Since 3 days ago i got bsod all the time i wanted to scan with a new antivirus

Q: Since 3 days ago i got bsod all the time i wanted to scan with a new antivirus

Thank you all for your time, I got bsod every time I tried to install a new AV and do a prescan. After a while I searched and many places in the net told that the Gygabite App Center sometimes create this, so I uninstalled it, andthe BSOD stopped when using AV, but my pc got very slow. I atm followed a thead here for malware removal, and detected 3 instances of Win32/Bundled.Toolbar.Google.D with Eset Scan online, I am waiting for an answer for eliminating them in the other thread, but want to check if the hardware have something to do with the bsod. So any help there? Thanks for your help, this site is REALLY a godsend for me

Preferred Solution: Since 3 days ago i got bsod all the time i wanted to scan with a new antivirus

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you can, post any minidumps created by the BSOD's by going to C:\windows\minidump and select all the .dmp files. Right-click sending all the files to a compressed(zipped)folder. Upload this folder as a file here.

I obviously have a problem with my computer. My Norton Antivirus runs every Friday, well for the past month, on Fridays, the scan would just run forever, until I have to stop it manually because I work on my computer. So a couple of days ago, I updated my Norton Antivirus to 2005, thinking that was the problem.
I installed the 2005 and still get many problems. I have a lot of errors just running the one button check. And still when it scans, I let it go for hours and hours and nothing gets completed.
I don't even know where to go with this or where to start. Any suggestions?

I'm running windows 98, and I'm not sure what else I need to let you know.
Thanks,Melissa

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a) bug check.

This indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.

This bug check is issued if paged memory (or invalid memory) is accessed when the IRQL is too high. The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

As you can see, I have several issues with my desktop (I am using my laptop to post this). My desktop OS is Windows XP Pro. A couple of weeks ago, my "darling" husband opened an e-mail from someone he didn't know, which was blank except for a link, and clicked the link at which point all heck broke loose on our computer. He said all kinds of web pages started flashing up on our computer and he kept getting an XP Security Center pop-up that was running scans. After investigation, we realized this was a virus. After fighting to get on-line, we ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. That took a while as the download kept getting blocked. We even had to run the RKILL program. After finally running MAM, it seemed like we were ok, but then I started receiving a Just-In-Time Debugging message popping up on my computer, Google result links are getting redirected (I can copy and paste the website into the address bar and get to the page), and on start-up, I often get a blue screen telling me the computer has to run a synchronization of my external hardrive (which I bought and started using a year or so ago after I blew the motherboard on my old computer trying to install additional memory).

I have tried to remove whatever is still on the computer but can not seem to get rid of whatever it is. Since then we have been using my laptop.

In preparing to post this e-mail, I started up my desktop, and got a message from AVG that AVE.exe is trying to open an outbound connection (which... Read more

alright so im new on here but i need some good help. about a week ago my laptop started running really slow upon start up and then just the entire time it is on. it would take a few minutes to open up any program (my documents, firefox, or even the start menu itself). i figured id run an antivirus scan, i use avast since its what ive always used and never had problems with. well about 20 minutes into the scan it blue screened and restarted the computer. i was a bit confused so i tried again and obtained the same result. i know my family has had problems with their computer having viruses so i put on malwarebytes since it worked for them, ran it in safe mode the first time and then in normal mode. both runs ended in the bsod. getting frustrated with it i looked online for a solution to my specific problem and ive came across a number of them, i updated all of my drivers, i ran ccleaner, i cant run defrag because it keeps telling me i have to remove special settings before i can and it never lets me remove them. i came across a forum post where a user had roughly the same problem as me and i tried the solutions listed to him ( http://answers.yahoo...23092135AAGLFnb ) the first solution didnt work, the scan didnt even run. then i used a registry cleaner and it blue screened in the middle of it, i did the disk clean up. i dont have a system restore date to restore to or i would. i have not checked the ram for defects and i have tried the virus scan several times. so any advice th... A:BSOD when antivirus scan is run

Firstly, your link hasn't posted correctly; could you please make sure that we have the entire address. It sounds as though the advice on that thread may not have been very good at all, but it's important that we know what has been done to your machine.
Most people on this forum and others advise against the use of registry cleaners. They do nothing to improve the speed of your computer, and are prone to delete critical registry information which Windows and your other software needs to run correctly. While CCleaner is a very good temporary file cleaner, the registry cleaner built in is just as dangerous as any other.

Now, let's see what's on your computer that might be causing these issues.
Please go here to download HijackThis.

To the right of the green arrow under HijackThis downloads click on the Executable button and download the HijackThis.exe file to your desktop.
Double-click the HijackThis.exe file on your desktop to launch the program. If you get a security warning asking if you want to run this software because the publisher couldn't be verified click on Run to allow it.
Click on the Scan button. The scan will not take long and when it's finished the resulting log will open automatically in Notepad.
Save the log file to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your post.
Please do not fix anything with HijackThis unless you are instructed to do so. Most of what appears in the log will be harmless and/or necessary.

Greetings,

My McAfee Real-Time Scan will not remain enabled. When I try to run either Quick Scan or Full Scan, an error message comes up, telling me to return to the McAfee Internet Security Home and to try to run the scan again.

I have followed their instructions for re-enabling the Real-Time Scan to the best of my abilities, by trying to restart the McShield Service, and by running the oas-disabled-fix.cmd utility that they instructed me to download. The oas-disabled-fix.cmd utility will not run.

I have contacted McAfee and they have told me that it is a problem with Windows Update. I have contacted Microsoft and told them that as well, but they seem to be trying to rule out any other possible cause, than what McAfee says is the actual cause of the problem, thereby dragging this out even longer.

Microsoft is supposed to be getting back to me again tomorrow, but any other help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Almost every time I do quick scan and got nothing and I think it is good. However, I just read online, it says that when quick scan does not find anything then you do deep scan. It confuses me, since it means I should do deep scan all the time. ?

A:quick scan vs deep scan/full scan ( antivirus )

the 1000$ question is
which anti-virus
ON windows defender and malwarebytes and many others only a quick scan is necessary
The converse of what you have read is usually the case eg. You do a quick scan and only if that finds something should you then need to follow it with a full scan
For instance a threat scan on Malwarebytes paid for edition or the scan on the free version will scan up to 99% of the system
A full scan also scans the system restore points and other unusual places to detect, or at least try to detect, all possible traces of infection.
As I said it depends on the AV and to some extent the OS which I presume is not Windows 2000 as indeed commented on by my colleague Cookiegal in another of your topics
Also, it appears you're running Windows 7 and if you don't still have your Windows 2000 computer you should visit your profile and change that information so that it's current which makes it easier to help you in some casesClick to expand...

Hello,
My fiance recently informed me that he was getting new blue screen errors during his scheduled Norton 360 scans. I noticed his browser was redirecting to Ask.com and when I asked if Norton had mentioned a virus, he said no, but a popup had (he unknowingly clicked on some popup claiming his system was infected and needed to be cleaned - he is not at all technologically inclined). The problem is, neither Norton Antivirus nor Malwarebytes will complete a scan because a blue screen error occurs before it finishes. Online virus scans will not complete as well. At first the errors varied, but the last 5 have been consistent:
Bad_Pool_Caller
0x000000C2 (0x00000040, 0x0000000, 0x80000000, 0x0000000)
I do not have the exact wording of the blue screen as I am not at the problem computer, but can get this if necessary.

I have a feeling that a virus may be causing the stop errors.
Other things I have done to try and solve the problem:
I have removed and replaced each Ram stick to see if it was a mem problem. I have also checked for outdated drivers.

My mom gave me an old laptop of hers, it's a Gateway M285-E running Windows 7 32-bit. At first I noticed that explorer wasn't working right, for instance, the entire C drive seems to be empty (except for two files) and some explorer windows are coming up without any words (see first screenshot), task manager included. I tried to Run AVG anti-virus scan, but it froze the computer everytime, so I uninstalled and not have avast! free on it. As can be seen in a screenshot, I could not get a system health report, the same error happens everytime I try even after restarting the computer.
If any other information is needed I will be happy to supply it.

OK Camokid

There are several problems here that my partner and I are going to help you work through. I would suggest up front if you can do a clean re-install of win 7 it would be faster and easier.

That having been said, in your specs you have SP-1 in the crashes you dont.

Your OS version in the crashes is listed as "enterprise", which is not the best version to be running at home. Has that OS been modified in any manner?

As m partner is saying there are at least three separate malware apps running simultaneously. Thats never a good idea. Follow her directions for the removal of them.

My computer was at a crawl, even step from booting to loading the desktop and beyond took at least 50x as long. But in Safe Mode, it was running only a little slower than usual, so I suspected a virus or malware. Attempts at using AVG antivirus's command line scan in Safe Mode was met with messages such as 'Boot Sector Hidden' or something like 'Processes scanning failed'.
Desperately I tried to run CHKDSK. Seemed to solve the problem, but just after that, AVG antivirus crashed while scanning. Next day, I try again, AVG seems to work detecting no threats, and Malwarebytes detected nothing too.
NOW I want to make sure my computer is virus or malware free. Please help me, this is my only laptop.
I have Hijack this logs, but there is some error message about hosts files, I can post them if you want.. I tried aswmbr anti root kit , but the program always crashes just as it's checking sysmain.dll
Some background: Awhile ago, I accidently installed some malware by not unchecking the right boxes while installing DAEMON tools. Found out it was messing with my browser, so used Spybot Search and Destroy plus Malwarebytes anti-malware, found some malware uninstalled them, also remove them through Control Panel. Seemed fine. until a day later when I accidently turned off the mains power to the laptop, without any battery in. Then the slow down suddenly appeared. I have accidently done this before but it never had this effect.

Hello Everyone!

I was checking my grandmother's computer, which was unbearably slow. She hadn't run her virus scan in about 2 years... (-_-) so I figured that was the problem (since she didn't download much of anything).

Guess as it turns out, some other grandkids had been noodling around on MSN and clicked an exe file or something, because suddenly the scanner came up with several alerts to the TR/Crypt.CFI.Gen. Deleted it via the virus scan, but I did some extra searching and I found a post in your forums saying to use HijackThis to double check if the components were uninstalled or not.

I ran HijackThis and it came up with a log I don't understand. Not to mention when I clicked the SendLog button it told me to send it to this forum.

I was wondering, am I in the clear now? (Or is it still hiding?)

Let me start off by saying thank you for taking the time to look into my issue. As a new member of Bleeping Computer's forums I am hopeful that I will find many individuals who are willing and able to aid me with my computer problems, and for those of you that are, I wish to express my sincerest gratitude.
Unfortunately, I don't speak computer very well. Put a block of code in front of me and I'll have no idea what to do with it. Heck, I barely have any idea what my computer specs are, let alone what to do with that information. It's all a very, very sad tale, I assure you.
Onto my issue:
Recently, just this last Saturday (Jun 28, 2014), my computer was operating just fine. I was able to watch some videos on Netflix, play some League of Legends, and signed on to Elder Scrolls Online for a minute. Nothing out of the ordinary. But the following day, Sunday (Jun 29, 2014), my computer loaded in a fashion most peculiar. Now I don't mean the boot up was wonky, but when I signed in to my profile I immediately noticed that something was wrong.
All of my desktop icons were either moved or gone and my wallpaper was reset back to the computer's default. I had had an issue like this in the past and a simple reboot of my system was enough to rectify the problem. This time, however, rebooting my computer three times yielded no results, and, much to my chagrin, I knew that to fix the problem I'd have to dig deeper. As I would come to find out, much, much deeper.
You'll probably think I'm a... Read more

I have a home wireless encrypted network. I have 3 laptops and two connect without any issues, but I have one (GQ ZX-5361 running XP home) which requires "special care". To connect, I have to do the following dance:

1) open the "Wireless network connection status" from tray
2) select "[view wireless networks] button
3) notice no networks
4) push hard button on keyboard (on my GQ 5361) to turn on wireless radio
5) select '[view wireless networks"] button again
6) <progress> - I now see the network I want
7) wait for network to connect
8) reopen the "Wireless network connection status" from tray
9) select "support" tab
a) select "repair"
b) <sometimes progress> somtimes this will work but
c) open a cmd tool (from start menu) and
d) type in ipconfig
e) ping my wireless router (192.168.1.1)
f) ping a public site (www.google.com)

I have written a little app to do some of this, but I need to know the command to type into the "cmd" window to view the wireless networks. This will help greatly, as then I can have my app lead the user down this garden path.

I would also like to know how to power up with the radio enables as well. A scan of the bios settings did not reveal anything useful that I could see.

Thanks - Pop(arosa)

During the last few weeks, we have been tweaking the avast! 5 engine; and while doing this, we found out that there were some hidden reserves with respect to its performance (namely, the duration of the on-demand scans).

One of the great new features of avast 5 is the persistent cache, a mechanism which allows us to skip rescanning of certain files. In particular, this applies to files which are on our internal whitelists, as well as files which are digitally signed by trusted publishers (we maintain a relatively short list of software publishers that we trust, and we consider any files produced and digitally signed by these publishers as safe).

Previously, we were using the crypto services provided by the operating system (called “wintrust”) to do the actual verification of the digital signatures. We knew this wasn’t ideal though – especially because we realized that in case the underlying system was somehow compromised, any such system API could already be redirected/hijacked by malware and so trusting it was not 100% bulletproof. For this reason, we have been working on our own implementation of the signature verifier. What seemed like an easy task in the beginning actually turned out to be a fairly large project with tens of thousands of lines of code, and many months of work.

The works on this were finished about a month ago, and after some additional reliability testing, we finally released it to the public as part ... Read more

I got a virus today. I ran avast, malwarebytes and super anti spy ware. (avast indicated the type of infection as a rootkitgen) They got rid of some but every time I restarted I would scan and avast or malware would find some new infection. Also, Right after my first scan/removal today with avast I restarted my computer and when my desk top was loading I got a message that said significant hardware changes were detected and I must activate windows in 3 days. (I have windows xp sp 3. This computer is 2 years old with a legit copy of windows.)

After using the above security programs I was still getting redirected with firefox. Also, google crome did not work it just loaded to a blank page. Next I used TDSSKiller and it found 1 infection. Alright so I got this fake anti-virus from tvshack.cc, and have actually contracted it numerous times (what can I say, tv shack is amazing). Since then I have found an awesome add-on for firefox called NoScript, which blocks all the malicious crap from the site while still allowing the scripts that actually stream the videos through. I've been using this program for a couple weeks now and have not had a problem since. So, contracting this malware should no longer be a problem. The malware caused pop-ups showing fake scans, saying "buy our fake product to solve the issue we caused!" (k maybe not those exact words). It blocked me from being able to execute any application, erased my system restore points, interfered and changed the settings of programs, and would give me the Blue Screen of Death ("A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer"). Every time it happened, including the most recent, I cleared out most of it with updated versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware(first in safe mode, then normal mode) and SUPERAntispyware(normal mode only). However I'm still encountering some leftover problems. The Blue Screen of Death still occurs every once in a while (not nearly as much as it use to) resulting in an immediate and 'unexpected' shutdown. Some programs cannot be updated, installed, or activated. Superantispyware tries to update but a message error comes up saying superantispyware.exe i... Read more

Due to other more important works i did nothing to recover it . But tried on differnt dates, the status was still the same. Finally today when i checked the browsers it was working fine (after 17 days) .
But the videos are on a speed faster than normal. (Checked the same video on different laptop on the same wireless connection)

Currently this thread is keyed through the same suspect machine.....

Does the infection still persist or is it some other problem. What is that i should do? Can anyone help?

Anyone know if you can do a RegEdit to remove the "Time/Date" panel when you activate the "Charms Bar" please ?

I just hate the way it works. Can't see the point in it , I have the time and date on the superbar already and never use the start screen as such but I like the Metro search function ( So I wont disable it completely ). Am I correct in saying that the Metro UI part of Win 8 is not themeable , As in a custom "Visual Style" edit ?

Thanks

With decor8 you can customize certain colors that pertain to the charm bar, so to your question is it themeable, yes.
How it works to change it I dont know the mechanics but you can customize background and text colors.

Hello,
About a week ago I got some malware on my system by the name of Antivirus Scan. I scaned with Malwarebytes, Clamwin, Trend Micro House Call, and Spybot Search and Destroy. My AVG Pro subscription had just run out, and I was about to install DefenderPro 2010 but all this happened and it would not install. Also, Mirar toolbar was installed arround this time, but I am not sure who did it or exactly when. I was able to remove Antivirus Scan (or so I thought). I started to get Generic Host Services for Win32 Services errors and IE would crash. I later found out that it may have been because Antivirus Scan and Mirar were not completely removed. I forbid anyone in my family to touch the computer until I fixed the problem, but my hubby didn't listen. Today, he downloaded Antivirus .NET and now I can only operated the computer in Safe Mode. I cannot use the account that A. .NET was downloaded on in Safe Mode, only other accounts. I am not very strong with virus removal, and realize that I am now in over my head. I have attached the required documents and would really appreciate some help as soon as possible. My computer is used for my job. I do not have a XP disk, but I do have Recovery Console. I can probably barrow and boot disk if need be though. Thank you very much for your time.

Hello forum,
What do you people think about Norton. Is Norton any good these days? Should I buy this antivirus?

A:Is Norton any good these days? Should I buy this antivirus?

The malware prevention is pretty good, and it also has SONAR behavior blocker. The new versions seems to be cloud-based, it seems pretty light (about 25-40 MB ram usage). The only things I don't like is that the scans sometimes "can't remove some malware" which you need to remove manually even though they aren't active. The web extension could be improved a little, but otherwise it is good IMO.

Is this okay? I usually shut my laptop off every night before bed. But lately I have been having shutdown and start up problems. Something is causing Windows to hang during shutdown, and therefore I have to hold the power button down for it to turn off.
Doing this at night, then causes Windows not to want to boot up in the morning. It eventually boots up and loads fine after a few attempts. So instead of having to deal with the frustration of doing this every night, is it acceptable to leave it on for a few days at a time?

(And in regards to the problem my laptop is having, My CD-ROM is also broken..so at this time, I'm unable to use the Windows recovery disk :/)

A:Leaving Laptop on for a few days at a time.

It won't hurt it as long as it has enough ventilation. Don't stuff it into a corner or anything. You could also set it to hibernate, which basically turns it off without shutting down Windows. Of you could just put it in standby, which uses more power but basically does the same thing.

Hello I have a DELL XPS M170 Laptop. I used to run an ebay business which I would sell INSTANT DELIVERY items. I used Outlook Express to send emails once I had received payment. Outlook Express has an option that it will automatically send emails if it picks up key words. The problem was that my laptop had to be on with Outlook Express running in order to instantly send emails. I used to leave my laptop on for days at a time, not only that but I had it on a bed so there wasnt any airflow. I know im a IDIOT for that and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. My laptop doesnt have any problems like shutting down or anything like that. It actually still runs perfectly except that it gets so hot I could barely touch the bottom of it. After leaving it on for a couple hours i could feel the heat coming through the top. I need your help guys what can I do to fix my very hot laptop. What part do I need to replace (because I know I need to replace something) in order to get my laptop back to its original condition? All the replys from other people about this type of situation always say use air to blow out dust but that is clearly not the case for me. I left my laptop on for days and it wasnt on a flat surface. I basically just need to know what i need to replace in my laptop and I can just purchase the new part and install it myself. I am aware of laptop cooling pads but I just want to fix the problem. I would really appreciate ANY help from anyone who knows which part is getting ho... Read more

i had downloaded the antivirus AVG 2012 free edition from download.com or cnet is what its also known as. two days ago, but it slowed down my computer so i uninstalled it the next day. i had installed panda cloud after uninstalling AVG 2012. the problem comes from security center, whenever i turn on my pc on; it says my firewall is off so i click the shield to fix the problem. it also says i still have avg 2012 with panda. the program is still affecting my other antivirus and firewall even after clearing all traces of the conflicting software from my laptop. apparently there's still traces left or else it wouldn't be recognized by security center right?
my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite a25 s3072 running windows XP sp3.

Hi all. Im new at this and completely useless at keeping my computer safe evidently.

I had to reformat my computer this week (after spending many hours looking for the disc to do so) because everytime we opened internet explorer the entire computer would freeze.

So after reformatting and losing most of my data (pictures music etc.) I had been looking for new antivirus software. Problem is that Im broke so I was being cheap and looking for free antivirus etc.

Anyways McAffee (which came with computer reformat) sends up a notice that windows automatic updates is turned off. I google how to fix this. Open Admin tools and services and come to find out it has been disabled. Cannot re enable it because it gives me error code 1058.

Sooo I google error code 1058 and that is no help. Tells me the same thing over again (admin tools, services AAARGH!)

Downloaded windows defender- and oh goodie that cannot run either because automatic updates wont work. Microsoft site is no help whatsoever.
Run microsoft one care live or whatever the hell its called and it does its thing and deletes stuff. still no help. auto update still not working. though some of the popups have stopped.

Finally find another forum like this one that has suggestions.(the parasite fight) and more suggestions. I download a few different antivirus, antispyware, anti-everything- still cannot fix automatic updates. Do however learn to delete wildtangent (WHY would toshiba send this with reformat disc if i... I just watched a YouTube video of a Win7 Image Restoration.
The author indicated he had trouble restoring a System Image that was over 30 days old, due to the fact that the 30 day activation period for Win7 had expired from the time the System Image was made. It returned an error message for an Image that was over 30 days old, whereas an Image that was restored within 30 days of making it did not. Can anyone definitively shed some light on this? Do I have to create a new System Image each 30 days to remain protected due to Microsoft activation requirements?

A:Is a System Image time-limited to 30 days ?

This guy did not activate his system with a valid product key. Else there is no such restriction.

For the most part, I finally got Windows 10 to work, except I have a micro-stuttering problem after just a few days of power-on time. I also have a WD My Cloud on my home network, so I'm wondering, does backing up to cloud storage have a negative impact on my system performance?

Hi everyone.

I recently bought a custom-made computer from a well established business in the UK.

The computer arrived and as I was installing everything onto it, the internet dropped out a few times. I thought nothing of it and continued. After a day or two, the dropping out happened more and more until after about 4-6 days, it become unusable.

I contacted the business, and they sent out a new network card. Whilst I was waiting for this to arrive, I tried using a USB adaptor instead of the installed card. This worked fine, until again, after 2 days or so, it started having the same issues and then stopped working completely after a similar amount of time.

The new network card has now arrived and after 2 days, the errors seem to start to be happening again. It has dropped out 3 times now and looks as though to be getting more frequent like before.

I have tried numerous attempts to fix the errors - resetting the adaptor, reinstalling the adaptor, pausing anti-virus, and all the other methods I could find online - but none have made any difference. Using the troubleshooter works okay for the first few times, but as the issue gets worse, it becomes less and less effective. The errors it reports change but most often it is related to a gateway not being available, or there being some form of IP issue.

Perhaps worth noting is that I use my phone as a hotspot as the internet signal is terrible where I have the computer. However, I've tested it, and it works absolutely fi... Read more
