it with a fresh install of WinXp Pro.

Here are the system specs:

Symantec Endpoint Protection
Windows Firewall
Service Pack 3
Network User - Logged on as Administrator on Network Domain
Internet comes from modem to 16 port switch to workstation. all other stations work fine (even with SP3)
2.4 Core 2 Duo
2 gb ram
Asus P5945GC mobo

Before, the internet was working before I reformatted it. Now I cant connect to internet, network or anything else. The network cable is unplugged icon is on at the bottom right corner of the screen. I have tried numerous versions of the ethernet driver, and nothing helps. I have tried setting up a manual connection for broadband connection and nothing works.

i am assuming it is a software problem, because nothing physically happened to the ethernet plug or port. I even tried plugging in a different ethernet cable into the pc and still nothing.

I am thinking it might have somthing to do with SP3 or some kind of setting not allowing it to be used. I checked Device Manager, it is working properly and enabled.

Im stumpted, if anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

I know this looks like it was previously solved, but it seems intel does not publish the driver i need anymore.

I just reinstalled my operating system on my dell 4550 dimension. I am getting "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" for my ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, pci input device and usb device.

I have seen the other posts in closed threads about the intel site and the fact that the dell drivers don't work for the ethernet controller. The problem is this linke
does not take me anywhere good.

I also cannot work out where to find any of the other drivers.

I have run PC Wizard. It tells me my network card is 82801/DB/DBL (ICH/ICH4-L) PRO/100 VE network connection. I am running Windows XP Home v 5.1 SP1.

I wasted an hour calling Dell. The dude made me run a scan to see if my hard drive was working. It is. Then he gave me a phone number where another dude tried to charge me to get the right drivers. Thanks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My laptop is from Toshiba, model L650 PSK1JA OK3017. Here's Toshiba's driver page for my device:

Support :: Toshiba :: Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and more

I recently purchased a blank hard drive along with a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I've installed all drivers listed on the page for a 64 bit system but when I try to install the "Intel Wireless LAN Driver (For Intel Model Only)" driver or Proset driver, the driver extraction begins, ends, but when the setup is meant to run, nothing happens. I've redownloaded it and attempted to install it twice to no avail.

Basically, I cannot connect to the internet and Windows cannot detect my network adapter.

If anyone can help me figure out what I need to install to get my network adapters to install, that'd be great. I can't call Toshiba support because their operating hours are when I'm at school.

Occasionally, when I try running the driver I mentioned before and the extraction is complete, when I select "No" as to whether I want to run the file, Windows gives me the error: "Archive Extractor -- Error occured in system module [-135]".

I still have my old, working hard drive, which I replaced because it was slow. Is it possible to grab the network drivers from that and transfer it to my new hard drive? I can use this hard drive to help you guys help me.

i went into the device manager and under my ethernet driver this is what it says:

A:Need Ethernet drivers, audio and video drivers

easiest thing is to google any numbers you can find on your motherboard, this will identify the make and model and will (well should unless its an obscure cheap make) provide a link to the drivers on the makers website.

Once you find the drivers remember to back them up to a dvd or a CD and label them up.

I have a Gigabyte MOBO which has an integrated Intel ethernet card. I use Windows XP OS. I used the Intel card to connect to my DSL modem and I added a LincSys ethernet card to connect to a small LAN through a hub. Recently I booted up and got a cable dissconect message on my Intel connection. I've checked the cable and the modem and they are all fine. I had to add another Ethernet card to get my DSL connection working but I'm trying to figure out why my Intel card has a problem. In device manager it says that the card is working correctly. The computer tech-guy wants me to remove the pci cards, go into safe mode and remove all their drivers and then reinstall with just the integrated card. The problem is that I cannot remove the previously installed devices. When I try I get a message saying that xp has failed to remove the device, they maybe required to restart windows. The other odd thing is that in safe mode there are drivers for an ethernet card that used to be installed but is no longer. Does anyone know how to remove all these devices and the drivers in safe mode, so that I can get a clean install. I dread having to do a complete install of xp.

Wow, I shouldn't have done it...

Anyway, I recently reinstalled XP on my main drive, doing a full delete partition, remake jazz. Anyway, I completely forgot to back up my drivers. As of now, the main problem is that I cannot connect to the internet through my cable modem. The cable modem seems to be working, its just that I do not have the ethernet drivers or something. That's where you come in. I am an idiot. I do not know what to download or where. I will give you any information needed, although the only way I can connect to the internet as of now is through 56k, so I wish to minimize downloads. Once I have my cable modem back up, I can slowly fix all the other missing drivers.

As I said before, I am an idiot. The only information I can get you right now is that it is not a card, it is integrated(I'm pretty sure). The other is that the only thing printed on my motherboard is MSI AGP 8x. If more information is needed, just ask, I will be more than happy to give. Just please no huge downloads if possible.

Thanks in advance

I hooked up my computer via and ethernet cable to our router, with two 25 foot ethernet cables and a coupler in between them. So does my computer just not know hot to use it's in-built ethernet port?

Hi Gammio,

I recommend going to the manufacturer or your system's website (be it HP, Toshiba, Gateway, ASUS, eMachines, etc) and downlanding your Etherent (LAN) drivers from there.

The drivers needed to operate the network interface on your system may be misconfigured. I recommend reinstalling those drivers using the information I posted above.

Good Luck.

An old XP Home has become unstable - it either refuses to connect to the internet over a high-speed modem, or it connects for a second or two, displays the homepage, and immediately gives the error box 'Internet Explore has encountered a problem and needs to close... yadda yadda yadda'.

I tried doing a system restore to last month (when it apparently did work - it's my son's PC), but the same problem occurred again. There is nothing wrong with the modem (the cable guy was here and checked it), and if Internet Explore is corrupt (the only browser he has) I have no method for correcting it.

So I thought I would back up all the documents, pictures and music onto a flash drive, and re-install Windows. Or at least attempt a repair...

Anyway, the point is that I'm unsure if this reinstall will wipe out his ethernet drivers, and if it does I won't be able to connect to the internet to download them. Should I be copying the Windows/System32/Drivers folder to a flash drive before re-installing?

A:XP Reinstall / Ethernet Drivers

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

That wont do any good to copy the windows system32 folder.

Ok lets try a repair install,

To do a repair install:

To enter bios: F1, F2, delete, escape, upon starting up of the pc

Set the bios order first:
cd/drive rom
other devices (varies)

Press enter to boot from cd
choose install xp windows
Ignore the first repair option and continue with installing xp
When windows finds the previous installation
Choose R for repair

Note: a repair install leaves all your files intact, only replaces your system files.

First, the EPoX page here ( http://www.epox.com.tw/eng/products_content.php?ps=346 ) shows that your board is not compatible with Vista, nor do they offer Vista downloads for it.You can try downloading the Vista drivers for the components individually. From the drivers available on this page ( http://www.epox.com.tw/eng/support.php?ps=346&type=2 ) I'd assume that you'd need:1) The nVidia nForce 4 chipset drivers for Vista from nVidia.com2) An AMD Athlon? 64 Cool'n'Quiet Driver for Vista from amd.com3) A Realtek AC65 audio driver for Vista from realtek.com4) The nVidia nForce 4 RAID drivers for Vista from nVidia.com5) The nVidia nTune driver for Vista from nVidia.com6) Some other Vista device drivers depending upon the setup of your mobo.

Hello there,

On previous occasions we had no problems, but at that time he was using Windows Vista and has since switched back to XP Professional. He uses a Wireless USB connection at home so didn't notice a problem until now.

My question is this: How do identify exactly which Ethernet drivers he needs and where can I download them?

Heya all, new here and sorry if i place this post in wrong category.

Well i have a Notbook. LG it says W1-D2RLV as model number.

Well why i post here is becuse i can't find any Ethernet controller Drivers. I had Win XP before and I had no problem with internet then. So my question is where and how can I find drives?

I have a Wireless notebook but the sad thing is I don't have a Wireless connection.

A:Help with Ethernet Controller Drivers.

Welcome to the forums Mewphisto
Can you show us what the Network adapters tab in SIW is showing?
Also, W1-D2RLV doesn't seem to be the model of your computer, what does the case say?

Please forgive my ignorance but I just came off nightwork and my brains not working so good. A colleague is having a real run of bad luck and I am trying to help her. Her laptop has got the ZLOB virus and I am trying to get rid of it but I cannot connect to the internet because the drivers for the ethernet card are missing. There is no id on the laptop apart from the COA for XP and Z600 on a sticker underneath it. How can I find out what make it is so I can find the drivers. I don't mind paying for the drivers or a virus remover as long as they work. Any help greatly appreciated.

I have a HP Pavilion g6t-1d00 Laptop (Product # - A1J17AV; Serial # 5CG217015R) with Windows 7. The OS crashed so I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 (64-Bit) on my computer. The HP support site doesnt have any drivers for the wired Ethernet Network adater. Device Manager has the Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, and SM Bus Controller listed under Other Devices and it says there are no drivers installed for these devices. Also, all the other drivers on the HP support site are for Windows 8, nothing for windows 7. I tried installing the broadcom and intel wireless drivers (i dont know which one i have) but they didnt work either. Could you please point me to where i can get the right drivers? Thanks.Neel

Can someone point me to a link to get the correct drivers for an Asus A8N-VM motherboard pls? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate X64 on it but need the right drivers to enable ethernet , vga , sound etc, all I have been able to trace so far are 32-bit drivers for XP - even though they are sourced as 64-bit.
