X1 Carbon SSD Current Firmware 3887904, New Firmware is "None", "No new firmware found." is normal?

Q: X1 Carbon SSD Current Firmware 3887904, New Firmware is "None", "No new firmware found." is normal?

In README, new firmware version is "W887904". But my SSD current firmware is "3887904"."W887904" and "3887904" are not same. But is it correct that "No new firmware found."? Or Levono utility program can't find firmware file? "No new firmware found." is too hard to understand. I think better, "No need to update firmware...".... Levono utility program can't find firmware file? "Solid State Drive Firmware Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad FWSD48 19 Oct 2018" is not easy to use.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I was updating my drivers for my new Lenovo Yoga 920 laptop and I tried to use this driver: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/no/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/YOGA-SERIES/YOGA-920-13IKB-GLASS/do... However, the update keeps failing and the Type C ports do not work now. I can't charge my laptop. Luckely I am at 75%, so I have about 3-4 hours to fix this before I'm forced to take it to service. I tried this solution: https://www.gfisk.com/lenovo-yoga-pd-firmware-update-failure-ccg4-two-port-usb-c-controller/but it doesn't work for me. I'm getting desperate I'm supposed to press the power button for 8 seconds and the powering should be back on, but for me the lap top goes off after 3 seconds of holding the power button. I keep pressing the button of course to see what happens. But, when I turn back on, the battery still won't charge. And the firmware update keeps failing. I tried everything according to instructions, but with no avail. Please help! My laptop is off now, so I will wait for solutions here before I turn it back on.

When I attempt to do so, the firware does not recognize the device although the device shows up in My Computer as a Zen Xtra. I have reloaded the drivers. When I attempt to reinstall the firmware, it states that it cannot detect the device and please connect it now. How do I resolve this lack of recognition?

Stopping update there is a similar post here where it was suggested to run msconfig with Diagnostic Startup, reboot, anf then try to run the PD Firmware Update utility.  I tried that but got exactly the same error message. Any ideas would be very welcome! thanks.

Hi!

Consulting http://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/support/solid-state-drives/000017245.html the Firmware of your Version is current, since there is an older Version 4PC10362 listed as the most current version.

However, this doesn't answer your question completely, since hp might provide even more current firmware-versions.

On my system the firmware version is the same as yours, 4PC10365, the only difference being: I already DID install the firmware upgrade!

There is another problem with the firmware upgrade 1.20 from the hp-downloads-site:

Installing this upgrade is working fine until necessary reboot: Reboot fails every time, producing an error 0x0000098 "application missing or corrupt", when the file loadvf.bin from the upgrade-directory should be booted.

I am worried that the firmware-upgrade might not be complete.

Intel-Tools all state that the firmware is fine and current, perhaps because they check for the older Intel-Version.

My Install of Windows X64 Pro is an EFI-Install. Might that cause the problem?

Regards,
TeckieMackie

Hi, I was having issues with my USB3.0 ports yesterday so ran the driver update tool, once I chose to reboot my laptop for the SSD upgrade, the laptop no longer boots up and occasionaly tells me there is a 2103 Detection error with the SSD. I believe, the the PC did not properly install the SSD FW update so would like to reflash it with the same firmware, or backwards roll it.  I can boot into windows from a memory stick and run the firmware update tool and although it can see the SSD - it is displaying the current firmware and thus not allowing me to update. Is there a way that I can bypass this check of the firmware to push the update out again? Thanks

Lately (last few days? week+ a bit?) every time I log in, or unlock after resuming from hibernation, I see - twice - a message saying something to the effect that "the current thunderbolt firmware version is" (and a number).Q#1 I never saw message about Thunderbold until recently; why is this appearing now? And,Q#2 Why does this appear (at all, and, twice) every time I login/ unlock after resuming from hibernation? This isn't the kind of status information that the user expects to see unless there is something wrong, some action needs to be taken. But Lenovo Update doesn't find anything (neither that built in to Lenovo Companion nor that on the Lenovo support website), and there appears to be no error/ update-needed condition.thank you,

Hello!

So I am having a problem with an SSD in a T420 laptop. Short and sweet, here is what is going on.

Specs:
- Lenovo T420 with 160GB SSD. SSD model is: SSDSA2BW160G3L.
- The type is: 4177-CTO.

Problem:
- The laptop will not boot from the SSD no matter what I try, which has been a lot.
- When checking the SSD with the Intel firmware update utility, the serial number reads: BAD_CTX 000001. Image attached.
- According to the Intel firmware update utility, the firmware on the machine is CURRENT. Version 4PC1LE04.
- I read that the Intel firmware update utility can have issues with detecting and accurately reporting on Lenovo drives, so I downloaded the latest firmware update utility straight from Lenovo. It also reports the current firmware of 4PC1LE04 on the drive and will not let me update it.
- I tried to boot the machine using BartPE to investigate the partition a bit, but this results in BSOD.
- I booted the machine using GParted and it boots fine and detects the SSD. Sadly, it reports the partition as being 8 megabytes in size.
- This is exactly similar to the firmware bug that existed previously for these drives, found in firmware 4PC10362. The difference is that I am on CURRENT firmware and have experienced the issue. That is not good.
- The T420 was shipped directly from Lenovo a couple months ago and was shipped with the latest firmware already installed. So, the firmware has never been changed or upgraded on these machines - meaning the bug mus... Read more

A:T420 SSD 8MB Error on *Current* 4PC1LE04 Firmware. Help / Advice / Report Bug.

I can't help but call Lenovo since they're likely the only people who may or should have the answer. Unless its an outright failure of the SSD. I have a friend who had a 1 year old OCZ Vertex 2 drive which would not boot. Crashed each time. Took a look at it an put in my HP dual SATA supported notebook. I could see it but do very little. Access on the bus stopped after a few seconds and hung the entire notebook. Really problematic. It appears to have been a SSD controller or other internal SSD component failure. On a bad/going bad HD I can almost always get in and get data off. But when an SSD says NO by golly its full stop you're SOL. I had considered on as prices are coming down but don't need the quick start that much. Solid state should be reliable but clearly the technology may be not for prime time on mission critical system. Get image backups while you can it that did not hit you yet.

Hello all, So it looks like this "issue" has been resolved. The 7th Gen X1's need to have the ECP upgraded to at least 1.05, as the documentation states. This however doesn't make sense to me. How could Lenovo ship, from the factory, a 7th Gen X1 Carbon with Firmware version 1.13 and ECP version 1.02? According to the table below this should not even be possible. In the "resolved" threads I see the comments (and I'm paraphrasing) say "This is not actually an issue - the devices need version x.xx of the ECP to run the Firmware Updater with the silent parameter".  We are in a bind trying to deploy Windows 10 to thousands of end users and the only available device right now for us is the 7th Gen X1. We have had to put our order on hold to work through these issues. Our rep was unaware that this was an issue. An escalated phone call brought in two other resources; a manager of an engineering team, and some type of manager of enterprise solutions of Windows 10 deployments. None of these employees have any idea (as of this week) that this is an issue or was an issue. So Lenovo is shipping out devices with Firmware versions that do not match the ECP version as stated in the table below? How is this even possible? And there is no automated solutions? Does this mean my technicians will manually need to update the firmware to get the ECP to 1.05+ on THOUSANDS of devices? This has a massive cost associated with it. The aforemationed "...manager of enterprise solution... Read more

A:Unable to Update Firmware Silently - 7th Gen X1 Carbon

I have the same issue as well.   You need to update the ECP to 1.05 first and then you can silently update using the 1.20 UEFI.   Unfortunatly there is no silent ECP update to 1.05 available at the moment.  My understanding is that the silent update has been disabled because suspending a machine after the silent update on some versions will result in the machine being bricked.

I'm setting up a new X1 Carbon with machine type 20FB. It came with a Samsung MZNTY256HDHP SSD. I noted there was a recent SSD firmware update package for this laptop model, so I downloaded and ran the updater. It reported there were no updates. However, after digging a bit deeper, I discovered that the SSD firmware updater for the X1 Carbon 20A7/20A8/etc. DOES have an update for the SSD in this machine. What is going on here? Does this firmware update somehow only apply when the SSD is installed in a 20A7? Or did this particular model of SSD just get missed when Lenovo was putting together the firmware update package for the 20FB?

A:Upgrade NVMe SSD firmware to FWNV15 (X1 Carbon 5th Gen) on Linux

The upgrade utility sometimes fails before it reboots windows with a message like "can't initializie linux system". So I investigated further and found that the updater in fact is an ELF binary  $ file fwupdater_i686_Win10_LPMoff
fwupdater_i686_Win10_LPMoff: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.2, for GNU/Linux 3.8.13, not stripped Which also seems to be pretty easy to use: $ ./fwupdater_i686_Win10_LPMoff
PROGRESS --- start firmware update.
Usage ./fwupdater_i686_Win10_LPMoff <Model> <Serial> <Firmware> [Option]
Model : Drive Model Name.(Mandatory)
Serial : Drive Serial Number.(Mandatory)
Firmware : Firmware Image file path.(Mandatory)
Option : Additional Option string starts with `-'.(Optional)
PROGRESS --- completed with status(8). And the necessary info which firmware to use is in a file called fwwinsd.pro: $ cat fwwinsd.pro
"THNSF5512GPUK TO","5KLA5102","5KLA5104","TINYCORE","fwupdater_i686_Win10_LPMoff","5KLA5104_NVME.sig","L","TOSHIBA"

Hi guys, I recently got hold of my new X1 carbon and decided to do a thorough firmware update with vantage. When the trackpoint utility firmware 1.0.0.3 was installed, my laptop flashed with an installation failure notice and rebooted. After that, the trackpoint as well as the mouse above the touchpad no longer worked. I tried the advanced setting in control panel, but the entire trackpoint configuration option was blacked out. Does anybody experience similar issues with this update and have any suggestions on how to do a home fix for this? I have been making do with the touchpad and a bluetooth mouse, but it does not feel very "thinkpad" this way.....

Hi!X1 Carbon 6th Gen, connected to two seperate (home/work) 40AH docks running different 4k monitors @ 60hz via DP has recently started to blank / lose sync to the connected external monitors after the recent firmware upgrade available via Lenovo Companion and matched here: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/options/n20pf03w.exe Prior to this firmware upgrade, both docks and their respective monitors were functioning entirely normally. The firmware has been pinpointed as the ugprade occured at work first (which started exhibiting the fault) whilst home was OK, then when the firmware was applied to home the fault began to occur. There seems to be no reason as to why the screen blanking occurs, the monitors exhibit symptoms of a cable being disconnected for a short period and then reconnected. I can only assume there is an issue with the firmware on the DP component on the docks. The OS does not seem to record any connected hardware change in logs (as if the dock was disconnected via power/data) rather it seems only the output of the dock to the monitors is faulting. All other system upgrades have been applied via Lenovo Companion and/or via the website drivers list. The fault seems to be exhibited during fast video / screen switching within the OS (Windows 10). Although most frequently during large excel documents (lots of horiztonal and vertical scrolling) Seeking assistance and/or the ability to downgrade the DP firmware on the docks to return... The linux version of the latest BIOS/ECP firmware (1.44/1.18) for the X1 Carbon 4th gen (type 20FB and 20FC) and X1 Yoga 1st gen (types 20FQ, 20FR) was released Aug 2 (n1ful37w.zip) https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Direct link: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1ful37w.zip That .zip file contains two .cab files, N1FET70W.cab and N1FHT35W.cab, for the BIOS and ECP respectively. Updating the BIOS in linux for my X1 Carbon 20FB worked fine for me with fwupdmgr, but failed for the ECP. This was because the metadata for the ECP update has a typo. Inside the N1FHT35W.cab file is a firmware.metainfo.xml, with a GUID of: 4c2e5b5c-6467-43af-afeb7bc72d96b9c3 This is incorrect. It's missing a dash, and should read: 4c2e5b5c-6467-43af-afeb-7bc72d96b9c3 Modifying this file within the .cab (or extracting it and generating a new .cab) and then flashing that with fwupdmgr fixed the problem. I've attached the modified .cab file (nested in a .zip file for upload). You can check yourself that the only thing that's changed is the GUID line in the .xml file. This typo should be fixed in the source by Lenovo and reuploaded as perhaps a rev 2 for n1ful37w.zip . Hopefully this hasn't happened for any other firmware update files.

Hi there,  I would really appreciate help in relation to this ongoing error. I am prompted by Vantage on regular basis to update the SSD firmware from 6L7Q to 7L7Q. Using Lenovo Storage firmware update tool 1.103. Fails every time, has been like this for months so I am not expecting an auto update fix.  Tries to do it, gets to reboot, and then the error below appears.  "software condition is not ready to update due to some condition" I have also downloaded from Lenovo website manually, and have run the zipped version, with same result. I have looked up Samsung SSD drivers directly and there is no options for this drive. Has anyone had similar issue? Please let me know if you have a fix.  Many thanks.

Hello, I have Carbon X1 5th (20HR) running Windows 10 pro (updated).  Altought I followed the instructions here - https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cy/en/downloads/ds120390 (This is the page for Lenovo users who wish to update TPM firmware) - and installed the "BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10" version 1.33, Windows still keeps telling me to update the TPM firmware driver.  In BIOS it shows that I have TPM ver 2.0, enabled. Since Windows kept telling me to update the TPM driver, thanks to Google I found out that there is a tool created by Lenovo called "TPM Firmware Update Utility -ThinkPad" (It is worth noting that this tool is not mentioned on the instruction page). I downloaded the tool, but can't understnad how to use it (assuming that I should use it at all, because this tool is not mentioned on the TPM instructions page). Could you please help me to solve the TPM issue described above? Is there a way to check what version do I have? Thanks in advance!

I saw the phrase firmware tossed about on a message. What exactly is it?

A:Firmware?

Firmware is half software, half hardware. Usually it is software embedded permanently into a piece of hardware. Such as the software that runs a digital camera, or drives a USB networking cable.

I am fresh out of college, and seem to have found a job where I am in way over my head. My employer knows it though, and just expects me to try my best.... anyway heres the question, even though it seems dumb...
When using C, does a hexadecimal Number refer to the memory address (AKA a register or part of the the memory or a port), or does it simply refer to the number itself?

Eg:
ulData = ulMemPos + 0x20;
does this mean add the hexadecimal value of 20-- or to add twenty memory addressing to it?

A:firmware

just a number

I have recently had trouble with Genie-Soft backup software. They tell me I need to back up my firmware. I am not sure what they mean by this and their explanation hasnít helped me.

I have Nero 5.5.10.9 installed on my computer and my CD-RW Burner is Imation. I used the Nero Info tool which showed [1.0] G:\CD-RW CDR 6S52 in the top left of the box and Type: CD-RW Recorder and Firmware Version: CDR 6S52.

I went on to the Nero site which states they will not accept responsibility for any firmware updates.

I havenít a clue what Iím supposed to do now. Itís taken me ages to get this far and in all honesty, I donít really know what I am doing. Is the firmware update supposed to be for Nero or Imation. Can anyone help me?

My OS is WinXP Pro

hi!

Can anyone tell me what is firmware?

A:what is a firmware?

Firmware - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
In electronic systems and computing, firmware is a term often used to denote the fixed, usually rather small, programs and/or data structures that internally control various electronic devices. Typical examples of devices containing firmware range from end-user products such as remote controls or calculators, through computer parts and devices like hard disks, keyboards, TFT screens or memory cards, all the way to scientific instrumentation and industrial robotics. Also more complex consumer devices, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, synthesizers, etc., contain firmware to enable the device's basic operation as well as implementing higher-level functions.

Better than I can explain it.

Dvd disk drive won't run DVD's. Makes alot of clicking, spinning noises but wont read disks. Went to HKEY areas and changed some things recom by other forums. Didn't work. Told needed firmware upgrade. Unable to find firmware for Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA Device because as near as I can find it's an OEM Device. Went back to Gateway(Notebook Manufacturer) and they don't have. Any suggestions? Ifu can't fix, I guess u install a new DVD Device or a new Notebook.
Was also told by Gateway I needed a Codec upgrade.

A:OEM DVD Firmware

The codec pack is easy enough- Techspot has what you need here http://www.techspot.com/downloads/775-klite-codec-pack-full.html
Install and then try running the discs.

How does the drive show up in the Device Manager ? No exclamation mark in a yellow triangle?
What DVD's won't it run-commercial (retail) movies, or discs you are attempting to burn ? If the latter, what brand of discs.

If it definitely requires a firmware update then it seem's you're out of luck as there are none as far as I can tell.

I have a Intel 510 ssd and I looking to add another ssd. Can you have both if they have different firmware. I'm looking at several including Intel 320.
Will this confuse the motherboard bios or Windows 7?

A:2 SSD's 2 Different firmware?

I don't think it will give any problems just because of firmwares. After all, it's entirely internal to each device. As long as each one has the proper drivers and the motherboard recognizes each one, they should work.

Hello all,

I am looking for Firmware for DI-614+ wireless router. When I use WEP encryption, no wireless client (laptop) can connect. I have also tried the latest firmware I can get from D-Link. I hoping to use this with my TFCko box or as my access point for my laptop.

If I cannot use it as wireless access point. Is there a firmware hack to make it a wireless client or a repeater?

Thanks for any ideas

Is there any way of uninstalling this upgrade?

Your advice greatly appreciated.

A:Uninstalling firmware?

Hi,

Not sure but have you tried uninstalling your Burner Software and going to My Computer > Control Panel > System > Device Manager and removing your actual Burner from the list ?

When you reboot it should be detected as new Hardware with default drivers - then reinstall your Burner Program.

How do I revert to a previous version of the Plextor firmware for the PX-W 12/10/32A CD-RW drive? I installed version 1.07, not knowing that it causes complications with CloneCD. I'd like to return to version 1.04, but when I try I get "Error sending firmware (4: 40: F5)"
I dualboot Win2000 and WinMe, and have tried it in both Oses (just to be sure Win2K wasn't blocking access) to no avail. PLEASE HELP!!
